Our Product Team recently overhauled one of the most underutilized features in the Edlio CMS and we want to highlight all you can do with it! Join us as we highlight the Links feature and how you can use it to add an inviting and informative flair to pages and beyond! Our Edlio Expert will give you best practices and showcase some knockout ways you can take advantage of this powerful tool!

Hello everyone! We are right about time to start our webinar for today. Thank you for joining me my name is Diandra Matos and today I will be leading the webinar on how to get the most out of your Edlio link features now with icons. We are going to be covering our links feature quite a bit and just kind of give you a rundown on how to revamp some of the links on your pages. Okay we are going to jump right into our admin site I'm just going to close out of this here and let's go right into our admin site. Joining into our admin site here we're going to see all of our features and things we can maneuver in here today we are going to be working on two specific pages that have already been created we're going to be working on excuse me we're going to be working on our Arts page here or Fine Arts page and then we are also going to be working within our Edlio Gazette page here so if we go back into our admin site you'll see a way to access the link feature is if you click here into our hamburger menu and then you click into page management and into links so these are links that have already been created on a page so you'll see here within our Fine Arts page we have a section that's just for links down here so if we click into that links we'll see this the way that links are displayed within a page you already see our brand new icons right over here on the left side so these are all icons that I added to some of these links and I will be showing you how now you can add icons to make your links a little bit more eye-catching and to stand out a bit more so we go back into our Fine Arts page here you'll see that currently the links like I said they're living on the side here of a separate page so they're not something that you know is as easily accessible it's nowhere here on the page so I'm going to show you how you can actually add all of these links here that have been created right onto your page here so if we go into our link section here you'll see a drop-down and this drop-down is reflecting all of the links that are existing within your admin site within your pages so if we click into Fine Arts here you'll see these are the links that I've created a little bit prior to this webinar right now going back you'll see within the links that's displaying here so all of those links are there now let's say we wanted to make those links something of a feature here on the page so if we go into our admin site you'll see that these links have already been created but let's go ahead and add an additional link so to add an additional link we would just click simply right here into the add links so once we click into an add link we can give our new link a title so let's say we are looking for famous artists. I think I have had quite a few of them already so let's say we want Andy Warhol but let's say we want that new linked to be Andy Warhol here so we're going to go back into our admin site and then we'll put his name there as the new link and let's say we want that link to go straight to the Wikipedia we can click into copy link address here and then put that link right back into the link section here that's where it's going to add the link of course that you can add a description to the link but what that would look like if we go back here into the links it's going to be a drop down here and that's what a description would look like within the link so if we go back now you will see this displayed here in your right hand side icon display location determines icon visibility and appearance we clicking you'll see that there is now a whole list whole sort of different icons that you can select to highlight whatever icon you were using and make it like I said a little more eye-catching  if you scroll down here you'll see we have quite a few clipart that you can choose as an icon to display that link so if you were looking for something specific you can actually search for it up here as well so if we wanted our Let's see we clicked it's art will see here is some of the icons that can closely match to wanting something for art so let's say we want to go with this one here we would simply have to click into it save it and now we have that new link once we click save down at the bottom here so now now that we have all of these links created let's go ahead and add it on to this fine arts page here so if we going to our hamburger menu and we go into our Pages let's look for that art page if we search up here and we go into art we'll see that first page here now right here is where of course you can build out your pages to look however you want it to whatever Styles photos titles picture is so on and so forth now let's say we want to use those links that we created we would just simply click into add and you will see here the links featured that you can add as a page block so we click into links will see the fine arts section is already highlighted you can go through any of those other links that you have created at some point and add that but we're going to click into the Fine Arts that so once we click into save you'll see voila! all of those beautiful links that you've created or now here on the page so there's several different ways are you can highlight these links to make it look how you want to on the page so if we save this here this is more of a list style of the links so we publish it we'll go back in I'll refresh here and you'll see voila! here are all of those links they all display here right within the page of that fine arts section so any of these link that you click into you going to bring you right where where were you set that links to so if we go back there that's one option of how you can display these links now let's say you didn't necessarily want the links to be this drop-down and create the space here there are other options of how you can display these links so if we click into the links feature here you'll see right onto your right side there's a little setting clog so if you click into those settings you'll see that there's two different layouts that you can choose from within the list layout style you have the option to click through either numeric link or you can click into bullets style and then I'll just show you very quickly what that would look like so that's what your bullet style is going to look like and then if we go back into the settings on this would be your numeric link list here so that will display within the same way of that list style so that is one option of how