Looking to utilize all of the Teacher Tools and Pages that come with your Edlio site? We’ll take a look at some tricks for creating stunning Pages, best practices for sharing content, and everything else you need to know to use your Pages to communicate with parents and students.

already all your teachers out there let's get started I know this school year is right around the corner so whether that means fighting off those looming so-called Sunday scaries of the new school year or no diving in headfirst to everything your new school has offer edlio is here to help our driving force our mission statement here is to make the lives of Educators easier through approachable and Powerful technology now today we are going to be diving into everything you should be doing today I will utilize all your teachers like personal pages and all of the other tools that come standard with your atleo site-specific Lee we're going to be looking at teacher pages awesome best practices for sharing content are Google class immigrations and so much more so let's get started now when you login as a teacher this is what you should be seeing no depending on your permissions you know what your webadmin at your school has granted you as far as permissions go you might see some more feet modules here in this case this is the account of a brand new teacher no additional permissions here I just straight-up a teacher with a regular permission another beauty of this is that you're going to be able to create your own little world here for your student the other Guardians out you know whoever in your school community that is going to be coming to your teacher pages I doubt you're going to hear me say a lot today the idea here though is that it is your personal to go ahead and communicate with your school Community now you're allowing me for the first time I think the very first thing you should do is go up here to account and profile know what we want to do here is first off see here are username or position I things like that in this case out we're going to be updating the profile of both events in here he is a surf teacher at Elia College Prep you let's just say Bayside High situation Saved by the Bell where there is actually a surf teacher in the school that would be cool you know it doesn't seem very likely but in this case that is who we're going to be working with today so the first thing we want to do is go ahead and add a profile picture this profile picture is going to be visible in your staff directory I know if we go over here put that pencil icon select photo where we have that photo stored are you coming here and you crop that photo will crop and Save all right now up here if we go to edit your profile you can come in here this week and add some additional information if you want you know middle name is other box that here a lot of teachers will add in their credentials or the album things like that that that is a good spot to do that additional information if you want to add phone number and address anything like that I'd that is where you can add that will click save you can also enable two-factor authentication here we are all about a top-tier security for your account two-factor authentication is a great way to make sure you're no one can login you know your account and do anything you would want them to do you know who is always recommend enabling two-factor authentication if you can I know when to pick up here to go back to the admin site the homepage here are they can see the different a features we have here you can click straight here from how many page all of these are also available here in the hamburger drop-down menu so you two have broken up by plan announced page management which is where we're going to be spending the most of our time today supply list media if you want to add any photo albums videos things like that classes will be spending some time in there as well and post post it's a great way to is essentially feature right if you know you want to add daily Runner of things that your thoughts things for your glasses things like that it's a great space to do that but again we're going to spending the majority of our time here in page management today I have to go to page management and Pages now you will see this is completely blank here because we have not added any Pages yet is public link right now there's nothing right we just have our landing page here we have that profile pic so you was telling me about. Just hear what what's going to look like for parents visitors to the site and things like that for them to find your teacher pages once we start adding them here in the admin site so here right now we are on the homepage of edlio college prep so I'm going to go ahead and find our staff directory yours might be a different place every schools is different from here you go to receipt we have all of our teachers or staff members here early click right here on boat events in that is how parents will find these pages right over here underneath subscribe and that is a girl that is something once everything filled out I'm going to encourage you to encourage your school Community to subscribe to your pages that way anytime you make an update you know something important that you really would need them to know they will get a notification about that I'm at the end of the day so it's play anytime you make no updates they'll get a notification email with any changes that you made any updates anything that you think they should know know there that subscribe button right there prompt them to enter first name last name and email address as well as theirs name now this is also good because you will you get this kind of information will also be able to send out newsletters with this information they collect with his email address so you want to send out a big newsletter hey like what's going on and classroom this is a great way to collect the emails of parents to go ahead and get that I'm also aware that is in a second also apparently go ahead and send you an e-mail here before my email and you'll go ahead and get that at the email address you have a say it with your account I've been on top over and start building out of pager so after we have something here when parents come to visit our someone click out of this okay now go ahead and add a page up here to see what happens when we do that so you with a few different options here first one blank page that is what we are going to be doing here in a second we are going to build out a landing page here and about me page for you for the teacher for this case buddy Benson but you could also a link to another page also houses for sale already built up you can link to that page here I was any sort of external resources that you want to provide to your school community and you want them to be a part of your pages here you go ahead and link to another page and here we have our feature pages you can go ahead and also access from the things that you know you can add yourself you know video gallery photo albums if you want to add a calendar you can do that to you add events for you or your classes and a lynx Lynx a great feature if you want to add a specific sources have them all together in one place for your school Community great place to do that but like I said I'm starting here with blank page okay another first thing we want to do is give h a r p you're a title now this is going to be our landing page for people to come and learn about us about