So let's go back to our teacher pages subject. so I'm going to pull up my teacher page right now. I haven't really designed it as much because I wasn't using teacher pages before COVID, but now that I'm going to be doing a lot more remote learning, I want to really spruce up my page, make sure that people are no that they are coming to the correct teacher page and that they can access all the materials here on my teacher page. So the first thing I want to do is add a profile picture here so that they can become familiar with who I am, since we may not be at face-to-face at this time. The way to do that is to go back to the admin site, go to account click on profile and you'll see their section called my photo, go ahead and click the pencil icon and then select a photo from your computer to add I'm going to crop and save. And now that will show up on my teacher page The next thing I want to do is add a homework instructions to my teacher page and the way to do that is again I'm going to go back to my profile scroll down and click on edit pages and this will take me to my teacher page area my first page or my landing page is called "Welcome to My Class" so this is what it currently looks like right now and then I want to add an additional page here so I'm going to on add a page, this is going to be a blank page and I'm going to title my page "Homework Instructions" and then I have three different options here I have an option to add a Content box that's all of my text, photos or any files that I want to upload I'm just going to add some text for now. Let's go ahead and publish that I also want to change up how my section menu is showing up. So it's currently showing up to the left of my page, but I want to have it on the right. So I'm going to click on layout and I'm going to choose this option here. Let's go ahead and hit publish Now I'm going to go back to my welcome to my class page and make sure that also showing up correctly. So yes my section menu is to the left of that and I'm going to add another text box here as well now Now let's go back to my teacher page so we can look at the changes and I've refreshed my page and now you can see my profile picture is showing up the section menu is to the left of my page and now I have a text section here as well. So again now it's looking a little better design-wise in how I'm putting in the information I also want to add underneath my section menu here, An office hours section so that parents and students know when is the best time to contact me so the way to do that is to go back to that page sorry about that [Pause] [Pause] [Pause] so now we're going to go here, click on" Add" and then contact and I'm going to type in office hours [Typing] and then hit publish as well so that's going to show up and I can also choose to add specific files in my teacher page for example I like to add a syllabus so that students can access it easily. So the way to do that is to click on the "add" button and go to "file" and I'm going to click on upload and choose a file Here's my syllabus Now what I really like about I'm uploading files to my teacher page is that I have different display options here when I click on the three buttons. So I can either display as a file name which right now is syllabus or I can actually have it show up as an image. So I have a small image, medium image, large image. I'm going to do large, so you'll be able to see what it looks like so this is how it's going to show up on my teacher page and the users can actually scroll through and read it. I feel like that helps the document pop out it's harder for them to miss if they go to the teacher page and look at it that way. Let's go ahead and publish that and refresh my page here so you can see what it looks like and here you'll see my syllabus is showing up and I can scroll up and down right here. That's a great option for uploading homework instructions or syllabuses to your website Now I want to make the design of my webpage look a little more professional help it pop out a little more differentiated from what maybe my other co-workers might be doing. So I'm really excited to show you the new display options that we have here at Edlio We are gonna go back to "Welcome to My Class" and change the layout a little bit. So I'm going back to the layout option here and we have three new design options now available. It's these three options here so you'll see this image up here that's called our hero image and it means that image will show up at the top of my page the section menu will show up to the left and then this will be my content box this option means that there is no section menu and is just an image and a content box and then this is the section menu to the right the content box the left and the image of the top. So since I already have my section menu here I'm going to go ahead and choose this layout option and now I'm going to add a hero image up the top of my page some cooking on ADD and then going to photos I'm going to upload a photo and I'm going to choose this to be the first image my users will see when they come to my page so whenever you upload an image to your Edlio website you'll get the missing Alt text warning. This just means that you need to add a description for your image so that if someone who visits your website is visually impaired and they're using a screen reader to describe the image to them the screen reader will be able to read the text that you've added for your image. This makes sure that your website is also ADA accessible. So I'm going to just add the general description here headphones for my image and hit save and now you can see that warning has gone away and I also have a few more options of how to display this image when I click on this gears icon now if I