hello everyone good morning good afternoon we're ready to get started my name is Taylor Spratt I am a trainer here with edilio and I'll be running you through your short and sweet beginner's guide to running your school website just a few notes you're going to find this recording of you'll see that this session is being recorded on our help center we'll see where that you can find that in just a moment chances are that's where you registered for today's webinar so if you need to refer back or share with other folks in your building you're going to be able to do so you can also put any questions that you have that may come up throughout our time together in the queue and I'll make sure to get to those and we'll have some time 4 q in a the end of our time together so what that let's go ahead and get into it thank you for joining today what we're going to be doing in a beginner's guide to run your school website is going over the basics can a map in Europe. so you can understand a little bit about how to get in and play with the features a little bit further if this is one of your first times in your dashboard or maybe you haven't even been in your desperate at all yet Orient some of the main feature they're I'm hating go ahead and add social media use your classes all sorts of stuff like that a little bit about your homepage on a little bit about our other features such as form we're basically going to do very very brief overview and that's because getting into the specifics of how all the features works and what's going to work best for your same as and what school what your school school communication needs are really well with our to our one-on-one training over so this is the first time that you're in your   I'm definitely recommend that you reach out to your client success Specialist or to a second successive calm and we'll get that set up for you so you can really get into all the specifics of each feature, as well as your particular homepage design so that you can be able to use all those features to the fullest will do as much as we can today in our half hour together so let's jump right into at some of our tips and tricks one thing to know is that your site is hard-coded your what I mean by your site is your homepage on homepage designs we're going to see in a moment how we you're different homepage elements that you're able to edit in your dashboard however the you know order of where things are showing on your homepage and many of those things are hard that means you're not going to be see them as things that are edible in your dashboard so many conversations about editing your homepage design or what might be possible in your particular site definitely reach out to the 6 best team or at your client success specialist if you know who is that person is the other thing is if you haven't signed in for to your dashboard yet when you come in either a you're at Leo login information that you're going to need to put in or if Microsoft or Google SSO has been set up for you you're going to be able to go ahead and log in with your SSO if you are this admin we're going to go over at what different user types there are in your CMS if you're joining today you're probably a web admin or need to have a web admin account if no one has locked into your CMS yet your clients specialist for your program program project manager would have sent you an email with the super admin password instructions so you'll be able to log in and then three other users if you're not the Super admin and you don't have a web admitted you want to identify who that super admin is at your school so that you're able to get past this screen here and get into your dashboard and you don't know who the super admin is that your school it's not you or are you not able to locate password email from your CSS no worries at all again always reach out to us at client that's at a calm and we'll get you will get you logged in and we can also help set up the SSO if you want to go ahead and turn that on all the users of your dashboard that way no one has to remember and edlio login on to make things super simple and that's totally an option so on this note of account a types there are four different account types that exist in the lc-ms if your dashboard looks like mine and you have all of these elements in your hamburger menu that's what we call this guy right here then you're a super admin or a web admin the only difference super admin and the web admin is that super admin are going to be able to create other web webadmin are going to be able to edit the entire website going to be able to manage all the features all the elements and create update and delete reggae user accounts when we say regular user accounts we're talking about our default user account this is someone who has the basics they're going to have personal pages and that's what we've tried to as teacher pages were there going to be able to create their own hub for their classes let's say the clubs that they teach any resources they want to share at the school Community that's going to be included in a regular user account if you want to have your staff on staff directory and maybe create some password protected areas with another feature that's available in your Elias a mess but you don't want them to have any dashboard no personal Pages or not yet then that is totally possible to make minimal user accounts so those are the several accounts ice available what is that look like coming over here in to your dashboard so I can see that I'm you're in my school I have an easy way to get to my homepage just going to grab some things on the dashboard and then we'll get into where we're going to be able to see those users if I want to come over to my homepage I can simply come here and when I unblock my staff they don't have to remember that URL to your dashboard nor do you you can always come down to the end of your homepage go and click and Leo login and be brought into your dashboard