so I finally before we jump in there also we will talk about different methods for linking back and forth between the district in the child's sight so as we start here start with our methods of linking back and forth between site so we are going to let me open up one more site so these are our most but I'm I'm going to show you how you can link from a School site on a district site so give me one moment so I've got my site which is every o college prep and my high school which is a part of the district thank you for your patience I apologize for the wait okay Salon hour on our admin safe here we have a an athletic spot this is what I want to show you so Alvarado High School has a really great athletic spot that we want to highlight at the district level so we're going to go to this page from the back end and Alvarado High School athletics and I'll show you a couple sites that I've seen medley of clients that do really well you know this is what it looks like on the URL view you know we have a Athletics spot here we've moved our section menu so that be a specific sports are showing up at the top instead of in the side column which is a very easy option I can show you where you switch the layout so you can actually make your inside Pages almost like their own website so you better lay on the inside page and instead of selecting the top three options here you're going to you're going to select one of the bottom options that has a box up here for you to add a hero image and also too in this hero image you can also add a section menu so that's what we've done we've moved our section and you up here let me just show you really quickly how we do that I'm just flight that so I can have my section menu here by just clicking add section and you act like I just did but you can also add I'm just going to remove that so I can show you exactly how I added that quick add and the top part section in you and as soon as we publish the section menu will show up at the top and now you can see but so have it on the side some people like to have both of those turned on so we have this beautiful section where it's linking to a page actually housing a page for each of the sports and we'd like to highlight this on the district site so I'm going to grab the link for this page right here and I'm returning to my district site so now that I've returned here I would like to add High School spot to our activities dropped out so districts I hear we have some drop-down menus under activities I'd like to connect bat 2 hours athletic teams so I'm going to first create a section for this I'm going to go to page management pages and instead of digging around just going to search for it and click on the section level of District Athletics and here I'm just going to open up this landing page that I have in the section and in District Athletics you have a couple options here you can go back one level we could add a page that is a link to another page because we already have this beautiful section built so we're just going to link to this page and I'm going to call it Alvarado High School athletics and I'm going to link to and I'm going to open it as a new tab because it's been on a different site so now whenever I return to The District athletic section here now I see Alvarado High School in the section menu so that's one way you can add a school length to districts now it's like to go into my site management site navigation which houses my drop down menus and I'm going to make sure that that section is connected under activities because I want people to be able to go to activities and yes this is already connected I'm just going to show you how I did that so under activities what I did as I clicked new item my name's this item whatever I'd like to it doesn't have to have the same name as the page you could also give it a more distinct name so I'm going to click on our our school athletic teams to open up this little spot and you can connect a sectional page if I wanted to connect the URL from the direct URL link to the other side I would select you are out and I would taste the I'm actually going to stay with Paige if you have a file you could directly attach a PDF or a Word document and feature page this is a way to attach one of our features for example if I have a District athletic calendar I can attach a calendar there a specific football calendar so you can also attach feature Pages there without having to recreate them are we just going to keep it the way that it was before and that's a great way to link to that so show I just showed you how to link on the site navigation and also how to link Within inside page so that now we have Eldorado High School athletics a direct link to our High School site there so finally I just want to show you a schools that does a really good job of I had a really great way to create their athletic spot for their middle school and definitely they could use the spot to make a grab the direct link or link to this on their District site okay so here they have all of their Sports listed categorize with in fall or winter with in season so when you step back one level on to their Athletics page this is their landing page these are all of their pages in that section so that's a great way to connect this to your fight close a couple of my items ear and head back to our district College Prep sites another way you can keep on your community in the loop with a lot of you already do is by using the calendar feature so there's some best practices for events there's some schools that I'd like to show you that are at Leo clients that have do a great job of highlighting district and school events so when we go to Prince George County Public Schools we will you know you can scroll down and go straight to their calendar spot upcoming events and when you click on show all events when you get here you see all of the school calendars are connected on the district level there is a way you just have to send in an email to client success Specialist or submit a case to tech support there is a way to choose any of these calendars by the so this is the district-level so there's they're opening by default the events and the school board meetings calendar however if you were to go to one of their schools you would see a this time instead of scrolling all the way down to calendar if it's just going to use this quick link button way off to the side I hope you can see so when we click on events here now we have only j e j Moore Middle School events that you can also if you choose to you could also see the district events and I'm going to show you how this can be set up using our demo site you're so when we scroll down to site management and then up