good afternoon everyone thank you for joining our first my edlio webinar of the new year today we're going to be talking about tips and tricks to cleaning up a few things here and there so we can get ready for the new school year make sure that everything is so today you can see we're going to be using our website and let's go ahead and navigate to The backend where login as an administrator so these are going to be our module hazard we're going to start off with one of the most important aspects of school is back in session all of you calendar events are up-to-date so everybody is aware of any new event or anything that's going to be happening either through the mud by using top left-hand corner I want to update your calendars we're going to come here to plan and calendars and we can go ahead and double-check that any of the events that we have here are still if they're not go ahead and just delete them wits Academy you can select which calendar you wanted to go to depending on how many calendars do you have so we're going to go ahead and we're going to select all of our calendars you're going to want to put a title you have the option of putting X or locations or if you would like this event to repeat so we're just going to go ahead and say today is a all-day event if there's a location you can add your location there shouldn't be something like a sporting event and you to tell people feel they need to be at and then of course you can have your text here text you have the option to link if you'd like you can also add an image if you wanted to you could you just simply choose choose an image that you have on your computer you can see that our new event has been added to our calendar here if we come over statue Our Lives site you a couple of refreshes here and when we scroll down you will see our new event has been added to the calendar if collect it's going to open up and it's going to show every single calendar that we have added this to and all of the content you also have the option to add it to your Google or your iCal you can go to the full events list by clicking here I will show you any of the events that we have in that Steeler calendar you can select all if you'd like to see all of the events that you have and you'll see the corresponding colors to that calendar event another really important area to update is going to be your news so we're going to come over to announce into our news section and if we're going to be a place that you any important information any type of home page pop-up alert so we're going to go ahead and we'll add a new news item here where you'd like this to go to we're going to put this here to our news and announcements at any of the information you want to hear the short summary you're just going to want to keep it short and sweet and to the point and then in the main content box this is where you can put all of the information. Community will see the actual news item did white shoe source anything you can add that here any files are images you can drag-and-drop them or click upload from your computer and you also have the option here to post now you can also schedule it for a later date and time and then you can also say when this expires but this is going to be for a limited time perhaps you would want a star can an end date so people know exactly when to visit the library for the book fair always remember to click save and now we also have another op since our newest article that were posting is pretty important because school is closed due to weather we can go ahead and set it as a homepage pop-up alert so this is going to this is going to have a large pop up on the screen the community navigate to your website and they're going to have to acknowledge that pop up before they can go anywhere else on the website we're going to go ahead and have it posted now here. The diesel for homepage pop-up alerts last for 24 hours if you need to cancel that pop up before then you can simply click the chart you can see now that we have this home page cobbler letting everyone know a school is closed stay home today if you click the X that's going to go ahead and closed up the pop-up so anytime you have to get back to the homepage it's not going to keep popping up if you click okay it will pop back up once you come back to the home page and read. I'm going to give us our full news story hear you do also have the option and or print you can see and again we want to disable it we can just simply quit turn off and now it's not going to be coming back picture School utilizes the food menu module it would be a good idea to go ahead and come into the food menu and any new menu items that you will be serving in the new school year just click in a box and once you click out it automatically saves it for you you're also going to have the option appear to choose which particular you want to have this posted to you can you can add as many does he like you can also the option to show weekends if you ever host an event on the weekend and of course he's got your phone that you can spell out you'll want to link your food menu somewhere he in the site navigation so people know exactly where to go when they want to see your any other items that are what did will also show up here you can also print out the calendar if you'd like so you can stick that on your fridge so you know what items were going to be having another good area to focus on in the new school year going to be your site navigation here navigation can go a little bit cluttered at the end of a semester as you're adding any important Pages or information so it's always a good idea go ahead and make sure that everything in your sight navigation is still up to date and pertinent we're going to come just site management and site navigation where is we're going to find all of your site navigation headings and then any of the drop-down item that live underneath it if you wanted to add a new item you can simply come here click new item I want to give it a title you can link a section or a page that you've already created you can add a URL if you'd like we can add a file and a teacher page should you should you need to delete an item you would simply just come to the three little dots on the right hand side and then we come and we click delete so if we wanted to come back here let's say you wanted to clean up something underneath onesies we