Thank you everyone joining me today, especially during this extremely challenging times. My name is Nicole Legaux, and I am the sales executive with Edlio that will be hosting your presentation today on ADA-Compliant websites for NYC schools. I first would like to review the agenda just so you can kind of see what we will be going through today. The first part I will address how you can you can answer questions throughout the presentation, because we are short for time I will answer all of those questions towards the end. So throughout go ahead and answer those questions when when you're ready. Part 2, we are going to give a little introduction about Edlio and our backgrounds. We are going to review some of the built-in tools that we have embedded in your content management system and I'm going to give you a Hands-On look onto the back end review some of the website that we've done for some of the NYC schools as well. And last but not least again I'm going to answer all of those questions towards the end. So first things first, you should see at the bottom of your toolbar there's a Q&A button that you can click on. We'll collect questions again throughout the webinar so you can ask those throughout and again at the end we will answer those. If I do not have the question at the moment I will definitely follow up at the end with an email. Ok. So just to talk about a little bit about Edlio and who we are. Our mission at Edlio, is to make lives of educators extremely easy with approachable powerful technology. Our websites and platform is only exclusively for K through 12 schools. So we do not deal with colleges or any other entities. Our platform is specifically made for schools and you'll kind of noticed that when you're in our platform on how easy we have kind of made all of our features and services. We power over 15,000 School in District websites thus far across the country and around the world. And we've been around for about 19 years. Believe it or not our first one of our first schools was New Dorp high school out there in NYC. So they've been with us I believe it's been about 18 years since the beginning of our startup. I just want to jump out of the presentation, cause I do want to show you all of the schools that we currently power in NYC. So if you're in any one of these districts of this column is where all of our are schools are within the district, but these are all of the schools that we power out in NYC. So we are a an approved vendor. At the end of the presentation or if you link up with me for your personal demo, I will be happy to provide our vendor number with the D.O.E and purchase orders are definitely fine between us and NYC. Ok, back to the presentation Edlio websites are designed beautifully, so we have premium designs within our gallery that you can choose from when I look in our Gallery yesterday there was about 40 premium beautiful designs that are already ready to go for you to choose from. And it's not just the website what we're offering you is a Content management system. So within your content management system, you have teacher pages. A free newsletter builder. Homepage widgets, so people can sign up and complete online forms. So there's so much more than your content management system. Again if we link up for demo I'll be happy to share everything that's embedded in there, but today we're just focusing on our ADA accessibility features. Our websites extremely easy to manage, you do not need to be super tech-savvy or even have like a tech director or I think in NYC you guys call him a spock. If you can do an email or do a Facebook post you can absolutely update our websites in real time. Our websites are ADA Compliant as well. We build them from the ground up with a ADA accessibility in mind and I'm going to review some of those things later in the presentation. Our websites are also responsive and mobile-friendly. The reason why that's important because they say about 75% of your community when they're bringing up your website, nowadays are bringing it up on a mobile device. So nowadays it's more important that your website is mobile-friendly and responsive and it is more important it looks nice on a cell phone or tablet compared to a desktop because that's just where we are as a society. We also offer ongoing support. So not only is support offered just for the web admins, but anyone that has a username and password. So as I mentioned before each of the teachers can have their own teacher pages. So if any of the teachers need help throughout the journey with Edlio they can reach out to our support team the are ticketing system built into the system or they can call in for unlimited technical support. Ok let's just talk a little bit about digital accessibility and maybe why we are here today. In New York, they say about twenty 20% of students are identified as having a disability. These students may use the assistive tools such as screen readers or translations. Translations is so they can translate the website in different languages, I review that tool a little bit later as well and it's required that the school website is digitally accessible. In 2016 NYC Department of Ed reached an agreement with the United States Department of Education and as a result all websites with in NYC must show an improvement in their accessibility scores by June of 2020. So we've been told that by the end of this year every website within NYC must be ADA accessible by the end of this year. I attended the 88 Summit in November where they train this this journey and invited all of the webmasters and parent coordinators to attend this summer to learn how they can get their website Ada accessible by the benchmarks I asked all of you while to post an accessibility statement on your website I'm if you have not done that yet we can definitely provide guidance or match in the fall you also should have received a score on your website on how accessible your website is great that you received in the fall they're giving you until June to at least improve that for your website does not have to be a hundred percent accessible but they all stay just want to see that there's some type of improvement by June 2020 of this year so I guess I was being a couple of months and they also wanted every school to appoint a webmaster release time for one at least one training when I was at the 88 Summit there was some people that you know maybe even parent coordinators that were appointed as the webmaster and had no knowledge of creating website never created a web I'm at the school accomplish this task so we definitely want to be your partner you know in this in this mandate from the d o e so I built in accessibility has just talk about how edlio can kind of help you without and some of our tools that are built into the platform are websites are designed and coded based on Elway keg 2.1 level double-a there's different levels with wcag we design our websites to have sufficient color we also ensure users can navigate the keyboard in itself to skip to main content Lee and we offer review our pay structure and links to be screen red size screen reader friendly before we release the website to you and some of our tools that are built into your content management system are text settings are required for all images that you load so every image that you upload describe and show you those built-in