With most schools and districts operating with distance learning procedures in place, it can be tough to figure out how to transition your school or district to an online learning environment. I ruined thanks so much for joining us today today we're going to be chatting about how to make your edlio website of distance Learning Hub just show you some of the features give you a little bit a rundown of Ed Leo and also show you in the same as how we would update some of these areas so you can also submit your questions there's going to be a little Q&A on your screen so if you want to ask any questions just go ahead and click on that and then we will have someone from the edlio team and answer those questions for you also if we don't get to all of the questions will be sure to shoot you an email afterwards so a little bit background on edlio WE power over 15,000 schools and have been around 19 years it is our mission to make the lives of Educators easier through are approachable technology are CMS is very easy to use and it is universal across all of our websites so we exclusively focus on K through 12 and like I said there's over $15 in schools across across our country and even some internationally are websites are super accessible and are feature-rich CMS the content Management Systems is super easy very straightforward to use anyone can hop right makes the updates quickly and then your website will have updated content where ada-compliant so they're also going to be responsive with our website which is a great plus especially remote learning often times people may be using desktop computers laptops or mobile devices and we have our ongoing support with our tech support teen you can send it to court cases 24 hours a day 7 days a week and then every account comes with a dedicated client success specialist your client success specialist will be the individual that you'll go to what do you have any general questions need some help updating an area of the CMS or of course if new point of contacts come on board and they need to get a training schedule so we have quite a few you easy to use built-in tools that bring you Taylor's I'm specifically for distance learning it helps make that transition from regular in school to the at home. Easier so we have are easy to update new section the new section is going to be a place a place where you can post it a news article any sort of announcement was just a click of a button it's going to go ahead and be pushed to your homepage and any of the other devices that you have that you have attached to it including our school we have a social media manager that I'm posting those news articles you can push to your Facebook and your Twitter instantly and so that news article will be pushed across two different platforms are videos with auto closed captioning once you upload the videos you have the opportunity to go in there you can view the closed captioning and make any necessary edits we also have what we call our teacher pages and the teacher pages going to be individualized for each individual teacher that they can go in and they can really customize the look of their personal teacher page they can integrate with Google Classroom if and parents and students can also subscribe to each individual class page and teacher page so at the end of the day you'll be getting a job email that tells you all of the updates. have been made on the teacher pages calendars for the homework homework and assignments page to you at the end of the day we also have our pop-up alerts are home page pop-up alerts are a great way to get any important information across and most recently a lot of our schools have been using our news and social me and pop-up alerts to highlight the graduating class of 2020 so each day they'll post a new article with a handful of students focusing on what their plans are moving forward after graduation so now what we'll do is we'll go ahead and we will show you some of these modules in the CMS and how they actually work good afternoon can you hear me I think our audio is working good afternoon my name is Misty Rosenberg and I would love to speak with you just give me one moment to make sure that my screen is being shared right now what I'm going to do today is go over some of the features that schools can use to enhance the remote learning experience let's just jump right in as you can see this is our dashboard so this is what your webadmin any kind of user would see there is a very specific view that a teacher would use which I will show you on toward the end of the webinar so for now let's go to the hamburger menu and we will go to the module announce where as Ashley mentioned this is the place where you can send out news and alerts to your community so you can click on an ounce and click on news and alerts I would love to give you some examples of specifically for remote learning of course when school's in session and we're all at the school building together news and alerts can be used for kind of games events that are happening for now during this kind of unique phase news and alerts can be used for something like some schools have a weekly plan this is our theme going on this week these are the classes that will be featured a lot of schools right now we're featuring their class of 2022 make sure that we can highlights throughout the remaining weeks the students in the best way to that we can virtually they're all so this is a great place for pushing out updates from District regarding things like grades or grab-and-go lunches is a wonderful service a lot of schools are doing for their Community during this time one other thing you could do is do something like feature teacher where you have for example mrs. Compton is using the parent engagement app edlio engaged to bridge the gap between our families and their virtual classroom so you could take a screenshot of a zoom meeting and this is a way to show your community how hard your teeth are working and how dedicated they are to keeping students motivated during this time you could also add Community News things that are happening in the community are very relevant for students and their families the new section is