a specific scenario, but let's talk about a few introductory things first. Again, as I mentioned this recording will be up in the Help Center after the webinar. Any questions you might have, please click on the Q&A panel and we will try to answer them. If if perhaps we don't answer your question we will follow up as soon as the webinar is over by email. And today some of the things we'll talk about... this Help Center,  you might go there as you're watching. help.edlio.com. This is our demo site where we'll be walking through a few things together. This is where you will find the recording for today's webinar and this is a great place to look for short webinars that can help you or someone on your staff perhaps is new, or something you'd like to kind of have a deeper dive into. You can always look at our previous recordings in our Help Center. As we're beginning here I want to talk about is you know, school activities for example. We've got athletic events, we've got school plays, or any kind of testing scenario that's coming up. These are some things that are are definitely important to keep people in the loop about. So today we're going to talk about an example of a school play and how you can help students sign up for participating whether it's through their drama club or a it's an after-school program. So again, we've got the school play happening, our goal is how to increase sign ups for the school play. So, the first place that we're going to go- and if you're following along at home feel free to jump in. Click on your hamburger menu or you can also go to the forms shortcut on your desktop on your dashboard. So we go to forms and we've got a form template that I wanted to show you how to use. And if you've never looked at the form templates as soon as you get into the form module these are all of the forms that you have previously created that exist in your CMS. We're going to click this button new form right here and this gives you the opportunity to search through form templates and what that means is these are forms that have already been created that you can go in and edit yourself to meet your needs specifically as a school. So instead of searching for a new form for this one we've got a form that we've already built that I'm just going to edit just for time's sake. So we've got a form called school play play sign ups. And this was actually edited from...let me hop back over there... a form template called Event Registration and there's another one very similar called Club Registration that has,  I will just open it up,  it has a spot where you can edit the photo and edit the text, decide if there's a different form field you'd like to pull into that form, and definitely use that for your benefit. So here we will pop over to our pre-built form School Play Sign-Ups. Let's open that up real quick and this form will, the purpose of a form is to pull information from your visitors, so this one you know we've got this message here at Edlio College Prep has announced our play The Music Man and kind of some text to entice and encourage them to sign up, join the school play, sign up today.  We want to put some punctuation there. I also would like to add a photo so I'm going to click here, this little photo button and click on the little arrow inside the box to pull this photo from my desktop that I already have ready. I'll add some alt text and click save, and then we'll definitely need to edit the size of this form, excuse me, this image, and decide where we'd like it to be. Actually I'm going to delete that and pop it down after the text because it will definitely go better there. Okay. So let's pop it in and we'll add our alt text again And now we've got an image that will help engagement and people to know what the form's about. So now we have some fields here. We've got student information label and here are the fields that people will be able to fill out. I'll show you what this looks like live but one other field, and anytime you'd like to add another field, you can simply pull the field and drag it over. So for example,  file upload would be a, if you'd like, if there's a PDF that you need someone to sign or anything that they need to drag into a drag box. You can also add fields such as number or phone if you'd like to grab a phone number. So, here we've got student information and then we've got parent information, and we'll be communicating with the parents so we've got it up here- parent email address. And then what role are you interested in?  One thing we realized we'd like to find out the grade of the students. So we're going to go up to the short answer right here and put this right into the field, make it a required question and put student grade so we want to make sure that we have that information when someone fills out the form. So let's click save. I want to show you what this will look like live for someone who clicks on the form. So we've got student signup, let's refresh this again and see if my photo will show up. There we go. So we've got school play sign-ups, we've got our our photo or image information, student information, parent information, so someone can go in and either be interested in cast, crew, or either and once they submit this form the information will be held in your forms feature. So this form has a link and I'm going to show you a couple things that you can with this link to get the word out that you are ready for people to start signing up for this play. Another aspect of forms if you're interested in this is that you can also use a form later down the line, closer to the time when the Music Man play will be held you could actually use a form to collect payment. If that's something you're interested in, it is an add-on feature but it's a very easy and free set up, so I would love for you to reach out to your Client Success Specialist through the email address but I'll put on at the end of the webinar. And what that looks like is, let me show you wanted one example really quick because I would hate for you to miss out on this. Somebody can sign up, actually purchase a ticket through one of your forms so we'll look at Event Conference Service Booking template. And