to settings and then we're going over to calendar so we have these are your calendar study and you can add a new calendar by clicking add calendar and give it a new name and this if you have example if J E J Moore is a gook calendar you can automatically integrate and connect that Google Calendar on the district-level okay so there's this is exactly how you will make sure that whenever I call down to my calendar i options to my events show all events but I get to choose which calendars are showing up here and I give my community lots of options here and you can also is like as I mentioned you can choose which ones open by default if you'd like your Athletics calendar to open by default another great Milford has a the district calendar shows school events that parents can join from another school so this is great for making sure that people are Bobby Elementary School know about an elementary event happening in one particular school so let's go to their events calendar and will click show all events and here is for examples my child as a student at Thayer elementary school but I want to also know about Middle School events I could click Milford middle school events and now these would populate on on the page so that's enough really great way of doing that please reach out to your client success specialist for any help with that also our help center I'm just going to show you our calendars spot because this is a great place to I'm walking through setting up events and setting up exactly how your calendars will interact with each other so you can go to calendars and you can walks you through importing your calendar and also about school calendars and please some if there any questions let us know the next thing I'd like to talk about is using your news and alerts section so if you want to go to your hamburger if you're following along and now news and alerts and I've seen a lot of great size that have a district that is posting news events that are happening at school I've also seen the opposite where a school will post news items for the district and a lot of times that's a quick and easy copy and paste of a URL so if for example there's a lockdown drill at 10 on Wednesday and I posted this at my district site you no more like this is going to be posted at a at a specific School each of these links once you click on it or you could go to the live site to grab the URL has a link that attach to it that can be usually grab okay so we're going to click show all news and for this particular site we can click on this if you are working in the district in a market or you know some type of communications capacity this is a great way to let people know you could just copy that link and head back over to your District site where you can then I know I'm on the same side but you I'm done go to announce news and alerts and create a new item very very easily also if you'd like to push through apple or we talked in our last Bernard about the school news app how many times you post a news item there's a variety of things that you can do with your news items you hover over the announce button let's do this with our lockdown drill and once you open this this shows you all of the options you can push that particular news item to social media and if this is your District site you would be posting the come to your District social media but if you have you can go to your school sites to grab the same social media link and push that you could also post that is homepage alert and from the district-level whenever a homepage alert is created and posted it overrides anything that's happening on the school level so this will if this is great for emergencies because the district would be able to override anything happening on homepage alerts on any of the school sites so we can definitely give you more information about that if you have any broadcast is an add-on feature that right now everyone has a free trial to testing out test drive and see if they like that you can push a news item directly to broadcast with gives you allows you to push one message three different ways via voice text and phone call with the click of one button very very convenient people are loving our broadcast platform how late is the one I want to talk about real quickly you post the news item on your district and you can push this through app alerts to your school is out for your District it's also possible to have a zoo news app for each of your school site so therefore what you could do there is you could share news and events categories so that the school news and events will show up on the district feed so there is definitely a way to create some new categories and if you reach out to your client success specialist we could definitely walk you through that easily send you some instructions for that finally let's talk really quickly about customized can your child sites and Beast besom customization features they don't even require a tech support case or a an appointment with one of our designers this is a way to take your child size unique without you don't having the tools all in your own hands so let me pull up again power off Alvarado High site sites with this one so the first one I want to talk about is you stop Navigation drop down so whenever you as you can see bees have different site navigation drop down you have complete control over renaming bees and UK reach out to your client success specialist to add another one for example this one has seven and this one has a little bit of space to add more so you can lay differently a lot of people don't know that these these buttons these drop them and use can also be a container so if I wanted to have about us the have items under underneath it like this about which would have some items but I could also make it so that about is clickable I'll show you really quickly how to do that go to site management site navigation so a lot of people like these to not just be a container that opens to other items but an actual link so here we've got our drop-down menus showing up inside navigation what you would do there as you would click on about open up right now it's a it's a container and so it says is an item that has no leaks and will not be clickable if you'd like to make it clickable you could take it directly to a page you could connect it to URL most people will do either page or URL for this one to open to one of these items are up a landing page that has a section there so that's definitely enough also we every most of our new sites have quick links whether it's a drop down menu up here were a series of buttons in where are sections that can be opened up to different spot so quick links this is a way to the feature