My name is Misty Rosenberg and I will be presenting our live webinar discussion today on pages options and joining us will be Sergio Flores Technical Support agent. We are very very thankful that you decided to join us today just a few things before we begin hopefully you are able to hear everything that we are talking about please do not worry if you you get pulled away we will be adding this recording to our Edlio Help Center so that you can listen to this watch this as you're watching today think of a collegue or someone that might benefit from this recording that you can share this with are questions Your questions really really matter to us so please don't wait until later you benefit from having a real live person here with any questions that might pop into your head as you are watching. At Edlio we are goal is to build your trust and just showing you our pages hopefully this will give you a chance to see all of the things we are developing just to make this as easy as possible for you to reach out to your visitors reach out to your families So today's webinar will include a thorough page management overview we will talk about some options and features on something that was already pretty robust but we are always adding new things to help you with all the ways you can use pages that you have created And finally a real life practice session for putting together an admissions section together. So give me just one moment So as we get started today the first thing I want to talk about is the page management cycle. This is kind of all of the steps that you go through whenever you are creating content for your website. So we will just talk really quickly and in just a second we will hop over into the CMS to the admin site but first I just want to talk about these steps. So step 1 just like the folders on your desktop you create content and you organize content so that's exactly what we give you on the backend if the admin site A place to create and organize your content so that's the step 1 You know we will go through this together you create and you add content. Step 2 you place that content somewhere so practice placing that whether it's in a drop down menu on a widget on your homepage or creating a button on a page that can link to this which is something that stands out to them that is very helpful for them. Step 3 is connecting that content together so in the same way that a teacher will staple pages together to create a packet of something that you know is relevant is of the same topic that's the same way you organize your pages for your visitors. So that's step 3 so when parents you know parents don't want to scroll and scroll and scroll on one page. They are trained to look around on that same page to find whatever it is they are looking for next. Also when it comes to looking for whoever they would be asking a question to they can find all of that on the same page. So I will show you how to connect those things together. Step 4 this is success communication has happened the visitors viewed your pages they took some sort of an action they clicked on a button filled out a form they reached out to someone to make contact. Communication definitely took place and finally the last step of the page management cycle step back and rethink how you want to organize how you want to communicate something This happens around this time of the year. As it's spring and we are thinking about summer and fall So this is a good opportunity to step back and look at your pages. Have your Client Success Specialist maybe even to get a second pair of eyes on your content and rethink how you want to reorganize that. Let's go into each one just a little bit more Just one moment please feel free to as I mentioned add any questions in the chat to be answered immediately. So let's go into our admin site so this is your dashboard this is where you go to find everything that you need. and today specifically we are going to stay mostly in page management but we will hop over to Site Management Site Navigation. So as you're following around this is a great time for you to open up your Page Management, Pages and kind of stay there as well with us and think about this from your perspective. So whenever content migration when you are in your project management phase whatever side of if you're starting from scratch on your website these six categories here these might be completely empty so I like to make a parallel with your desk top so let's say you get on your computer and you have you know empty folders that you can create here They are your six categories. Edlio does the same thing for you we give you six categories where you can organize all of your pages. But let's say you've moved content over from an existing site For that matter the content migration team will choose some default titles and move your information over to kind of give you a head start on organizing but that definitely does not mean that you have to keep it that way. I will show you in just a second how to move things from one category to another. So today we are going to create a Admissions and spot. So we are going to talk about the steps for that but first I just want you to envision you have six categories you have category options here so we are going to click first on this Category Options if you decide you know six is too much you would just like to show five you could just click right here to hide one of those categories. For today we are going to keep all six of those showing we just want to click save changes. So we will go back to our six categories. Now when it comes to admissions I had already created a category named admissions. everything pertaining to admissions, enrollment registration, tuition would be going into this category. So I definitely wouldn't place an Athletic form or a Chess club page I wouldn't put my Staff Directory necessarily on there unless it was a part of the Admissions registration. So whenever I open admissions adminstration you know we are still in step 1 here we are at the initial stages. Going to open up this category and everything in here will be pertaining to that so I'm going to open up the section enrollment and what a section is it's like a folder within a folder Whenever I open my category one folder on my desktop it's a folder inside of that folder. Right now that folder is empty we have our category we have our section enrollment and the first thing I'm going to do is create a new page so we're going to start setting up the landing page and I am going to click blank page and I am going to call this Enrollment home. Just so I know that this is going to be my landing page. This is where everyone will go when they have questions about enrollment or admissions. I am going to publish this page to make sure that everything is going to be saved and we can look at it on the live view. You can also save draft if you are not ready to show the final view at this point you are still gathering your information. so now when we step back we have our folder now we have a page it's no longer an empty folder it's now a