Hi everyone! Welcome to our "My Edlio Webinar" for our back to school teacher refresher training. I'm hoping everyone is able to hear me please let me know if you have any issues. We do have a representative of our technical support team available to help answer any questions in the chat as well and we will be recording this webinar and posting it at our help center after. So if you don't get question answered or you have to step out on you can view it later you're also always more than welcome to forward any questions over to our technical support team through a support ticket or giving us a call I will show you how to do does things in our webinar today and then also course you have our client success team and it pretty much anybody here at Edlio ready to answer anything that we can do for you all for back to school. Let's go ahead and get started! What you'll see here is the login page as teachers will see to access your website for back to school so let's go ahead and log in This is the dashboard that teachers, all teachers, will see to make changes to their teacher content and any other content that the website admin has instructed them to edit. But mostly will be discussing today personal pages new content so you'll see here all of them major modules that you want to be able to access. You can also access all of these modules from the hamburger menu on the right[left] hand side There are also some important menus up here that you want to make note of. Your account can get you back to your dashboard can also get you to your profile which is where you can make edits to things like your photo. You can change content like your username your name your position the email address on file all sorts of information like that. You can also, you know, log out if you need to the help drop down menu is also going to be very important because you can access our help center [video connection lost] -- The modules that teachers will be editing and wanting to change for back to school you'll want to make sure that you [plan] your calendar You access that by going either to your hamburger menu and heading over to plan and calendar and you'll see your personal calendar here available for you to add events to. You would do that by going into add event, you can change, you can give it a title giving it a date and time. It can be an all-day event with no time, a location, Any other details there's going to be an option to do the same 'Rich Formatting' and that you'll see in pages. So you can bold and do all of the other formatting options that you see in page content as well. You can link to an outside URL if necessary . . . Attach files in pictures if you need to. This notification here is letting me know that I need to make sure that alternative text is added alternative text is an option that is very important for accessibility standards and make sure that a screen reader for someone with a visual impairment or traumatic brain injury or any other kind of kind of disability that would impair visibility can read the image and repeat it back to them. And this message is telling me that it doesn't have any alternate to text on it so it won't actually allowed this photo to be saved to the calendar event unless I add this text to it. If you're ever wondering why your picture is not showing up in any content that you're adding make sure that you add alternative text to the image first time because sometimes that is the problem. Let's go ahead and add that right here. It can be a very generic simple caption of what's happening in the image. And... We can go ahead and do this and edit it again this way and we'll see what that ends up looking like on when we do our personal page. This teacher has also been given access to the facilities feature. The facilities feature is one that your administrator would be giving you access to. But if you have you can manage your facilities here maybe you're a teacher who uses an auditorium often, a gymnasium, something like that. You can also request reservations in this feature, doesn't look like I have made any reservation, recently I can search to find a new one but this is where you would manage that tool. Now we can go down to 'Announce' maybe I need to send my parents an email welcoming them back this is where I can go ahead and start formatting an email to send to my parents. This is where you want to confirm the settings. I'm also being prompted to take a look at a link up here in case I just need a refresher on some of the layouts. So my info is correct I'm ready to start composing an email to my parents. This is where I can start compiling that. I can add contacts from-- I can add contacts manually. I can also manually upload a CSV file and I can also add from an existing contact list This is where I can create the message again you'll see the same Rich formatting options. You can deliver it now, as soon as you're done composing the text or you can schedule it was a date and time maybe if you wanted to go out before, if you want to prepare a bunch of he's ahead of time you can do it that way. And I've selected a template that's basically a straight forward header with text. And you would go ahead and if you wanted to change the layout you could do so this way. Then you can also always continue to preview the email. This is what it would look like on mobile. This is what it would look like if you did not send the email I can go back and edit the draft at any time. And then again change for example I'd like to maybe add some photos so I can go back and change the template. This section up here would be for text. These sections are for photos and then down here at the bottom is again more text and then again you can also always continue to preview the email there's nothing in there but that would be how you would do that. I'm going to come back to this one later so I might want to just save and exit Also under announce we do have contact lists. So as a teacher I have three contact list that I can utilize to contact anyone that I need to part of my school. I can contact anyone from my personal page anyone who has subscribed to me on my personal teacher page I can also email someone who has subscribed to my classes and then also a custom contact list that I create Myself by creating a new list here. You can add single contacts one by one. You can add in bulk with a CSV template. I will be showing you all how individuals can subscribe to