Teachers, thank you so much for joining us as we enter into another installment of my Edlio training specifically on refreshing your minds on the teacher pages. We're really excited to have you today. What I want to do is just pretty much go step-by-step on how you all will be managing your pages. Some of you are actually new to Edlio and haven't had a chance to dive in and just start adding content, or integrating classes, or just getting an overview of what the teacher page will look like, once the content has been built and it's accessible in your staff directory. And then some of you have pretty much had experience maintaining teacher pages but just needed an overview or need to be updated about some of the new options that we have, or some of the features you're just not using. So let's jump right in. Now, as I mentioned, depending on your site, you all may have buttons set up somewhere on your site that say staff directory, faculty, or this may be listed under any one of your drop down menus. So I'm clicking staff directory here, your parents and students can access your teacher pages within the directory. Once that's done, they click on the page, all of your content is then visible there. So with that in mind, let's go to the admin site. And a few things to keep in mind here. So on the admin site, as you know, all of the privileges that you do have access to are on this dashboard. I had a few questions about, you know, I need access to XYZ area, or I'm over a club, or I'm over athletics, well as you know an English teacher, how do I go about doing that? Now remember, these privileges are maintained by your school's website administrator. Your site's website administrator. So it's very important for you to get in contact with them and allow them to adjust after the privileges, but an easier way around that is to go to the account drop down menu, click on profile. There is a request privileges button here. That will allow you to request additional access for any areas that you need to maintain. You submit this request, this goes directly to your website administrator, they then approve or deny those requests. So again those of you who do have multiple responsibilities and you are looking to maintain additional content outside of your teacher page, you can find those details there. So one other thing I do want to discuss is updating your profile image. Remember, if you haven't, some of you haven't had a chance to use the email sender but the profile image that you're using is not just shown in the staff directory, this is also something that your parents and students can see in your email sender. When you're sending, you know, newsletters about what's happening in the classroom out to your parents or your contact lists. You manage that also under the account drop down menu and profile. If you mouse over the my photo option a pencil is in the bottom right-hand corner, you just click that and drag and drop your image here. Now for those of you who are not using a Google single sign-on option or your, you know, staff is not set up by active directory, there is a change password option here. And if you want to edit the details in your profile, we're going to go through this below. Now keep in mind your username can not be changed, that can only be managed by your website administrator. And that website administrator, you know, can maybe change the spelling, change the name itself, and change your privileges, everything else under the profile you're managing. Now another thing to keep in mind about your profile details, this is also reflected under the staff directory, so when you are, you know, maintaining that content or updating what's in your profile, that would be reflected on your teacher page, and in some cases in the profile in the email sender. Now what we're going to do next is outside of updating the profile photo or the username, if you need to maybe add an extension, add office hours, or, you know, maintain how your links are setup, or if you have an external site that you would like your users to access, you can also add that into the staff directory. So again, what we're going to do, first name if you'd like to update that, last name, position, email. Email should only be your school email address. I know that may be a little obvious to some of you but please remember that that is the email option. Let's refresh so we can see this teacher page. When your users click on your page, the send email option on your profile, when they submit this email, it goes directly to your school email address. Other than that there's a subscribe button here. This subscribe button is allowing the parents and students to subscribe to your general content on the page. So anytime you create a photo album, anytime you add a video, a new page, add a post, they are notified by adding the details here. You can also, as a teacher, manage your contacts, we'll cover that under contact lists. Now in addition to updating your profile, the image, and having your users subscribe, as you know, you have unlimited space to maintain your teacher page. I normally suggest that users add a bio of some sort. And you're just simply doing this the same way you add your pages. Page management, pages. So all you need to do here is just click add page and blank page. So you're adding your content that is populated to the teacher page and as you know, of course you're managing your section menu. So your page menu that's listed there. For example, if you want to change the order of the pages you drag and drop, your home page or the page that's inclusive of your bio should always remain at the top of the list. That's the first landing page that your users should actually see because that includes your profile information. Other than that, again, you can drag-and-drop to change the order of the other pages. If you click the three dots to the right you have multiple options, but remember the unpublish could be really useful for those of you who have content that is only useful during certain parts of the school year. So for example, intro to trig, if this is only useful for, you know, the first 60 days of the school year, I want to unpublish this. It will be disabled from the live site, saved here on the backend. So, whenever I'm, you know, maybe this new school year is approaching and intro to trig, it's just a general overview of, you know, the details of this class. I'm ready for it to go live, click plublish. Now, any page that you add, of course the most recent will be added to the bottom of the list I've had a few questions there, but with your links as you can see you can add individual links to these pages. Or if some teachers are providing resources, you can add a links feature page and that is essentially just a long list on the landing page. So links have already been created here, I click links, and this is what it looks like on the live site. There's a link for resources, a link for scholarships, but you can add as many links as you, you know, have to offer. Links, add link, the name of the link so let's say parent resources here, add a URL, add a description if you'd like, save. So now when I go back and refresh, parent resources as a link has now been added. So you can again choose to add individual links or you can add an entire page. Now teachers also remember that aside from adding your pages and managing some of your features that are in your page menu, you can add your classes. Now with the classes, let's go to classes, there is an option to integrate classes, add to Google Classroom. And just to keep you updated there, keep in mind that some of you who do use Google Classrooms, you have the option to integrate if you'd like, but if you'd like to just