Alright, so today we're going to be going over, about the top six things, that most people have questions on when it comes to updating. So, we're going to start with the homepage shuffle. The homepage shuffle is going to be what's right here at the top. So, we're going to navigate to our admin side here, and in order to update our homepage shuffle images, we can either click on the modules here, or we can come up here to the hamburger menu. When we click on the hamburger menu, we'll go to menu, down to media, and then over to shuffles. You're going to see our homepage shuffle here. We click on that, and this is where we're going to update our images. So in order to do so, you can simply click here on the upload media, and then it will ask you—you can either drag and drop an image here, or you can click 'upload'. Your shuffle dimensions will be up in the top right-hand corner. These are going to be the dimensions that are recommended in order to have the best resolution for for your shuffle. When we come here, this is going to be our slide layouts. So right here we can rearrange our images for whatever order we'd like them to be in by clicking the little trash can that will remove the image from the shuffle, and then we can also click on slide transitions. We can have arrows. We can have a carousel where you'll see some little thumbnails at the bottom, numbers, and dots. So right now on our homepage shuffle here we have our arrows, so let's go ahead and switch that over to the dot so we can see what that looks like. So, we will click on the dots. We can pick the slide duration, and then we click on 'Save'. Once we receive the notice that it's been saved, we can come back to our live site, refresh, and then our slide transition has changed. So, we no longer have our arrows. We can come back, add the arrows, click save, refresh again, and now we'll have our slide transition arrows. Next, we're going to be talking about news and announcements. So, to get there we're going to go to our menu. We will go to announce and then news and alerts. Adding news is going to be a quick and easy way for your website visitors when they come to your home page to see, right here, is the most recent news. Some of your websites may say news & announcements - it may just say news - but this is where all of those news stories are going to live. So, let's go ahead and add a new news story here. So we're going to click add news. We're going to post it to news and announcements. I want to give it a headline here. It will say Since we've been getting lots of snow, we're going to have a snow day today. This is where we can have our short summary. Then any additional content you would like to add here - whether it is text you want to link to a file, or if you want to link to another page. You can also use a source, and you can link to a source. We can also add a photo. So let's go ahead and drag and drop our photo here. We'll want to add our alternative text. We want this to post now, and then we're going to click save. Now we also have the option since this is going to be an alert that we want everyone to see right away when they log on to the website is we can make a homepage pop-up alert. So let's do that as well So we want it to post right now because this is the first order of business that we want all of our website visitors to see. So lets come back to the homepage and refresh, and you can see our pop up alert is right here. So in order for people to be able to see the rest of your website, they will have to acknowledge this So, they can click okay, they can read the full story, or we can just go ahead and close out of it. Now when we scroll down, you can see that our snow day has been posted. Website visitors can click the read more, and they will be directed to the full article. For the homepage pop-up alert, you can disable it if you'd like to by coming back to the admin and turning it off. Otherwise, it will automatically expire in 24 hours; however, the news article will always remain down in the news section. Alright, let's talk about our spotlight message. We're going to come to menu, back to announce, and just to spotlight messages. You can see here on our homepage that we have our principal's message, so let's go ahead and update that. We'll just click the title here. Then we can also add a photo, so let's go ahead and remove this one. Let's add a new photo here. We click save. This is going to be going right to our Spotlight message. We clicked save here. We can see that this has now been saved, so once again we will refresh a couple of times. Now we have our new spotlight message here. We can click on the title, and then that's going to bring us to our full message here. So, as simple as that may be, every school year you can have a new welcome message from your principal - anything that you find a super important that you want people to see - it can live right here. Now what we're going to do is talk about our site navigation. The site navigation is how your website visitors will navigate throughout your website, and that's how they're going to find the different pages. I will show you now where we can add a new page in our site navigation drop down. So, we're going to go to our menu, site management, site navigation, So this is where all of our drop downs live, so let's go