once someone comes to this form they can actually select these items in the form you would just have to add a deposit account which your Client Success Specialist can assist you with. So how do we get some more eyes on this form? Let me show you how that would work. Before we move away let's make sure we have this open in a new tab because we're going to do some things with this link. So we definitely don't want to lose it. But we're going to go back to our Edlio College Prep dashboard and we're going to create a news item and one of my favorite things about the Edlio CMS is the news items because once you create one news item there's so many so many things you can do to announce that news item out to your community so you're not recreating information. You're not copying and pasting you're doing multiple things with one item that you created. So let's hop over to Announce in the the hamburger menu. You could also click News and Alerts on your dashboard We're going to create a news item that will get the word out ,so first thing you do when you get to News and Alerts is click the Add News button. And once this opens up, we decide where we would like to post it. Some people have multiple news categories. We're just going to post this in News and Announcements. I'm going to paste my headline there, join the cast and crew of the school play today. My short summary will be here and you know, again similar information as I had in the form. The next thing that we're going to do, you have a couple options here, if you have an inside page for example, for drama club or school plays, you can link to that page. You can also add more content, more information, any of this. Maybe you could truncate it if you think this is too long. If you have a flyer,  a lot of people love doing this,  if you have a PDF flyer you can also upload that flier there be accessible. But what we're going to do, we're going to link directly to that form. So we want people to be able to find it and have no problems finding that form. So we're going to click there, again I'm going to add that photo image that I was using because I think that will help draw more attention to this news item. You can decide when you'd like to post that. I'm going to add my ALT text. And Alt text, that ensures that anybody that's on your site trying to read this news item would be able to access that if they have any kind of a visual disability, but they would be able to read this with a screen reader have that play my audio. We're going to click save. Once we post this news item it will show up on our News spot and so everybody's design every one of your CMS designs might have this in a different spot, so we're going to make sure that that saved go back to our CMS and refresh a few times and then we will scroll down to our News spot and make sure that that news item is showing up. If you'd like to post it later you can always choose a different time so now in our News and Announcements spot we have our school play join the cast and crew of the school play today. Some of you have this similar effect where you hover and you can read the summary. People can also go to the Show all News page. Some of you might have this linked somewhere on your page and gives gives your people another chance to interact with that. The next thing that I want to do is what I mentioned a second ago,  about you know just wonderful things that you can do with News items. There's so many ways to announce that. You can push that directly to your social media if you have that set up and social media manager. Help Center shows you how to do that, your CSS will definitely be able to walk you through that. It's wonderful because again you're not recreating news you're not copying it, you're not linking to it it's fully integrated. The next one is homepage alert which were actually going to do. And we're going to create a homepage alert that will expire the day after our the day after so the final day to sign up is January 31st and so we're going to have it expire the next morning. Once you click post we're going to go back over to our home page and refresh a few times and in seriously 30 seconds now I have a homepage pop-up alert showing up on my site for anyone that will come visit the great thing about a homepage pop-up alert is that a person has no choice but to interact with it they can choose okay I see this, they can read more information, they can click don't show agin, but they definitely see this. it's not something they have to go digging around looking for. Another thing, So we have that turned on right now so it'll keep showing up another thing you could do is send out a Broadcast, and the best thing about Edlio's broadcast feature is that you have one screen you can send send a message out via email, voice and text with the click of one button. Super easy to set up reach out to your Client Success Specialist if you're interested in that. The one I want to show you next is App Alerts. If any of you have have School News App set up, if you do not please understand this was something that was a previous paid add-on that now is offered free for all of our Edlio clients. People love our School News App. I'm just going to show you really quickly this information can be transferred directly to the App Alerts feature, but we have to truncate it, we have to shorten it a little bit so we are going to take some text out of there just to make sure that we're meeting our character limit. So we'll just say sign up today and the link that they click will go to that news item so they can read more information about it. So, let's click Send Now and I'm going to show you what looks like on your parents' School News app so it moving my phone over so that you can view this hopefully you can see this on your end as soon as you click you get a notification, you open you click the link and boom you have that information. Your parents have the ability to click this link and immediately fill out this form on their mobile device while their sitting in traffic, easily on their phone through School News App. So the other part of School News App that I truly adore is this, the tabs at the bottom, you can click events