Greetings to all of you and welcome to today's MyEdlio webinar. We're very very thankful that you joined us today. My name is Misty Rosenberg and I'm a Client Success Specialist with Edlio and joining us today we're very lucky to have Sergio Flores who is on the Tech Support team and he will be available with any questions throughout the webinar that might arise. As we are starting please test your audio to make sure that you can hear and as always a video will be provided on our edlio help center within 1 to 2 days after the webinar. So as you're participating and you think of someone at your district or school who might have questions about Google Integrations or be the person in charge of setting up these integrations, please make sure that you go to to help.edlio.com and grab the link to share this presentation after the webinar. Ans also, our Q&A panel make sure that you can find that in your Zoom toolbar this is where you can ask any questions before, during and after the webinar and we will try to answer as many as we can. If we don't get to your question we will follow up by email after the webinar. So, here at Edli our goal is to help you master your online presence. So specifically with our Google integrations our goal is to build your trust so we find out what things you need and we try to fulfill them the best way possible and one of the ways we're talking about today is the way that we have set up features throughout our Edlio CMS that integrate with what you are doing on Google already. So today what we're going to talk about we will talk about our Google SSO options. Also Office 365, we'll talk about that, that add a simple extra layer of security. We will actually integrate a Google classroom and show how both Google classroom and the calendar will push visitors back to your CMS so our goal is to push people back to you your website, not to send them away off on other platforms but to push them back to you. We'll talk about tips and tricks for keeping parents in the loop by subscribing to Google classes and about the daily digest emails that they receive and finally we will go over how Edlio helps you sign up for a Google analytics account and track site traffic through Google API so before we move on to our webinar today I just wanted to remind you on Wednesday we will be talking about Communication 101 and specifically all of the things that you can do on your CMS for emergency notifications, our School News app any type of pop-up or widgets best practices. We'll talk about connecting pages to your news items using email sender and finally some details about being subscribed to page what that looks like. So for now let's jump into our dashboard and I'm just going to pull this screen over and if you're following Along on your CMS you can just pull open your dashboard and mine might look a little bit different from yours and I just want to tell you a little bit why. I'm logged in right now as a teacher and so what we'll talk about first is kind of with the teacher login with Google classroom. So actually let me log in as an administrator as we begin here because I want to first show you a little bit about the Google Calendar details so give me just one moment to grab the screen. [typing] [typing] and so specifically a few details about why it's important why having a Google Calendar integration helps you with your Edlio site. So here I am logged in as an administrator as a web admin and you can see the difference my dashboard is has a more options here so specifically with that we're just going to click on calendars here as we begin and our Edlio calendar, you can manually add events, you can have multiple calendars set up. So specifically with the Google Calendar we're going to go to our hamburger menu and scroll down to Site Management and up to settings. You can also access settings through your calendar tab. We're going to click now in settings on the calendars spot and here you can see you have multiple different calendars that you can add here so for example, you might have an Athletics calendar, if you're a district you might be connected to all of your school calendars on your District site within the same school you might have grade-level calendars or extra curricular for theater or other things going on so when you click on this drop-down right here this will show you all of the calendars that you have attached to your Edlio calendar so specifically whenever I have Zero-- Academic Year Calendar selected, these are all of the settings below that pertain to that specific calendar so right now you can tell by going to this tab right here, Calendar Integration and you can see that there is a Google Calendar attached to Academic Year Calendar so that means anytime on my Edlio calendar page on my homepage that view will have events pulled from a Google calendar so I can I have some options here I can remove the calendar, I can sync now if I just added some events and integrating the calendar is a very easy process as well. Let me find a calendar that doesn't have so for example, this is my PTO calendar I don't have any calendar attached to it so therefore the only thing that's working right now is adding manual items on my CMS so as soon as I click connect a Google Calendar or Office 365 should you choose that one this will pull my information. So if this is not me then I would choose switch account and connect my Google account and very easy process here for connecting and pulling items onto your Google calendar so the purpose of this is simplicity and a way to howcase your school in a detailed way because you have multiple people providing services in your school and so making sure that everybody has a chance to add their events to the page so really quickly I want to show you a little bit about Google SSO-- single sign-on-- and adding a layer security on to your page on to your website that also makes it a much more simple log in process. So I want to show you what the login screen looks like give me just one second to pull up another site. [typing] [typing] and we have one moment I'm pulling up a site here where there I don't yet have a Google account attached to it so I'm going to show you what that would look like so as soon as you set up Google SSO and it's a very easy process we have some steps on a help center page, this is something that tech support can walk you through whether on a zoom call or on the phone and