Greetings and welcome to our My Edlio webinar on Page Management-- a feature of your Edlio CMS. This is the internal organization of all of your content so we will talk today about just the best way to use this. My name is Misty Rosenberg and I'm a Client Success Specialist and joining us is Sergio Flores, Technical support agent who will be answering questions in the chat. So we um as you're watching participating in this webinar a think about a colleague or someone at your school that would benefit from this recording in 1-2 days, the recording will be up on her Edlio Help Center for you to be able to easily share with someone or watch again and as you're participating please submit your questions they do matter to us so you know please make sure if we're not covering something that you have a question about or if we're talking and you know question pops up just please put that into the chat. Asking questions, it helps us to connect with you and understand your needs better. So who we are as Edlio, we're passionate about accelerating trust in K through 12 schools. So our goal is to build your trust and give you everything you need to master your presence online. We believe that our CMS is user-friendly enough for people to pick it up and use it immediately. Our webinars provide a way to give you a new ideas and change gears so that you can kind of follow these best practices in education and communication. Today's webinar we will talk about a thorough page management overview, some new options and features on this already robust content creation tool. All the ways you can use the pages that you've created so they don't just sit there in Page Management and will have real life practice setting up an admission section together. So let's get started. Oh quickly, this Page Management cycle includes everything that you do in Page Management so at any point in your lifetime with your CMS, sometimes it's tough when you're creating, adding, editing, and organizing content so whenever you're, and we'll go over this in just a few minutes, this is kind of when you first have an idea come into your head and you'd like to create it so that you can communicate that to your people. Step Two, you connect content together because parents and visitors they don't like to scroll. They don't like to have to go somewhere else so I will show you how your section menu feature makes that easier for them. Place and share contest so after you create it and connect it you decide where you want people to be able to access that. Step Four- Communication has happened this is this the moment of success. Visitors view those pages and they take an action Step Five- This is always best practice-- to step back and rethink and this is something that myself as a client success specialist, one of my jobs is to kind of rethink the organization and the use of content on your site. So please you know understand that you can always reach out to us to talk about that. So let's hop over into our dashboards this is this is our demo site please follow along as you are watching this, feel free to do the same thing on your site. So, our framework is you know these five steps of the page management cycle so today we'll be toggling between the admin site and the live site and it's always helpful to go back to the live site and see the changes that you've made and make sure that you're happy with them before you move on to the next thing so so starting just real quickly starting again with step one here so we're going to create some content today and as we go over to your hamburger menu you can follow along hamburger menu scroll down to Page Management and over to Pages. There's also a quick way to do that on your dashboard by just clicking Pages. Ok, so we're going to hop over to pages and if you are a web admin, you would likely see your Category Pages and your Personal Pages so someone who for example is given access to something but is not a web admin they might see category pages but probably not for the fullest extent that you see as a web admin. Personal Pages are when you're logged in for example as a teacher these are the pages that are attached to your name specifically. So there's a little bit of a difference between these two so it's important to understand this. When your site is developed from the very beginning with your project manager there are six categories that are set up for you. The maximum is 6, if you don't see all 6, you can always go into category options and this is where you could see your list of your six categories. Sometimes people opt to hide some of these categories because they only want four or three so that's up you this is also where you can change the name by clicking on this little pencil right here so just understand I'm just going to slide my browser over a little whenever your desktop on whenever you're organizing files on your computer it's very similar to this you have six categories on your edlio site, similar to having six folders on your computer. So, the reason it's important to utilize all of these are as many as possible is it kind of balances out your content if you plac everything in the same category it will take you longer to kind of find things of course you can always use the search pages feature but it makes it a little bit more complicated to find things but just understand you can rename these, you can move content around if it's the way that the content migration specialist placed it, you're not completely happy with totally make yourself at home within your category Pages it's very very important also to kind of set some ground rules with everyone that's going to be using those as well. So we'll talk about that a little bit today. So back to Step Two, the way that you connect you know so I'll just show you this real quick. The way that you connect content together in with in a section. Right now we're at the highest level categories as soon as we click into that category now we see sections, these are like a folder within a folder so if i for example clicked on Category 6 folder I would then find another series of folder here. So this folder we only have one so real quick just to prepare for what we're doing later we're going to create a new folder or in this instance, we're going to call it a section so right here at the top you're going to click on new section and we are going to call our section Enrollment because today we're going to start an admissions enrollment spot together so now I have a new section and I just want to step back one level to show you that now in this main category you now have two folders. So again, we're going to open up this enrollment section and we will start building the section out by creating pages okay so that's kind of with that first step there you're creating content and you're connecting it together so the first thing that we're going to do here with our admissions enrollment spot we created our section and now we're going to create some pages so let's click here where it says new page-- blank page-- you have so many options here whenever you add a page you can start a blank page from scratch or you could also link to another page so in building out your section menu you have a page on in another section or an external link this is exactly where you can place that we'll do that in just a moment. You can also add a feature page so for example in a little bit we'll connect a form into the section that we've created within your Edlio CMS. You can also add a video onto a page of its own, a photo album onto a page of its own, a calendar and a