Alright good afternoon everyone my name is Taylor I'll be your trainer today on this intro to Pages webinar thank you for joining a few quick things and please feel free as we go through our time together today quick half-hour drop any questions Curiosities that you have in the qna and we'll make sure to answer those either eating the qna my colleague Jenny will be sure to help you or I'm at the end we can have some time to answer some questions live Etc you also notice that this recording is this training is being recalled then you'll see this go up on the help center where you can also find all our upcoming webinar to look out for that so with that let's get into all right so today we are going to go over everything category page management we're going to learn how to create Pages how to add all sorts of different content on lyrics organize our pages and our Pages within our sections in Howard dashboard now if you're a teacher or an admin everyone is going to learn something today here because we are going to be 3 Pages exact same way no matter what kind of CNS user you are so we'll get it to that in just a moment let me go ahead and share some example I love different pages so if you're joining as a teacher today and you'll be able to create some really engaging excuse me some really engaging Pages like this using all those tastes like elements that we're going to get into in just a moment here's another teacher page we can tell it's a teacher page because we see the teachers info right up in there and if you're webadmin you're going to learn how to add all of the pages in your in your cmx here connected directly to your site in both cases as I mentioned we're going to come here into are dashboard so hopefully your dashboard looks familiar to you we're going to open our hamburger menu right here and go into page management we can find her pages of course in pages so we're going to open here and I'm again if you're a teacher you'll probably you'll be coming over here and do personal pages to create your teacher pages you can see that I can see my user my link to my teacher page and then within my your page I can build any section, and have lots of different sub Pages if you will where I add all different types of information and resources that's going to be the same way that we create a page as we're going to learn today in category Pages category Pages you're going to have access to if you're an admin here in your desk bored if you've had a training before you talk to Folks at at Leo you've probably heard the metaphor that you're trying to pages are like a your filing cabinet holding all the pages that are attached to your cms' that she then you can sit you ate you know on your site navigation menu all the places that you want to make that these Pages available for your school Community here looking at course at the back end so you know filing cabinet we have drawers which are our categories so we have our six categories and if we go ahead and open number George we're going to have our sections which are like our filing folder we can have infinite and then each of our filing folders or affections we can have pages and again we can have infinite number of pages if you open a basketball I can see I have a few different pages and a draft I can always know that this this symbol here means that the page is unpublished maybe it's a draft is indicated by this button or it's simply unpublished I can organize pages in existing sections always using this Domino going to let me move things around throughout the CNS and three dots is always let me edit seven pages it's going to let me on Bishop page I made you don't want live anymore or publisher page that I'm ready to go live I can also move pages around if I want to move to a different section or a different category so you can organize your filing cabinet but don't worry your filing cabinet is really just seen by you all at down back here in the dashboards you can organize this however it makes sense to you now we're going to get started today treating a page and let's create a new section and situate a page in that section so we can see what that looks like so I want to create a new section instead of having that swam draft be in my basket section I want to create a swim section in my Athletics category now I can come here I can see we have no pages in our section yet of course I'm going to go ahead and add a new page different versions of pages to ask where can I add a blank page together today to another page maybe I want to link a resource from the national cemetery Association I can go ahead and drop title so what I want my PhD called and where I wanted to take folks always remember that is this case I'm taking close to the National Association website in new tab so that when they click on this link an honest link to open that page they don't lose your website they're taking to the new tab to go to that external site going to pay to get in I can also add a feature page so if I have a form that I've created for a swimming training sign up or in free I can just link that as a page in the section right here I can link up video gallery that I have maybe I've had some videos or photo album where I put pictures and videos of our awesome swim team and I want it linked in the section if I need a calendar specifically for this section of my skin calendar I could leave that here and we also have a really awesome Banks feature that you can create at groupings of different lengths so I could create a link topic threw up all my resources for my swimmers and then go ahead and add that as its own page in sections then there's going to be a bunch of links all those handy resources are readily available which