Using Your Edlio Site to Address Bullying [Edlio Webinar]

A recent study found that one out of every five students reported being bullied. alright everyone thank you so much for joining us today for this my atleo webinar now today we are covering a very serious topic that really been affects all schools not even schools really really affect kind of everyone to some degree Anna and that's bullying we try to focus these topics are some things that are relevant to schools and the best way that you know you all can use a these features in your CM s to make your school or District better but this one this this particular topic came to me when I saw a statistic that I kind of thought it was pretty alarming and and that is the one in five students have reported being bullied in their lives and those are just the instances that are being reported so today we really want to a highlight some ways that you may be able to help but using your edlio site to address bullying at your school. Right in it really the first I want to highlight here is I you know giving a space 44 really anybody to report a bullying incident you know what they saw regardless if they were the victim witness that I'm near sometimes the victim of bullying is afraid come forward out of fear of any sort of reprisal or anything from from their belief that the best place to start is a tabouli a reporting form to go ahead and report any bullying that you might witness or be victim of in in your schools started here we are going to come up here to the hamburger drop-down menu Grant form to come over and over here too but right there that quick on Crazy Horse go right here don't do our forms now while I'm normally would go in and filled out this form I would show you know how you can ask questions and everything but we actually have a template specifically for this of you go into your earliest a mess right now he's trying to build out this form I'll show you where you can find a template we already have we can go in and we can kind of make some vacation site in there together with all these forms you just want to do something straight up on your own this blank form you see here with a bunch of different clubs emergency contacts Building Maintenance things like that this one right here bully reporting this is the one we want to start with hear click on that are you serious it's pretty straightforward to the victim that who was bullied by things like that we kind of work our way down type of bullying now what are things I do want to change here so what's that you know somebody wants to anonymously report this and I think we should we should be able to give him the option to do that went over here when uncheck that required box there can't work our way down here and kind of see what we have we wouldn't save that also that you were given a new name to ECP body reporting I believe College Prep will be reporting awesome okay and start committing any instances of bullying that they say but I want to come back here just want to do a couple more things with this form but come back over here to our forms okay we'll come over here to these three. I want to take a look at the at the Forum options here okay I notification emails you can set this up so I thought you want out any time that there is any sort of submission form the email address of anyone that you would like to receive vacation when those come in Glen at myself there respond to save those changes alright I'm going to go make some more changes in their tubes what are the options we have there let's go over here to behavior that we want to change that button there where they submit their response we change that they're think that's fine for now over here thank you babe so once you go in goes in and submit this form they'll go ahead and I will see this thank you page here and I'm going to send a thank you your responses were recorded a little bit thank you for reporting this incident administrator will investigate investigate this claim and take appropriate action I think it's a little more targeted to what we're looking at here I just think it'd be a good thing to to include there and say that before I do that, look up here too if we want to we can go ahead and schedule this to go on to post this form I if it we want to open it on a specific day and close on a specific date we can do that but I want to leave this one eye open for now find saved awesome so now that we provided a space for your community to report any bullying they might see around campus what can we do next let's let's think about this you know I think we should focus on resources you're both preventive and reactive so what actually happened over to our page management here now I build out a little bullying Hub that we can take a look at go up here to our page manager you get there by going to Hamburger drop that menu page management and pages are you going to build yours out if you're going to do a hub I think would be a great idea you building out wherever you like and everybody's I'm category organization is different so you know just cuz I have it set up this way doesn't mean you haven't you need to have it set up this way you know everything is different so you have your setup that's totally and it works for you that's great that we have our educational support fly down here to stop pulling a TCP I've already build this out so we'll get a click here and we'll see what this looks like on the public site then what kind of work backwards here will take a look at the admin site and I'm some ways I felt some of this and the first thing you'll see here as I built I made this graphic here using canva I need a hero image here I'll show you how how we do that in the back end here adding the image was made in Canada come down here now I just have a little are a little better graphic here pointing it wants of the links will take a look at the links feature here in a second which include included some great resources offer both parents and students here I think that is a great yeah do Cuda resources beyond for everybody. So we'll take a look at the links feature here in just a second but let's roll on down here include a little story about a specific school that's what are a specific class in our school that took on a National Bowling Challenge we come down here I posted a PDF of that challenge here is a great way for students a kind of attitude and kind