features in a little bit every video that you upload into our platform within an hour of you uploading those videos. SHINee is added and also comes with a full transcript of what was stated in that video and you will have the ability of editing and or the transcript if the artificial intelligence didn't maybe get it 100% accurately when they did that automatically for you we also have the ability of reviewing your pages with the wave accessibility Checker I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with ways but it is a free Google Chrome extension that you can download for free anybody can download that Google Chrome extension and you can scan any website out there to see how many sessions of their website or not accessible to those with special needs to our content management system for you to check that before you save and publish your teacher pages and just regular Pages within the website. The week so have this add-ons and I really want to make sure that I emphasize the word add-on of our partnership with audio I the New York Department of Ed really wanted me to ensure that I get the mess cross that this only can be added to an ADA friendly website by Ezio this cannot be purchased separately to fixed kind of your your website it has to be with our website and the the bonus of having on your website is that if anyone does come to your website and they do happen to find a section that may unacceptable they can reach out to a dedicated person via the help desk with help desk with audio I and the school and all the staff members at the school do not have to do with those 88 questions that may come up on your website you also receive remediation technology and reports that show if there were 80 accessibility errors on your website what errors were automatically fixed for you right now with a lot of her providers yes you can scan your website for those errors but then you have to be taught to research on how to fix those are yourself the great thing about audio I not only will it identify those areas but it will fix them for you so it really does save a lot of time in the vacuum if you're not that badly on 88th it also comes with an accessibility to a bar that you can't add on to your website so this is more for the front-facing website of of your part of your website if we go to a video. Com notice how on our website here we do have this is how it would look when you first go to it there's a little blue man on that will be on your website if you decide to purchase your website will be able to click on the little blue man and use these different toolbar features to read the content that is on your website in case they're not able to based on the way you have presented so I can hover over and get a big cursor you know maybe that cursor is too small for the eyes that are you know on your website I can change the contrast of my website cuz maybe I just have different send then you know others that come to the website when I can increase the text size of the website I'm not going to go through all of these but you kind of get where I'm going as far as how this can be very useful for those that visit your website and I also have a player so if I click the play button it'll read where I am on the website so I'm going to be a little later continue listening to my voice but you get where I'm going it will reach you where you are on your website so you know that's for those that are maybe visually impaired or blind extra for that that is not included in your platform but we can talk about that is if that's something that you would like to add them to your website but let me be very clear and saying this is just kind of icing on the cake not need to have audio I for your website to function and for it to be Ada accessible I think we have it in there when it comes to ATX let's go ahead and jumping into the back and this is really the probably the most exciting part I think because you can really kind of see visually what we have to offer to you and how you make your lives that much easier so I'm going to go out of this presentation I should say and the first thing I want to do is show you some of the websites that we done out there in NYC and some of the features that we have to offer so this is PS 29 again they are NYC school notice how the top of the website I have the ability of translating this website into 100 + different languages so if I change this website to finish the entire website to Spanish the mission statement these links that where she are the news and announcements I'm an even your calendar so not only is it important to be a decibel to those with special needs but it's also important that the content is it acceptable to everyone that speaks the language outside of English it's extremely important especially fair in New York because I asked I want score PS 144 and they shared with me how they have to adapt to 30 different languages at that one school so this is if you can get in the habit of putting on your website instead of Flyers because those cannot be translated the more accessible your content will be used for your website visitors especially now that everything is kind of being done remotely in virtue as far as I know it's really important that you put the content on your website so everyone can read the homework and assignments that are needed to pay the last accessibility I'm sorry the translation if notice how as I'm scrolling on this website there's a sign up for alerts if I click on sign up for alerts we also have unlimited forms that you can create on your website as well the great thing again because these forms are on the website I can translate the storm also into a hundred different languages all of the responses from your form will roll up into the back end of your content management system had a thousand people sign up for the newsletter or sport or or to volunteer that is in all of your responses will roll up into the back end of your export all of the responses into Excel want to contact management system it's not just the website this is another New York school that we power just how this New York school has it stopped up and I have to click okay I see this message before I go on to the rest of the website so this is really for any emergency notifications or any note that you want every website visitor to see so we see right my remote learning is is very you know popular needed at every school right now so just letting everyone know that they dedicated a remote learning page on their website you have everything that you need to know about how to deal with remote learning at this moment the point of me for going to that website just to show you how on this school how they have their video on the bottom of the website I'm going to take the sound out so it doesn't John out my voice but if I go to when they're actually talking on this website notice how the closed captioning is automatically added to this video when it was uploaded is done being artificial intelligence so it is it's not 100% but you will have the ability of editing this happening if you want to and with every video it also comes with a transcript so this is video gallery with the Chicago school this is not a New York school but you also get photo galleries and video galleries so notice how for this video I can click on show transcript and I have the entire check a strip of what was