hello and welcome to our webinar the beginner's guide to building Pages where today we will be covering everything you need to know to get started with Ed Leo's Pages module and this one today is for True beginners all right we're going to be post webinars with some more page management tips and tricks in the very near future but today we're going to be looking at how administrators and teachers can create an update Pages best practices for sharing content everything else you need to know to use pages to effectively reach your entire School Community impressive-looking pages with the Ed Lee ocms and by the end of this webinar today you will be well on your way the creating some of your very own so let's get started all right as you can see here I'm logged into the edlio college prep admits that he has home page button you can just bring it to your home page and this is the site with me working on today now back over here to the admin site I wanted as Daniel Benson right now and I'm a webadmin all right now you can tell you're a webadmin if you go in and you see all of these modules here so I must say you're a regular user not a web your home screen here might look a little bit different and that's a okay because we're recovering today how you build out Pages applies the same to web Emmons and teachers are at just where you're going in and adding those pages is the real differ I'm trying to get into that in a second I know how do we get to the pages module down here at all right now here we're here we're going to see category pages and personal Pages all right and this is what I was talking about before now a web admin here is going to see these category page these are all of the pages within your school site here and inside this organizational system here in a second you go over your personal pages high-end these are your personal painted these are your own little slice the site every single and the user has their own personal Pages they can go ahead and so if you're just a you know a regular user and you go down to a page manager pages are you going to go right here you're just going to see the others personal Pages section here we can go in and start adding a Vulcan paid when I burp it you know a lot of teachers will go ahead add pages for individual classes a little about me page photo album calendars things like that links to other Pages outside of the other website if need be so this little slice this site if you are a teacher recovering how to build out content within a page today so once we get into that it's going to be the same thing if I'm going up here and adding a page here is going to be the same thing as I'm about to high like with web admins a building out a page with in a category in a section right so if you are a teacher and you're coming here to learn how to build out a page just bear with me for a second here when we look at some other stuff you for whatever and we'll get into actually building a paid which applies to every all right so we can I come here to pages all right now here are category page like I said before these are all of the pages that live within your sight all right now let's get into the organizational structure of this all right now but if you talk to anybody at Leo about how we organize our sights you might have heard this before but I think about your site as a filing cabinet okay now you know you going to a website you're going to have punched a Pages once you've been directions to go into there okay so again your website is a filing cabinet at first off we have the categories he alright these categories are like the drawers within your filing cabinet here right now so you have up to six categories to use play with any of the names edit these and go out here and edit these I'm on the side here is completely up to you and your team now again category filing cabinet drawer open that drawer now that we are here in the clubs and after-school activities category down here you can see all of our section are the sections are the next level in our organizational structure filing cabinet drawers to open that drawer clubs in activities were open that drawer and right here we have all these sections these are the folders with in that filing cabinet or all right so you open one of these up Russian Club here all right now these are the individual Pages these are the pieces paper I live with inside the folder that live inside of the filing cabinet drawer that live inside of the filing cabinet right so easy way to kind of think about how our pages are structured how you can go ahead and organize things within your site all right now again we're going to go back here to our clubs and after-school activities category with all the sections here I'm going to go ahead and create a new section here for a new after-school Club here are section give it a name do the film club now here we go right now we haven't added anything else if I click this public link right now we got nothing no constant has been added rights let's go ahead and add some I'm sitting here right click new page there was a few different options here now for this webinar we're going to be highlighting a blank page today but if you want to you can go ahead and link to another page if you build out a form in the ugliest MSU go ahead and add that here if you have any videos or photo albums in a repository there and media can go ahead and add those here as well video feature might be really helpful for our film club year do you have your own specific calendar for this club or act whatever you want you can go ahead and add that here as well as links down here are using are super cool links feature you can go ahead and add a separate page this was a bunch of helpful links you know if you want to go ahead and direct anybody to any specific pages do you want there with our links feature but letting a how to build out a page today all right click