series of links. So for this one we're just going to create a blank page because we need to start a landing page here. We're going to call this, Enrollment Spot So, in this page here we've got several different spots I want to draw your attention to. We just changed the name of that page by clicking that pencil down here is where we add content and as soon as I click out of that it will save the name of that page. So whenever you click on this plus sign here you have some options. You can add content, which just means you know you're just typing information in. You are possibly copying and pasting from another document or another website. You are adding inline images that can text can be wrapped around when you use the content block. You could add a photo block which means on the same page with the content you can have a scrolling photo album, another thing today we're going to do is you can add a file for example of PDF document that can be scrolled through, which is super super helpful for parents using their mobile device who don't want to have to chase after a PDF somewhere, they want to be able to scroll through it and find the information that they need on that very page. You can also add buttons and Link two different places within your CMS or to external places and here there's some options that we probably won't get into as much today but where you can add a staff profile so instead of adding an image and typing in manually someone's profile email address which I see a lot of sites do you can simply add the staff profile that's already added as a user in User Management and a great way to kind of make it a very professional way to add staff, so for I'm just going to close out of that and we'll come back to that in a second. Now you have your side column here and you get to choose exactly where you want your side column to go. The default is on the right but you can click lay out and you have six different options here for layouts. So this is the default you can totally turn off the side columns by using the main one which kind of makes it its own website or you could move back to the left and something will practice in just a moment is what's called her hero layout where you can actually place an image or a section menu in the top instead of showing the header on your website so I will show you in just a moment what that looks like so with that you also have the option of turning off your side column with a hero layout and once we add pages, I get this question a lot, "How do I, how do I get my section menu to show up?" and right here you know when you look at that, add more pages to the section to display the menu so that's exactly what we're going to do before we start building out our section too much. So I'm just going to click publish, if you save draft this will not show up on your live site yet so this is great for if you're working on something with people and waiting on information you can always save draft and come back later for this webinar, I'm just going to publish it now and as soon as I step back information section. Now I have an item or a page in my section so I'd like to create a new page here so this is the step of connecting my concert together and I'm going to create another blank page that's called here's my title "Why ECP?" So why should someone enroll at Edlio College Prep, so we'll come back and develop this page in a moment. Step back one level and we have two items or two pages within that section and I just want to show you that now when I look on my public link here to see my page now I have a section menu with two items showing up on it. Okay so let's keep going back and developing this out a little bit. The next thing I'm going to do is add another page that is a blank page and this time it's going to be "Visit College Prep" [typing] and in this page I might embed a Google Map or place some instructions, some people will will insert a form there for a tour if someone is requesting to come on a tour. You could also do a virtual tour which a lot of people are doing now so we step back one level into the section menu and I'm going to have a page for a virtual tour where I'll eventually put a video on there. I'm starting to give them a kind of a call to action I sign up for if it'll be a form it's up to you and we'll click publish, so now we'll start developing out. I just want to do one more quick page, FAQS, so I'm going to show you all the things that you can do on these Pages. This is my FAQ section. And now stepping back into this level let's click on the section and now we can see a very kind of more developed Section Menu, okay so before we do anything let's open up our landing page, this is the page that will tell your visitors everything they need to know about your school so, you know, very important to highlight the unique features of your school here. So what we're going to do here is kind of answer this question-- Why ECP? I'm going to click on the page block and add some content here that I have off to the side over here. So why college prep and of course we can also put that there. Why College Prep? Whenever you place content that you've copied somewhere, sometimes you have to go up here to your little clear formatting button and click it. Another important thing to do whenever you have too many extra spaces from another document is to go over here to paragraph and uncheck some of these things down here. This is a a common thing to make sure that it's not copying and pasting formatting that will make it harder to read. So then you can you can definitely format this however you want so we would either bold that our you could make it a special header here and kind of clean that up a little bit so whenever you click out of that, you always want to publish again just to make sure that it saves those changes in there and I also want to add an image in here. So at this point I'm going to click add content. If you add a photo, this is also a common question, it places the photos in a box all by themselves, possibly like a photo album to be kind of shuffled through. So a content box is a place to add an inline image that you can actually resize and place text around. So I'm this time I'm going to use the inline image so if you go up to these three dots right here, you can click on image and insert/edit image, this is where you find the spot where the image is. I'm going to click on that little arrow and I'm going to insert a photo of our academic data so our academic data speaks for itself. Anytime you have a photo you want to add small text to make it accessible for people who have a visual disability to be able to know what that photo is and then we click save at this point we can change the spacing or change the sizing to make it fit better. You can center it. You can wrap the text if you have some text. I'm going to leave it just like that and publish it but I did forget that I want to add a little heading for that photo. So I'm going to add another content box here and say "Our data speaks for itself" and I'm going to send her that and make it also a smaller header. At this point you know just to change the order you have these dots over here and we can just drag that right there and click publish and so lets you know kind of get there's a couple ways to look at the live view, you can go up here to see public view under the actions drop down. The easiest way is to just click on this little link right here and as soon as you hover over it the link will show up and you can click on it. And here we we can see what our enrollment spot is looking