Hi Everyone thanks for joining us today for our My Edlio webinar. Today we're going to be covering some of the new pages updates and how that corresponds with site navigation and how we can get your communities to find that important information that you are creating. So today we're going to be using Edlio College Prep and when we sign into our admin site this is what it's going to look like. I do have a couple of tricks as you can see I actually have three tabs open. I have my live site and I have two tabs with the same dashboard. This helps me out when I'm navigating between different modules like pages and site navigation for example so you'll see me switching back and forth between tabs to help me more quickly add content and get it published on the website First we're going to go into our pages so we can either go to a hamburger menu in the top right-hand corner or via the dashboard here Go to page management and pages Today we're going to be working with our category here called academics and then we're going to work on our End of 2020 Information for November and December. As you can see I've already started to build out this section here so what I'd like to do if I'm building a section that has pertinent information for a very specific audience in this case it would be the end of 2020 information and wrapping up the year with November and December I like to start out with what I call a welcome page. This is going to be a page for people once they click on the item that will be linked in the site navigation then it will give them that information that they need and it will exactly where they need to go in the section menu over on the right hand side. So we add a content box we can use all of our rich text formatting here we can also add a photo by dragging and dropping or clicking upload and then we also have some new features that we've added to our Pages. If we click add you'll see now we have we've always had content, photos, and files, now we have buttons, staff, and a staff search. So let's go ahead and start with staff. This is going to bring up your list that is in user management so now we can select exactly who it is we want to display here on this particular page. Click save. And you'll see here that now we've added an individual and then we also have that contact information just like we would in our staff directory. We can also come to the gear icon and we can choose different layouts. If we're going to be having more than one staff member on the page. So here we can also add another content box When we quick outside of it this is going to show who we want to get in contact with here. If you wanted you could also add the individual by dragging and dropping and move them over to the section menu here. We can rearrange by using our dots And then we'll go ahead and click publish So if we want to see what this looks like before we add it to our live site you can come up here and click on your link and now you can see we've got that information, we have our staff member here that we contact if we had any questions, we have our image that we've added here and then the section menu that we're going to be building out for this end of 2020 information section. When we come back we can go back to the section you can see I have added our calendar feature page, and a links page, and our photo album feature page. These are going to be standard for any of the pages that you add into a section. Now I've started a draft here so you can see when we were looking at the live site you did not see that because I've just started a draft so you have the option now to save draft and then if you want to come back later to update that information you can. Let's go ahead and let's add a new page to our November and December section Let's go ahead and add a blank page here and then you'll see we need to add that title We'll add our content Again, we can add content, photos, files, buttons, staff, and search bar for if we have multiple staff members on that page I'm just going to add some content here and then you can see that I'm asking people to be a volunteer and to follow the link. Instead of just posting a long hyperlink I'm going to come in and I'm going to add a button but before I do so I'm going to need that URL, so this is where having multiple tabs open will help you out. So if we come to this tab I can come to our community forms and I have already made a form here for our volunteers for the holiday party sign up so I'll click the three dots I will get share I'm going to copy the link to this form navigate back to my second open tab, click add button Then come here to the little gear icon we have four different options we can have a squared off button, a rounded button and then these colors are going to be associated with your primary and secondary colors on your website. And you can see here we're getting this alert and that's because I don't actually have a URL associated with it so it's not going to be save that button until I put that URL there. So we're going to go ahead and add the form URL all that I copied we can do open a new tab and if we want we could add a photo Just drag and drop that, add alternative text If we wanted to rearrange this we could so let's say we want to have the image at the top we can go and get that up there if we wanted to add a button over here on the side as well we could do that Add that URL here now we have the button in two different places being displayed. We can add as many as we want on either page we could also add a staff member that's associated with this. and then we can go ahead and click publish If we want to view this before we have everything on the website again click the little here you can see what your page looks like we've got our button here and we another button here When we click on that it's going to open our form that we had already created. When we come back to the section you can see here that we have now published this page so it's going to be showing up when we go back to the section Let's say we want to move this up to the top because this is going to be something important that we need the volunteers signing up now so we want that to be shown a higher up on our list in our section menu so we simply drag-and-drop that there. We could also create a page that has any sort of information on it or if you just wanted a general form for this section you could do so by adding the form here. So you didn't necessarily have to have that pre-made but in order for it to be linked to the button we did need that URL. Now we need to decide where we want this to go on the live site now that we have these items published here we need this to be displayed somewhere on our home page. So we're probably going to want this to be in one start navigation items here Let's go ahead and we'll come to our hamburger menu, go to site management and site navigation Let's add it under our academics here. We're going to go ahead and add a new navigation item We're