is one click on my end if you have any questions on these features that we're going to be going into today if you can always come to our help center started Our Help Center there at 1 coming in so with that let's go ahead and they are blank page now it's the first thing that I want to decide is my layout so I can come here and I can see that my layout in this case is oriented for a two-column with my side column on the left side this is where my section menu is always going to populate we're going to need to add of course multiple pages in the section for the section menu check options you can always cover indah meet your section menu if you don't want it on your page or we can move it up I'm going to show you that in just a moment but I would recommend keeping your section many on the page so that your parents your school Community can easily search through all the related pages in section without having you just having you have to situate all those links separately in your side navigation menu for example so here are different layouts these layouts done here you'll notice this item across the top this is a hero image we're going to go ahead and upload a hero image today your images are super popular they give our page a really bright attention-grabbing image at the top go ahead and in this case is ADD button is corresponding to my hero image block I can go ahead and select photo I can upload that photo from my computer or cloud service such great that you can share it across across a few of your colleagues and I'll have access to those photos you'll notice we have lots of different photo file types available is going to remind you right there and now photos but it is asking us for alternate text we're missing all text I'll text is going to allow folks who use screen readers to engage with your side so folks typically that have Vision impairment what does image is communicating so we're going to give it some some written language this also keeps your site accessible so that's really great you can always go into your settings and go in Texas ability a little bit more about the accessibility settings included in your DMs we also have some if you want to get even deeper into the topic but the most important thing to remember is the best practice to give this text between up to an 8 or 10 word description so in this case will say swimmer completing a race so now our image is ready and accessible at the Top If we come over to this wheel over here at you'll notice that you have the really awesome option to create a photo Shuffle in at age you would just go ahead and upload more photos here as I just did and I still like this rotation option you could also have those photos stacked they all show at the same time as far as the Wind full is always going to be the default and we recommend that you keep that so if you like how it looks we're going to see when we publish our page together have it looks is really going to make this image super I catching you can also constrain it if I desire so there we are with our full image we can also pull our section menu appear as I mentioned just a minute ago so when we have more pages in the section it will disable display horizontally just like in this example versus in our side column here you'll also be able to add buttons and Lace we're going to add those at to our main body of our page so you can see what those look like they are also and then we get to adding the main bulk of our texts so of course we need to give our page a title we're going to say swim team and they're going to be able to add content to page again our add a PS3 add button is here that corresponds to a different sections let's add first to our main section in our page I'm going to add a Content page we're going to be able to see all of those paste wax today so don't worry first we're going to just add some text and now I've tasted in my text maybe we want to four this text so as you thought I pulled it over it's going to maintain some of that formatting and so I've already ceases full door I can go ahead and it just all those formatting options that you use other word processing system if I want to go ahead and insert a link I can do that here maybe I want to link that National swim Association here again anytime you link to an outside website you're going to want to get https in front of it to make sure it's secure and have that link open in a new page so am I going to send box I can hyperlink I can embed towed that would be all fixed for that hyperlink I just said I could invent some new code if I wanted I could come over here I could add some videos and some media select to say oh you know I actually think I'm going to break this up let me just have my program overview and for my coaching staff for a different part of my page but I want to add a video from somewhere on the internet so we can go if we have YouTube link of mimeo link I can go ahead and grab that link in, and drop it here and now that video preview is going to situate directly keep my content box we can also create a new content box in and put the video by itself situated within our text we are able to put it wherever we want we can also come here if I want to images in my content box to again if I wanted to situate in an image maybe appear and I wanted to make that image clickable that is a plus being able to upload images here in your content box because I go ahead add that image give it my all text I can go ahead and resize it directly from this box or with my cursor and then go ahead and form at it and if I wanted to make that link clickable I can do that to your that excuse me that image poseable I can do that here we can also add and let's go down backtrack button if