good morning everyone thank you so much for joining us today for our pages webinar today we will be covering a walkthrough on our Pages feature so this includes updating your pages adding them to site navigation even if you need to go in and edit any existing pages and we also have a representative in the chat today who can answer any questions that you may have the webinar is being recorded and will be accessible to everyone in the help center so let's go ahead and get started so I am going to log into my admin link here and once you log in depending on what rights you have been given that will show on the dashboard you can click on the module through the dashboard here or you can go to our hamburger drop down menu and access it the same way here Couple quick notes before we jump into pages that if you ever need any additional resources we do have our help center that you can click into which is our external site that we have built so when you click into the help center you'll see that Everyone will have access to the help center here the next option that everyone also has access to is contacting Edlio support so whether you're having an issue with the website you need something changed you can go under help as long as your website is launched if you are not live yet please contact your client success specialist you would click on contact Edlio support and when you scroll down you'll be able to open a new case here or your hours will be preset to the time where you can call our support team and just as a little tip if you ever want to go back to the main dashboard if you click on your school name it'll take you back instead of having to click the arrows here so now let's go into our Pages feature and the way that we access that is by clicking on the hamburger drop down menu going to page management and clicking on pages So pages of course is where you are adding all of the content that you want to show on your website so when you click on pages again this is set to your rights that have been given to you if you only see personal pages that means that these are your teacher pages that you're working on it if you're seeing both personal and category pages that is because you have been given admin rights so you have access to updating the content for the website and you have access to creating your own page as well now for today we are going to be under category pages so we're going to focus on the admin rights now with our category Pages here you'll see that you are given six categories now you cannot add or delete any of these category but what you can do is change the name if maybe one of them is not relevant to you or if you only want to use a couple of them you have the option to hide these category so they don't show here and the way that you do that is by clicking on category options here and what this will do is show you that you have the option of choosing which category that you want to hide so let the you're at the elementary school and clubs and activities for example aren't relevant there you could choose to hide this category let's say you also don't have any athletic teams you can choose to hide as well just make sure that you always click on save the other option you have is if you want to use all of these categories and maybe just change the name if you click on any of the categories listed you can click on the pencil icon and change the name here and once you click out it'll go ahead and save that for you and another tip is you can always click back on the breadcrumbs here to go back to the main area of pages another note to make as well is as you start adding new Pages you might not remember exactly where you placed that page so instead of clicking through every category trying to find the specific section or page what you can do is click on search pages and as soon as you start typing it'll tell you exactly where that page is or section and what you can do is just click into it and start making your edits or updates and keep in mind as well. Pages is the only area in the admin site that allows you where if you accidentally deleted a page or realize you need a specific page back if you click on view deleted pages you're going to be able to see all of those pages here and what you can do is either view the page or if you click restore it's going to go to where that page was originally housed so just know that you do have the option to restore pages. now we have our six categories if you click into any of your categories listed here this is where you'll see your sections that are relevant to that category now with sections you can have an unlimited amount so you're not capped as to how many sections you can create here and then when you click into a section you're going to see all of the relevant pages that belong to that section so for example if I created a section called English I would want to put all of the pages that were relevant to the English Department in the English section and keep in mind again Pages unlimited sections unlimited as well it's only the categories where you can only have six now I'm going to click back into miscellaneous and let's go back into our Athletics as you can see under our Athletic Section we currently have two pages that have been created if you wanted to add a new page all you have to do is click on new page and you'll see that you can select blank page you can link to another page or you can select some of our features that we have as well so I'm going to click on blank page and as you can see that when you click on new page the first thing is going to require you to do is add a page title so let's say this was basketball for example and again if you click out it'll go ahead and add the title here for you then you'll see that the pages that you already had under athletics are showing in your section menu here and in order to create a section menu as long as you create two or more pages you're going to see that section menu build out Then you will see that under add you have the option of adding as much content as you like as many photos and as many files you can use these options over and over again you're not capped as to how many times you can use them here so if I wanted to start with content I could start adding my text and you'll see that you do have some formatting options listed above you can also hyperlink so maybe you wanted it to open up to another link for example or an external site you can go ahead and add that here you can also add in-line images so let's say I had an image I wanted to add for my computer for example and of course you want to remember to place your alt text which is very important for ADA purposes so I will just write Health is Wealth and click on save and you will see that it adds the image into the content box then the other option you have is you can choose where you want the image to go so whether you want it left aligned you want it centered or you want it right aligned whichever you prefer and another great tip here is if you ever wanted to maybe create a button on a page if you click on the image you'll see that you also have the hyperlink option here so if you wanted it to open into another external site you could also go ahead and do so here another great option is making something on the page collapsible so if you didn't want this to show right away on the page you can make it a collapsible item and title it here and I'll show you what this looks like once we save the page here and add it to the website so lets say you finish adding your content here now if you'd like you can go in and add a photo gallery you can even add as many files as you would like to so when you click on photos you can also make this collapsible you can choose to have the images rotate or be stacked so the images will just be under