good afternoon everyone thank you so much for joining us yet again or are my it Leo series of training and today as you know we will be covering page management a lot of you had how many questions about how you are managing your pages as a website administrator or even for teachers and as you start to manage these Pages maybe as new users or you may need to Usher about how to get your content updated maybe disable a few pages get some conscience shared on your homepage what they were going to walk through today as always if you have any questions free to use the chat feature on your Zoom interface and tech support will be available to answer those questions and if we can't get your question today we will definitely send you an e-mail right after the training is included to get your answers so let's go ahead and get started if you signed in on your admin side you will see that in your pages section and for those of you who have just logged in if you're on your dash Ford you can click pages or you can click your hamburger menu that's your 3 miles in the top left-hand Corner want to go to page management and pages your categories are pretty specific and do know that when you are adding your sections two categories or your pages you have fun space not just with your site but with your pages as well a lot of people ask you know what are my limitations here you can add as much content as you need so just very briefly personal Pages some people do not know what this column is for so those of you who are maintaining a page and your staff directory whether you're a teacher at ministrative support staff if you would like to add maybe I was just a little blurb about you that's going to be in the staff directory that's what your personal pages are for and of course the teachers who have maybe additional privileges then they're going to have access to just the category that you giving them privileges and then the personal page is where they are maintaining their Pages the majority of the time to also be found in that staff directory category Pages a few things to mention here if you are from Verizon yourself with Pages for the first time of course it would be great for you to just kind of skip around quick in side of the categories and get you you don't get yourself a little more familiar with what's happening I would also suggest using search pages what gives you the specific category section area that your pages are listed in so that would definitely be useful to you and the staff and then we also have options no couple of things I want to say about the category options button if you find some of the categories listed below are not useful for your school for example here we have athletic team Elementary School may not necessarily mean you don't act low team so you can either remain that category or you can just hide it all together okay so to make adjustments to your categories we're going to quit category options and you can see a list of your categories below just hide the ones you don't need no that would be reflected of course in the category section no answer adding you no different content we're going to come back here just so that if you're needing to make additional options you can see under category list in the listed within each category you have unlimited section these are all of your section that you see here you can create more sections just by clicking new section if you would like to rename the section quick the pencil I'm sorry if you wear in the category if you want to rename the categories some of you want to either we name them instead of hiding them right here and then within your section you have unlimited pages so if you want to rename the section you click the pencil here as well okay going back just to make another point about Pages some of the questions were you know I've added my content but I do not see this on the live site where is it a lot of you are expecting to see your pages under your drop down menu as soon as you add them. Your second step so you create your content make sure you're good to go make your edit maybe create a new contract and then if you would like that concert to be shown in the drop-down menu that's done under site navigation we're going to get there shortly keep in mind that your drop down menus and pages are not one of the same they're not connect your not connect what year maintaining in pages is a section in you so the menu that you see on the right or left side of your page that's what we call a section menu that's what you're maintaining and but let's say for example there's a mission statement page here let's say I wanted to update this mission statement page now to make the just meet there again if you're viewing this for the first time use your search Pages button just going to type in a mission statement here and the start just letting me know that it's under miscellaneous and in the about section so you can click on the search page or I'm just going to go directly there and here's my mission statement No the additional Pages if you look below the additional pages that you see here they should be reflected in the section you on the live site okay so that's pretty much how you know you're in the right direction Superstar if you want to change the order of the pages that wasn't another question that I received you know how do I change the order of the pages on the left side I can't seem to make adjustments here all you need to do in your section is just drag and drop your six doctor here for but a dragon drop that page rap and if you click the three dots to the right you have multiple options here move is an important feature because some of you are maybe seeing your content for the first time or you're cleaning up your site or you know maybe you've been giving this responsibility I'm from another user who was no longer you know meeting the site at your school and you're wanting to maybe make some adjustments here okay I would say use your move feature if you want to find a new category or section for this content to live just like that here new category or new section quick move-in that page will transition there things to keep in mind you cannot move entire sections you can only move individual pages okay so for those of you who may not know what I mean by that I'm just going to go back one miscellaneous is the category about is the section