especially of SSO turned on super easy because you're going to not have to remember any login information you'll just be able to come here and then login with your school email here are some ways to get help so the help center as I've already referenced super helpful down here is where you're going to see our upcoming webinar I would have a webinar every Wednesday of course yesterday observing Juneteenth we can come see our upcoming webinars and register for those likely that's how you registered for today's to keep an eye on those and today's and all of our previously recorded webinars going to be able to find here there's some really awesome teacher page webinar into a new to the teacher page feature or want to learn a little bit more about it to decide if you want to encourage your teachers to go ahead and create a teacher page for the new school year I'm here check those out there all about 30 minutes or less I'm so really helpful and here you can search all different features I'm so let's say oh I want to go ahead and get that so turned on how can I do that I can search and come see a lot of information I can come here all of articles are going to have a lot of screenshots to help jog your memory or upscale behind beyond what we're going to be able to go today in 30 minutes to hear you could come and see how he can turn on SSO in this case for Google also under your help tab if your site is live than you have excuse me this little contact and will support also in your drop down menu here are some other ways get help here are some tips for new admin deafening recommend checking those out of course be going over all of them today here if you need any help updating any content this is also available for regular users to your teacher users if they want to are you needing some help on the text side they can always come and submit content to us and we can help you can also call this 866 number again available to all users Monday through Friday 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jesse 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. eastern Time or if you can come here to create a tech support ticket on this new case button and your case is going to be blue going to be like you're going to be able to click it submit a tech support ticket see you in about 48 business hours so that's some way to get some further help I can always click on my school name and be taken back home on something else that if this pertains to you feel free to drop in the Q and A are some resources but if you have several different sites several different cms's your district and you also have several different School sites you can set up your multi-site management for your webadmin that I have access to those multiple sites so that you're easily how to switch between them so you don't have to go and sign out and sign into different school you can turn this little area into a drop down menu so again that's going to be a multi-site management in The Help Center or even 8 and I'll drop a resource before Archie what's up today so now let's go into user management for let's look at our profile I can come to my profile this is going to be available again to all users if I want to go ahead and edit of my content my contact information do I need to change my password here is where I can go ahead and upload a photo from my computer or cloud service if I want to have my photo in the staff directory as well as in my personal page you can go ahead and encourage your teachers to update their photo if you're not uploading their school photos for all your staff for the staff directory you might choose to indicate your folks to come here and do that against their profile and update that themselves now we talked about a personal Pages let's go in to see a little bit about what we need about Pages I'm going to go to my hamburger menu down to page management and over two pages again these features in-depth you can find in our help center and we have webinars that go through feature for feature by feature or I definitely recommend that you reach out to us for that one-on-one training where we can get into all the specifics of Bill your pages I'm but you as a web admin are going to have this bifurcation personal versus category and I just want to make sure to clarify what those mean in our time together today personal Pages that's going to be the teacher pages that we've talked about here's my personal page I have my own inspection menu my profile picture my name if I have positions assigned to folks and user management will see that in just a second. Going to populate here go ahead and send an email to my teacher and have this email base form come up so I can even have it ask me to verify my identity before coming in so that's going to really protect your teacher email addresses I'm going to show you how to set all of that up let us get out of here so that is my teacher Peyton you stop that I have you no extra resources that I can go ahead and add to those I can add calendars I can different pages I can take folks to other resources from other website all of that is going to be available to in our teacher page training to learn about but it's very similar to making Pages for your site as a whole that you're going to do in your category pages so category pages that were looking at here we like to think of this as the filing cabinet behind your homepage all of the pages that are part of your website beyond your homepage we have in our filing cabinet here I have six drawers I can open one of those drawers if you build those categories and I have all of these sections there as if they're filing folders I have all of my sections I Infinite Energy section I can have as many number of pages as I want you can play around see what pages you already have on if you see this little icon here that means it's in your sight navigation menu your side navigate menu is going to be this menu at the top here that you're going to be able to go