You've created a beautiful new page with tons of pertinent information and you want to make sure this reaches as wide of an audience as possible. What do you do now? We'll show you the best ways to get this page in front of your entire school community by adding it to your Site Navigation, News, and Spotlight Message features.

Hi everyone thanks for joining us today my name is Cathy and I'm in the Client Success team here at Edlio. I'm also here today with my teammate Sergio from our Tech Support team and he's to answer any questions that you have so if you have questions feel free to ask them in the Q&A. Today's webinar is about how to add your pages to your site navigation, any widgets, news, spotlight messages, useful tips on utilizing cross-posting functionalities that can help drive more traffic to your page. So I want to first start with a rundown of the public facing site so the first thing is the drop-down menu site navigation I'm so I'm going to show you how to add your pages on the drop-down menu, we also had a recent enhancement to our button widgets so I'm going to show you how to link your page on your homepage widgets we also have quick links. If you have quick links I just want to mention briefly that you do have the ability to link some of these links to your pages that may need to go through your CSS, your Client Success Specialist, or the tech support team but if there is like a PDF that you are wanting to link to one of these quick links I do recommend that you add them to your page that way you can periodically update any PDF files or the page itself I'm also going to show you how you can link your page to the news and announcements. Sometimes maybe you have a beautiful page that you want to showcase on the news and announcements feature as opposed to using just the news and announcements featured tool editing area you can add your links to your calendar events So I'm going to show you how to do that as well as add a your page link to your Spotlight  message all right so I'm going to go ahead and get into my admin site I'm currently signed in as a web administrator so if you're a web administrator your dashboard looks very similar to this and all of the features that I'm going to be mentioning today is available to web administrators okay so the first thing I want to do is create my page so I'm going to first create a page that I can then link to my site navigation, news, spotlight message, etcetera, so it's the first thing I'm going to do is create a page and we do have other webinars that we've previously hosted and recorded on our Help Center and we have a great webinar that my colleague Ashley did on making beautiful pages so I definitely recommend that you check that out all right so I think I'm going to create my page in this category and then I'm going to add a page to my student fall activities section we're going to give this a title and then with pages of course you can choose your layout and I'm going to use one that has a hero image that I can add at the top when I add an image here add alt text all right so I have my image at the top of I have my title I'm going to go ahead and add my content so I have my text and I think I want to add some more images so I'm going to use that photo page block add alt text again okay so I have my images I do want to use a stacked layout for this one and then maybe I can add a button so what I'm going to do is I'm going to add a button to a form so we also I'm not going to cover the forms feature on this webinar but we also have previously recorded webinars on how to create a beautiful form that your community members can fill out I'm going to give it a title and then I'm going to copy the link to my form you want to paste it here have it open in a new tab and then go ahead and publish it all right so I have this page published, I want to view the public link alright so we have our page and then if I click on this button that are created I'm going to be taken to a form perfect so now I want to add this page I want to add this page to my drop down menu and that is that our future is called site navigation so from the admin site you can add it directly so you can just go here to add to site navigation or if you're on your dashboard let's use the hamburger menu, we can go to site management and site navigation all the containers and items that are on your home page drop down menu are listed below so just choose where you would like to add your page I'm going to add a new item underneath the activities container and I'm going to select a page and I'm going to search for the page created you can go and scroll to find the your a category is listed you have your sections here and you can do it like this and find your section and page or you can search so you have the option to link your entire section or just the page itself. For this I'm going to link the page I'm going to edit the text up here and I want to drag this to the top drag the six dots and after you placed the page make sure to save your changes and if there are any other items in your site navigation that you're ready to just kind of remove and clean up you can definitely delete them this is not going to delete the page itself is just going to remove it from the drop-down menu and for this if you wanted to open the section you could you could open the public view so I can go back I can go to the editing area of the page or I could do the public view and now that we have our okay so I'm going to refresh the homepage and now that we have that saved if we go to activities our page that we just added to our site navigation can be found here I'm going to go ahead and click on this and we are taken to the same page all right so now that we have our page listed in one of these drop down menus if I want to add a homepage widget I can definitely do so so that can be found in the admin site it's under page management homepage widgets okay so we have what I'm going to add is the button widget I'm going to add my button widget and you can just drag and drop to where you want this button to appear I think I'm going to add it right here give it a title and then we want to add the link so actually let me go and grab that link the link to the page and I'm going to add it here and I can either open the link as a new tab or open it in the same window and you can now you can decide to choose the position so this is a new feature enhancement to our widgets I'm going to choose the one that moves with the page and then you also have the style so the color of the styles will always be the colors that are currently on your your homepage so you have your primary and secondary colors that are assigned with your school specific design so those are the colors that are going to appear on the styling of the buttons I'm going to use a white one and I'm going to save my changes all right so I have my widgets here saved and now if we go to the homepage we have the widget that just added here and then the other one that was already there if I click here I'm taken to the page that I just linked and back on the homepage if I am if I'm the parent and I already viewed this information and I don't want to look at it I can always press on to click on that button and it'll minimize the widget To view it again you can simply click on this so that you can view it, so that is how you can add more information using the button widgets next I want to add a the page to our news and announcements so right now, for example, this news story if I click on this post I'm taken to the news article that's created in the news feature so if I go to if I go to announce and news and alerts we have this message here currently it's added here under the content area so it's taking you to the news feature I'm going to add a new news story here and I'm going to have it linked to the page that I just created give it a short text summary and instead of adding content I'm using the toolbar here since I already have my page created and saved I'm going to link to page and again I'm going to paste that URL and let me add a feature photo and then of course you have your delivery options you have your two delivery options where you can post now or you can post at a later scheduled date and time you can also have the post expire so this doesn't mean that's going to be removed from your news feature entirely it just removed it from the home page Oy so I have everything that I need I'm going to go ahead and save my changes so let's go back to the homepage and refresh it okay so here is the post that I just added to my news and if I click now on this link I'm going to be directed to the page that I created another common way that some schools highlight their spotlight messages when they have a lot of content, they'll add it to their spotlight message but they won't because you're kind of limited when you go click on this button to read more you can read the full message but you also have the ability to add your page to this button here to the call to action button so you can when you click on this you can have a direct to the page and how you can do that is if you go into if you go into announce and spotlight messages you'll find your spotlight messages that are displayed on your homepage and you can edit this title and of course you can edit the text right here with the toolbar and right here where it says include more link that's where you have the button so if you don't have this marked off then it'll just be this message here without this button so what I'm going to do is I'm going to add this and instead of having it go to our spotlight message page I want this to go to our custom link so I'm going to change the name of this button I'm going to click on custom link and I'm going to provide the URL and then save my changes so now if I go back to the homepage we have our edited text and then on this button I change the wording I change the text here and I see that it has been updated if I click on this button now it's going to take me to the the page and lastly you can add your page also on your events it's not going to display the in the same manner as some of the other functions like the drop-down menu for the news or spotlight message but you can use it as a form of having like additional information on your event so let's go ahead and create a new event and you can add this manually so I'm going to go and event I'm going to make sure that I select the event that is displayed on my homepage assign it a date and time and then we're going to add you can add details, these are optional location that's also optional but I'm going to add my link here so that people can click on this when they click on the event to get more information and I'm also going to add a photo okay so I think I have everything that I need I'm going to go ahead and save my changes and it's been saved and updated so now I'm going to go refresh my homepage okay so now I have the event that I just updated in my calendar if I click here I'm taken to the event details and then my link is placed here so that parents can click and find out more information