as soon as Google SSO is set up your screen your login screen will look a little tiny bit different so whenever you go to your login screen you would click sign in with Google and here if you have not yet logged in you will have to choose an account and just like always you choose an account and here is the window where you will kind of connect an existing edlio account to the Google account and once you go through this it's a very easy process for signing in. So our Help Center has a couple different pages here that walk you through the process with some screenshots, answer some questions, how to set it up and also this one right here to show you this is good if you're walking other faculty and staff through the process you can send them this page where they can sign in it will ask for credentials in the screen I just showed you. So some troubleshooting here specifically not using your Super Admin account to bind a Google SSO account there. So Edlio really tries to make this easier for you. The next thing that we're going to talk about today is Google classroom and specifically this past year as we moved into a much more virtual model/blended model of education we see a lot of people using Google Classroom not only a little bit but primarily for delivering these kind of assignments to their students so we at Edlio have improved our features for Google Classroom so if you go to again to our dashboard now I'm going to close out my web admin login and show you again being logged in as a teacher so as a teacher what the teacher view will look like again I just want to familiarize you with my teacher pages real quick. So anytime someone connects a Google Classroom if it's really important for them to already have a series of teacher pages set up so the way that they find those I went kind of fast there you go to page management and over two pages. As a web admin, the way that you would find out how many pages a teacher has built already you can go through this person's profile and User Management to see kind of whenever you click on Edit Pages you would be given you would be directed to this page right here that shows this is my public link and these are all of the pages that are under Mrs Misty Flowers. Again, as Misty Flowers this teacher she would go to her pages and Category Pages are the pages that Misty has been given access to, editing privileges, so she'll want to click on Personal Pages to find her Teacher Pages here, okay. So and somehow I've been logged back out as an admin. Give me just one second Okay, so now. Misty's Teacher Pages here let's look at the live view of these pages so what Google Classroom does on Edlio sites we make it possible for any Google classroom assignments to show up on the Edlio site so multiple benefits for parents that we'll talk about a little bit today but first I just want to talk about it from the teacher side the benefits from the teacher. The teacher is not copying and pasting assignments back and forth but they are they automatically sync every day and any time something is posted on Google classroom, for example we're going to go to the English 2 First period class Anytime this teacher posts an assignment it will automatically show up on the class page so this is English II- First Period and this is the page that the parent and the student both have access to so a parent whenever they log on to their go to the public website, they can, they have some options here. They can subscribe by email to this page specifically, so not just subscribing to the teachers landing page but only to this period. Because this is the class that their son or daughter are in and anytime an assignment is posted on the Google Classroom page for example there's an assignment posted. Let me actually go to second period because I believe... Just give me one second. Okay, so anytime that teacher posts an assignment it will show up on this page. Whenever the parent has subscribed, the parent will receive a daily digest email and I want to show you what that email will look like. [typing] [typing] so if a parent has a student in multiple different classes or even more than one student in the same school or district with Edlio sites, anytime they subscribe by email, what Edlio does is consolidate all of those assignments into one email, one daily digest email. So if a parent subscribes they won't be getting 7 or 8 or 12 emails a day, they'll be getting one email which has all of the assignments consolidated together I want to show you what this would look like. I'm having trouble finding this. Give me just one second. [typing] okay I'm going to have to post that later because for some reason the format has changed in this email that I was previously using so this email, you know, would include all of the assignments for the parents so let's go back to the teacher view so right now this teacher has you know like most high school teachers multiple class periods of the same class and you know Google Classroom would be different for each of those class periods. However this semester this teacher has added Journalism 101 as a class and you can see that that the only one that doesn't have the Google Classroom icon next to it so we're going to click on that class. So far we don't have any assignments showing up here and if a parent has subscribed by email they're not receiving anything from Google Classroom yet so there's some steps that this teacher has to take before the parent even sees anything from the Google Classroom so we'll go first first over to back to the class page for Journalism 101 and you always want to make sure that your class description on your Google Classroom page is in place before, it will always override the course description on your Edlio page. So for example if you have something typed here the Google Classroom description will override that so we're going to go over to the this little gear icon in Google Classroom in that specific class and this is where we're going to add our course description. Okay so for Journalism 101 I'm just going to copy this from another page. This is my course description, exactly what this class will do. I'm going to click save. This is also where the teacher gets the code that he or she will put on to the the Google Classroom code so that a student can make sure to join the appropriate Google class. So as soon as I click save here, I'm going to go back over to my journalism page but