going to add the entire section And we want this to open in the same window. If you wanted you could redirect to a URL, you can attach a file, or you could add one of the many feature pages. We need to go ahead and click save. And again just like in the pages if we wanted this to be moved up you can absolutely do that by dragging and dropping. Let's move it to the top and we want to get that information across. Save again. You need to do a couple of hard refreshes to make sure everything is nicely saved Now you can see our 2020 wrap up as been added to our site navigation so it's going to come directly to that landing page our holiday party volunteer page is next you can see here we have those two buttons we added we have our holiday party volunteer we've got our calendar feature page any links that we would want to link to here we have photo album feature page here And of course we can click back through our bread crumbs. Let's go ahead navigate back. Now that we're talking about wrapping up the year we may want to post them information on looking ahead to the upcoming graduation year for 2021. Let's open the page that we started and you can see our gone ahead and I just inserted an inline image here added some content. Let's go ahead and add a button here I'm going to come back to my forms to gather those URLs add that URL Let's add another button here and we'll grab the URL for this form here Now you can see we've got two buttons, and again we have the option to change the colors or the shape We could also add if we have a lot of information that we need we do have the new collapsible content box so that's going to be a way for you to have a lot of information on one page but without your visitors having to scroll so much. Let's do that and we can go ahead and click publish Now we've added all that information you can see by this little arrow here on the right that these are going to be collapsable when we are looking at them on the live site. We will do some refreshes here You can see now our new looking ahead to 2021 page has been published. When we click on that we got our inline image, our two buttons that go to those forms that we had made previously the form can be filled out here to purchase additional tickets we have our pre-created form here and then you can see here are three titles for those three collapsible content boxes Another way for us to get this important information across be through either homepage widgets, news and announcements, homepage pop-up alerts, and even our spotlight messages. So let's go ahead and update this spotlight message here so everyone can be notified of these upcoming announcements that we just created. We're going to come to our hamburger menu come to announce and spotlight message We're going to update the principals message and then this is where we can add any of that information that we want and we can also hyperlink and redirect to any of those forms that we need. Let's go ahead and do that. we can change out our picture here add our alt text if we wanted to add a file to can also do so here and we can have the read more link you could say click here anything you wanted to Click save. You can now see what was principals message has now been updated Now when we scroll down to our spotlight message you can see the title has been changed, that description I added is right here, and we have our read more link. When click on that it'll bring us directly to the spotlight message with that image we uploaded but let's come back here and let's create another new page and show you all of those additional features that we've covered We title our page, click add let's go ahead and add some content here We can also change the layout of our pages now. Before we had these three options here where we can have the section menu on the left, on the right, or no section menu at all. You can see that we now have these three new options: the section menu on the left with a hero image and the main content, just the hero image at the top, or the hero image with the content and the section menu on the right. So let's go ahead and do that here. You can see him once I've clicked now you see a new add here at the top so I can add photos I could even add a section menu at the top rather than having it on the side or I can add buttons our alt text I know you can see that once we've added this hero image when we come here to the gear icon you have options here. These were going to be the original photo layout options that we had before and now we have the option to have the image fit within the width of the page or you can have it to be full page. If you have a very large image this will take up a lot of real estate on your webpage, but just to show you what that looks like select that and you can see here it is taking up a lot of space if we wanted to make it smaller go ahead and do that we can add staff here, buttons, files, photos, and content again in the top area we can click section menu and now you'll see the section here has been recreated up here at the top directly below the hero image so you can see the image of going to be at the top with the section menu and page title Let's see if we like the way that looks. You can see our image, our section menu here which page we're on is highlighted versus the section menu here on the right side. However, if we decided we wanted this to be about the photo we can just drag and drop that there do a couple of refreshes here now you'll see we have our section menu above the large hero image which is above the breadcrumbs our page title and our section menu here if we wanted we could also add buttons up here instead of having the section menu at the top we would rather have some buttons do a couple of refreshes now you can see the hero images at the top or section menu is gone now we have our sign up button here and then our page with it's content and our traditional section menu here on the right hand side again we can add as many buttons as we want we can we can change the colors Click publish. and now we've got three buttons on our page here To recap all of the new additions to Pages that's going to be adding as many buttons as you'd like adding staff members and if you have multiple staff members on a page you can add a staff search so when you add your staff you could then search by name if you happen to have a really long list otherwise if you just need to showcase a couple of individuals you can delete that and you can adjust whatever order you want your staff members to be in we have our button additions we have our new layouts with the hero images here and then we have the option to add section menu to the top of the page rather than just having it here on one of the sides And then coming back to our site navigation again we added that entire section here now we've got all of those pages all that information we need we also added some information here to a spotlight message so there multiple ways to get your information across.