blank page here alright great we have a blank canvas here all right so this is going to be our welcome page here horror film club okay that's first thing I'll do is give her name their title all right top to bottom you know the first thing I want to look at here is our layout all right we have a six different options here you see up top here we have these with the little section menu on the left or right here this one here on its owners of the page on its own and down here we have similar options but we have that horizontal block at the top that horizontal block at the top that is for a hero image at the top of your paid it's the sharpest and I think it's just the most professional looking am I just really love the way kind of brings the audience into your page and click one these all right you can go and play with the default lay out here in your page settings right whatever you build out a page of Auto default to whatever like that you have there in your settings I would go ahead and add just this one so it is using this hero image at the top here right when it's like that ad our hero image will click at all right now up here you can add some photos the section menu and the Section 8 is going to any other pages that we have within our section right so clubs and after-school activities up here and that's the category film club the section now this page you're welcome to ECP film club is the first page within the second we added some more what say we added that video repository we added that photo album we added a calendar there right if we added this extra money up here we'd be able to get to all of those pages from that section many there with buttons will get that in a second and links book when Dad our photo our hero image at the top here to upload that all right let's go ahead and add some text to always add alt text here for anybody using a screen are we need to have a description of what this image is all right we'll go ahead and click safe up here click this little Cog in the top right now this give you some options here right now if you want to have multiple pictures hear you neither have them stacked or you can have them rotate through like a shuffle and then hear your with you have a constrained or you have a full with I am always always going to be a fan of forward again I think it's Singapore that sharp look I think it looks great I'm so glad and use that full with here but again player on the settings see what works best for you and your vision of your sight will go and click save there I would have that big banner that the top already I thought we have our hero image ready to go we have our title of this pain can actually start building out some content okay in first thing we want to do is add some Continental could this ad button now here we have a few. top is no content box this is going to bring out a text editor for us to use we can add photos files supply list but in most of these things today here right what's going to start with the content box add and pay some text in here down here you see we go ahead do you play with our text at it up here just like any general text her that you've ever used right going to Boulder italicized if you want to play with the alarm here I go again just like any other text editor here your font size anything like that you can go ahead and play with you can add a video or a photo here directly in the are the content box here click this button right here to a play button looking a button here alright then you can either grab the mbed code straight from YouTube are or Vimeo wherever you want here and I'm just going to I'm going to go here to General and Source I'm going to go ahead and paste just at the YouTube clip as is I never go we have that video embedded there with our tax let's go and save draft remember I was really important to make sure you're saving as you're going along its really really crucial to do that now down here right now I just saved the draft I didn't publish it yet this page is still not live yet all right so I'm going to go back here just to kind of show you some of the we see a white pages unpublished but over back over here to the film club are the section here we got that little eye a line through it there Diamond it has not published yet so I went here again no content has been added yet not until we go ahead and publish it go back into the page and keep editing and add some more stuff all right our content box with Addison text we've added a video here it's going to add some more what's at some photos right let's go ahead and let's say the phone Club has been around for a while now we want to show everyone how much fun this is what's going at these photos here make sure we add alt text for all of them like I was saying before so go ahead and do that I will speed this part up would Adderall text here let's go ahead and click this this car guy. See the settings no game like I was saying before right we can go ahead and decide whether or not we want us to be full with a patient might not be too forward there to keep that constrain now far are we going to have to stack on top of each other so we received the picture is kind of down in a row 1 2 3 going down I'm going to go ahead and use this here this rotate like a Photoshop up more fun visual element to the Future II people kind of scroll through I think it's looking a lot better than say that content block all right you will go ahead and add a PDF will see why here a second load Google will add this film club expectations here all right now if you want to go in and edit the name of your PDF know a lot of PDF five random numbers and letters for the name or something like that you do and renamed it here if you like knows that some spaces there okay down here if you want you can either just a publisher as is with the file name it will take a look what this looks like now so we'll go over here to actions