I've got a couple of other things I have to do. As a web admin, I'm sure that we have some web admins on this webinar today, something that's really really important for you to do is to make sure before your teachers start connecting their Google Classroom over, you have to make sure that the correct term is chosen so I'm going to show you how you can do that when I'm locked back in as a web admin because this is one of the one of the reasons why sometimes teachers will have issues trying to get their Google Classroom integrated so we really want to help you avoid that as much as possible. So, here I am I logged in as a web admin and I'm going to go up here to my hamburger menu and scroll down to classes and down to terms and as a web admin, you need to make sure that the current term is the appropriate date so that that teacher, can that the window that that teacher's trying to include classes from fits into that term if you want your teachers to start adding their fall terms, you need to make sure that the the term showing here includes the fall date so we always recommend don't start your term you know, the first week of school but make sure you start some weeks before because most teachers will be working on their assignments ahead of time, right? So you know we've verified everything fits into this term so now we're going to go back and connect the journalism class to Google Classroom. So the way that you're going to do this and a teacher can do this on her own she's going to go to classes under the hamburger menu and I'm going to refresh again and all classes and you always need to choose a department so the tenth grade team, these are the classes that fit into this is the department that I fit into. I'm going to click on Journalism and I'm going to click save so it makes sure that it fits into the correct term and click save. ...and we're waiting for the class to integrate. There we go, so now whenever I back to academic departments, back to my pages and I've been logged in as an a web admin so just give me one moment to log out and back in as a teacher. [typing] and here when I go to my classes, I will have journalism showing up. I'll be able to pull my classes from journalism now. So I click next I add myself to the Department and it's important for you to remember that web admins can't integrate a Google classroom for a teacher but the teacher needs to do it while logged in to his or her own Google classroom. That's always an important thing to note. So now we're going to go back to the teacher page and Page Management. And now Journalism 101 is showing up as a Google Class so what that means and I just want to show you real quick on the back end here, with Google classes if you ever have assignments not showing up there and you'd like for them to show up, you can click update now. For example, if you just posted something at the beginnning of class and it hasn't yet done the auto-sync, you can always click update now and so now what we see when we go to Journalism 101 is we've pulled the automatic course description and let's see about the assignments. I think I'm going to click update now here and I believe the assignments are showing right here. So now any parent who subscribe to that page would would receive these assignments in their daily digest and be able to access those so you know keeps a kind of a stronger connection between parents and teachers. I know when I was a teacher I had some parents on my Google Classroom pages but most preferred to just receive assignemnts and it was a much more complicated process for me to notify them of the Google Classroom assignments, so a few other tips here before we move on to the next point here, parents benefit from this because they get to stay in the loop and know what's going on and as we all know family engagement is one of the top predictors to student success so what we do here at Edlio is we help give parents the right questions to ask their students whenever they see them in the car, whenever they are around the dinner table at night. So Google Classroom is a wonderful tool please reach out to your Client Success Specialist or to support@edlio.com if you have any issues with understanding what the process would look like but we believe it's a very quick and easy process. So closing here, let's talk just really quickly about Google Analytics. So the process of setting up Google Analytics, we we want to make it easier for you to analyze the traffic different areas of your site so that you'll you know which parts of your CMS to maybe post more often to, to highlight through your news so what happens is you will first add a, create a Google analytics account and then you would be given a tracking ID and so we have some steps on our Help Center to show you kind of what that process would look like. So you would be given a tracking ID which you would then go in on to your site, give me one second, and you would go to site management, your Hamburger Menu, Site Management and up to Settings and you are going to find the tab that says APIs and in APIs what you would do here is you've already created your Google Analytics profile, you would enter it here and your tracking ID and at this point you would you would have an account and I believe it takes a week for you to for I apologize for Google to gather data and when one of the articles in our help center walks you through understanding the data, so specifically there's there's I believe a Google extension that you can put on to your browser that will help you understand the data that is pulled specically from all traffic to your site and Google analytics would within what you could do is talk with your Client Success Specialist and we can strategize together which parts of your CMS people are looking for and maybe wanting more. So this is something that definitely will help you make the most out of your experience with Edlio and finally the last thing I want to talk about with Google. Google Drive has always been an option when you upload files to your Edlio website so we see more and more people using Google drive to store files rather than using their computer and having to move and it's a much quicker process so again whenever you are uploading onto a page either a photo or a file and you click upload now. This is something that we've had for a long time. You can go to Google Drive and it will pull directly from your Google account.