would simply text Paige we don't need this anymore so we'll go ahead quick delete remember to always save you'll see the notification that you have saved it successfully do a couple of refreshes you can now see the very bottom is no longer here super simple and easy way to clean up and get rid of anything that you no longer need another good idea is to come to community and forms and this is going to be where you create your forms that individuals will sign up for an H you can always come in here and create new forms each year you always have the option to open and close your forms so if it's not something that is going to be year round like a sign-up form you can always come over here and you can open and close the form say that we're going to be for the new camp you'll want to make sure that every up to date on here you'll want to make sure that your form is open so when you're posting at your site anybody who is going to be able to and then you're also going to to link this form somewhere in your sight navigation in a homepage widget so people can easily so people can easily find that important anytime you make any adjustments here if you want to what your form looks like before you attach it to your site navigation you can always click here you can double-check to make sure exactly it looks exactly like he wanted to look and then you're good to go another important area to keep updated is going to be your user management because faculty and staff come on board share and then some you want to make sure that anybody who has access to the CMS is currently updated so they will have access they'll be able to help you update your website so should somebody choose to leave you're going to want to come in here and are the website admin access where you can get in the weed and disabled users so what's a traitor here is no longer with the school they've retired what you want to do is simply and then you can go ahead and you can any information that you need to edit there should you need to disable you can simply disable the account and they're going to end up down here and gray you'll have this and that shows that they are disabled if you need to re-enable then you would do it the same way you would come in to the user's account you would click edit and then you would reinstate their access change management Pages often times get forgotten because you create will be for the entire year so you'll want to come into your pages and just make sure that everything that lives within each section is up to date in the most current example let's say we're coming after school section we want to make sure that everything in here is going to be the most up-to-date you can edit check it out for you decide whether or not you want to publish it to your site navigation you can always unpublish which is not going to actually delete the page it's just going to hide it so it's no longer visible on the life site if we wanted to move a page to a different section we would come to move and if we no longer need this page we would simply click delete you're going to see here it's going to give you an alert just in case what's going to happen when you delete it and now you've already started cleaning up all of your pages you can see here this little icon shows that is located inside navigation when we click on it it's going to take us to the page and then we can go ahead and we can edit anything that we need to edit here you have your formatting options you could also add an image and a file if you wanted to if you had your bus schedule in a PDF format you could also upload that here as well and we're going to want publish this page you can see here now this page is added in our site navigation you're going to want to come through here find your page that you just made and then you can see you've got all of your this is going to be the new text that we entered and entered and now your families can find the bus schedule in the front office another great tool if you happen to already use our online school payments OSP is going to be to remember to update your school swag if you have new t-shirts if there were tickets to new events that are coming out this semester you want to go ahead and add those to your OSP store here and then want to go ahead and make an announcement hey we have new school year for the 2018 school year and super easy way is going to be to link the link to school store by a copy are all here and we can add it to a homepage widget so this is going to be a button widget and this is going to be the easy best way for your community to click one button and be redirected to a new page so we're going to want to give it a title cuz that's what's going to live on the button and then that you are all that we have up here we're going to want a copy. And paste it into the section here you can move button widget anywhere on the homepage we don't always suggest having it right in the middle because it can block any important information so we usually suggest either on the left or the right hand side of your screen so it's not blocked or perhaps Spotlight messages that you have so we always suggest putting it somewhere on the side do a couple of refreshes and you can see our homepage button widget is here and when we click on it we're going to be redirected to that you are all of our school swim store that has all of that new gear for the 2020 school year if you need to delete it go ahead and just click the little trash can changes how much it is gone and your homepage is nice and clean and of course as always we have our amazing tech support team that's always standing by if you ever have any questions or any updating any portion of the website so when you're here in your dashboard to submit a tech support case we're going to come up to help this also has our awesome help center which is going to have any of the videos that you want to watch from any of our past webinars we've got our alphabetical list of help topics here cancel submit attack support case you'll come here and then you'll be able to go ahead and submit your tech support case thank you so much for joining us today for School tips and tricks clean up after night long winter break I hope this was helpful and if you have any questions again you can always contact tech support specialist or see if there's anything in the house Center is going to be a great weekend thanks