ahead and edit how can you go ahead and enter that will get you in just a moment you're able to go ahead and edit these Pages move them around again recommend definitely checking out videos on pages in The Help Center or reaching out for a full training going back home we're going to be able to edit our site navigation menu by coming down to site management and up to site navigation and now all of those items you said six chop level items in all of their dropdowns are available here I need to edit so they're all accordions out and I'm able to edit each item I'm also able to even create a new top-level items if I want to go ahead and create a 7th container if you will I can come down and create that here anytime I see this Domino across the CNS I'm going to be able to reorder section anytime I see the three dots I'm going to be able to edit so let's say this about us container this about us top-level I want to go ahead and edit I can press those three. So I can simply click I can edit the text that displays and I can edit where that takes folks so right now and this is probably the case if you haven't played around in your same as too much recyclable items are going to be set to container what does that mean when I click about us I'm picking up licking its not taking anymore its just opening that dropped on it you can leave it at that or if you want clicking about us to take folks to a particular destination you have several options you can come over here click a section are Paige and have cleaning out about us take folks to a particular section or page you can look through your filing cabinet if you will or you can simply search I want to take folks to the About Us section now approach if something to know is taking folks to a section is the same as taking folks to the first page in that section you can always use those Domino's to move around the order of your pages the page the first page open is the most important page landing page that you desire I can also have Klingon about us take folks to a URL that could be a URL from our website or from a different website if it's a different website always make sure to have that open in an app so that when folks follow that URL they don't lose your school website and give secure prefix https so on and so far we can also have thinking about us Tik-Tok file so any file taxes are accepted here if you have a PDF schedule calendar that you want to share you can upload that from your computer or cloud services and I can open the file in a new tab I recommend you keep that setting on how to take folks to a feature page those are those features that that we can get into more and more extended training but you're going to be able to take folks let's say ridiculous forms to particular calendars to Bells so on and so forth maybe have a photo album you've created you can go ahead and select that feature here all of the drop-down items in each of those top-level items are going to have the same options to edit and you're going to be able to indent so not in the first one cuz there's nothing to indent indent under but starting our second we can go ahead two or three dots member that lets us edit to go ahead and make that stop item or no I don't want history oceans under admissions that can make it a parent item again any changes you make here moving things around adding things make sure to save it reminds us these changes are unsafe so far and that is our site navigation menu now let's get in to user Management in return to these account types again if you're looking at a dashboard that looks like this you have all of our most popular features you have a web admin password and you'll be able to go ahead and edit update those regular user accounts where can I find those user accounts down here at site management and user management in here can I see all of the folks that have Jack boards or if you have minimal users that you are just pulled into your staff directory here in your Sienna we can add users individually if this is your you're saying this is brand new you don't have anyone in here you can also bulk upload users just reach out to your client success Specialist or client success at at leo.com they can send you a csb formatted file you can drop all your stuff information and they can upload it for you and then you can use these filters to see if you want to encourage folks to enable two-factor authentication if you want to see who are web admin vs. teachers you can stack these filters very useful you also be able to come in it's an edit any regular user if you're the super admin you'll also be able to edit your web admin you can email password reset link disable this user if they've moved on from your school that's going to go ahead and hide their teacher pages we're still going to have access to them as a web admin so you don't have to worry if you need to go ahead and access that information later disabling them is going to allow you to do that and let's just look really quickly at a new user so I can show you off things that are going to be helpful to know pretty new user you know edit Leo really pride ourselves on our rcms being intuitive so hopefully it's feeling that way especially the more time you play around in your CMS user you just going to give all the obligatory details it's really just username password name and email position filled is going to populate that position information into your staff directory and is also going to allow you to use the stew page blocks that way you can build a customized staff directory or pull particular folks onto a page of Sam making a page by English Department if I put the position titles for everyone I'll be able to pull all my English teachers on Backpage with you so again we have some information about page building pages and that cuts my staff directory in our help center and that's where you'll find the position information User type is by the necessary if I want this person to pull into my staff directory the