Hello, everyone! Thank you for joining us today. My name is Cathy and I'm in the client success team here at at Edlio and I'm also here with Sergio from our tech support team. He's here to answer any questions you may have so feel free to ask your questions in the Q&A. This webinar is being recorded so feel free to check the help center in a couple of days to view this recording as well as other previously recorded webinars. So today's webinar is about creating staff blocks in pages and how that ties into your teacher pages. so the first thing I'm going to do is I am going to go into our Pages feature and I'm going to build a staff directory page keep in mind that anything that you build into staff blocks the users are pulling from user management so be sure to have all of your users uploaded if you need assistance with that please feel free to reach out to your client success specialist we are here to help answer any questions about the admin site and we also have resources in the help center which can be found in the admin site so we have previously recorded webinars here for you as well as help articles so be sure to check out the help center we made this separate website for you so that you can have this as a resource Alright, so as I've mentioned we're going to go ahead and create a staff page in our Pages feature I'm currently logged in as a web administrator and this webinar is really geared towards web admins but teachers can also log in and create teacher pages and I'll cover that in a moment here so inside pages we're going to choose a category of our choice so I want to add my staff page in this category here in the about us for the sake of this demo I'm going to go ahead and delete this so that we can build one from scratch alright so let's create a new page and we're going to create a blank page and let's give this page a title Alright, so with pages as you know you can also choose a layout again all of this information is in the help center if you need assistance with pages feel free to check the help center for previously recorded webinars as well as help center articles I'm going to choose a layout that doesn't have any section menus is just a a layout here and then I'm going to add a staff search button as well as staff so the staff list that you're seeing here this is from user management so it's pulling all the users from user management and you can either select all of your users, you can cherry-pick the ones that you'd like to display, you can search for certain users so for this one I'm going to add and with your staff list you can filter them by first name last name or position it's going to display them in alphabetical order. so let's go ahead and add everybody here and now that I have everyone we can I'm actually going to remove Alright so I'm going to remove I remove one of these users and then we're going to choose a layout so I want to use this layout and then maybe we can add some content so I'm going to add some text I meant I want to add this to the top just drag and drop and then we can drag-and-drop the users so that they are ordered in the we can order them in the way that we want them to be displayed Perfect! okay so I'm going to go ahead and publish this. You can keep building your staff page so you can add text you know you can utilize these page blocks and continue to build out your staff page let's take a look at the public facing site and this is what it looks like and I'm ready to add this to our drop-down menu here our staff I'm sorry our site navigation so I'm going to go into actions and I'm going to add this to my site navigation and I'm going to drag this up to the container area where I want this to be displayed so there are a couple ways to do this actually save this but you can from even your dashboard so let's say you were in the admin site you can go into site management stop navigation and you can add that same page from here so you can click on add new item select your page I'm going to go ahead and search for that page like that and then you can save your change let's actually go to our home page and then we have our staff page that we just built let's click into it and you can view of all of the teachers you know you have your search function up here and if I want to view this teacher page if I click on the teacher name I am directed to the teacher page so, pages is available for both teachers and web admins teachers can build personal pages so they can build this page when they log into the admin site they won't have access to any other areas unless they're given the access privileges but they can build their own teacher page and web admins can go into the teacher pages as long as that teacher is not a web admin they can go in and edit that information on the teacher page as well so with this teacher page parents can subscribe and then view this bio page so the first page that's created is usually that's going to be the about me or biography page so on this page I have no you can utilize your page blocks so I have my about me I have photos we have collapsible documents PDF documents I have added here my classes as well as buttons so you can add buttons that link over to a separate site and then we have our posts, so this is all accessible to the teacher they can add their information here and they also have calendars so you can add some events as well as videos and then post which is mostly it functions like a bulletin board so it's just very simple information that you can add on the post feature as well as supply lists this is another pretty recent feature that we've rolled out and it's available for everyone to use in the admin site we do have information about this in the help center as well as a webinar that we just did so be sure to check that out if you have any questions feel free to reach out to your client success specialist. Alright, so we have our teacher page setup there are other examples that I could show you but I do want to get started and show how you can build out the teacher page I'm currently logged in as a web administrator so what I'm going to do is I'm going to build a separate teacher page I'm going to go into user management and let's say we have a new teacher on board and let's say that I as the web administrator I'm going to build a teacher page for her so then we can go into her user profile and search for her Jane she's our history teacher I want to add her photo I'm going to add her to our staff page as well as add her bio so this is kind of a common question that I do get asked by web administrators when they have their teachers maybe they want to create a bio page for each teacher when you first are setting this up and then maybe you are looking to have some kind of uniformity so web administrators can go in and add the teacher page and get that started for them so I'm in user management I'm going to go ahead and update the photo let's add a profile photo here Alright so I'm going to go ahead and crop this reposition it and I'm going to save this Alright, so I have her photo here now I want to add pages so this is my view of Jane's profile page from as a web administrator so I'm going to go into her pages and right now she doesn't have anything if I click on the public link