have more than one image I can actually have it rotate when I click on this or I can have it stacked which means two images will show up at the same time for now because I'm only uploading one image I'm just going to leave it on rotate it won't rotate through anything because it's only one image I'm done for the width. I can either do constraint or full. Let's first do constraint we can see what it looks like and then I'm going to go ahead and hit publish let's go back to my teacher page and hit refresh and you can see this is my hero image it's the first image that's showing up when they come to my teacher page so I like that it's helping it pop out there and I'm going back here now I want to show you what it looks like when it's full and its edge to edge a lot of websites are doing this now and it really helps your teacher pages look so I'm going to go ahead and hit publish and let's refresh my page again and you'll see now the images edge-to-edge there's no white space in there so it really zoomed in and you can see that it's really making a difference there now I can also add images within this area here and I can do that wants to do this doesn't take up too much room I'm going to click back on the add option and click on photos upload a picture I'm going to go ahead and my Ulta text as well click on the gear icons now it's only giving me the constraint options versus the full because right now I have the section menu here if I wanted this picture to be edge-to-edge I would have to remove the section menu so that would mean that I would go back to lay out and shoes this middle option here we're just only the heat hero image and the middle section so if I choose that and I go back here to this image I'm going to click on the gear icon and you can see that it's letting me to do the fall option and publish it and go back to my teacher page let's refresh and you can see it is now edge-to-edge so that's a really great way to we design your teacher pages make it more exciting and engaging for your students so another thing I want to do with my teacher pages is to add classes to my teacher a lot of you might be using Google Classroom you might not but you might have to check with your school's webadmin so the way to add your teacher pages and again to access that because I do see I had a question you go to account profile and then scroll down to edit pages and it'll take you to the teacher pages that you can create to go to classes you'll go to hamburger menu and you'll see classes so go ahead and click on that now make sure that you do have a current term set up that is something your school's web admin whoever is managing your website will need to do and then once the term is created you'll be able to go in and add a class directly there's also an option for Google Classroom integration so when add class It'll ask me do you want to import from Google Classroom you'll just hit yes and then it'll take you through the steps to do that for this weapon or I'm going to hit know so that you can see how to do it through the system but again you do have the option to import it directly from Google classroom so I'm going to hit no for this one and now it's going to have me at the course name which is music 101 and if I need to add it. I can do that as well 1st 2nd 3rd. And the department I want it under which is music you can see my term fall 2020 is already selected because it's been created for me then I'm going to description for my class and I can also add a file as well so it would be a good place to add your syllabus and if you co-teach the crossed with another teacher you can hit yes here and then go ahead and select the teacher from this drop down now these teachers are going to be pulled from the user management section and it's pulled from whoever has access to your admin site. So if you don't see someone showing up here that you do co-teach a class with, reach out to your school's web site administrator so that they can add them to the system. So let's go ahead and hit save here and we're going to go back to my page and refresh. And you'll see, now my classes is showing up right underneath here and it gives me a course description, instructor name, department files. Parents and students can subscribe by email. I also love this assignment calendar here so that students can keep track of what is going to be due and they can even subscribe to this calendar. So the last thing you can do for your teacher pages to help engage your students and your parents is to also include posts on your teacher page. So the way to do that is to go back to your admin site, go to the hamburger menu and click on Posts. And you'll have different types of posts that you can create. You can create a text post, link it to another page, something that has a photo or a video even. So for now I'm just going to create a text post I'm not going to include anything else and I'm just going to title it, create a description of what I want to say in my post. I can say something like "Welcome back to school" and then decide where I want it to post. It's going to post to my personal teacher page and my music 101 page as well. So let's hit save and then going back to my section here. You'll see that post is also now showing up. I can decide if I want to move it up by clicking on these six dots here. Whenever you see these grey dots, it means you can move the item up or down. So I want it before homework instructions so I'm going to go ahead and move that up there and let's go back to my page and see what it looks like. And you'll see here is my post-- welcome back. It'll say the day it was created and who it was created by. So I've seen a lot of teachers create these posts to help engage their students with what's going on in the classroom.