section that has one page inside of it. Let's go look and see what it's starting to look like. I always like to see my final final view here. Okay so now we have our empty page we're going to start building on this page. So step 2 we're going to move into step 2 in just a second placing that before we get there we need to really add some content to this page. We need to develop this page and make it beautiful make it have everything that we need to show. The first step we're going to do here you have this little box here that says add with the plus sign You can start adding your content that's one thing to do You can choose your layout so one of our new features is we have added a set of three new layouts at the bottom here which they have this box at the top that gives you a chance to add a photo there to spread across the top and it essentially makes that page its own website so you can do a lot more with the visuals of the site. We're going to click this one here to show you the difference So now we have not only a box down here to add content on the page but another box here were we can add a photo that can spread across the top. We can take our section menu which usually you see on the side column to now stretch across the top of the screen I will show you what that looks like when we are done. You can also add buttons at the top if you prefer buttons that lead visitors to other pages that are spots. So for now lets add a photo and we are going to open up this folder to grab a photo. So for the admissions page and the enrollment page I'm going to place my photo of our school because you know we want people to be able to visualize being at the school. As soon as we place the photo we see this message here missing alt text and if this is something that you see this means you have accessibility enabled on your website on your CMS and any person that's viewing your website would be able to hover over a photo and receive a message to show them to let them know what to give them a message what that photo is so we are going to click on alt over here and we are going to place the words school building. If someone has a visual disability they can hover over this and be included in the conversation to be included in whatever is going on with the website. We've added our photo I'm going to click save draft and publish again just so that I can show you in a moment what that photo will look like. The next step is we are going to start adding content to this page. So let's click add here and I did that a little bit fast let me slow down Whenever you click add you have lots of options for what you can do on a page block. You can add content which is text you can add a photo or a series of photos that can be clicked through like a photo album. Another thing when you add content you can add an inline image which places the image in the midst of the text and gets you a little bit more editing practice capabilities with that photo. The third thing you can do here is you can add a file for example a PDF that can be embedded in the page which we will do in just a moment. You have your buttons options where you can create and choose from different colors of buttons that when clicked those will lead them to another page whether it's a form or another website. Finally you have some staff options so you can add here for example the staff profile of your academic dean or guidance counselors that assist with the whole admissions process. So for this we are going to first add some content and because this is an admissions spot the first thing we want to do is entice we want to kind of add this why college prep why would people why would students want to come here so first thing I am going to do is make a sub-heading here. So I am going to go up to paragraphs you have all sorts of formatting options up here. In paragraph I am going to choose Header 2. and I am just going to leave it on the left. Sometimes you can take this and center it but I am just for this page going to leave it on the left. Whenever you click out of the box it gives you a chance to create another box so in this case here I am going to add my text. Then I am going to answer that question Why College Prep? whenever you copy and paste text from another place sometimes you need to clear the format Sometimes it carries with it some formatting that might not parallel as well with your website so you can go right up here to this clear formatting button and it will take away spaces another thing I like to do is going to headers and blocks and make sure that everything is removed so that I can kind of start for that text. So when we go back here we make sure to kind of add a space there The next thing I want to do here a good thing to do on an admissions block is to add some kind of academic data for someone who might be wondering you know is this a good place for my child to learn. So I'm going to add some academic data For this one I want to add a photo so I want to show you how to add an in-line image. So I am going to add a content box here and in this spot I am going up to the three dots and I am going to select this image right here and at this point I will grab the image from my computer and place it simply in there because I have my alt text message I'm going to show before the message will show up I am going to add it ahead of time that this is a chart and I am going to hit save. So now we see the chart at this point I can make it smaller I can wrap text around it I can center it on the page and make it larger or smaller Another thing people do to to entice students to kind of show students during especially during this time of Covid when it's harder to get to campus another thing people are doing is a virtual tour I want to show you first before we move on what the page is looking like. We are going to keep adding options to this. Lets go over here and we are going to do a hard refresh and now we see with our photos spread across the top we scroll down and we got our page starting to be developed. I want to go back over here and I actually I would like to play around with this photo because I don't want it spread all the way across the top I would like to constrain it just a little bit. When you go here you can click on this little gear icon and instead of it being full width I would like to constrain this image. Will show you what that will look like. So here we have got our image constrained a little bit more manageable on the page with the margin. As we keep developing this page the next thing that I would like to do here is show you how to build out your section menu We are going to step back one level into our folder enrollment and we are going to create a new page. and it is going to be a blank page and for this I'd like to put Virtual Tour videos You can easily embed videos onto a page so I am just going to choose content again because I'm going to show you how you can embed a video onto a page. you have got your text selected and do you see these little arrows right at the top here you are going to click on these arrows and in this html box you