manually add your details that's perfectly fine. So when you get to your classes page all you need to do is click add class. There, if you're integrating, again through Google Classroom, you're going to click connect, this will redirect you to Google Classroom, you select as many classes and assignments as you'd like to populate to your teacher page. Once you do that the classes will of course populate here but the difference is you'll see the Google Classroom icon. So your students can click that class, be taken to a landing page with all of the detail that you see here, maybe upcoming assignments and due dates, and then there's a Google Classroom button as well. Now as you see there is a subscribe button. Parents can say I really just want to be notified when assignments are due. Teachers, you have that option as well. For all of your subscribers, again, you're managing those lists under announce and contact lists. All of your subscribers are below. You can manage them individually if you'd like, or you can customize lists. Create new list, we're going to call this 2017/18 volunteers. So of course you can add a single contact if you'd like or add in bulk by CSV file, drag and drop. And your lists are also accessibile under announce and email sender. So all you need to do is click my info is correct, start an email, but of course if you want to update your email address, still needs to be your school email, you can do that above. So a lot of you have, you know, just jumped right in and used this feature before but if you haven't seen this, if there are any admins on the call who are wanting to take this information back to your teachers, all teachers have access here. You do not have to give them additional access under user management. Once you select them as a teacher they're going to see this. Teachers if you did not know, you can also create newsletters here, not just using the regular template for emails. So I'm going to click include your news, continue. The first section allows me to add text so I'm going to copy and paste little text here. Second column allows me to add news to my newsletter. You can add as many as you'd like. Teachers, if you're wanting to keep your parents updated on what's happening with the school events, perfect option here. Third section allows me to add more text. Now there is a save and exit button here if you want to draft your emails you're more than welcome to do that. There's also a preview button here, this is the only place where you see a preview button right now, so as I mentioned this gives you an idea of what this looks like on a mobile device and a desktop. And remember that profile photo will be reflected in your newsletter. Now you also have a calendar option. Teachers, unfortunately you do not have the option to integrate with Google Calendars just yet so what you would need to do is click add event, and add your details below. Pretty straightforward, that's not changing the layout of your page at all but they can essentially access the calendar the same way they would access it from the live site. So they click calendar here. All of your events will be populated on this page. I can also click show all events and show calendar. Show calendar is a printer friendly version. Show all events. And of course you'll have a larger overview here but remember there's also that subscribe option. A lot of you have heard me mention this in your individual trainings with your schools, this is a great way to get your parents updated and stay updated pretty quickly. So let's say your parents use Google Calendars, they can sync your school calendar or district calendar with their personal calendar. So any changes that you make, whether you've integrated your calendars, admins, because this feature is also available on your live site, so if you didn't know that, you can integrate. So whether you have, you know, updated just the time or just the location of that event, it will update their personal calendars immediately. So with the calendar, again, a lot of you want to maybe embed your current Google calendar to your teacher page? You're more than welcome to do that. Now we also have posts here. Now your posts are much more, teachers find that this is a really convenient option if you don't have time to create a page. So this is a quick and easy way to get some information out there to your teacher page. So on the admin site, we're going to posts, and you have five options here: text, link, photo, file, and video. Add text here. Post to all your class pages or just your personal page, save. So now when I go back and refresh, the details of testing day are listed below. So, of course the most recent is added to the top. If you click posts in your menu, it gives a more dated text version for parents so they have an idea of when this content was posted to your site. Now also under announce, I'm sorry under plan, we have a facilities option. I don't normally tackle this mainly because the admins have to set this up prior to teachers seeing what's actually available. So this allows you to add multiple rooms or spaces that you have available for reservation. Again, your admins will add the details here and as a teacher you can see when you login you'll automatically see the details here. So for example, if I'm a teacher and I would like access to the gym I can click the three dots to the right and review the schedule. This calendar will allow you to see what's pending and what's been approved. In addition to that, there's a reserve option here. This is where I'm submitting my details to reserve that facility. This is actually sent to the facility manager, and again, that is who is approving or denying this request. Now let's go to more, you have your links and contact lists here as well, so again, if you're wanting to provide a complete list of links as opposed to just adding them individually that will extend your section menu. And then of course your account lists which is something that you can manage. And those are also found on your dashboard. Now teachers I do want to talk resources with you for just a moment. If you were not aware for those of you who do have live sites, you have unlimited access to technical support so you're more than welcome to call in and ask questions or get an overview of, you know, how to manage certain areas. Or you submit a technical support ticket by going to your help drop down menu, you can contact Edlio support. Now the help center, this will definitely provide a screenshot, screenshot play-by-play of how to, under the beginners section. In addition to that you can continue registering for upcoming trainings. And for those of you who are unable to make, you know, future trainings or your staff may have questions there's a video section here. You can actually review the trainings and then, you know, send them out to your staff if you'd like. For those admins on the call who are preparing for teacher trainings, I would suggest that you go through all help topics if you'd like, or a lot of admins have given us feedback about how printing out some of the details in the beginner section have been extremely helpful for their teacher trainings. So if you have any questions or you need pointers or some tips, feel free to reach out to us and we would all be more than happy to get you in the right direction when it comes down to training your staff. Just so that you're aware of how to, teachers, whether it's you using your teacher pages, or updating them, or even just some, an extra push on how you can add more content, enhance pages. And then admins, you just need or you may request some example teacher pages. If this is something that you need resources, you know, we can share with you.