Santas reminds me of that though I'm so if I want this person to pull the staff directory simply give them a user type switching them as a teacher is also going to give them a classes feature to which is a great little blog space for teachers to have newsletters to send to the subscribers of their teacher page all of that you can go ahead and read more here in case we go ahead and choose if you're going to make this a standard use or minimal access user if your web admin if you're super admin you'll also see another web app I can create a standard user we know another Pro tip is being no he know I'm keeping up with managing your school web if you want to make sure to have all of the most important information can be a lot of work and so that's why you can delegate who has access to particular admin features to go ahead and help you edit an update you come over here to categories in sections creating a teacher and you want them to help you update your English page now that person's going to have in their personal page management their personal page and just this section page section in categories edit if I don't give my standard user access to any of my page sections or a complete category if I want to do that category they're not going to have any category page I'll just have their personal Pages I'm able to do the same with my features I'm able to give discreet edit access admin editing access so if I want this user to not be full with admin but I want them to help me with the Athletics news Lakes calendar and let's say some forms that I use for a lot of Mathletics sign up so I can go ahead and do that and now that person's going to have just those discrete features in their dashboard as a standard user you can even talk them into password-protected are which you'll find right here under page management password protected areas is helpful if you want to go ahead and play some pages or features that you just want staff to be able to see you're going to be able to use password protected area for that and that is users now I mentioned of course when you create a user if you want to make it go ahead and say it remember you can also both upload folks using the csb now I mentioned our staff 3 hour Legacy staff directory the Plug and Play at Fells populated staff directory you're going to be able to find that down here in site management and over to staff directory you're going to see all your users that have a user type are pulled in the staff directory this is what it looks like in this case I also have it here and eyesight navigation menu because this is going to be the easiest way to go ahead and find some of your teachers let's say my child is in mr. Benson's class this semester I can find him here I can send him an email I see another example of a teacher page in this case for this teacher I can go ahead and subscribe as a parent or student and so forth know what information so here's another example of a teacher page just so you can get a glimpse of that what information shows here in the staff directory is going to be editable by me over here in my staff directory feature on my dashboard I'm simply going to come and select click directory options if I want to change the name of the title so what appears here I can go ahead and change the directory named how stuff order depending on the culture at your school and what information I want to list if a my disposing phone numbers or not profile photos positions or not now by default display send email that I showed is here you can go ahead and just display the person's email directly if you want or keep that form base emailing On and Here are my layout options for mice after x-ray can choose between again if I want those profile show or not remembering to save changes at the bottom something else I want to appoint out as might be very helpful to put different reminders and things for the summer are our homepage widgets if you come down to page management and over to your homepage widgets you're able to situate forms and button widgets on your homepage so if I want to go ahead and encourage summer sing challenge or registration or book at or I can go ahead and create that label and drop whatever link I want to take folks to hear I'm able to control the widget behaviors if I want to see more conspicuous sticking to the window or move with the page which one of my primary color styles I want to choose these are your children with your site design there probably our school colors so that's where those primary colors are being pulled from I'd also pull up form widget upon which it is a great way to go ahead and populate your contact list so then go ahead and send newsletters again we have some great webinars in our help center about this we also be more than happy to go through your entire home page design and all of these extra just reach out to us but just to give you a little bit of a taste you can play here I would be able to go ahead and decide what information I want to let folks give to what I'm going to require and to itch Craigslist I want this to send to maybe I'm building my newsletter contact list so on and so forth I need to save my changes at the bottom and let's take a look at what that looks like on our home page and here I see my button widget and my contact form which it now of course my homepage is a lot longer than this so if I want to move things up or down or around I'm going to be able to do that and there they are my user's you also have the option of homepage alert we don't have time to get into those today but those are going to relate to your news so I'm going to show you where you can find your news on your homepage you're going to go to In-N-Out Action News and alerts and he'll see all your news that is publishing to your home page you can also create additional news categories and go ahead and situate those on your site navigation menu for example at station an additional news category and then. You are well situated on your