these in just a moment when we look at the front facing view of the teacher page. Now we can go down to pages and start working on my pages for back to school. These are my personal pages This page is where I started adding just some content about myself every teacher and admin is going to have different preferences for how this is set up. But when you do set it up this way it ends up looking like this. So one great way to utilize this is maybe to treat this as kind of like a biography. My other posts and pages are now going to populate in the section menu below. If I were to subscribe to a teacher right here they would be subscribing to my personal page. They can also subscribe to any classes I populate under here which I will be showing you all in a moment. Then that would populate them to that classes contact list as well. Let's say that I wanted to add some more information about myself to this section. So you would go ahead and be adding any content that you would like in pages as if you would be adding pages adding content to pages. Under the normal kind of category page you can add content new content sections I can also add more photos these are the file types that are accepted. Photos from my computer or other supported third-party photo storing services like Dropbox Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive but let's say I have a photo that I want to upload again from my from my computer and again we do have that Alt-text option so I need to give it a caption. Let's say that I have a syllabus that I need to upload. I have a file They do accept any file type but if it's a PDF I can embed it directly inside the this page right here. So let's go ahead and save this. Perhaps I ended up not wanting to --- I wanted to add some information to this page later so maybe I'm not done. Right now this page is published but let's say that I am not ready for all of my parents to see it. I could publish this and then someone would not be able to see it. Right now I think I'm done so I want to go ahead and publish it and save it. My other pages are showing up on here because this is the order that I selected them to be, for this time being let's say I want to drag and drop it and maybe change up the order that they appear. In this section menu over here. To do that, I need to do is just do a drag-and-drop and you can see here the order has been changed. I can also add new pages at any time I can also add feature pages to populate as part of my teacher pages below you can see that I've already added a calendar and my calendar events will show up underneath for parents to select. But I could also add for example a photo album if I wanted you some videos of my classes or just as many blank pages below as I need. Looks like this and you can see here is my event that I have a populated for open house my posts are just super quick kind of like almost like blog entries is a good way to think about it that you can access by toggling over to 'posts'. Again more of rich formatting options right here it will put my personal page. And his posts will also show underneath this first teacher page right here. Now let's go ahead and work on my classes for the school year so we're going to go ahead and go over to the classes feature. You do also always have the option to integrate a Google Classroom so I'll show that and also show it manually so let's start by adding a class. We give a course name The periods are optional but let's say that I teach first period second period and even fourth period. In the department of the 8th grade I'll need to have a term active your website administrator will be the one that creates the terms but I'm in Fall 2019. I can give it a course description. Attach class files you see some examples here I syllabus class bowls if I have a co-teacher I can give myself a co-teacher and then you'll say that I'm here is my great English and I cannot open it up by. Now let's do it as a Google Classroom integration Toyota create a new class and then instead of me and you only typing in all of this information you'll connect your Google Classroom account I've already created this Google class ahead of time which you'll need if you do choose this option let's see and there's my Google classroom and it will populate this way on this page and then when you're ready to be that if a parent needs to view that you can just click this it looks like this website administrator has password protect Syria do you want it would open up in its own window or the Google Classroom to be viewed now let's go ahead and just do a quick overview of some of these other options of content that you can add we can go over to media and then photos and create a photo album if you would like to do that for each semester perhaps also maybe think about cleaning up any old categories but let's say that I'm ready to go ahead and create a photo album Avi and the sponsor of a club that I would like to have a follow-up or so and then you can upload all of these photos I'm just going to use the stock photo earlier once again the alternative text reminding you that I need to go ahead and I. and you can see other photos iPhoto albums listed here you can also continue to add videos if you have a video Maybe something that you'd like to post here you can simply go over to media videos and then upload new video or audio we do have video captioning services accessibility function you can't upload it directly from your computer or embedded if you have maybe an embed code from YouTube meow some other service keep about it directly you'll just upload the file give it a title and then that alternative text you can also list the five if you want that it the same fields are available as well and once again all of that will end populating under whichever order that I would like it to under these teacher pages so say for example I decide that I don't want the photo album to be the last page I can go over to page management and pages and drag and drop the photo album wherever I would like it to go so that is a great way to get started for back to school for teachers on managing their pages and getting everything cleaned up and ready to go for a new semester all right so thank you everyone for joining us today for this webinar we were very grateful for your time today please let us know if you do have further questions at a later time and we will be more than happy to help have a great day thank you
