This is a 30-minute webinar highlighting how administrators and teachers can use various Edlio Websites communication tools. We share tips for using tools including the School News App, Email Sender, Social Media Manager, and News. These modules are included with your Edlio Website and can help you more effectively reach your entire school or district community.

Hi everyone thanks for joining us today for our Communications webinar. We have a tech support agents in the chat, so if you have any questions feel free to go ahead and ask them there. If we don't get everything answered today, we will follow up with you via email and this video will also be posted in the Edlio help center. So today we're going to be talking about our communication tools. Easy ways for you to get information across to your community, especially right now while we're all working from home. So this is going to be our home page here and then we log into our admin site you'll see all of our modules here. So let's go ahead and get started with some of the most commonly used communication modules. So we come up to our hamburger menu, we come to announce and we have our news and alerts. This is going to be where you're going to post any important news articles that will be pushed into your newsfeed on your homepage as well as the news feed in the school news app. So we're going to click add news and we want a new story here. Our headline [typing] any short summary of what you might be posting. [typing] [typing] [typing] and any additional content that you are going to have for your news article. You're going to have your formatting options here just like you do on any of your inside pages. If you need to cite a source or link to a source you can do so here; as well as uploading any photos here. We have the option as well to post now or the post at a later date. So if you're planning ahead and you want to schedule a post for a later time you can do so by selecting the post later and choosing your day and time. So we are going to go ahead and click save and now we have the option to push this news article to any of these other modules here. Our social media, we can turn it into a page pop-up alert, our Voice and text alerts, our school news app and the email sender. So we'll make this a homepage pop-up alert and again you can also schedule this for a later date and time when it expires here. Otherwise it's going to default for 24 hours. So now you can see our news has been saved so when we come to our home page and do refresh we have our news article here, we can click don't show again so this pop-up won't continue to pop up as you're navigating to the website, okay means it's going to close it for now, but anytime you come back to the homepage it'll pop back up, and read the full story takes you directly to that news story here. When we go back to the homepage and we scroll down you're going to see our newest news article here and again when you click on it, it's going to go ahead and open up that news and announcement article again. We also have the option to turn that homepage pop-up alert off at any time. So when we come back to our dashboard, our next area is going to be our Spotlight message. So we come to announce spot like the message. And this is going to be a place on the homepage where often times people will use it for a principal message; or if they want to highlight a teacher for some great accomplishments, your mission statements. So this is another great way to get important information across. So are spotlight message here is going to be directly under our photo shuffle, but if we wanted we can turn this into an important announcement about anything that's going on, the remote learning or any important information that we want to get across, it is going to stay static right there in your spot like message. We come back to announce. We also have our app alerts this is going to push any of that news to the school news app or you can create your own app alert, by clicking new app alert. [typing] [typing] [typing] And any links right here [typing] and then we can click send now. And now our alert has been pushed to the school news app. So when you open the app you're going to go ahead and see in the alert section there's going to be the new article there. We can also send out important information via the email sender. So to do that, we click new email and you can choose any of these templates here you'd like to send one that includes your calendar events or your news events that will be these first two. And you can see her right in the middle, that's going to be our news articles and then any additional information we want to add here. [typing] [typing] [typing] We can go ahead and format this if we like. We can adjust the colors, center it. We have more of our content down here and when we click continue. We can go ahead and come to our delivery options here, who is this coming from this is where your email sender information is going to go and who this is going to. So you can bulk upload addresses, via the CSV file or you can use existing contact lists here. [typing] Our delivery options once again we can send us now or we can schedule for a later date and time. And if you want to see what it looks like before you send out your email we'll just click preview email in the top right-hand corner. And now you can see what it's going to look like on our desktop and on a mobile device. When you're ready to send you can just go ahead and click continue and that'll send that email out. We can also push out those news and alerts to our social media. So if we wanted to come back here and edit this you can see it's set as the homepage pop-up alert and it is the news article that is featured on the homepage. So if we wanted to turn off the pop-up alert, we can do so here. We could also send this news article out via the email sender. We can push it to our social media, so you can select your Twitter and Facebook accounts to connect that will be found in your settings and that means when we push it out to the social media that same news and alert will go directly to your Twitter and Facebook feed. Another great way to get important information across is going to be with our homepage widgets. And it will be found under page management and homepage widgets. We have two options: we have a form widget and a button widget. The form widget is going to be a way to collect information that will go directly to a contact list. So we can drag it and drop it here and this is where it's going to be living on the homepage. We'd want to give it a title here. [typing] And then first name, last name, email any of these options here are what it's going to be either shown or hidden. And then we need to select which contact list we want to go to. We can make it a custom contact list or have the sign-ups go to any of our lists that are already in our contact lists. We can also add our button widget here that's going to be a button that when clicked it will go directly to whatever URL that you have it attached to. Whether it's an inside page or an external source. So we can give it a title as well [typing] [typing] And then we are going to need to put the URL of where it is linking to. You have the option of when clicked it can open in a new tab or you can open in the same window. We can also adjust where we want this on the homepage. We recommend not having your form widget or your button widget in the middle of the homepage, because that can hide any important news that you may be trying to get across. So we click save, and we can see up here our widgets have now been saved. So when we refresh our home page we've got our sign-up list here and we have our resources here for our button widget. So we connected this to our Resource Center page that we have. Now we can do we can also link to any sort of outside source you needed to or any inside page that you've already created. Another great way to get important information across is to add it to your site navigation. So our site navigation is going to be all of these that live up here. So if you needed to repurpose any of them you would just go to your menu, site management and site navigation. So here we've actually repurposed one of our site navigation items pertaining to the Covid-19 information. So we will go ahead and we have linked this section and page to our resources. Again you can always linked to a an external URL. We can add a file or any feature page. Once we have updated this we'll come up to the top and click save. So then when we come back to our homepage. You can see here our updates and resources page that we added to the site navigation is now live so anybody can visit and follow through all the different pages here within the section. Just another quick and easy way to get across any important information right here it's always going to live in your site navigation. Another way to get some information across is going to be by navigating to plan and our calendars. So we'll want to add a new event and this again will be shown on your calendars on your homepage, as well as the calendar within the school news app. [typing] [typing] We can select our time and location. Whether it is all day event, whether it repeats. Any necessary locations, and then the content here that will go along with the the calendar item. [typing] [typing] [typing] If we needed to add a link we could do so right here and we can upload any files. Click save. Now you can see that our new news article is posted right here. So when we come back and do a refresh on the homepage our calendar event should be updated. When we click show all events it will be listed here. When we click on it it's going to go ahead and open up the the calendar article here. Again we can click this link here will be redirected to that page that we attached to it. Another excellent way to get information across, outside of using the Edlio CMS is going to be a the Edlio Engage product. This is going to be a great way for teachers and parents and students to interact with one another. And it is just an additional resource for getting necessary and important information across to your community. By hosting an article here on this feed. By sending direct messages here. Any updates will be posted here in the alerts area your conversation alerts. The Edlio Engage calendar is going to be a calendar specifically for engage. That you can come to you to interact once again with your community and get additional information across this way. So once again we have all of our communication tools here. Our homepage pop-up alert. Our form widget, our button widget. Our updated site navigation. Our updated Spotlight messages. Our news and announcements. Our calendar events. Our Edlio Engage platform, as well as the school news app. And as always if you have any additional questions you can always visit the Edlio Help center.