if I click the three dots to the right I cannot move the section I have to actually click inside of the section and move the individual no I wish that you also have an unpublished option a lot of you are creating content and that constant may not be useful right now or you may feel like you know that time has come and gone I don't necessarily want to delete it I may need for the new school year you know what do I do from here three dots quick unpublished this will be disable from the live site but staying on the back in So as you continue to update your sections or even if the individual it's listed here is just not live whatever you're ready for this content to go live just click publish and you're all set to go no another thing to keep in mind for every section and individual page it has its own late so if you want to link the entire section 2 you know maybe at the concert that you're creating or links that you're so fine you can use your public URL never going to click new page and then you have teacher pages below now these feature pages are relative to the section that you're only these are not used for your school's General photo album or you're not adding all of your scab just to one section or videos your school General gallery this is specifically used to show in one section only okay so this would be good for maybe clubs and activities you're the category is clubs and activities the section there clubs and activities category all of your sections are listed below so I can click on bed and say all of the content that I would like to add for Ben belongs in this section so I clicked new page and if I have a video photo album or you know I would like to act late these options are baby to get its relative to dust and then of course you have the option to add one individual link or if you have a list of links to provide you can make those adjustments as well link to another page or just a full page of Link link to another page let's say this is called resources at the URL below she was one of the two options and Save so my one link that I've added here is not reflected in the section menu resources so when I click this it takes me to an external site now some of you have compiled a list of links that you would like to offer your stew and your parents that's what the links option is for it again all of you do have unlimited space so you're free to add as much content as you need and then we have the blank as you know you have your unpublished and published options your actions button allows you to save this to your desktop and then you have side an option the side panel option is becoming a huge concern some of you are using it when I don't think you mean to and it's you know closing up some of your content so just to be clear your side options you have three year one of which is a full-width page if you decide to go with the flow with page you're essentially removing the section menu from the new pager creating okay so everything that you see here on this right side will no longer be visible you will only have the content in the center of the page or you can have the content the section you and the additional maybe text and photos and files on the left side of the page or on the right side of page and also under Section menu you see hiden show so you have two ways for the section you to show so I definitely just want to be clear about how you know you all are seeing your content some people are wondering you know I've added text and I added images to the right side of my page but that's not reflected here the reason is because you actually hidden your section menu or you've chosen to go with a hole with page and then you have the option to add text to photos and it files in the center of the page and then of course on the left or right side of the page and as usual you can add as many of these blocks as you need I'm going to start with content and now when you're adding your text this was a question actually that I received today and trade it you know user wanted to copy and paste from a previous website that she was using perfectly fine you can totally do that but sometimes it keeps maybe that same thought or maybe the background colors the same and you want to just clear the formatting you have those options here once you copy and paste quick clear formatting and you should be good to go now some of you may need to make a ditional adjustments but copying and pasting clear formatting would definitely remove you know those extra formatting options or no background colors or any additional content that you don't want added to the new pager creating I know a lot of cheese now keep in mind all users are maintaining Pages the same way all pages are maintained the same way so even when your teachers may have questions about you know how they're adding content if you are website administrator you should definitely be able to answer those questions or you can looking for them to the help center the six dots that you see here I haven't mentioned this in a while but I had a few questions come in about it this allows you to drag and drop your blocks around the page so some of you may want to switch the content of a bit you're more welcome to do that there going to text again content and just copy and paste a little text here no the in mind images teachers ask me this question a lot if they can link images yes they can and easy way to do that it just click the image in your formatting option so like your photo now the sources added as you can see the are set the image description for those of you who are adding you are ternative text which is again primarily used for those users who are visually impaired description of the image so that when they use readers in different software to access the content of your site you are as short as an admin that you're maintaining in 83. The description that you wet the bed image so my image description can say something like red and black I'm about to quick okay and now you can see me Dimensions were the same dimensions of the image itself but an easier way around resizing it is just to bring those Corners in a bit you can use the line left Center and right options maybe wrap it within the text and then again if you would like to link the image just going to hyperlink here and my URL select my Target and click okay now if you prefer to act images gallery Dragon