like okay so we still have somewhere to develop out so let's head back to our section. And the next thing that we we already talked about why ECP. Visit ECP is where you can place some, embed a Google map or some instructions or a form. So let's hop over to virtual tour because I want to show you how to embed a video so you know let's say your school has a really good video on and it's on YouTube and instead of just linking to that video you can actually get the video to show up on there so just give me one second to pull up a video. This is an example of one school that's done this. I'm just going to pause that. So to embed a video you go down to where it says share on YouTube and click this. What you're going to do is grab not the link to the YouTube video but you're going to click embed and as soon as we click embed we get an iframe code here so we're going to copy this and then we head back over to our virtual tour page and we want to embed this video so it just shows up right on the page and will click add and here we're going to use the same content box but I'm going to show you how to embed some code okay so do you see these two little triangles right here-- little arrows-- when you hover over that it says source code when I click on that and I'm going to select that and then I'm going to paste the iframe code, click save and then the video shows up right on the page and I'll center it, publish, very simple process. So now whenever we go back to our enrollment spot. To our live view, as soon as you click on virtual tour people will have a video that they can go straight to okay so you know really we're really building up this this section here. Before we close I want to show you you know begone with step 3 what will you do with this section? You know, you've developed this out-- really really quickly I want to show you how to embed a PDF because I think it's one of my favorite features that we have here so I'm going to click add files and here you have the option, this is super cool, you can make a collapsible so that the the person has to actually click on it so it is a great way to add a lot of content to a page without making it a long scroll. For this one we're just going to choose upload, you could also just drag which I think a lot of us are familiar with doing so I'll just show you that. We have this wonderful PDF of FAQs beautifully done so you can do this to highlight your school. If you just upload the file it's going to show as an image, as a name here, instead of actually showing the document as soon as you head over here to your three dots you have options of how large you can make this document. This is probably a little bit too small we recommend the largest size and then as soon as I click publish and we head to our live view, then you can see how easy it is for a parent to scroll through on their mobile you know maybe sitting in the carpool line and be able to find out as much information as they can just scrolling through a beautiful document like that. So before we move over to the site navigation again we have this beautiful section built out. Go back to your hamburger menu here and you're going to scroll down to Site Management >> Site Navigation This is where we're doing the step where we're placing the content at this point all you've done is created it, you've clicked on the link to see it but when you look at your home page, so far there's no way for anybody to access that so we go to our admissions drop down right now it's empty right the others have things placed/attached in them so I'm going to show you really quickly how to place that content. There is, I'll show you this first, there's an easier way of doing it but you could go straight to site navigation and click new item and but what I'm going to do that's actually starting a new container so just one second. We've got our admissions container we're going to place those items in that container so we're going to click new item and since we've already created those pages, that section, we're going to type in what we want it to be called. This is where you get to choose maybe you want to call it how to apply or some people call it Enrollment Spot so we're just going to call it enrollment spot and we're going to select a section to attach the entire section so that people will be taken there. So we're going to click on enrollment and we want to keep it in the same menu because it's on the same site so let's close that box and click save. I needed to delete this really quickly. So another thing you know if you wanted to attach the virtual tour watch and say watch a virtual tour here that's another great thing to put under the drop-down. You can put the individual items there as well so soon as we click save we're going to head back over to our CMS and do a hard refresh a few times and at this point you've just completed step 3 and you're ready for communication to happen. Your visitors can now go to your admission spot and they can click here and find everything that they need as many details as you can. We are kind of running short for time but just really quickly let me show you. You could also place a form in site navigation but instead I'm going to show you how to add that to your section. So let's hop back over here to page management and open up our admissions category in our enrollment section and now when I click new page I'm going to show you how to add a feature page so I'm going to click on form right here and I know that I have an application. Here we go, ECP application for enrollment and I'm going to open that as a new tab and click save so now on my enrollment spot I now have a form that people can access directly in that I would probably if I could do that again I would create that in the same window. So, heading back over here, the last thing I want to show you really quickly is there are so many things that I wanted to cover-- in Site Navigation-- as I told you, you could go directly there but you could also do you see this icon right here this means that it's already attached in site navigation but let's say we want to attach our application very quickly. If you click on these three dots right here, you can simply add it to site navigation and what it does is it send you right over there and sometimes you have to scroll and drag that page into the correct, right it didn't place it into the correct category so you have to find that so now I just lost it. So let me do that one more time because I think it got lost Add to site navigation so now before I close this I'm going to drag it into the enrollment admissions spot. So as soon as we drag those dots and I'm going to scroll out just a little bit I'm going to place it right there and I'm going to click save and now this application can be found under my drop down menu soon as I do a hard refresh. You can also place widgets on your page that something, as we're closing here, help.edlio.com Oh my goodness, you can find so many things here that to help you with Pages if you go up here to help articles and you scroll down to Pages: Manage Pages, this give you a full overview of so many things that I wasn't able to cover today. You can also click get help and reach out to someone in support. Your Client Success Specialist, you have a very unique scenario at Edlio where you're assigned someone that's there for you always. You don't have to start from scratch with someone. We get to know your pages and we're able to help you the best way so please give us an opportunity to kind of step back and look at the bird's-eye view of your website.
