Alrighty, everybody! Let's get started. We have a ton to get to today. Now, you know it feels like summer just started and here we are already thinking about getting your homepage ready for the first day of school. Now in today's webinar we are going to be taking a look at some tips, tricks, best practices, things like that for getting your site in tip-top shape for the first day of school. Now, some of the things we are going to be looking at today adding new staff or any of your new hires adding terms and classes, calendars and our calendar integration, how you can collect school fees with forms, and we're going to take all of that we are going to create a central back-to-school hub using your Page Management and the sections within there and then we are going to announce that back to school hub using all of our homepage resources. So yeah, just looking at a few different ways we can use your site for back to school. We have a lot to get to today so let's jump into it. Now here I am in Edlio College Prep logged into the admin site here I am a super admin that is important to note for the first thing we're going to be doing which is adding new staff members. We're going to add them to our user management here. When we do that they're going to be able to show up in our staff directory on the site and then if we want them to go be able to login if they want to access teacher pages things like that we can get that set up for them but in order to do that let's go up here to the hamburger drop-down menu site management and user management now when I said before that it is important that I am a super admin that is important if I want to go ahead and add any web admin privileges to any of these accounts. Remember there are three levels of users there's a super adminn there's a web admin and there's a regular user right. So the Super Admin and Web Admin are pretty much the same thing. They have the same level of access to the site the only difference being the super admin is able to add or remove any sort of web admin privileges to an account that is the only difference other than that out if your logged in as a web admin you have all the other same privileges as a super admin. Alright, now we are here in User Management, now at the end of the school year this past year I went ahead and removed any teachers that I needed to but now we want to go ahead and add our new hires our new staff members here now how do we do that? We're going to go up here to the top right, add new user, we can add their information here. Alright, down here user type and check off whether they're a teacher a school admin or other employee since I am logged in as a web admin of this is where I can add those website admin privileges in this case this new hire Bodhi Benson is going to be a website admin for the specific school site so go ahead and leave that check there and you'll see we had this multi-site management box you can check that off. You're only going to use that if you are an admin who is admining several different school sites on the same account so if you're managing  the district site and some of the school sites for a certain district that is when you can hit multi-site management there and you'd be able to link all of your accounts between all the individual school admin sites. Let's go ahead here we have added website admin privileges here now if we weren't going to could be granting a website admin privileges here these are all the different sections and areas where we could grant individual access to certain sections features things like that here if we wanted to do that instead of giving them full website admin privileges that is where we can check those off individually I will come down here alright we can add them to any any password protected areas and down here, if we wanted to update their account status or disabling them or forcing password reset, things like that I've already saved we want to add this new account here alright awesome now we've got them here as a new user they're going to show up in our user management and they'll be able to log in with their email address Let's go over here and add a profile picture Alright now we have our new teacher here added to user management one of the first things you want to do is make sure we have all new staff members added so they're showing up in our staff directory Alright, now next up, I want to take a look at our classes and assignments feature as well as our terms, alright. Now let's come come up here to the hamburger drop-down menu we'll come down here to classes then classes and assignments. Alright, now if I'm a teacher and I'm walking and this is what I see there is no active term set up for your school please contact your website administrator to create a term. now in order for teachers to be able to add their classes here you as a web admin first have to add a term so we come over here to the hamburger drop that menu classes and terms or come right here we have no active term looks like our last term just ended yesterday so we have to create a new term so teachers can go in and add classes. Alright, now teachers are going to be able to add a Google Classroom as long as you have Google Classroom integration turned on they can go ahead and integrate their Google classes with their classes and terms assignments here and link those to the teacher pages at did great great feature but again in order to do that we have to get that this term set up so let's go ahead and fall I can't believe it's Fall 2022 all right now right here starts on we don't want it listed as the actual first day of