site navigation menu somewhere or in one of your page sections so that you can go ahead and differentiate what news is pulling to your homepage Carousel and what other news you might want to go ahead and publish I'm going to show you how you can create those extra categories in a moment and when you create news by adding news you'll also be able to push that news as a homepage I can also create a homepage alert for the fax by coming to edit that news with my three dots of course clicking announce and turning on my homepage other is in default for 24 hours I can go Ed and change that and this is what my homepage the other is now much look like whenever someone comes into my website they're going to have to engage with my homepage alert I can choose to have the picture or not I can go ahead and edit this button that will take me to read my whole new story I can say don't show again or exit out but that's going to be my homepage alert so those are some few ways to go ahead and make obvious announcements on your homepage this summer should you be so interested now passing through the other elements that are on your homepage for example we have links here are links feature we have a photo Shuffle several Spotlight messages that's what these are called if you recognize anything like these on your homepage maybe they have a button maybe they don't maybe they have a picture maybe they don't again depending on your homepage design we have some other links we have a calendar Carousel of course another Spotlight message some more links down here I just want to take a quick moment to show you here is where I'm going to see those links under my page man and under announced here's where I'm going to see those Spotlight messages do you want to edit a photo Shuffle that you have at the top of your homepage or maybe you have a featured video you're going to want to come down to Media photo Shuffle and Shuffle your videos will be here in videos mount with our last few moments I want to come down to show you a few important settings here if you want to go ahead and set up. Contact form authentication form for folks to be able to send an email through that form base emailing on your your staff directory it would just keep that check right here your accessibility settings by default are turned on this will keep your site in line with Ada Americans with Disabilities Act you can come here Eclipse go ahead and reload sorry about that folks let's go back in to our settings apologies so in your settings let's just see one more time if I can you're going to have all of those settings there now let me get this started out well I my last moments with you before opening the qna give you a few other pieces of information so that is where you going to be able in your settings to go and turn on your accessibility about what accessibility means a lot of it is going to do with alternate text all text anytime that you upload an image when your accessibility settings are turned on it's going to ask you to put all text the best practice there is to put a 228 word description of what's funny in that image the great thing about your accessibility setting is that you're not going to have to remember if you made each site accessible or not a page made each feature it's already going to be set for you also on your side you're going to be able to go down at to social media that's where you going to be able to contact at to connect excuse me your Facebook Instagram in your ex formerly known as Twitter that's going to allow you to push out any news and alerts directly to your social you'll even be able to make broadcast encourage you to look into this if it's something that you don't know already broadcast is an awesome teacher that will allow you for free to push your social media and with a premium broadcast also send a voice text and email in up to three additional languages to your school community also in settings is where you can turn on classes if you're interested in having your teachers be able to connect Google Classroom Google Classroom integration or they can create classes manually on their dashboard to are at Leo class feature those are both available and finally you'll be able to go down to a SEO and Mark I mean you'll be able to add any Medici words for that Kris your SEO especially if your private school and we know how important that is scroll to the bottom of that setting you also be able to go ahead and add your Google Analytics over in our health center we have a really awesome article I'll go ahead and drop this in the chat about adding Google analytics to your site you'll come over to your settings scroll down again to ask you in marketing put in Buena Lakes measurement key and then be able to come over here to analytics and public site analytics and again I apologize folks but this is going to open an integration to your Google analytics it's free for you all as you can see us clicking what traffic you're getting where folks are going all that great information again tree with Google so it's really an invaluable tool and I'm going to go ahead and drop that I'm help center article in the chat now now I also definitely recommend you check out our forms feature we have forms for a lot of different purposes again back to school forms you can go ahead and or even able to select signatures to collect PDF forms you're able to collect more traditional forms by using this forms feature by situating that PDF of that file collection and you can even collect payments you can collect payments for back to school swag all sorts of awesome things definitely recommend you checking out resources in our house there are booking a training with us with that I want to thank you for joining today again anything you need to learn more we are here to make sure you're successful it's in the name of the email reach out to us at client success at edilio or if you know who your client success specialist is feel free to reach out to them directly