me page all right now up here top right we have lay out all right now you can see here with a few different options now this send bar on the I hear that is your section menu okay so any pages that you add I'm to your page management are going to show up here so I'll show you what that's going to look like in a little bit but let's say we add this about me page me a different class pages it's going to list all of those I'm Paige is right here put this one in the middle that that is not going to include any of those pages within the section that is just going to stand alone page I no links to any other Pages here or this one put on the right I want to focus on these on the bottom here because these included hero image which I really like I think it's a great way if it really visually in a striking an engaging way to bring your community into your page is a a big gigantic Banner hero image of the top of your page I always loved doing that I want to go ahead select that now the first thing we want to do is add that Banner image no I've already created some pain or some other images in canva Campbell great resource if you want create a mural striking images hear it's really kind of you know really beautify your page is early kind of make a standout always recommend using canva if you've ever seen any of my webinars here before I feel like every other webinar I'm like singing the Praises of canva itself do you think you can make a really great graphics here at the four this year I meant you had the photo here there's other things you can add up here at the section many nothing else we met long the side view with all the other pages in a second you can add it along the tops are you good at individual buttons and our links sure if you like we're going to go in at a photo here Hardman upload all right is the baroness is welcome mr. Benson's class do you want to add texture the importance of all text is for anybody using a screen reader off for them to be able to know what this image is that their visually impaired anything like that just lets the screen reader know what this image is are you want to try to be as descriptive as possible I'm helping out too too long I've all going to save that okay up here we can go ahead and see how we want this image to look like so if we want to have you know like a road getting answers of images here if you want some images stacked on top of each other in this case I'm going to keep it here I'm only have the one image but you can keep the constrained or full with I always love the full with again I just think it looks better on save that there we go I have the banner for Bowie's pager mr. Benson's page all right now get down here we want to continue adding some more a content to this page and one of the first things I want to do here is a encourage people to subscribe to my pay that way they can go and get updates whenever you do I add anything to it so I made a banner encouraging people to do that so click here ad photos upload another photo here and I'm going to publish this not want to show you here I will we can actually do to go in and I'm preview the page we have how far here to actions public View all right do you see I have my full with banner up top here and then down here again I told you we had that subscribe button so I have this image here to encourage people to subscribe to my page or I come together pretty nicely so far I will come down here now getting my page I made one more Banner here I made a few different images your apologies for all these photos will be some texture you know in a second and kind of see what that looks like and go ahead Adderall text for that will publish that all right now it's are adding some other content besides images see here we're adding a page block here at the bottom and we can add content photos files a files PDFs you know if you want to add like maybe classroom expectations things like that supply list great way to add that in a PDF form here we have an actual supply list feature now I'm this works with teacher list so if you have a supply list added to teacher lists are witches in a separate website if your school has an account there and added a supply list there that can be added to your page here it's a great way to a supply list where people can come in easily add items to their car from Amazon Staples a few other vendors with a click of a few buttons they can have all the stuff I was sad that you need for the front classroom for this year they going to add them to their card so I set them up for Success a very easily we can have different buttons here and we can also add links right now works at some contents little again a little about C-section they see here we have our text editor at the top a pretty standard text editor you know if you used one before I should get the hang of this pretty easily when we go in and add my little bio here copy and paste I'm just a little generic little about me there will publish that us to take a look and see what we got a public View All rights come down here to come together a little bit I like it I like let's go ahead let's add a file here out of the classroom expectations while we see what that looks like all right will click add files when upload okay no we have this PDF ready to go so by Publishers right now as is that so you can see if we come over here refresh the right now it's just going to give me a link here to open up pdf up separately with one way to do it so go in here these three dots we can rename it if we want we also go over our display options right now we have the file name it. Going to Auto default to that but if we want that PDF to actually show up on the page here how is click this button here you know the family size that you want them to go for the biggest one here and we'll publish that now we have our classroom expectations ready to go publish right here on our teacher page pretty cool. OK Google on this page here just going to add a little more Flair to it okay to come over here will add stuff you want embed a video from Auntie like YouTube video if you have an embed code you going to do that using content feature here okay and a video to your video gallery here if you want to do that if you're coming from YouTube is a really easy way to go ahead in bed that can turn on a page so I'm going to add this content block here right here to the source code button right here like that and that paste my source code from YouTube will publish that come back over here all right let's go over here let's add some more actually let's add some more info here to the section many okay Mountain blocks things here that will appear alongside here in the section menu OK Google content block on speed mr. Benson schedule I swear schedule for mr. Benson Okay cool so we have that long the side they're all right now the next thing I want to do here is go in and add a class here to mr. Benson's profile Google Classroom I know a lot of lot of you out there I use Google, it's a super powerful tool so if you have the ability to go ahead and use it I'm I recommend doing it when you go to classes that you can do two things if you don't use Google Classroom you can manually go in and out of class we can go in at assignments things like that it's very powerful a great great tool to do that but in this case the integrating here from our Google classroom add class if you're going to be manually adding a class going to click new and Leo class but if you want to go ahead