school we want to set this out well in advance so teachers can log in add their classes and everything in advance of the first day of school so you know what I mean let's say a school starts in about a month month-and-a-half I want to give them time to set this up I'm just going to set the terms are on today here and then this is where we can go ahead and add whenever the last day of the term is let's just say right there okay I will go ahead and save alright now we have our fall 2022 term set up now if I come over here again to classes and assignments this is where I can go in and add a class here again you can see we have that Google Classroom integration turned on if you want to know how to turn that on I'll show you right now you go up here to the hamburger dropdown menu, site management settings and from here we'll go to classroom and right here enable Google classroom integration do you want to go ahead and check yes on that and then teachers will be able to go ahead and integrate their Google classrooms pretty cool alright so we got that term set up now so teachers can come in and add those classes if they want next up let's go ahead and look at our forms feature alright? We're going to come up here to the hamburger drop-down menu, Forms. Alright, up here you can see these payment reports that is because this account that we are on right now has forms with payments with OSP if you don't have that you're curious about it it's a completely free add-on feature talk to your client success specialist about it today they can get you set up with online school payments so you're able to go ahead collect payments via the forms feature in your admin site. Alright, so that's what we're going to do right now. We're going to set up a form right now to go ahead and collect payments let's see let's do can you add an collect payments for school photos We'll go here to new form Alright, now we can either go off of a blank form here create one from scratch we can search on if there's one that we know what the name of that we used before we go in search that he I want to go through these templates here, see anyone here marked with payment they are ready to start accepting payments via OSP. I believe we have one for school photos right here. Alright, so school photo orde form let's go and we'll go ahead and customize this. all right now we have this ready to go let's look this over we have to do an information parent Guardian information address to send the photos and which photo package they want to purchase let him save that all right here we are this is what it looks like on the live site. Alright, so what I want to do now is go ahead and add a new bell schedule specifically for the first day of school then we'll take a look at our calendars and then we will go ahead and build out a big back to school hub within our page management so let's go ahead and do that bell schedule first we'll go to plan > bell schedules and alright in this room to go ahead and add a bell schedule this one is specifically going to be for the first day of school to the first day of school is like a half day or something Alright, we'll go in and add our numbers whatever you want to do they're going to have the names here start and end time Alright now we have that first day of school schedule here ready to go alright awesome now we are going to can I go ahead and check on our calendars make sure all of that is up-to-date we'll go here to the hamburger drop-down menu site management and settings we'll go over here to calendars all right now the counter that we select here by number these are all different calendars here if you have any corresponding what we see down here so I want to go ahead and I have a Google Calendar that I want to integrate with this calendar here I'm going to go ahead here and connect the Google Calendar you can also do an Office 365 calendar or if you just want to update this calendar manually within the Edlio CMS you can do that by going up here to Hamburger drop-down menu plan calendars You can go in here and manually add an event if you like and go back to our settings he will go up here to settings alright but I want to go ahead and integrate that calendar here I can do that to you about pressing connect Google or Office 365 calendar I want this right here the ECP 22 23 calendar I'll go ahead and connect that now we went ahead and we added a new staff member we set up those terms for teachers we added a integrated this calendar here and we set up that form to collect fees for school photo day now let's go ahead and make a back-to-school Hub right an information resource for our school community members to come in to and find information out you know whether it's the first day schedule that photo order or the back-to-school week schedule you know some days things like that let's make just one Central Hub where parents can come and gather all this information here let's go here to our hamburger drop-down menu, Page Management, and then Pages. Alright, now when in right now winning Pages we have Categories, Sections and Pages alright now we have to choose which category we want to put this back to school section in alright so we're going to do this in miscellaneous you know how we have yours set up, that's completely up to you in this case most miscellaneous just seems like it makes the most sense now I already went ahead and built a part of this out right and I'll show you that in a second here if you're if you're starting from scratch here go up here to New section and just give your this will help section whatever name you want here. I went