and and see all of the events going on on that site as well as news, so previous news items they get to your visitors can view all of that as well anytime I receive a notification. So, speaking of events that's another wonderful thing that you could do is add that information to your calendar we won't do that for time's sake but you could for example if the last day to sign up is the 31st of January let me skip this down just a tiny bit. Then you could create a calendar event that will show up here that will say 3 days until days left to sign up for the school play and that can link to the news item so that's another way to kind of get the word out there. So another really cool aspect here that we can do is make sure that you can send out an email newsletter. So if you've never done this before I guess one of the things that our clients love the most about our email newsletter feature, by the way it's hamburger menu and you can scroll down to Announce and over to Newsletters you can also find it on your dashboard right here. Newsletters pulls automatically, it's integrated with your News and Events feature. The best part here, you've created a News item, we've created an event and now whenever we create a new Newsletter we can simply pull from those events and news and put them directly into the layout and a contact list can be connected to this which can easily be added by a CSV template and so let's click, we're just going to use the News lay out here so we've got, When you open up a template like this the first thing that you do is you add kind of a header here for this specific template but make sure you play around with some of the other templates to find the one that works best for you. I'm super going to say school play Sign up by January 31st and we can format that any way that you could like make it larger the next thing that will do is hop over into this section here which allows us to automatically pull from our News. We're going to click Add News and simply pop this new story right into our newsletter so you click continue you decide who's going to receive that, you connect your contact list, decide when it's going out. Let me show you what the actual newsletter would look like. So here you have a beautiful email to go out will draw attention. The best part of Edlio's Newsletter feature is that when they click read more this is sending traffic directly to your site because they go directly to that form. Even in your form if you'd like to do if you have a page you could link to the page of in the text with the beginning at the top to even further draw traffic to your website. So we are increasing engagement, we're making sure that the sign up is very easy to access and we're highlighting school activities in multiple different ways because school community is important. It's important to increase hype to get kids excited. If you had an inside page, for example, that could be found under your drop down menu for parents activities, let me just pick what I haven't looked at these so we'll see what we get here. You could have one that's called Drama Club and it could have a video of a previous performance or tryouts information, or about uniforms or excuse me costumes questions that possibly would keep parents from being being excited about it if they thought they had to dig around for more information. Even in this inside page you could have a side in the section menu going to a calendar or away from them to subscribe to receive information about that. The final thing that I'd like to show you today before we wrap up is what we call the Spotlight Message feature. I'm just going to pop back to my homepage here. Many of your designs have what's called a the Spotlight Message. Some designs have multiple Spotlight Messages.one two, or three. This one has one I'm going to show you. This is a way to increase engagement by adding information about something, for example, a final game and you can add a photo as your headline in your information and connect a custom link to this read more button. You could even change the name of the button, which I think is wonderful because that's another way that we try to give you as much customization as possible. The way that you find Spotlight Message, let's hop back over to our dashboard, is by clicking on your hamburger menu and going back to Announce, and you're going to scroll down to Spotlight Messages. And you can edit a previous one, so I see a lot of different Spotlight Messages. I see people being very very creative with them to use them for things like testimonials or student of the month, feature a teacher, some super cool ways that schools can use this Spotlight Message to reach out to your people. So here we've got this. We've got our headline you can go in and change the text. You don't even have to have text there if you'd like to connect it to an inside page but definitely it helps to get people excited and know what's going on, especially when it's a call to action, vote now or maybe you connect it to a poll or form where people can vote. You can even drag a PDF file in that can be attached once open this up. So once we click Read More on this page we're were taken to an inside page where we can just get a little deeper where it we have access to that PDF. You can have that also connect to an inside page where it says custom link and can provide something different. So, lots of ways here to get the word out and actually I have text here that I will just pop in so that it becomes a little bit more realistic here for you. So you can give even an update after the game just to get the word about how it went without even doing a whole lot of editing of the Spotlight Message. So you know more people come to your website the more they know that your editing and an updating as much as possible. So once we refresh a few times, we will then scroll down to see Spotlight Message has changed. So here we go, we got information specifically about that game and we would change the headline. So it's just a great way to bring people into the loop. So, as we wrap up today, I thank you so much for attending. I want to draw your attention one more time to The Help Center.