we have a really text heavy box we can go ahead and any block I just left his content but I can do this is any page black I can make it collapsible so let's say you know we don't want a surly all that information we've just shared available we can reduce how much folks are going to have to scan through bismilli by simply collect coax and entering a title read more about our facilities here and this is what's going to populate on her page also we can add a photo as a standalone page blocks we can go ahead let's go ahead and upload I got a bloated multiple photos give those all I'll text once they're uploaded and then here have that being either stacked or rotational so I have that ability in my photo block at whether down here in the main page of the section or up in my hero image so add this is these are loading you'll notice sometimes the Box will collapse and Al Pacino photos added don't worry it's still uploading it you just need to cook intersection and I will come back to you again to this really quick to 25 words if I'm making a page I want to course give these a little bit more differentiated I'll text that folks to you screen M can really know what's going on here and now I've added my mini photo Shuffle to my page also add a new page bottomless out of style you'll notice again if you can collapse every type of and that you can upload any file type here to your page I'm going to go ahead and upload today feds but they want to upload my swim team handbook and you'll notice it's going to pull the name of whatever have named this document where you have saved it on your computer or iCloud Services want to rename this and so it looks a little cleaner and more sensical for folks visiting my page, click now I can come here and renamed this 20in handbook 2024 wonderful sitting outside normally I might have to do with my screen do it should normally be right about here but you're going to see it somewhere in this area that's where you can go to rename that file and in the case of PDF we can actually in bed this file to give a full preview directly in our page so if we've uploaded another file type and I sell a PowerPoint Etc it's just going to show up out of this file name PDF we can give folks a small medium or large preview directly in the page of what that PDF is now let's take a look and let's say we want to our swim staff with a few different ways we can add staff if we want to add multiple stops to a page or even we have you can head to the Health Center and read more about creating a customized staff directory, this is super cool because you can come here Select Staff Black and select as many staff as you want if you have your positions and turd in your user management we could even search by those folks how to say I wanted to create a department page and I want to pull all the English teachers I could do that in this case we would have stayed needed we had coaches in the position are we can say in this case that Oscar Richard and Dakota are are 20 inches this year and so we can pull them right here the late delay of default to to Oriental them like this but I can simply click this block, to the wheel and decide how I want those folks to be laid out so I want the photos to come here so on and so forth now photos are uploaded in user management so you could make sure folks are up to give that warm friendly personalized view to your pages if you were creating a page with a bunch of Staff maybe you do go ahead and create that customized staff directory you could even add the staff surge box so people could search for this may be on the same page that doesn't make sense we can always delete things delete that once we put it on the last thing I forgot another coach is working with us this year what someone's rolling off I can just click manage staff and switch out those folks that I want yet those are the correct books for this year look up some elements into our side column to give our page a little bit of symmetry here from a scroll up and again this ad blocks this ad but in his response to this section this is a place you might find that you really like to add on teacher any staff because for example then we can say Okay Carlos is Mr Abraham is the person related to this page 31 at the top here folks came and took that send email link and see them right at the top so you always have that option remember, those are always going to let us move things around we could even put mr. Carlos above our section menu we can also added some buttons but these are really great because they're going to let us have a hyperlink that flashy and the kids are supposed to instead hyperlink option if you will we can have multiple buttons if we want if I'm adding them in this column their course decking vertically if I add them in this column they will stack where's Angeline if I come to my it's going to let me choose between my school primary colors and if I want those labels rounded or squared it kind of looks I'm going to add those and then to make these buttons live simply going to click I'm going to drop my link example so say I have created a form here in my Santa's to sign up for swim team I'm going to go and just hover over add label and red swim team 2024 registration my other buttons I can add some information I could drop another link about our record from last year whatever I want to add those are buttons I can also add some links so these are linked topic you can definitely check out in the help set check out some of our future webinar or contact your CSS if you go into your links and you want to understand better what your topics are relating to but you could create a topic over in links that for example in this is where you're going to find lease