each other you'll see your accepted file types listed below and when you click on upload you're going to see the four options that you can pull from here so if I wanted to choose my computer I'll just go ahead and choose some sample photos here and since the admin of our website has our ADA the alt text turned on it's going to prompt me that the images are missing the alt text so I have to place the alt text on the page before I can save this so in order to do that I would click on the image click on the Alt text button here and you want to be very general with your Alt Text and you can also see that when you click on the image you also have the option to add a caption directly to the image so this can be seen so if I were to put food pyramid here and save that when I show you what this looks on the website you'll see that the caption will show on the image Then your last option here is adding your files so if you had files to share for example the sports schedule and you wanted to place it directly on the page if you click on file you'll see that our accepted file type is any again you can make this collapsible this would be a great option where if you have multiple files that you want to list on a page it'll make it look cleaner if you have it as a collapsible item so if you were to make this collapsible and call it schedule for example when you click upload you'll see the same four options and if you have a PDF file what you can do is directly embed this on your page now keep in mind this will only work with a PDF if you have a Word document or an Excel spreadsheet it's not going to work with that so I'll show you what this looks like when I click my computer I have a syllabus here for example when you click on open if you leave it as is it's just going to be the link to the document but since this is a PDF we have that extra option of embedding it on the page so when I click on the three dots you'll see display options listed here now for best practice we recommend going with either the second option or the largest option so parents or students can read what's on the PDF and you can test this out as well if I click on the second option. I will see that maybe this is too small If I click on the largest option I may think that this one is better so I'll just go ahead and leave this as is and again as a reminder keep in mind that you can keep building to the page so if you wanted to go back and add more content add more photos you're more than welcome to do so and as you'll see you have the same option under your section menu so if you wanted to add some content maybe you wanted to add photos under the section menu instead of in the middle of the page you can also go ahead and do that or list your files on the side as well now what we want to do is make sure that we save the page so we would click on save draft and what this does is you will see that this page is still unpublished so no one can view this page now if you'll see we only had the layout option earlier which allows you to make it a full width page move the section menu to the left or to the right when we click save draft it added the actions option for us now what this does is under action you have page option so if I click on page options or if you click preview draft you're going to see here that you can preview what your page looks like on a phone on a tablet and on a desktop and you'll see the collapsible option that we were discussing if you click on it you'll see the text that's relevant and if I scroll down where we had schedules if I click on the collapsible you'll see that I can see the entire pdf and I can even click on the link to download as well now once you click on publish this means it's ready to go you want to post this to the website under action you can go under add to site navigation and what this will do is it'll take you directly into site navigation so it saves you that step of having to go in to site management and site navigation from here but you still have the option if you wanted to do so now I am going to click back into Athletics and I wanted to show you that you also have the same option in the section that when you click on actions you can add all of these pages that are housed under the section to site navigation so if we click add you're going to see that it takes you directly into our site navigation and what this does is it automatically adds it to your last container that you have here on the website so just make sure that you go in and move it to whichever relevant menu you would like it to be housed under so let's say we wanted to move it perfect so now just make sure that you click on save in order to successfully save your changes that you've made and then if you click back into the website and you refresh a few times you'll see that now we have Athletics visible on the homepage and you'll see that all of the pages that are relevant to that section are now showing here so you could click and go through each one and you'll see that we'll see the collapsable option here we have our images that are rotating you can even pause and resume and you'll even see the schedule listed here and you'll also be able to click on the link as well now another area to note here if we go back to pages if you're going in and maybe you want to make some changes or move some pages around what you can do is if you click on any of the categories you'll see that your sections here if you click on the three dots instead of going in and creating your sections and Pages all over again what you can do is move it so let's say one of your sections was accidentally placed in the wrong category you could go ahead and move that over so when you click on move it'll give you the option of choosing the category that you would like to move it over to and keep in mind as well that if you click on Athletics for example let's say a human resource form accidentally ended up under athletics what you can do is click on the three dots of the page and you'll also have the option of moving from here so you can move sections and pages so it will give you the opportunity to choose a new section to place it in and the new category if need be and if we click back under miscellaneous you'll see that by some of the sections you're going to see this icon what this icon means is that you've already linked this somewhere inside navigation so this means that these are all visible on the website they have been linked under one of your containers so keep that in mind that when you see this here that means that it's already visible so if I were to go into Covid-19 resources and add a new page here it's already going to show on the website because we have the entire section linked. and if you ever wanted to go in and clean up the areas again you can click on the three dots and you have the option to delete pages and you have the option to delete your sections as well so if something isn't relevant once you click on delete again what's going to happen is it's going to go under view deleted pages and you'll be able to access it there. Now I wanted to cover one more area here that when you click on new page you'll see that you also have the option lets say you created a form that you wanted to be filled out for athletics maybe it's a registration form for the team any of the forms that you create under our community feature they're going to show when you click on forms here so lets say this was our form what's going to happen is if we click on Save and I go back to the website and I refresh you'll see that the form has now been added here so when they click on it you're going to be able to access the form fill out the information and submit So as a reminder if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to your Client Success Specialist at Edlio.