of engage with it in a way where they hadn't before you a chance from the process it think about it and kind of go through these questions here you know it's something that they might not even like think about it like when you see bullying how does it make you feel why is it important to speak up to stop bullying I think this is great A great resource I got this from a national bullying prevention center it's a great PDF I'm definitely recommend checking them out they have so many amazingly sources there if you want to take a look at any of this will come back up here I want you to look at this links section now to using the links future here include some Winks some short descriptions here a family can go to all about bullying so let's get into how we actually built this content out so back here in the admin say under page management to look at that that landing page we started with their why I had the traffic up at the top alright this image to normally when you create a page like this it doesn't default to having this hero image layout see up here we have our different layouts Easter at the bottom here we have this horizontal bar at the top here that indicates the hero image Lee as we have that that big sprawling image at the top here and then of these up here do not have the hero images just the content Melanie is here have the section menus on the left and right the middle ones do not include the section menu and I'll get in the section menu is populated will come over here back to that page this is the section menu over here now if these are blue this is populated by all the pages that live within this section here so if I add another page here it's automatically going to be added to the section menu over here not so hot back into the page all right you know I got the skiro image here okay but let's say real quick that I didn't have that immature yet you know it we see it here now I just deleted it so if we want to go add that image here again I have this selected here so we have that hero image the ability to add that I go here to add will go to photos when I upload it from my computer all right I'm going to open that all right person we want to do is adults hackzall text is crucial because it gives screen readers on a deal with this images screen reader I'm going to scan the page for this lets them know what image they are looking at here all right grapes pick up here to this little gear icon we can choose whether or not we want you so right now we can add multiple photos and we'll rotate through we could also have a stacked image here over here we have either a full full with image so take up the full width of the page here if we do constrained it'll go ahead and bring that image in until a little extra kind of cop the corners here it'll contends that image within the lines of the pager I always prefer that full with I just think it's such a bold Dynamic lock ice I love doing the above the fold really draws in the eye of the viewer there so do that full full with their will save that make sure we publish I said that really is other big suggestion here use our page module to create one Central hub for all of your anti-bullying resources should be a positive inviting place for people that want to come in and get information about this very serious subject as far as I can hear the content and again I told you I I got this information here from the national bullying prevention center you know but as far as the content and everything and I will do that to you there are a lot of schools of thoughts about this topic we want to show you how to do bring all that information together here as a One-Stop Hub all right and come back over here all right to that section where these pages are living that links feature so I went ahead and made that when suits are going up here to New and what am I to do actually in a little bit to be creating a Staffing Resources in from scratch so I'll show you how we can build out a little link section from scratch here right now what I'm showing you how how this works so I new page break down here you can click any of these features that we have forms videos photo album calendar links things like that so go ahead and add that form that we built before someone to click form all right and we have every single form that we've made here all right so click down here to ECP fully reporting awesome will open that in a new tab I'll save that fantastic what's refresh that look at that I click right here brings us right to the form we just created pretty cool and that way it really is a One-Stop shop right now I'll cook you on that links feature again will come back over here will click into links and this is where we can add some are Lynx up here just by clicking a link again we'll go in just a little more in-depth in a second just wanted to show you know the really are big suggestion here creating a One-Stop Hub to address bullying just one place where your school you can come to and get any information out there looking for now I'm so next up we built out to this Hub and I've also amazing information here people can get involved what they can do to stop bullying and really think about it how are we going to get viewer to how we let people know that this Hub exist how are we going to get you no visitors and new to the site here one of the biggest pieces of real estate I really don't see utilized enough is your homepage Shuffle not every edlio site a has a homepage Shuffle but a lot of them do and that can be key to bring traffic to wherever you want to direct your audience to remember our homepage Shuffle feature be linked to any page so if you create a really striking graphic to accompany this people will click on it and you can bring more viewers to this page let's take a look at how to do that alright now here we are on the rylo High School home page you see here we have one of our signature homepage Shuffle and I really love this feature again a great way to still bring viewers in Springer I to whatever does he want to look at whatever you want them to look at here what's going on we can add an image here to draw a few hours that anti-bullying Hub that we just discussed to get to that homepage Shuffle go over here to the hamburger drop-down menu will go to media and then Shuffles I'll go to homepage Maine click this upload media button here click upload like before I made this image of