Hi everyone good afternoon thanks for coming today this is going to be a my Edlio webinar covering our Pages feature so we're going to be doing some work within the pages feature Showing you how to create new pages what you can do with in Pages how to get there how to make them show up on your website this video will be recorded and uploaded to our help center after we also do have a representative here from our tech support team he will be assisting me with answering any questions within the chat feature since I will be talking and sharing and unable to see the questions so if you have anything just put it right in that chat and he'll be happy to help so I will go ahead and make sure that you can see the pages feature and so we're going to go ahead and start in our dashboard as you can see this is going to be the first thing that you notice when you log in to our to your admin website I'm going to be showing everything today as an administrator and you should be able to just one moment please I do believe that my screen has stopped sharing alright and now you should be able to see my screen my apologies everyone not sure exactly how that stop sharing but you should be seeing right now my my dashboard in my edlio website so I'm going to be showing everything today as though you are an administrator sometimes you will be potentially doing things from the perspective of another staff or user so what you see when you login if you login under those credentials might look a little bit different but if you're a website administrator this you look pretty familiar to you so we're going to start in this part and I'll just go ahead and cover the couple of different ways that you can actually get to your pages feature you can start of course just by clicking into pages right here and all of the features should show right here you can also start in your hamburger menu which is what we like to call this menu over on this side because it looks like a hamburger you can navigate to page management and then pages so there's a couple of different ways the next thing if you started on this screen you'll notice that you do have your categories here everyone has six categories you can edit the names of them but you do not have any more than six if you choose to edit the name just make sure you hover over this pencil icon and then hover over this pencil icon and you can change rename add names manipulate those names in that you can also make sure to think about the categories as your filing cabinet for your content for your website so your filing cabinet holds all of your content content is going to be organized into your sections and then into your pages and we'll talk about that more but the categories can kind of be thought of as the beginning of your filing cabinet for all of the content that goes into your website and this is what you would generally see if your logged in again is an admin if you're a teacher you might not see this but this is this is that view you can also hide your categories if you do not want these categories all of them to show up again you only get six of them but you can hide some of them if you choose to and that can be done by going again I'll show that one more time into category options and then going down and clicking either hide or show so if you were to hide one always make sure you save your changes and you no longer have that extra schools category that we just saw I'll go ahead and show that one again you cannot truly add or delete them but if you do feel like you have more that you don't need it this time you can hide them now we can go ahead and talk about the sections within the pages and this is the next level of that filing cabinet so your sections are what contain all of the pages within say a specific category a specific category that you would like your pages to fall into this is also how you create that nice section menu that some of you might have on your website which I will definitely cover so these are kind of like maybe the folders of a filing cabinet and then within each of the sections are your individual pages so back here in the section if you'd like to add a section of course just go over into new section and give it a name and then underneath is where you would begin to add a page I'll cover that more in depth in a moment and you can rename the sections if you do not like the name of it with the pencil icon if you ever see a pencil icon that's generally a way to make edits to something the the categories do have a limit on the number like I discussed earlier you have six of them sections are Unlimited in pages are unlimited so you can have as many of these sections that you would like and then his many pages Within These sections as you would like but the categories the ones that I first showed those do have a limit of six of them you can also move these sections between your categories and that's done by being in the section landing page and navigating over to these three dots drilling down into that and then selecting move you can move then between say any of these main categories that we looked at earlier any of those sticks so if you would like to maybe organize your filing differently and that's how that's achieved you can also move your pages between your sections so if you click into a a section and you decide this page for example does not need to be in the section anymore you can move that in the same way you can hover over these dots over here and then navigate down to move and then you can move it into a different section if you need to go into a different category for example to get to the section you like it to be in to make just make sure that you select whichever one you need to and then make sure to always select of course move if you don't like the way that things are ordered in this if you'd like something to be more accessible for you to edit you can then drag and drop these pages in the section using these dots over on this side so you can drag and drop essentially wherever you'd like it to go when you decide to create a page you can go over into new page and create any of these different kinds of pages a blank page is just a basic blank content page with some different options that you can add within that but it is full of different kinds of Rich formatting that you can add to there's a content option for inserting text content or copy you can also insert a gallery of photos those can come from your computer or some different integration options that we offer with Dropbox Google Drive OneDrive if that's where your photos are stored you can also choose how those photos are displayed when rotate is the option that you've chosen rotate is the default so that is essentially kind of like a shuffle or a photo gallery and that's going to be the default if you have photos uploaded if you choose stack stack will be the photos lined out one after another kind of like a typical photo album style but rotate will be the default that it would go to you also have the option to upload a file a file we do support any accepted file type but if you would like to directly embed a PDF we support that as well but PDFs are the only ones that can be directly embedded if you