you can kind of display these links here but let's say you wanted it to be a little bit cleaner you wanted to not take up as much space on that page so if you click into the settings here and you click into buttons you'll see that there are different buttons where you can display these links so you have your squared and you have your rounded these would be within your color or your school district school website color Let's say we wanted to go with a squared style here in white I would select that there and then click into save and now you will see here is a different appearance of how these links will look on the page so if we go in and we save that here so sorry my bar is blocking me from saving okay so if we publish now we're going to go back into that same page and instead of it displaying here what the list I'll look like prior if we refresh your going to see that they are now these nice beautiful kind of box style linked with your icons that you can make these links very eye-catching and very easy and convenient use and these links you can link to anything you can link to Pages you've created you can link to you anything that has a link is something that you can link right into so you'll see now we have all of our links here we have our icons that we selected and you'll see right off here to the side with Google this is what an icon would look like if you did not select this is what a link would look like if you did not select an icon so let's say we wanted to go back in and actually give Google an icon all we would have to do would be to go back into our link section here so if we go into links and we go into our Fine Arts links you'll see Google here currently does not one of our nice beautiful new icons so if you wanted to add an icon to the Google all you would have to do would be to Simply click in here edit this link and then select an icon Google search we have some Google Icons that we want to see you this one save it now we have a little icon for Google and if we go back and refresh you'll see our little friend from Google is now within that link so now all of our links here do you have those nice icon and you can create this for any type of page if we go back into that page that we were working on you can actually move this anywhere as well so if you didn't want it there necessarily it's you can move it off here you can move it pretty much anywhere within the page management you can put it here and you can kind of have them I'll show you what that would look like if you had it off to the side so here we refreshed again now you have your links off to the side so there is plenty of different ways where you can utilize this links feature the kind of make your page refresh with those links you can go in like I said if you click into this box here let's say you didn't want them to display as the white boxes here anymore you can go and you can change that color to red and you will see once you publish something it's going to reflect very quickly once you refresh where they are and now we have those links down here so that is one way to really use these links and create something that's really interesting to look at it's a it's a brand-new way with these icons to kind of highlight these links and it looks great on the page as you see here so one other way that I wanted to show you with the links here we have the Edlio Gazette here so you'll notice on this page we have the side with some links as well we have Three Links currently and one has an icon two do not to have a description when this. So let's go in and let's find that page to work on if we go into Pages here we'll search we're right here now let's say we are in this page here let's say we have this PDF here where maybe we want it this instead of displaying as the PDF on the page here let's say we wanted this to be a link instead for The Edlio Gazette issue 201 what we can do there if we can go back here let's start working with the link that are within the Edlio Gazette so we drop down here we can go right into those and as I mentioned prior you'll see the link here these are the same Three Links that we're working with so let's say we wanted to First align all of those links with having icons what we would go in and do again would be to go in and edit them selects some icons search beautiful we'll use this one that says news on it will save that we can keep this or we can pull the description it's entirely up to you of how you wanted to be presented within the page save it there the New York Times let's give that an icon as well news is the other one now we have them aligned as well. Let's say we wanted like I said to use the PDF as a link icon instead of that PDF on the page here what we would need to do we would need to get the URL for this here we can click into download here is the link that we would need with copy that there we can go back in and add a new link tell us a news letter 201 and put that link for the PDF there let's select another icon let's use this book save now we have our four links and if we go into that page here let's add those links again so adding the links we have them already selected save let's go back to changing the style the buttons let's do round this time save them there now you'll see when we publish this here if we refer we have those links right up there and now let's take this issue away here so we'll delete that go back and refresh this page and now the newsletter is a link that people can just access that way instead that's going to pull up the PDF right from there so again if we go back you'll see this is what that page looks like here are your link let's say you wanted to clean things up even just a bit more and we don't need this link here off to the side anymore so what we can actually do because we have them displaying here is that we can go back into the page let's go back into the section here and these links let's say we can unpublish them so now what that was look like when we unpublished them there is it's just hiding that section so instead of you having to have this here you already have your links right up here displayed beautifully with the nice new icons and if we refresh you'll see no longer do you need that section that off to the side you have everything that you need right up here at the top with those links and that anytime if you needed to change where these are directing to you all you would have to do would be to go right back into those links and you'll see these different sections so here was the Fine Arts that we were working on and there the Edlio Gazzete that so any of these links if you needed to change them to where they're directing all you would need to do would be to click in to edit and then of course you can put whatever wherever you would like it to direct so that's a nice way to use our links feature with our nice new icons.