about to upload I made it here with canva really striking Graphics here before uploading that now PNG file click on that put it right there click here to check out our anti-bullying Hub what we want them to look at so in order to link that would click here to this link button Centrelink address all right awesome make sure we add that all text all right now let's save that okay now let's go over here and refresh this page there we go click here to check out our anti-bullying Hub like that there we go bring some right to that page that we just looked at together again just a great way to you know bring more eyes to this you know the information that you're trying to share with the world and the last thing I want to look at it here but come back on what's the admin safer edlio College Prep we are going to be looking at how to build a password protected area so you can provide resources for your staff of the reason why we're going to be putting it behind a password protected area is this a restricted you know if there's any any reason you can't use it for anything you want to restrict access to behind a password protected area over here to our page management pages I get I have this one saved under miscellaneous in the harbor you have your setup that work for you that is totally cool or I'll come down here to our staff only section know in order to put something behind a password protected area we first have to build out the content and we already have the section here that we and for that I staff only I told you before I was going to show you a little more in-depth how we use this links feature so will come over here to Links if you don't have this already you haven't already know starting from scratch are you going to put a new page again just click features on here that you want to use this case we're using Linksys click links there I automatically added to your section menu clicking the links out. We do have one link here in this staff only but we'll see if we have section and topics the section this refers to the page management that right so the category we clicked into his miscellaneous the other section that we clicked on was staff only within staff only with a we're almost paid as we're just looking and that's where these links live so within that we have different topics right if I click on a different with a I go on this fine arts section here we have a main topics we click on different difference here that you can have multiple topics within a section will come back here tour stop bullying Oaks I will come back here to our staff only a lynx Section 8 new topic specifically about Foley go to manage topics add topic here we'll come back over here under the topics we'll see we have is anti-bullying resources and I can add some new so glad to hear and click add link alright then you can add a little description if we want I'm pulling these from stopbullying.gov great resource with a ton of great articles and a programs packages things like that to look at so do they recommend checking that out link and we'll see what this looks like together after all right so I added links here under the section of Staff only we made a new topic for anti-bullying resources I specifically for Staffing we've added a couple of options here now let's go back set section staff only and Paige management so we'll go up here to page management pages miscellaneous staff only I'll take a look at this public linkage this is going to be the staff only resources here come over here what does links all right and then week this where we can pick the different topics that we want right now this is the main link topics but these anti-bullying resources one default top we have the links you click into and there you go with a little description at the bottom here okay with the reason we really want to do this right was to put it behind a password protected area again the thought he where is the have this little area just for staff and you can really use this for anything in the case workers were creating a little kind of a staff internet little staffhub within their we have links for anti-bullying resources in for them to use let's go ahead back the admin site all right and we have almost constant feeling that we want to add this section behind a password protected area cuz right now anybody visiting the site would be able to access that information I just post it so we go here to the hamburger drop-down menu go to page management and a password protected areas all right now the first thing we want to do is make a new area all right let the name it we'll call it staff resources okay awesome so now we need to go ahead and add what we're going to add the pages or features that we want to protect that in this case were going to add that entire section we just saw going to go here so you can either enter the URL of the page that you want text or we can come down here it's just like with your page Management's or picking that miscellaneous category when I come down here this staff only section I'm taking this off when I click that we go down here all the pages are automatically checked off if I just click one here but I want to put this entire section behind that password protected area so it's add selected awesome will save fantastic next we want to determine who is going to have access to this password protected area who has access now we can search for users to act the only people we can add to password protected area is anybody who is in your user management so you know if you have any staff that might not be in there yet now is the time to do so I'm so in this case you know I'm just going to add a few users here all right awesome will go ahead and add them so right now these are the only three people that would be able to go ahead and access this I want to save that awesome so now I'm going to come back up here set staff only section already see when I went ahead refresh that page now is asking for username and password to enter it again it password protected area a great way to put any no resources that you want to restrict to certain users of your site's what is a great way to do that or I think that is going to be it for us today I want to thank you all for joining us for this webinar if you ever have any questions please reach out to your ideal client success specialist you're not sure who that is please reach out to client success at Ed Leo.