drop usual as many images as you like now the images are adding here you have the option to have them rotate like a or you can have them stacked on top of one another by changing your display mode again a lot of you have already seen this option but for those of you who are seeing this maybe for the first time your display mode is where you make the changes number one and then if you want to change the order of the images you drag-and-drop you can add your captions important to also important to the list of changes you're making here is alternative text just click the alt button and add your description here and then you have a fouled option same process you're going to drag and drop as many files as you'd like you're not creating folders what you're doing is maybe adding the link to the page or you have the option to embed that how do you have seen how we have now added that feature so if you haven't had a chance to play around with it you can follow along down first if you want to change the title instead of deleting the document itself just double click here ancient your text what the three dots to the right now you have a few options here but to the right of filename you should see three sizes you can select any size for your document to be embedded on your page now I know we covered feature Pages for example adding videos to your section menu but some of you may want to add videos to the page it's so you can totally embed them here if you want to do that quick and source code to left and right arrows that you see within your formatting option so I'm just going to use YouTube as an example and once you find your video Quick Share and in bed behind mighty cold that you see here just copy that could and pasted in the source code field click okay and your videos now now for those of you who may need you know maybe a play-by-play of how to embed or anything that I'm covering your pages now you can also find those details in The Help Center before I save this page remember I have the option to add more text for those in power to the right side of this page Gallery at a few images here and these images will be stacked I'm just going to add more title and save my new page so under about I've created a student resources page which means when I go back to the life site and refresh student resource should only show in the section menu title text in line image that is also linked to an external site stock images to the right which are all clickable rotating images in the center Betty document and then you have the embedded video which place directly on your page now getting all users whether your teacher support staff or an administrator this is how you're maintaining your pages now it's as a website administrator you have created a new page and you would like to link that page to your drop down menu that you're stuck second and final step so we created a page we made our adjustments to sections or categories whatever we need to do now on the app Insight I'm going to site management and start navigation start navigation is where you maintain your drop down or Mega Millions K that's the only thing you do here not managing the content so let's say for example I wanted this under student okay I'm just going to click new item here we're going to call the student resources I have four options to link as you see a section page you are okay and this is to a link within your site or an external link file Dragon drop any type of Doc here and then feature page so list of all of the features we offer our below anytime you manage edit create a new page within Pages you will always find it under Section 8 your complete list is he you can find it by category or section or course you can type in the page so if my student resources page is here under miscellaneous section done and apply to changes so now when I go to the live site refresh under student my student resources option is now listed so here's my new page I have all of my content listed here and the section menu is listed here so keep in mind your content that you're managing of course lives in the section menu but if you want that to be you know one of the quick go to Zen your drop down you can just link it there and your drop down menus do not have to match your section menu that is one of the main questions I hear a lot with in training but I do want to just you know take that phone away from you because sometimes some section and  menu very wealthy so you want to consolidate you know some of those items within your drop-down-menu they should be maybe around 6 or 7 items and I do understand you know some schools which are much larger than others drop down menus may be a little late fee but we normally recommend that you know maybe 6 or 7 items if you can convince them that would be great but again your drop down menus do not have to match your section menu so again that is how you are maintaining your pages you are maintaining the section and teachers of course all of their Pages only show on their staff pages that is a question that I hear a lot from the website administrators they want to know where is the teacher content going remember anything that the teacher add they fine in the staff directory so when they going to stop looking for there's a complete list of your staff there you can search your staff directory and do those teacher pages and all of the content that is listed will be available call solid liquid here may be a bio class in all types of content that teachers have to manage only be listed on their teacher page so again if you all have any question you have 2 options you can contact technical support by submitting a ticket or calling in the hours at UC to the left of toll free number is preset to your specific time zone and you also have the help center which I normally recommend that users come to first you're more than likely going to find your answers here we have 3 beginner area is mainly for teachers and everything they need to maintain their teacher pages and be found here other than that for those of you who have advanced Awards website administrator you have two additional  sections to choose from and then we also have upcoming with webinars that you can register for and if you would like to encourage your staff to come here and registered you're more than welcome to do that and again if you cannot make it or you don't miss
