Greetings to you all and welcome to our Supply List Webinar! We are thrilled to announce our newest feature: Supply Lists! My name is Misty Rosenberg and I am a former secondary English teacher and a mom of two. I am also a Client Success Specialist at Edlio and I love being with a company like Edlio that provides new features like this to help your experience. So a bit about me before we get started and we are hoping to truly make this an interactive webinar today so just so that you can get to know me just a little bit I am a former seventh and ninth grade English teacher and specifically about Supply Lists, I've had plenty of moments that just didn't have to be so complicated with getting school supplies into my classroom for the kids that needed to learn so in the weeks before school started often I would be answering emails about where to find my list I would have lots of questions about items that might have been out of stock and over and over again I would resend the list to parents who had trouble finding it so now if you look at my perspective as a parent who on the other hand I would I would be given maybe a paper copy of the supply list and I would be the kind of naughty parent that would have that list all crumpled up in my purse to be used in the store, so more recently a PDF on my phone was even less helpful so as you guys know sometimes you lose the screen and you can't track what you've already thrown into your cart so what Edlio is doing right now is we're partnering with TeacherLists to make this easier for you so before we start today I just want to tell you I show you a little bit about what to expect we really want to make this worth your time so these are the questions that we'll answer together the first one: 1 - What is the supply list feature? 2 - How easy is it to get started? We want you to feel like you could get started as soon as you hop off this webinar and finally 3 - How does this feature help teachers and parents? That's our goal to make life easier for teachers and parents, not to mention our web admins that are on this webinar as well also today to be eligible to win gift cards please participate in our polls so keep an eye out during the webinar to win some gift cards. So, speaking of polls, let's get started with our first poll today! The first poll is can everyone hopefully you can see this window here let's talk about how long we've all been working in education I see a lot of people participating thank you so much I personally have been before I was with Edlio for 12 years in education so I guess I'm in that fourth category there but I definitely own a lot of school t-shirts which is inconvenient now for working in corporate office now so our final results here it looks like we have the largest audience here is 36% of you being an education for 11 to 15 years that's amazing you are heroes we have you know pretty balanced out 1 to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 10 years and amazingly we have 24% you have the dictionary memorized so you've we've got some veterans on this webinar which we you know me as a person missing the classroom I would love to see you in in your element in in the school right now so thank you for participating the more you participate the higher chance you have of getting a gift card so another poll let's let's just squeeze one more in here real quick what's think specifically about your school supply purchase experience so on a scale of 1 to 5 what has your school's purchasing of school supplies been like in years past, so think about you know has it been in experience or stressful I have to be honest that most of might have been pretty stressful but I also have littles who don't help with that process all the time, being definitely a teacher of 180 - 7th graders that was always a little bit stressful as well so yeah similar is so we've got a lot of "So-So's" we've got 42% of you are "So-So", we've definitely got some stressful, and thankfully 4% of you had an easy experience so definitely we would love to hear how your experience was easy so thank you again for participating and finally here we're going to fly through this process because we want we know how valuable your time is so but however if you happen to get pulled away or think of somebody who was unable to attend please check out our Help Center in the next few days recording will be up and easy to send so here we're going to hop right into our admin site so let me pull that up very very quickly So here, also please don't wait till later to ask questions but get them answered in real time so we have a Q and A Panel and we have support ready to assist you with any questions that might might come up during the webinar. We'll collect your questions, so if you are following a long you can open up your admin site and this year what we're doing is we're making shopping for school supplies faster and easier than ever and we want to show you how it's as simple as clicking a link to find a student's school supply list so another poll very quickly how many times do you think a parent has to go into a store to purchase school supplies, let's think about this okay just there we go so how many times does a parent have to the store? For me it was probably three to four times which I think a lot of you kind of experience the same thing I've never purchased them online before and so I think this is a really great idea. There's some heroes who only only go into the store one time and get everything so that takes some talent for sure so definitely 72% of you say three to four times I'm going into a store that's a lot of trips to the store, right? A lot of trips to the store so what we want to do is we want to make this easier for you to not have to keep going to the store you don't have to print out list you don't have to try to keep track that crumpled paper that you stuffed into your purse for me clicking multiple times to try to find it on the site while my kids are losing it in the shopping cart or squinting to read the items on the phone as I'm also pushing the cart and keeping my children from flying out of the cart so let's just be honest there's no way to track purchases on a PDF on a device instead what we want to show you is that parents and let me just Slide the screen over very quickly for you so parents can have a link to have direct access to a supply list and not just a list where they can see the items where they can actually add those items to the cart for purchase as you can see on the screen here so each supply list has a series of buttons that direct to the store their choice and they simply click and all of the items will be added to the shopping cart so on that specific shopping cart the parent can add for example if they want to add another set of pencils, they can delete items if they decide they wouldn't you know they maybe have something already, so very easy process but let's talk really quickly about how easy it is to get started what does it look like before the list is up on the website as of just showing you the parents can purchase the supplies but what what do you as the web admin do to get this started so again you can look at your dashboard you can also go to your hamburger menu and find the feature: "Supply Lists" that's where your list will be housed okay so you can click there. What