said on this video so that's another 80 accessibility feature we have embedded into the platform for someone to not hear what is being said on the video they can at least read along what has been said on the video another feature built into your platform so I get to show you one more design before we go into the back end of the website this is PS 29 this is what we've done for them and they also have a little widget on here so I can sign up for the email alerts our website are content management system also also collects contact information for parents as well so you have a nice list of forms Forum responses that were collected but also a nice list of contacts for every parent that signs up for email on your website the different announcements video or are they in need of Wi-Fi because you know everyone has to be remote now this full also has a page dedicated just for remote remote learning which is again which is very end now how to get access to the to the Google classroom and so forth so that's ps229 want to show you how we can easily update the path I'm in real-time only have 8 minutes left from going to have to go through this really you are with great about at Leo when we're done here I am going to give you the username and password are here when we're done with I will give you my email address so you can reach out to me to schedule a demo and not only will I do a 30 at 30 minute gym all that goes in-depth about all of us because we have embedded in our content management system also let you test drive our platform as well so I'm going to sign in and what I'm going to do today is I'm going to show you how to update our websites in real time so this is a website that we created a fictitious web site then I'd only I'm going to do my demo on but I'm also going to we will also let you test drive and play around on this website the news and announcements section that I'm going to update is this section here this is probably going to be your most frequent part of the website that you update I'm pretty much going to mimic the announcement that ps229 have on their website here about spring break and some of their spring break recess activities and so I'm going to click on it because I want to make a new announcement on my website and then I'm clicking on news and alerts because if you don't want to update the new session of my website I'm going to click on ADD news cuz I want to add new story to my website and I'm just going to copy and paste everything that they have here so this is their subject matter that they have for the new story spring break recessed there you short summaries going to be about 1/2 joosten is that kind of introduce what the entire new story is about so we're going to put our short summary here and on that they also have a picture here so I don't have the original picture this so I'm literally just going to do screenshot of the spring break picture of this some of our other providers how to set your pictures a certain Dimension and all of this crazy stuff before you upload an image to our to your website just know with us you do not and there was there was confident on that new story so let me just click new story and this is everything that they have that's in the new stories I'm just going to copy and paste that content right here so I don't have to type it out again and the screenshot that I just did a van in image that says spring break I'm going to drag and drop I can drag-and-drop that or I can upload from Google Drive Microsoft for Dropbox I'm going to drag and drop that right here no notice how the save button is greyed out it will not allow me to add this image to my website without adding an all text to it so there's someone blind or visually impaired on my website if I add a description that hides behind this so it's just as spring break the screen visually impaired person what does pictures trying to portray and now they're not left out of the visuals that are on the website they're included on the visuals I'm so that's how we don't have that tool built into it I just take the thinking out of it you can schedule postings on your website and tell when do you want this new story to expire from your website so what is this is about distance learning happening for the next two weeks I can say I want this new 3 tricks 2 weeks from now because that event is over and I don't have to remind myself to go to the website to remove they fit information so I'm going to quick save cuz I just did my announcement if I want to push this announcement outside social media I can I can push it out to my Twitter my Facebook and all of that put post now so now I only have an updated my website of updated all of my social media accounts as well I also want to make this a home page just so you can see what that looks like this is connected to a district website and fortunately so I just have to go into the district website and disable the pop-up that's on the district website cuz District website District announcements override the high school announcements so I've just disabled that so now I'll be able to do a pop-up message on that give me one second sorry did my save my do want to make this a pop up message so disregard what I did about two seconds ago and now I'm going to do Post now now when I go to my website here again member I updated the new section here I'm going to click refresh in the first thing I should see is that pop up message of spring break rest a recess activities the pop up message that I just created and if I click okay I see this message so I can go to the rest of the website here's that picture that you saw me do a drag-and-drop on and if I click on the new story for more information hears all of the tricks on recessed a PDF year of remote learning activities that the school has four children so that's how you can easily update the website in real time if you are a customer with us you want to make sure that when you have your website if you've been with us for some time if we go into site management and use sorry settings you always want to make sure that under the accessibility tab you have this box text enable Ada settings that will ensure that all of the the images and ADHD are are mandatory before you added the closed captioning and all that good stuff must be enabled to looks like we've almost were out of our time I did want to show you with with at Leo we also have teacher pages so if we go to my teacher page here my name is Nicole this is kind of a staff directory can look like and I can virtual learning is happening in the back end of my teacher page ability of a website with a way to make sure that my to make sure that my website is Ada accessible moving forward I'm so just know we do you have a built-in wave accessibility as well I can unpublish this page and dab first publish and saved saved draft if I wanted to go and preview the pay I also can there's a wave accessibility Checker where I can check this individual page to see if I have any Ada accessibility air is on it before I send it to publish I do have so much more to share with you we are at about it at our 30 minutes time slot but if any of you would love to set up a demo with me so from your cell phone and do updates to your website just from the comfort of your bed in your cell phone in your tablet and absolutely updated from the web from your cell phone that at the back end of