public View I'll come down here we have an idea what our page looks like we have the video there are written content we have that photoshop up and down here we have that film club expectations with clicking that it's going to open into a new tab here where we see that PDF I want to just play on the Patriots going to take a look at how we do that it's like back here into the file going to have it uploaded here looks like these three dots now we can display it a preview of the actual a PDF itself and goes by sizes here I'm going to go to the biggest one right here now that this will actually display on the page as it so we can go right through and scroll through this PDF will go ahead and publish that right now alright let's keep working our way down the line the next up we have a supply list on this is a really handy feature you know we have a whole separate webinar about I definitely recommend checking into that we're not going to add any supply list today for film club by deadly recommend checking out one of our weather is about supply list it's a very very handy feature all right now what in tear these are really helpful on potentially you can link out to other pages with with these buttons here it's going at a label first and foremost this is an after-school Club so we need people to register for it so let's go ahead and register today not down here on this case was saying it was a form that we won go to we go out and paste the link for that form ready to go here or not come over here to the car we play the settings again we have our different label options you know these are based on the primary colors used within your school site design there was a big difference here is the rounded edges versus the the straight edges here I kind of prefer the rounded edges look right save that you know actually cuz we really want people to see what's going on up here let's make that a number one all right all right so we have that ready to go now we've got a text box with content vetted photos files are we had a button here now for a lynx and staff that's going to add these somewhere else all right now I'm going to click out of here I'm going to add him over here to our section menu on the side over here now we're going to start here with our links model right and I definitely recommend checking out our one of our links webinars is a great way to share you know any links that you want to go ahead and share with yours Community you know things that might be relevant to whatever your club or Department anything like that whatever you're on your page or whatever relevant links there might be it is kind of a more visually engaging way to go ahead and show people where you know you might want to send do outside of this page here so I've already filled out some links for film club I'm going to watch that webinar on legs give you a better idea of how they work all right my wet and add our film links here here we have those cool little icons we can add for whatever we had their way up to Dad there when I add another page block here and that's going to be our staff all right he's going to be the people who Run film club all right so this case I'll go ahead here and add Daniel Benson right here now again like before we go ahead and click that Cog now we want to go ahead and display the staff photo here we can do that choose how we want that sappho to look what they want to be one of these Circle here or one of these square blocks right here this middle-sized circle they're all right so we have that ready to go we'll go ahead and publish all right now we have just built out our after-school ECP film club hate let's go ahead and take a look at how it looks I want to go up here to actions public View all right now again up here we have that full with hero image here Grand Dad we have that button and I'll bring them to that form to go ahead and register for film club and here we have the video we added to the content page block directly within their so people can play the video where a directly on your page come down here we have some text on here all right down here we have our photo Shuffle it's going on down we have our classroom expectations PDF or they can go to school right here on the page and click on that link open it in a new tab so I can easily download it all right just rolling back up here we have our links and down here we have that staff block that we used good at that staff member there a lot of schools will go ahead and create customized staff directors using our staff blocks feature and you want to go ahead and create a staff directory just for the Department you can do that very easily with our Pages feature here in the stopwatch a lot of them will have a little bios for each teacher and then the parents and go on here they click on the name here and it brings the parents to the personal pages of that teacher write Linda personal page of mr. Benson here pretty cool again you know it's a great way to go ahead and go without a staff directory there but we just went ahead and built out an entire page together all right I think that is going to do it for us today I want to thank you all so much for joining us for this webinar building out that page with me today in our beginner's guide to building Pages check back in the coming weeks are we at we will have a more advanced look at building Pages here I hope if that you are a your new user a new web admin a new regular user that this was some help to hear you know just get in the page in Marvel they're playing around with it you know the sky's the limit creatively with the stuff and you know we've seen some really beautiful pages I come out of this this tool here and you know if you need any help building Pages reach out your client success specialist they are always happy to help again I want to thank you so much for joining us and we hope to see you at the next one alright take care