this is what I see so let's add a bio for her I'm going to add a page and we're going to create a blank page and again you have all these layouts here to choose from I'm going to keep this layout and I'm going to add Jane's profile here and this is directly from again staff blocks let's go ahead and add some text and we can add some photos, the accepted file types are listed here and they're listed right here and then you can upload from these you have these options here let me choose some photos here I'm going to add my alt text so let's say that I have my photos now I'm going to choose the layout I'm going to keep this layout, I want my photos to rotate and for the width because it's not a full width page I'm going to keep it and then let's add some files on the side so I want to add more items here on the side bar or section menu area Alright, so I've added my PDF. I'm going to rename this. Then we can of course add some files we can add supply list so let's add supply list these are previously generator supply lists of course as I've mentioned previously be sure to check that out if you're interested in this. It makes it very easy for parents to purchase supplies for their children or the students I think I am pretty much done and ready to publish my page, so I'm going to go ahead and publish this and now we can go into the public facing site and we have our bio page. Alright, so as you can see here there is an area to subscribe so this allows your parents to subscribe to your teacher page and then they can also subscribe to your class page and I'll go over that in just a moment here but once they subscribe they'll receive an email each day when you make an update to your teacher page so they'll receive updates for the class that they subscribe to and you as a teacher will have a contact list that's generated every time you have a subscriber you'll see that in your contact list feature to provide an example of that I can go ahead and briefly subscribe to Jane's page okay so I've signed up for this teacher page and if we go into the admin site we can go into Contact Lists I'm going to filter this so I can view Jane Doe's personal page. There is my information here because I just subscribed to this. This will also be available for the teacher so Jane can log in and see that she has a subscriber she can utilize this contact list to send out emails as well through our newsletter feature Okay so I've added her information now I want to add Jane to our staff directory so let's go into the page here and we can add her to this list so we're going to click on manage staff let's search for her we're going to add her here we have Jane on our staff directory. So now if we go into the public facing homepage when parents go into this page, Jane's information is there we can click her and we are presented with her teacher page so another thing that Jane can do is continue to build her teacher page so let's go in to Jane's personal page edit pages and let's add another page. So this will automatically create a section menu what I mean by that is that the section menu is going to auto-populate right here I'm actually going to remove this and then let's go we can add a calendar so let's add this calendar and I'm going to add an event. I'm going to add and then you can change the date and time at the location or make this a recurring event, add a URL as well as other details like other text, attach some images or files I'm going to go ahead and just save this and when we go to Jane's class now. I'm going to refresh. We have our section menu here so I'm going to click on calendar and if we go to show all events we have this event that we just created and parents can subscribe as well to your calendar so let's go ahead and add a class. So, I'm going to add a class and I'm doing this as a web administrator. The teacher view is different and I've covered that in a previous webinar as well so if you want to see this from a teacher's perspective we also have a webinar on that in the help center okay so I'm going to say that this is a history course. I can add a period if I like and we can assign it a department. We can add descriptions, so and then I'm going to add the teacher here so I'm going to assign it to Jane Doe and we can attach files to this as well Alright, so let's go ahead and save this so now if we go to Jane's teacher page we have her classes here. We also have Google integration so if you have Google class teachers can also integrate their Google class in their teacher page so when they're adding this class as long as they have Google integration enabled, they'll be able to go in and connect to their Google classroom Okay, so we have her class here and let's just build one more page just for good measure. We got to go into Jane's profile edit Pages and let's add one more page Alright, so this one I want to add a layout with a hero image so when you have the hero layout you can add photos, you can add the section menu so that the section menu is displayed on the top you can add the buttons there as well. I'm going to add let's go ahead and give this a page title and then we can add the page blocks once again so for anyone that's like starting out with teacher pages I just suggest that you go in and just kind of play around with it. You can save these as drafts and you can also go and view them so let's say that I saved this as a draft I can go in and just kind of look at the preview before I publish this page as well so I would just suggest going in and just kind of familiarizing yourself with building your teacher page Alright, so I have my text I'm going to add some files and with these files you can drag and drop these files into the order that you would like for them to be displayed, I do want to go ahead and make this collapsible so I'm going to say that these are important documents and you can rename them. And you can also if it's a PDF you can show them as an embedded document. Alright, so I do want to add just one more thing. You can add, you can also embed videos. This is something that I've been asked pretty often so I wanted to show this to you all as well you can get the embed code from the video feature but if you have it on YouTube you can also grab that embed code from YouTube as well. Let's go ahead and select this media option from our toolbar and then we're going to click on embed paste my code and then we have are embedded video as well. If you would like some assistance with this feel free to contact us but essentially you would grab the embed code either from there is an option to do that in YouTube under share and you can also do that within the Edlio video feature I'm going to go ahead and publish this. So now when we Alright, so we had refreshed this page and then we have our calendar. I just showed that to you and let's go into lessons and here is our lessons page with our embedded video and real quick this can be found under the video feature under Media, Videos and Audio. You can copy that embed code here. Okay, so let's go into our website again. When parents are looking for a teacher, they can go into the drop down menu they can search for the specific teacher and then they can click on her profile and be directed to her Teacher Page.