different parts of your sight whenever you're in the mobile view these are very easy for your visitors to access as well so this is one site that one of our districts that has bury their schools have similar designs but they have different options so for example are there quick links are down here but if you go to there's one of their school sites you see a different design but I mean a similar design but different choices than their quick links and for quick links these can be easily switched out these are a tech support or an email to your client success specialist to change for example enrollment to be something totally different and so think about you know how you can help your child sites your school sites perhaps use different icons that are going to things that they're their Community is more interested in then what you would see on a district-level with different very different items different Nissan so also this school has a quick link for the district newsletter so this is you can also you know the goal is to increase traffic back and forth so that people can get all of their needs met so here on their quick link you click here and you go straight to their inside page which also has other options so they're not just getting that newsletter there thoughts from the superintendent and newsletter archive so good job Milford with very great strategies for that as well a spinal sample for this one this one has a link to the District home page you always want to make it very easy for people to get to the district so some people will even place the district apologizes sight navigation drop down takes people to the district or a quick link button for example right here District home page makes it very easy for people to get to the district site so another shout out this isn't an easy request via email to your client success specialist as well the next thing I want to talk about is how you can use your Shuffle spot right here to connect your District in school sites weather so we have a I'm at the site for a second so we have on I believe it's Mercedes Independent School District they are one of the best districts that I've seen it at utilizing their Shuffle as an interactive Shuffle which we talked about how we're going to walk through a quick example of how to do that on this site you can see the you know when you go to a different. They're posting items there at that are at the district level but you also have things about Pre-K 4 round up or items that are specifically pretending to school so on the School site they do the opposite where they will post interactive Shuffle item that will Point people back to the district level so I believe it's this one right here so some reopening whenever we click here were taken to the district site so very strong connections between the school in the district on this level as well another way to connect to provide items on the district level for your school does by the use of buttons and the site right here they've created a staff page and buttons that their staff at their schools can use internally by creating a button for form so that's it that's a great way to help your teachers at your school sites to be able to access things on your District site as well and obviously this page be easily taken to the school site or added in a drop-down menu for the school staff so these examples are showing a very strong relationship between the district level and the school Bible rain today just remember that your client success specialist is here to assist you with any kind of strategies sometimes it helps to have a you know a second set of eyes on your site from the outside perspective we can help you with if you have a strategy in mine and you don't exactly know how to a question about if you are a web admin on any of your sites you can be given a multi-site management access which means you can connect to all of your Elliott websites without having to go and log into each one so if you're curious about how to set this up your client success specialist could send you some instructions in The Help Center you can also type in bold site management and what would happen is your District you would have a drop down on your District admin site and under this drop-down you click on each of your school sites to go Direct play Baron already be logged in so this would save you lots of time and I see a question about creative and creating an interactive Shuffle so I'm just going to do that for you really quickly I have to do it from give me one second to pull up our site okay so this is a site that has a shuffle opposed to a video spot I'm going to quickly I can do this in about one minute so I did this at our last webinar so you can see this click here for covet Updates this is Shuffle photo that I slid right into the shuffle spot when you click there you go to our covid-19 okay so this is my admin site I'm going to scroll down to media and down to shuffle I have another photo ready over here so if my main homepage main Shopper you might have depending on your design name differently I'm going to open up that shuffle album and click on this photo right at the top upload media and here I already have a photo ready and I'm going to pull it from a folder okay so at the district level I want an ounce to my school's that I have this that there's a possibility of getting access to a calculator I'm going to add my ALT text which means that anyone with a visual disability can access this receive an audio message scrapping calculator update quick save what's you have that photo and there's a button right up here that says link so I'm going to click link and this is where you would enter the URL you would like look up to you and I'm very quick easy process I'm just going to type in Google here because I don't have trying to rush through so that I don't go over time so once I click save you can also viewed on life site I'll return to my site and refresh a few times and now I have this interactive Shuffle spots I have his photo that you can see that it's different because there's a hand that shows up on something be clickable so the arrow shows up in places that are not clickable still on my Shuffle when I'm ready to go to find out more about those interact the Kraken calendars calculator I would be able to click their some people will have their scroll set took a little bit faster so that people don't lose interest so you can also click on that transition spot here to change the duration so here we have are graphing calculators you have to test it out a little bit to get the sizing right for your specific design so that was helpful and B how to create an interactive Shuffle so any questions please pop