are going to copy and paste you're going to paste the code that you pulled from whether it's a Youtube video or I can if you reach out to your Client Success Specialist or look on our Help Center there is some really good instructions for embedding video onto a page. In interest of time we are not going to go into that a lot but I'm going to paste my iframe code here click save and now we have a beautiful virtual tour showing up on this page. You definitley have a lot of options when it comes to videos you can if I go back onto my landing page again if you ever want a video to show up and it's just let me go back one level whenever you click new page here you can add a video from your media files that you have already uploaded onto the CMS as the feature video meaning the entire page would just be the video but for this page I'm going to do this so that I can add a message along with this video. okay so it looks like my Link might have expired here. For this one you can also add staff So I am going to show you had to add a person here Whether it's in the main body of the message or you can also drag a profile up into the side column here So you know reach out to this person for assistance So lets save we are going to go back into our enrollment home and I am going to show you how the section menu on the side is starting to be built out here. We click on virtual tour and here we see we have got our video once they have watch this video maybe they want to immediately reach out to the Director of Admissions and they can do that. Lets take one step back we are going to develop this just a tiny bit more before I show you some other things you can do in pages. So we are just building out some blank pages that just to give you an idea here. So we are going to build out a blank page that is called Visit CP. So on this page we can put a map we can put instructions we can put a form where people can contact us and one option whenever you create a new page is you can connect a form to this page so we've already got an admissions form we've got a registration we are going to attach this admissions for here and save back here Another thing we want to do here we have got a really good PDF that has some FAQ's on it. A lot of schools have some really great documents and they say can we just simply place these PDF's onto a page. Do we have to recreate all of that? The answer is you definitley do not have to do that because Edlio has given you a place where you can easily embed documents So we have got some size options here for how large or small you want to make this. We are going to choose the top highest size and whenever you publish this page and you go back over here we are going to do another hard refresh. Now whenever I click on FAQ's you know I have this beautiful document that can here you know that envision there is a parent scrolling on their phone waiting in the pick up car pick up line They can scroll through on their device and access everything that they need that you have already developed beautfully. So whenever you have finished this enrollment spot here you can keep developing out your section. You can add tuition, financial aid post registraition tasks maybe once you have all this built you have this link right here this link this is the link that you can use to connect it to a button on another page you can add on your homepage a homepage widget or a homepage pop-up which I will show you in just a second. Under your admissions drop-down menu right now we have nothing there so I am going to show you quickly how you can attach the entire section to that. You go to Site Management in your hamburger menu and up to Site Navigation This Site navigation is all of the drop-down menus on your homepage so the order that they will show up in about academics activities exactly how you see it on your homepage So we are going to scroll down to find admissions and right now we don't have anything in there so we are going to attach this beautiful section that we just built. So new item and what do I want to call it I get to choose whatever I want it to be called enrollment spot click here to apply and then right here we are going to click select a page I am going to attach this entire section right here and then I will close the spot. If I would like to maybe put the form here some people they want to go straight to buy now they don't want to beat around the bush they just want to apply. We could select that form admissions form and as a new tab is good so that they don't maybe lose the website. Let's close these and it's always necessary to click save. We go back to our homepage and refresh a few times and here under admissions now we have our own spot we click there taken immediately to our beautiful section If I would like to apply now I click on apply now on this beautiful form it will show up right on the page for me and we are going to fill it out. So you know we are definitley providing what our parents need. As we are kind of wrapping this up to today one more thing I want to do is show you how to create a widget on your desktop. The first thing you want to do is return to your I apologize To your page to grab that link so you know this link in your admissions tab in your enrollment spot. You know we are just going to grab this entire link here and we are going to copy it and then we're going straight over to Page Management homepage widgets. We are going to create a little button so that people if they don't go to the drop-down if they want to learn more about how to apply. So we will add a button widget the first step to adding a widget you create a label so we say apply now and we want them to go to that entire section to get that information or we could also call it Admissions Process. Once you save changes now when we return to our homepage we have a widget I always tell my clients it takes a few times to really find out exactly where you would like it to show on your homepage. and now whenever my my visitors, come and click on admissions process they go straight to this beautiful section that I have created. So you know when we look back here at this page management cycle. We created content we decided where we want to share that we connected content together to a section and communication a parent was able to take some sort of action fill out a form contact someone at the admissions department. Receive the information they were looking for trust is built between the school and the parent at this point at this step here. During this season no matter where you are at you know if you've been with Edlio for several years or if this is your first year its always a good idea to step back and kind of rethink how you want to organize your content in page management. so we challenge you I always tell my clients please schedule a time to meet with me and I am a good pair of second eyes to kind of look at your categories and pages and say what's a good way that you can organize them. If you have lots of people in there creating content it's always good to have a meeting and get everyone on the same page.
