Hi everyone thanks for joining us today today we're going to be talking about how to use features in a clever way as always our webinars will be recorded and it will be added here Our Help Center when we are complete So today we're going to talk about how we can use some of our features in unique ways to highlight special events such as graduation or your seniors so today what we're going to do is I'm going to show you new ways to use our news and announcements and our Spotlight messages so when we log into the admin we will come here to our dashboard and first we're going to update our news and alerts while you can of course use your news and alerts for news you can also use them as a blog if you will so when we come here to our news and alerts and we click add news rather than putting up a regular news item I'm going to use it today to highlight our graduating seniors So we will add our headline here and any sort of a short summary you'd like and of course your content If you would like to add images or if you'd like to link to a source you can do that here as well so we'll go ahead and drag and drop our image here add our alternative text and if you'd like to schedule your post to go out so you don't have to log in and make these updates each week or each day you can actually plan ahead and you can schedule when you want this to be posted here and we will click save and of course with our news feature you have the option to send this out to other channels so you can have it goes straight to your social media we can make it a homepage pop-up alert we can send it out via our Broadcast We can send it to the school news app as well as adding it to our e-mail newsletters so when we come back to our lives site and do a couple of refreshes and scroll down to our news you'll see here we have our new articles with our senior of the week And when we click on this we're going to be taken to our full article here So then we come back here we can also highlight our seniors by updating our Spotlight message so we'll come here to announce and our spotlight message and we can simply edit what we currently have add our text and we can update our picture here add our new photo and we can edit our text here Click save so you can see now our principals message has been updated to our seniors Do our refresh and now you can see the principal message is now highlighting our graduating seniors so we have our updated title and we have our updated button here when we click on that it's going to take us directly to that Spotlight message highlighting our seniors Another great way to highlight particular events or in this case our graduating seniors is you can actually create a page and then we can link to that page so you can use that page also as a Running Blog for any of the updates so when we come to page management and pages we'll select which category we want and which section we would like and you can see here in the section we've already started our our congratulations to our seniors so we can click into this page and you can see we have our title here we've uploaded some images and then we can go ahead and add additional content so we can make this collapsible and add our content add our text here we can even come here if we want we can add another photo so we're just basically building out this nice landing page to highlight our seniors and get all of that information across Click publish now if we come back here we can check out our section here but what we can also do is copy this URL come to our homepage widgets We can add our button widget here paste that URL of our section and we have made some updates to our homepage widgets so you have the option to have your widget move with the page here so it's not always going to be on the screen as you scroll or you can have it stick to the window so as you scroll it's always going to be visible we also have the option to select our colors here So let's go ahead and save Come back to our site and refresh and you can see here now we have our senior highlights widget so when we click on that we're being redirected to our new section that we created you can see here we have our collapsible boxes so this is a great way to create a blog on an inside page to highlight any sort of event that you're having we have our calendar here in our section that's dedicated directly to our seniors here Another great way to highlight specific events will also be using our calendar so when we come to our calendars we can add our events here you can select which calendar you would like this to go to when we would like this to be so we're going to have this be a weekly lunch every Monday and click save So now when we scroll down you can see here our weekly senior lunch has been added to our calendar and if we scroll down you can see our weekly senior lunch has been added to our calendar Additionally you have the option up here rather than just using a video of your campus you could also highlight special events in your video section or if you have a home page photo Shuffle you can add images and you can link to those special events on any inside Pages or redirect to an outside source as well so as a quick recap we can use our news and announcements as a Blog we have our calendars and of course our Spotlight message here where we can highlight special events our homepage widget here that takes us to our inside page highlighting our seniors thanks so much for joining us today for our webinar