ahead and named ours ECP Back to School Hub. Alright, now you'll see here we are now we have a school map and are back to school week schedule so what I can do right now is go to the public link we can see what we already have built out here alright and you'll see here are we have this school map for anybody getting lost and over here we have just a little back to school week schedule something simple you know Silly here on the way have now let's go ahead and add what the what sad the bell schedule okay now on the way to bell schedule works is that it essentially creates one page for all of your schedules all right so if you're going to publishing that anywhere make sure that you're okay with having each individual bell schedule there all on the same page. Now let's come back over here Add a New Page and link to another page here Back to school bell schedule we'll paste the link to our Bell schedules-- pro-tip here at your bell schedules can be found here by by going to your school URL and then adding /apps /bell_schedules/ /apps /bell_schedules/ and there we go so we've got that ready to go and let's also add that form that we made for school photos to come down here and this is a feature page we'll go to this form and right here the first one here 2022 2023 school photo order form Alright and we'll save this right now we have four pages here within our section so we come back over here and reload this you can see all of the pages added here are now showing up in our section menu pretty cool one more page here I'm what's introducing the new staff of the school okay I will go ahead we'll add a photo of them and we'll add a little biography of them as well I'll add some content here Now let's go ahead and preview what this going to look like alright cool now we have this little back-to-school hub here but now we want to get the news of this back-to-school hub out to our school community so let's look at a couple ways that we can do that and let's go ahead here I'll first thing we will do is use-- we'll announce it it via our news and alerts announce news and alerts here alright we'll add some news Alright add our headline and we'll will link to a page with a link to this section here paste that URL we can also go ahead if you want to add more content here with you that we link to a file or a PDF for photo we want to add here we could we're going to go ahead and link to this page will check out the homepage here of Edlio College Prep in a second as you'll see a click read more and it'll bring us to that that back-to-school how that we created together all right so we can schedule the story to go out later if we want we can also go out now we we'll go ahead and save Alright now here we are on Edlio College Prep now to come down here to our news back to school is Monday August 29th are we going with click in on that story and it brings us right to that Hub that we made good use of the new section there to bring more eyes to this section now let's bring even more eyes there we go here after you publish this news we give you all these other options that you are other ways you can go ahead and announce this news. Let's go ahead and utilize the homepage alerts there now what this does does is when somebody comes and visit your page they'll get a pop-up alert directing them to go to this this news item they can choose it to click out if they want they don't have to go to it, but it would just get more eyes on it they at least have to go and somewhere where they they want to look into it or if they don't so let's go ahead. It auto-defaults here for 24 hours out let's go ahead and this is going to be the top story here for a while I'm sure so we'll go ahead create that alert alright so now if we go ahead here back to the homepage you'll see here we have this homepage pop-up alert here and we read full story. It brings us to that hub pretty cool alright you can also go ahead and push that out via your social media manager let's he have Facebook or Twitter connected to your at the site. That's a great way to do it. Broadcasts, if you want to go ahead you can text voice calls emails to to your school community letting them know about this new information hub and your first day of school push notifications whether you're using the Edlio School News App who's app or if you have your own branded mobile app if you have questions about that reach out your client success specialist you can go ahead and put a push notification for it and also you can send out a newsletter via our free newsletters feature. There's a lot of ways you can get this out there about this back-to-school hub I think you should just have some sort of central on knowledge base there for anybody that is coming back to school it is very helpful thing to have. Alright, so let's go ahead and just recap what we've done today so we went ahead and added a new staff member to our user management gave them the appropriate permissions we also went ahead and actually built out an intro page with that person write we we added their the phone a little bio about them are we also went ahead and set up a term so our teachers could go ahead and add classes at or integrate their Google classrooms if they wanted to we also went ahead and looked at calendars we looked at setting up a bell schedule for the first day of school we also went ahead and built out that Central Hub of information using our page management when we built the section and we built out some pages within their just as one little hub there for anybody coming to visit your site for more information about the first day of school.