a good place when there is a zoom link for a large group of people or kind of essential home where people can go another thing here is to post something during this kind of wrap up Time season to create a habit and look in the last week's where you can set a notification on your phone and you could also delegate different faculty members to kind of post a news alert from their perspective and report on what's Happening from from pain of their point of view is that is another great idea this unique time so let's look at a news item that I I created it's called Battle of the books where I would love to tell my community that there will be a prize of a $100 Amazon gift card I'm a former English teacher and I love finding creative ways to get my students and Community to read so the first thing that you do when you create a news alert is a show you that again you can click add news to start a new one and you create a headline you create a short summary some text that will appear under the headline home page and on each news item you have options to insert some sort of content and here we would like to post a photo and as Ashley mentioned we are very ADA Compliant and we whenever you post a photo you can enter all text and this ensures that if there's anyone viewing your site who is has a visual disability that this person would be able to hover over the image and know exactly what's going on in that phone so we click save and we want to make it a little bit bigger you can insert text in line with photo another thing that you can do is link to a file or you could link to a page during this time so we're going to scroll down if I'm going to post from another source this is an opportunity for me to put the source name and length and hear another thing that I'd like to do for this post is to add a flyer with more information and then I'm going to go back up here and say for more information so as we scroll down you have a few options for delivery you can post now or you could have it post at a a prime-time when you know that your community would be able to to focus on this so we're going to post it now and because we have our all text ADA compliance enabled we need to go find the photo that means out so let's add book flyer epic face and now when we click save again our news item will show up the news and alerts list so this is where all of your items that you have created will be has whenever you hover over each one you can edit that news-item you can announce it which will go over in just a moment you can delete it or you can disable it whenever you disable a news item it will go into this section right here where if you for example every year you have a battle of the books you can disable the news item so for now has quick got enough because there's a variety of options that you have that will happen automatically with chester button to share news in lots of different places so you can push news automatically to your social media you can create a homepage alert which will do in just a moment you can send out a broadcast you can send out a text alert or a voice message where you can make sure that people if they don't have internet service that they would be able to receive that message + app alerts a final one is to send out an email of this news item so for now let's create a homepage alert and we want it to expire are in June because this is the last day of the battle of the books I'm so as soon as we click post we will you can see that now the alert is turned on and we will continue back over to our homepage click refresh and now our page pop-up is something that any visitor to the site would have no choice but to see if they can choose okay don't show again or read the full sorry this is what the news item would look like so as we continue back over to news and alerts just remember that during this time remote learning there's many many things that you can push to your community and you have lots of different options with the Sao content management system the next item I would love to show you is the so if you go down to your hamburger menu and you go to page management pages this is a place where your pages are stored internally for any who's using your site and right now I'm logged in as an administrator and so I'm going to log out and show you what it would look like to be logged in as a teacher but teachers dashboard is a little bit more limited than the administrators dashboard so let's go to our hamburger menu and again we're going over to pages and this will be just that particular teachers pages so this is what it would look like internally for that teacher to organized and fill his or her pages and I'd like to show you what it would look like from the Publix from the visitors perspective so the teachers page has a landing page where it's kind of a welcome page to say this is my this is how many years I've been teaching here a little bit me this is the Hub where you can find everything that that that is connected to that teacher for example I also run the rush Club so you can go to my section menu and find any of the clubs that I'm connected with I also I would put all of my classes into the section menu and you can click on that particular class and find any assignments and posts listed on this page a Google Classroom integration so any classes that I'm connected with you can find under classes such a space quickly let me show you how to add a page I'm going to open a page for a Harry Potter book club but the first thing that you do to add a page is click the blue button and click on blank page to create up a page from scratch link to another page and there's some other features as well so once you click on the page and I will open a previously created dress it's very simple as a former teacher this is something that I would have love to be able to do so easily because this this give teachers the ability to do what they do best is create content in a very creative an amazing way so when you click on this box you have lots of formatting options you can hyperlink you can add photos by clicking on this drop down box ad so you have the option of adding content you can add photos and you can add files