what we're going to do first though, we're going to see how a supply list can be added to a page okay so for example you could either create a page or use a previously created page for example at a teacher's landing page and be able to add that list so let me just show you what it looks like on the live end so this is a specific teacher's page and she has chosen a couple different places where she she can provide that supply list, not to overdo it but also not to just have it in one place to be easily overlooked so here the parent can click there, they have a nice button to go to also in the section menu to find the supply list or to order class supplies here so what's so once you go to your page will let me just show you back quickly this works I'm going to add actually instead of on a teacher page I'm going to show you how a web admin could create a page that includes all of the supply lists for that particular school so let's go to Page Management > Pages and I've already created this page so I'm just going to search for it and open up this page and here you know I've already created a page and added buttons here that I will attach links to just by clicking add and then choosing a button very easy I want to show you is how to first add your supply list to the page so we're going to scroll down to the add button know many of you are familiar with this because this is where you add content, photos, your staff blocks, so here you might have noticed already that you have a new Supply List button so we're going to click on that and in this Manage Supply List window this is where you get to choose you can either see the lists that you've already added or you have the option to upload new lists so here I've already added my list I'm going to choose my Kindergarten Supply List and I would click "Save" if you don't see any list there, what you would do is choose "Upload New List" and simply drag them or choose a spot from your computer to put them to grab them and place them there So, as soon as we click save, now you can see the Kindergarten Supply List hyperlinked right there as soon as we click publish this will be showing up on our page and I will show you the live view so this is an excellent way to share for example if you're a K-5 Charter School and you want to do your parents to have access to all of the lists because maybe they have multiple children or if you want to just share this the quickest easiest way possible, now you can scroll down and you see Kindergarten Supply List and when parents click there they will go to this page that I showed you just a moment ago to be able to add the items to the cart of their choice a very very easy way to do that so a couple of other options here but first let's do another poll because you do for me I was a 7th grade teacher I loved being able to see the faces of my students, we're always hiding behind our screens so let's get to know each other a little bit the next poll is going to ask you to share what your current role is on your school's website so very curious who is hiding behind their screens over there so it looks like we have a lot of web admins we have a couple teachers welcome teachers we have some principals some tech directors and some other I'm guessing maybe librarians if you're an other please feel free to pop your role in in the chat we would love to hear who's out there so thanks so much for participating in the poll looks like the the bulk of you are web admins who are working behind the scenes to make sure that everybody has what they need and knows what their job is so thank you so much for your service so let's move on now to the ways that this feature helps teachers and parents okay we've already alluded to that just a tiny bit but the last thing we want to talk about here is: the last thing a teacher wants to do the week before school is answer lots of emails about school supplies I think everybody on this webinar at remembers and understands what that week before school is like there's not enough hours in the day to fit in the professional development there's kids coming to visit to find their classroom there are so many logistics to figure out with buses so the last thing a teacher should be worrying about is not having what the students need to learn I know this feeling well. A teacher should be able to plan ideas for lessons, get to know students and their needs before they get to my room and most importantly decorate my classroom right to make it a warm and welcoming place, so the first days of school are a blur so at Edlio what we want to do is help teachers do what they do best, teachers can focus on what matters so teachers specifically and web admins this is good for you to know to be able to kind of guide these teachers this is what some things that teachers can do to place, some ways that teachers can place the lists on their pages so let's hop over to our teacher page again, teachers can a hyperlink a phrase as I showed you before not just in their greeting but also in their email, a link can be placed into a calendar event you know we've got our class calendar many of our teachers are using Google Calendar that attaches to Google Classroom you can add the link as a post which I've done right here and I could go on and on with all the ways you could use a link, I just thought now, I used to use Remind 101 a lot for tutorials so that link could easily be popped into there, Schoology feeds, another way a teacher can send out a class email using Email Sender so when a teacher goes to "Announce" and then down to Email Sender this would take them you know one minute apps to create a new email and pop a news item that they've already created or hyperlink that into the into the email sender newsletter the thing is here is that when parents are clicking on Read More they would go straight to the page to the teacher's page instead of to a separate list so this you know continues to bring them back here finally but the link could be emailed out but instead of just a PDF this link could again send them back straight back to the Supply List and instead of digging around and making multiple clicks they are able to just purchase their supplies, that's the goal here we also have, I'll show you in just a moment, some resources that we are providing for our web admins and teachers to give to parents so that the parents have less questions and feel more supported so old ways of getting supply list out to parents at this point if you have any to add please pop those in the chat as well so some ways that we've done this before we sent it by mail we literally put supply lists into envelopes and sent them to our parents, we had parents pick up a paper in the office by least favorite way of finding my daughter's Supply List during virtual learning last year was having it embedded into a comment on a schoology class feed so definitely that was really complicated when I was trying to find that in the aisle at Walmart this this school list that wasn't even a PDF it was a it was just a list embedded into a comment so tracking purchases on a PDF we all know that's awkward bumping it the wrong way or losing the screen means you have to go find it again when kids are maybe losing their patience in the shopping cart or I turn into the aisle into someone's way and I have to reread the list to see