do make any changes just periodically make sure that you're always selecting the save option up here so you don't lose any changes that you make you also have the ability to add content gallery and files over in the section menu if you want the section menu to show up you just need to make sure that the it's it's showing first of all and then you'll need to make sure that you have one of these side panels selected if you've selected fullwidth on your pages you won't have a section menu at all if you do select a section menu you can have it either left-aligned or right-aligned a section menu is something that I can show later but a section menu will show all of the pages on the right hand side that are within the same section as that page. It's very popular to have those pages shown. So I will definitely make sure to indicate that. But always make sure that you're selecting "save" so that your changes stay visible. Within the content option there is lots of ways that you can edit this text. You do have lots of rich formatting options of font size, you can insert hyperlinks or embed directly if you have something like an embed code from a YouTube video to embed directly that'll be placed in here in the source code. You can hyperlink things from outside sources. You can also directly insert images within the text as opposed to doing this Gallery which is a straightforward photo kind of depository option. You can insert photos directly into the text and then you have the option to align it with the text either left or right, and of course there's some other rich formatting with bold and italics and bullet points, if that's something that that text would need. We also do have settings for alternative text if you upload a photo within these and you have alternative text toggled on the photo will be required to have alternative text, meaning a description of that image for a screen reader, be entered in. And you will not see those photos on your live site unless you have an alternative text caption on it and that is something that you can turn on with in your settings. And then again of course is always make sure that you're saving. When you do want to show something that is within the section menu what that would look like I'll just show that. The section menu pages is what this looks like, so if you would like that to show up just always make sure that this is is aligned and that can be either left-aligned or right away that needs to make sure that that's shown. Once you do create your content some of you might wonder what happens to your page after you've made it. It doesn't necessarily automatically show up on your website and why is that? When you create a page that is one of the pages created that doesn't necessarily mean that it will automatically show up on your live site, we would need to make sure that it has been we need to make sure that is tied to something that is on the live site. So that will be done within your site navigation and your side navigation is basically how people that visit your website get around the content that you put there. So when a page is created it's not necessarily showing up there yet, we need to make sure that it is on the website for people to to find. So when you go into site navigation you will see, it might take a moment to show, all of the drop-down options that you would see on your website so these are all of the things that one would find in your sight navigation, is these drop down options. To make sure that those pages that you just created actually end up on your live site for people to find just make sure that it is linked to something on your site navigation. So if you would like to tie it to something like that just choose whichever drop-down item that you'd like it to go under, say for example you want this to be under the staff section, so you would create a new item, give it a name, perhaps it's the same name as the page, and you would link it to a page. And you also do you have the option to link to an entire section as opposed to just an individual page if you want the visitors to your website to find the whole section with the section menu as opposed to just an individual page within it. But let's say that we need to link it to this entire section you do on some websites have the option to add additional content but that's not always the case. If you'd like this to be linked to something else as well you can link to outside URLs, files, a feature within our website such as maybe our staff directory our food menu option photo album, but if you're just linking to a page you'll just link to a section or a page. Make sure you select done. And then apply changes And then make sure that the page that you just created shows up underneath one of these dropdown items. The "Apply Changes" will always be in the top right corner, it will have to be both something that you select done for, and then apply changes. If you decide that page doesn't need to be there anymore you always have the option to delete it with one of these, with this trashcan icon. And then you'll just need to make sure you delete the link and all the assets and then again apply changes. So that is the overview of our Pages feature. I am more than happy to illustrate any other particular parts of the pages feature that anyone has questions about. Or we can take questions in the chat if there's anything that needs to be shown then. [Silence] [Silence] [Silence] [Silence] [Silence] Hi Holly, Your question about printing a diagram or chart of all of your pages and sections, I'm not aware of anything that we offer quite like that. The question regarding updating images that are part of the main page layout, I'm not quite sure I understand that particular question, do you mind just expanding that a little bit within the chat and we'll definitely try to see if we can answer that. [Silence] [Silence] [Silence] [Silence] [Silence] [Silence] [Silence] Okay, I do understand that question much better, now thank you, Alyssa, for clarifying. My guess, I have not seen your website, but my guess is that is part of our, that might be part of the homepage Shuffle in your website. Shuffle is definitely something that you can change the admin level we would probably want to take a look at your live website though, so I do suggest that you give that phone number a call, but I'm sure they'd be more than happy to walk you through your particular website photos and how to change them. [Silence] I did just realize that I did not cover one particular portion that is quite important and helpful. You can unpublish pages that you've created if you decide that you don't want them to actually show up anywhere, just like Jordan just said, you can unpublish them within the formatting after you open up the page. It generally will default to published but if you decide that you don't want this to show up yet, maybe you're still adding content to it, maybe it's not relevant to that time of the year for example, or it needs to be just saved for later, just make sure that you navigate over to the page, select unpublished, and then save. If you're ready for it to be published again just toggle it back to published, and save once again.