as you can see for one of my English 1 classes I added a an ebook so this is a great place to add PDF files for your students to use so we created a Harry Potter book club and once we click publish very quick and easy process this will show up on my section menu Harry Potter book club and students and their families can go here and join the book the first discussion for the Harry Potter book club and it also gives instructions for going to the library page another thing you could do on your admin site is linked to page foresight so that you make sure that students know how to get there so at this point Ashley will be joining us to discuss some more features to help with distance learning alright everyone thank you for the honesty so you can see now that I am logged in as an administrator so while Missy was showing you what it looks like from the teacher's point of view can see that as an administrator there are quite a few more modules that you have access to going to be the area where as an administrator you can universally update anything on the website we're at teachers only have access to their personal pages so let's go ahead and talk about some of the other popular features that people have been using this time of year while we're doing remote learning and we're wrapping up the school year one great option is the our videos and audios feature you can access any of the modules either from the desktop here orc from the hamburger menu here two ways to get to the same place so if we come to media and videos and audio this would be a place where if you had graduation videos any Class party videos that you wanted to add you would simply come in here add new video or audio file it'll show you exactly what's accepted and then the title to screw the alternative text and the closed captioning option once everything is saved it's going to go ahead and come here in this list so should you have a featured video on your homepage you can simply select featured and that's going to be the video that auto-plays on your homepage another great option right now is we're going to come over here to page management again and I'm going to show you another option of how you can link two videos if you don't happen to have them saved on your computer you can absolutely went to out outside sources so I'm going to come here to our pages and Page management we're going to highlight our teacher appreciation week so here you can see that with in this category I've created the teacher appreciation week and then we have of all of our Pages here so just like with B with a personal page for the teacher pages I made a wealth landing page for our teacher appreciation week for highlighting you can save this looks exactly like the teacher module does and when you click publish it go ahead it will go ahead and become live and also with in this particular section add a variety of items we clicked a new page it's going to show you you're the same page options and then also we have our feature page options which are really great to add to that particular section with want to highlight those those features within that one topical section and then you can see here this little guy here it's telling us that we also enter this into our site navigation so when you create a page you're going to have to tell it where you want it to go so in this case we wanted to highlight the teacher appreciation week and I want to put it in a couple of different places so I have it linked in the site navigation so we talk to our life site we can come to our site navigation there lynx and then we come back here do a couple of refreshes you can see our pop-up alert we come to our teacher appreciation page that we've linked into our site navigation and now you can see all of our pages with our section menu we have the option for a calendar this is going to be the teacher calendar for the section so this is specifically Taylor towards our a teacher appreciation week we also can add links if we want to hear going to link to an outside source and then we also have the option to as you saw when we were adding a new page to link to another page and this is where I went to art teacher appreciation video so we would come here to our Facebook and then we have our video here what's another way to get additional information across and to associate all of your social media to your edlio website another great way to get this information across is to use our home page and because we're highlighting teachers right now I want to go ahead and makes us very obvious on the homepage so I'm going to add a button on our home page we give it a title and then that you are all that we copied from our page here we click save changes now when we come back to the life site refresh a couple of times you will see that now we have our homepage widget here so when we click on the button we're then taken directly to this section that we really want play featuring this is also a great way if you have a section set up for the graduating class you can absolutely do the same thing so now as we come back to our main page it's also is showing you anywhere on the homepage that this lives that's where it's going to show up there we also have the option of using a form widget in the form widget a great way to collect information from your community and push that all into contact list so you can have the contact list and then you can go ahead and send all that info out and that contact list will live in Arkansas module so if you're pushing out a news and announcements to the email you can absolutely associate those contact list together we can simply delete that it's gone we're good finally we also have one great way to Spotlight some features is going to be through the spotlight messages and you can see here we have one set up for our senior of the day so very much like all of the news articles you'll have your content you can add a photo so you can see her when we come to our homepage that Spotlight is here and when we click on read more we are given our spot light for our senior of the day we could also principals message or a school motto or any sort of information that you feel is important to get across