what I've grabbed so here's how Edlio helps parents so parents again can purchase online directly from the you know the store of their choice and have those supplies sent to their home or available for pickup they can find those supplies easily with no distractions the kids are scrambling around the shopping cart maybe they're throwing items into the cart that they don't need the parent can edit or remove items as needed much easier doing it on here as we know then in the shopping cart because you're purchasing these online you won't let your kids talk you into buying things but you don't need also as I have shown you before on this right here parents who have students in different grade levels can go to the same place to access all of those supply lists in the same manner, connected to the same shopping carts so this is also great for districts who want to kind of accumulate the school supply lists together in one place they can gather the links for the lists and place them on a page together and share this link out in this I have just gone in, which any user can do is go in to change the link to be a user-friendly link here so we have some Edlio schools who have also discovered one more key to their parents' happiness that I wanted to show you and this is by using something called an interactive shuffle so and I I'm not a graphic designer but I was able to do this very quickly so that anyone can do this go in and create a graphic and place it as a as an item in your Shuffle which most of you have access to and instead of just being a pretty picture this is actually clickable and clicking there will take the parent directly to the Supply List page which has all of their instructions and the links, the buttons to each list I also want to show you what it looks like on the mobile because we know most of our community is using the mobile device so a parent is looking for the supply list they come to your website they see the shuffle right away they click they're sent straight to this page on their mobile they can read the instructions hey my daughter is in kindergarten and they click on the list automatically can send these items to their cart So, how much easier can it get? before we talk about some more ideas for sharing, let's do our final poll I don't know about you but I get in lots of trouble with my Amazon cart so what is your perfect reward now that you've figured out a very easy way to purchase school supplies what is your perfect reward that you want to add to your cart very good I would like probably all of those things right now so I don't know which one I would choose it looks like we almost had a tie but definitely we love those Yeti's excellent okay so you have definitely earned a reward for finishing up the school year and getting you know, coming to this place for you realize you could do things better next year so let's talk before we were just about to wrap up, we're racing through this, ways to share and as a mom sharing is a skill we supposedly learned when we were little kids so let's talk about the ways that Edlio gives you opportunities to practice sharing so once the list has been added to a page as I've just shown you as a link below on this page right here it now has a link attached to it so that link that's the link that you can easily grab from your url but I wanted to show you a couple other ways to do that so if you're following along let's go back to our dashboard and we are going to scroll to supply list and let's actually click on the feature Supply Lists and do you see this button up in the top right corner "Share Lists" you can click there and here we've really tried to fast-track this for you because we know how how busy you are so you can copy the link very easily you can add the link to that page directly to site navigation which means now your visitors can go and find supply list directly in your drop downs, another thing you could do as you can add this to News and the difference here you're not just clicking and opening news what we've done we've included ready to send text for all of your communication methods to auto-populate what that means is the text for this item what we're trying to do here will automatically transfer over for example you click on "Add To News" and it's not just a blank screen but it's actually giving you all of the information that you need basically you just need to choose where to post it and if you do you could slide a photo in on to be your featured photo, edit any of the texts that you would like to and when you return to your page, this will show up as a news item so for anyone who is subscribed to your news page right here to your news items they will get this notification and they can easily click on the school Supply List, so that's one way we've tried to make this easier for you you could also send out a broadcast which you know you could send out a voice email and or text message with the click of one button that would also include all of that information auto-populated pre-populated for you it's very important to note there that this also includes translations so if you have you know a large population in your school that speaks a different language you can include that translation in that Broadcast this one right here App Alerts if you have access to the School News App which most of you do, you can push a notification directly to your community's School News App they would get a notification, they would open the message and get taken straight to the link that you provide so I can listen to it then reading a PDF or something in their email, they're being taken right back to your website which is our goal. Email Sender, as I've shown you before with what teachers can do if it's your role to send out the email newsletter you can easily add this information into a newsletter format just with the click of one button and finally probably my favorite here Social Media Manager you can push this message out to your social media account, as many people as we know are looking at Twitter and Facebook Parents can click on the post and they can go straight to the teacher's page or the All Supply List page for you if you have your social media accounts connected here once you click on the appropriate account everything is pre-populated you could add a photo and decide when to post it and this will show up on your social media, so as we're closing here today I don't want to lose you yet because I have some very very important information to kind of close with here with we have some tools that are just for you we want to make this as easy as possible as I've probably mentioned probably too many times, we have some PDF QuickStart Guides for you this first one this is a quick start guide for Users I think I've, oh no, I had the parents when you're getting your teachers on board to kind of understand how this works you can send this QuickStart Guide to them which shows everything that I just showed you another one you have a quick start guide for families so this can be sent out in perhaps an email or a newsletter to give parents a visual of how this works, finally we have created for you web admins working fearlessly on the back end this is an overview that will cover any questions that you might have about the specifics and as always we have a support team that's ready to assist you.