ahead and add a new page to our site navigation. In order to do so, the page must already be created. So, in order to create a page, let's go to page management, pages. Let's go ahead and update our my edlio webinar page. So, here we got our page title. We have an image. We have some content talking about our webinars, and then I added a little register button here. This is simply going to be an inline image, and I then inserted a link. When we're on the live site that image will actually turn into a button, and then it will redirect our website visitors to that particular link. So, we've got our caption here, our alternative text, and then we want to click save. We can see that it's saved now, so if we want to see what this page looks like before we add it to our side navigation, you can simply click the public link button here. So now we're previewing our page, and so, I like the way it looks. So, let's go ahead and add it to our site navigation. So, again, menu, site management, site navigation. We're going to add a new item, and then we need to select our page. Here you can search if you know the title of your page, otherwise all of the pages that you have created will be living down here below. So, I know that this is a my edlio webinar. We can see here the section and then our my Edlio webinar page. I'm going to select that. We want to click done, and before navigating away, we must click apply changes in the top right-hand corner. You can also drag and drop to rearrange this, so if it is an item that you really find important and you want to move it up the list, let's go ahead and move it right up to the top here and apply changes. We're going to refresh a couple of times, and now our new page is in our site navigation. So, now we have our my edlio webinar page linked to our site navigation, and then, here, the image that we turned into a little button. If we click it here, it is redirecting us to where we sign up for our my Edlio webinars in the Edlio help Center. So, thats a fun way to to have a pretty link that looks like button rather than just simply hyperlinking text. Alright, so now let's talk about calendars. Calendars is something that we definitely need to keep updated for all of the parents so they know exactly what meetings are happening when. So to do so, again, we're going to come to our menu, and plan, and calendars. Right now it's going to come up to the most current month here. Our calendar lives down here at the bottom called "events", so let's go ahead and add a new event. We want to know where this is going, so we're going to put it in our events calendar, give it a title, and then we're going to pick our date and time. So, let's go ahead and say our Build a Snowman Day is next Friday - next Thursday, and that'll be from 1 to 5 p.m., location, and any additional details here. If you need to link anywhere, you can add a link right here, and of course if you want to add an image, we can do that here as well. So let's go ahead and do our Snow Day image. We add our alternative text. Click save, and then we're going to need to click save again. So, now you can see our new event has populated here on the back-end, so let's go check it out on our live site. Let's refresh a few times. Now you can see, our build a snowman day is here. When we click either on the title or the view all, this is going to be a way for you to get to your news and events. So, let's click on that now. You can see our Build a Snowman day, what/when/where, and then you have the option to copy it to your Google calendar or to your icalendar. Additionally, if you want to, you can go back to the list of events, and you can see everything that is happening this month. Here we just had two events in February. We can also go back to see what we had in January. You have the option to print your calendar. We can print that here. You can also click an entire year, and you also have the option to subscribe. Subscribing to this calendar is as easy as clicking and deciding where you would like to subscribe to. We also have the option of a calendar view, and you can see this right here. It's a nice, clean calendar view with all of your events color-coded and populated here. Now, in addition to posting an event, we're going to go back to our snowman day. You have the option also to disable an event. So, if you have a reoccurring event that you would that you want to hide for a while, that's where you can do it. You can also create a repeating event. So, let's go ahead and do that. That would be for something like weekly PTA meetings, and you'll see it that it automatically populates across all the dates. So, let's say our PTA meetings are every Tuesday from 5 to 6 p.m. We'll click repeating weekly on a Tuesday. Click save. Now, you can see we have our weekly PTA meeting. We will refresh it a couple of times here again. Now you can see our events have gotten much longer because we have those weekly PTA meetings that repeat and never expire. So, when we click on our PTA meeting here, we can go back to our events. You'll see they have populated here, and of course if we do the calendar view, you can now see that the PTA meeting is populating here. Here is our Build a Snowman day that we added before that, so that's a nice way to keep everybody up to date on what's happening at the school.
