we will go ahead and get started now hello everyone good morning and thank you for joining us today for the website accessibility and he learned webinar I'm mad from Elias technical support team and 88 support leave early today I wanted to go over some quick tips with you about best accessibility practices when working on your website for this section I I really wanted to focus on pages pages is what we use on a website is our example website here ages of what we will be using in your websites to filled out your internal pages on all these pages I fill up your menu and this is what one of our patients I hear this is something I would together real quick for example today but you'll have something similar to this when you want to make a page or you know whether it's introducing your staff mission statement Weber school event going on anything like that we're going to be building cages within our edlio site and so we have a bunch of built-in tools within pages that will help us build our web pages in an accessible way and so I kind of wanted to spend some time they going over that this is what the pages look like on the inside and I was already working on this one a little bit so you'll know this you know we have some text we got some links we got some pic a flyer here flyer we got some subscribe here by this buttons and a lot of this copied over as usually would you know if it comes from a Word document or a PDF or something like that a lot of the times we are just going to copy text and paste it into these into these pages which is usually fine but if we're worried about accessibility we're going to want to do a little more work here so once we get into our Pages here one thing that you can do in one of the tools that we have built into the system here is our savior so we'll make some changes here like I just did and instead of pushing them out right away we can go into our menu here and we can preview this draft and we actually have wave built in here wave is an excellent tool by a company over here webcam what's Google up with Iowa to here they have a page Checker that we can use and this is starting to I like an industry standard tool here we have that built into the system so we'll go ahead and click this guy I'll show you what this looks like so here's our page that were working on that preview of the page and which is our wave pool and it's actually breaking down the errors and the contrast errors that we're getting on the page but also is going to alert us to some things we might be interested in and that's not to say that these are errors but I'll make it potentially being a just want to stay check on these and then wave is also going to show us what we're doing right so you know what features were implemented correctly you know your structure your pay structure and this is more on the developer side but let's go ahead and jump details here a lot of this stuff is our things that we have to help you with over on the support and you do things like header and design those are things that we can always help out with if you notice any issues but for now we're going to go ahead and turn off all the all the good features here all the structural features that's all the kids stuff we're doing we just want to focus on the what when you're worried about right now so we got some contrast going on if you noticed when I click on this one the first one it doesn't show me right away where this issue is if that's the case it's usually part of the design and it's something you're going to want to get in touch with my team supporting bout we just want to focus on the ones that Speedy's glad he's visible flag ones this is really what kind of want to keep our Focus and so you can see the second one right away we got that contract issue contrast is referring to colors but this gray on a white background isn't very visible especially if you're a little hard of seeing or if you have certain types of colorblindness you might not even see that this is a link so we kind of want to put more contrast between the color of this link and then the background and we can do that in our Pages editor but this is a great tool for showing us where these issues lie so we got another one here real ink on white background and yeah they don't like any of our grades that we talked it over from our PDF so we definitely have to look at those and then we got some stuff going on in the design here so then we got some alerts that stuff into these eyes reading level usually this happens yeah it won't work when we're copying over from another document sometimes these things are mismatched and when you're creating a document headings like to go in a certain order so usually typically it'll be like our our first heading rh1 here then we have these guys we should be like H2 or you know the second title on the page we only want one H1 on your page and then you got to go into Sunday order H2 H3 H4 so he is warning us that we skipped ahead and level do you want to actually take a look at the Nitty Gritty we can go in here to this code tab click on our error here title and you'll see the H3 it's a heading level so it looks like we either went from H1 to H3 right away we didn't use H2 anywhere or something similar to that's will definitely take a look at that I'm thinking with these two they don't like our Hatter ordering here which is something we can fix quickly and then when these icons are hidden like this is typically something that's hidden to us on the front end, if you run into this things are going to get in touch with us over at sport but I'm going back to here now so that's our our way built-in scan to we're here pretty much we just pull up a preview of your page and we're going to do a way to align it gospel singer for you to use and other we know what our errors are we have a good idea of what we want to fix we can jump back in here some of the built-in tools we have for these issues include a cleaning formatting didn't seem like that big of a of a tool but actually comes in handy especially when we're pasting texts from other documents in this case we have all these lovely great text we got from PDF so you're that out it only flag me for the the links but I'm going to just go ahead and do this for all my texts just so we can kind of restyle here bachata like all of this and I clear formatting typically we're going after a funk shway this little to get it to look just right but we send the formatting here now you can see color and all this is a really helpful tool me copy over styles from other documents let's go ahead and save this for now That's Amore. Eng's formatting and another thing that wasn't brought up in our scan but is very important is the all text for images it's a very especially when we were showing information in our images that we want our users to be aware of that needs to be presented in the all text so I'm even if it's just that we we do want to put something coming soon in here and maybe some details about will be going on at the event or something like that definitely want to put something more than flyer but I do like the fact September 23rd at least just to let you know that they have an idea we got to keep in mind that some users might not even give me images or might not be able to see these images so that all text is very important we got that fixed up from work on this image but we just want to see what this look like push that out we were at 8 and we cleared some of these alerts we still at these are redundant links go to the same place we can always fix I just making him go to a different place but that's what it means when you get a redundant link you got to the same link on your page and we still have our skip heading levels some real quick got a couple minutes it's just fix those fighting levels I'm so we already have H1 like we said so let's go ahead and change these goblins you can see they're already says header 302 and this is this is a many people we can to find some styles for a text when the headers headed to this guy's well he's already headed to yep down to 7 so yeah that's exactly what it wants a judge to choose and I can see they're giving us the gator the game I can hear what side do you have those are some of the tools we have your built-in clearing formatting we got built-in Styles making sure your headers are in order Altec and another Wicked way of making sure that your staff is on top of a tall text is jumping into your settings over here in site management settings you can jump into accessibility and we have this enable Ada settings Tahoe which will make it'll make it so that before anybody save the page or any kind of photo or video we need to make sure we have captions all text all that good stuff we we make sure that everyone is using it by clicking on this box what's going to save that and now I can't even say this page without having all text on my on my photos just a quick run down here of of our built-in wait till here and how we can use it to make Pages accessible there's a lot more that look into it but I wanted to give you guys a quick overview of some of the common issues like links had her ordering colors very important and