and import from your Google Classroom which I do recommend doing I'll go and click that and how to walk you through all the steps you're up to now, go ahead and do that right now aren't we see we have all of our classes available here we go ahead and select the one that I want to go ahead and it right now all right what which the rent you want this to be in now that is all determined at the webadmin level the Glen said all of that up if you don't see the department that you want for your class go ahead and reach at your web and then get that at it for you go ahead here in Connect and add classes okay awesome cool so we see here now we have our class are serving 101 class right here we see we have an assignment due and I click on that so I added assignment in Google Classroom right now it is available here let's go and see are you there yeah read chapter 1 of intro to surfing guy that if you want to go ahead you can add a class here if you want to edit this existing I'm item you can click that go ahead and edit in Google but you can also from your Elias I hear add a new assignment that will automatically sync with your Google class all right so let's just say I won't need all right there we go okay so I'm going to get whatever else you want there you can if you want to add any files in a PDF things like that you can go in and attach them here but we'll go ahead only add that dude 8 here so we'll see we will have an attitude 8 there all right we save that all right and we can see that it has been added here again making it very easy to manage your Google Classroom from your at the admin site okay now that we've added that Google class what I'm going to do is I'm going to go into page management and make a sub page here for this surfing 101 class jump ahead here because I'm rude is going to be following all of the steps that I made when I made that about me page it just include some directions on you know how to enter the class code for the Google Classroom things like that I'm going to jump ahead here in a second you'll see the page once it's completed all right so this is that surfing 101 Patriots you have the instructions here by the click the link below and add that class code to be able to access this a classic over here now that we have a second page added to our page management here so we have two pages now you'll see here it is populated on the left here for both pages going over how to build out your about me page integrated Google Classroom here let's go in now let me show you how you can build out a newsletter to send to your school Community really want to encourage parents here to click the subscribe button here because when they do when they fill out this information was hot back over here to the admin site come over here they are automatically going to be added here to a contact list so right now we don't have anybody here right we see 00 still here we're sad to see had a test here okay will subscribe all right all since I have been subscribed to mr. boddy Benson's pager refresh his contact list boom right there my personal page I have a contact here so I just signed up there and I'll show you what we can do with this contact information are again is eventually hopefully you can get multiple people subscribe here so you can send out a newsletter all right up here to new newsletter now we have a few different templates here that you can from all right now I really like these to hear your events and news and your news these allow you to pick from news added by the school so if you want to include some your upcoming upcoming information some events from the school that's where you can add that as well as news items I want to click that continue hi this is where you click these boxes here is where you go ahead and edit corresponding information so this case have here we have the council to add some events here so this is pulling from the college prep calendar if you added events to your own personal calendar you go ahead and include those as well but in this case when are we adding some events here and then we'll come here to our news will click add news all right and we just want to go ahead here and add these new song awesome okay this is where you can go in and add your personalized content yourself you know whatever it is that you want to add again come up here, play around with it if you like you know whatever if you want to play with me colors again standard text editor however you want that set up okay now we go up here and we can preview what it will look like are at your your profile picture your name up here at the top we come down here we can see what it will look like pretty cool I will going to return to the message here all right will continue now here is where we can go ahead and add necklace that we have all right so I'm going to add the one that we have here already offer my personal page again this is only going out to one contact but again as you know you heard parents to sign up there you send them out to multiple parents there I'm so will do a subject here are you can send now or you can schedule to send later if you like we're going to send this out now Mario ice send out my first newsletter as a teacher here as a parent that have subscribe a personal page there to get these newsletter sent out if whatever reason you know people aren't able you can always go in and manually add contacts as well. Do you want to send out a new letter specifically to this case your surfing 101 class you can come in here you can manually add silicon text you want you can also add in bulk I was going to give you our CSV template to go ahead and including out fieldspring on first name last name email things like that you get every added in both of you having information already available to an want to get them added easily this is the best way to do that in bulk all right now let's review some of the things that we've done today we filled out a beautiful about me page here you know we have our our class page on the side that we also created I do want to back up here to the about me page I forgot to point out before is when you build this page out and Winnie's are adding classes whether manually or from your Google Classroom integration we scored the bottom here look at that we have our class ready to go so that way students parents who ever want to come in they want to access these classes they can do so right here then go over here and open the Google Classroom immediately from this page but again just one more thing added to your personal / 2 Paige is here pretty useful who want to have we built those are we integrated that classroom and we build out a newsletter here in the admin site now this is a great place to start as a school year goes on you want to keep adding to Europe do you want to send out newsletters every month if you can but you know it's a really kind of get you fully aware and fully acclimated to the Elias EMS come over here to The Help Center we have a ton useful article webinars things like that you know you're watching this you've been to the help center before you know where it is over here we have a ton of former webinar that we've done here if you have questions you know we've done a webinar about it in the past also I have our help articles up here tons and tons and tons of useful information iPad 2 days thank you so much for joining us a best of luck to you in this new school year are we really look forward to working with you alright take care