you could create a topic that it has just easy resources that you drop into Pages as a sort of reusable menu and so then you know why but they're really beautiful we have to add these manually each time the benefit with links as we can say you know what I want my some useful links my always added with want to play everyone's got all those links. folks are always asking for without having to do 6 that Critter hyperlinks there the last element we're going to add on our page today we wouldn't admit to a swim swimming page probably but for those of you who want your school supply list on your page this is really awesome you can come make sure that your supply list is on teacher list you're going to be able to do that going to the Hammer menu in opening the supply list feature will be able to read more about their about our teacher our teacher was partnership we're going to make sure basically that is supply lists are there and then with that you can simply come here select all the lists that are relevant to this page looks and creating a page for my middle school and then all the supply list handy right there all right so we've added all the elements to our page I'm going to go ahead and save my draft and once my draft is saved I'll see this action menu populate right here was awesome about the action menu is I can come and I can preview draft and that's going to give me a call creeping Jack's is going to give me a view of this page across my different devices so I see isn't mobile-friendly so on and so forth and I can even do an accessibility scan with disk retool wave wave is awake, there's more against bility information in your settings Cabela's in The Help Center to make sure your site is as accessible as possible once I know that my page is ready to be published I can go ahead and do that anime action menu is going to change a little bit I'm going to be able to go and check click the public view this is going to take me to what my page looks like live I'm going to be able to grab the URL if I want to take a look at our page we have our hero image about our our our page looks like I accidentally copy the page really quickly it right there you can do that right here so this would be really useful if I was making a boy. and then I throw swim page and I just wanted to switch out a little bit of information I could keep all the same text in the page so are useful little error that just happened for us and here have the bread crumbs this is the only part of your quote-unquote filing cabinet that your website users can see if you don't want your bread crumbs you can also turn those off in your settings you can find your settings down here under site management and over to settings and scroll down to Pages you'll be able to control your bread crumbs as well as your default layout she can see of our options here that we added are collapsible box our photo Shuffle that's rotating through lets users pause I can scroll down I see my handbook oh great if I want to print this handbook up excuse me about a princess handbook as a parent I can just come here and I scrolled through I can just click that it's going to open that in a new window and my staff and I scroll up and you're interested in what the supply list look like if I clicked right there that's what my supply list won't look like and uploading my supply list with one click parents can be but their school supply shopping so that's really great so with that we've created our paid me already to situated on a V10 situated on our site navigation menu we could click right here that's going to drop our to the bottom of our site navigation menu and then we'll be able to move it as we want will again be able to copy it we cannot publish it if we're not ready for it to be live yet or we could always save it as a draft acquit tell if I add a section to this page that's already published we just published it of course and then I saved as a draft what's going to be saved as a draft is just that element that tastes like that I just added my my page and when I'm ready for that. Newest page block that I just added to go live I can publish so that's a nice way to get ahead of the game with pages that you might need to update that are already currently live you have that option and with that we have created all of our pages so I'll go ahead and we can come back First Swim section we see our our pages and I can open it to questions that folks might have hey tell her we did that one during the middle of the webinar if you could heat it show how to add a video to a page again great question let me see we have to tomorrow will I will highlight right after yes enjoy this weather is going to be available you'll be able to find it in the health center and I'm going to show you where you can find that I mentioned a few times it's super helpful for all sorts of being able to answer your question going to come here and you're going to be able to see a previously recorded Revenue where this will now live so our Loop images not taking over the whole screen let's go into our main page the difference between adding your hero image that is call I have chosen to be full to taking over the whole screen and here and it just gives me that really great formatting options versus coming down to this is a photo I added in the in the pitch-black here I can come here if I wanted them this is only going to be available on a single column page layouts if I want that it's available I will just have to go ahead and switch to either a hero image single column or a single column without a limit you want to go ahead and add another video Let's Go add a video right here in our side column I can come at a Content box and then I'm able to come 3.
