hi everyone thank you so much for joining us to today's weather is going to be a winter cleaning and wrap up webinar I'm just going to give you some tips and tricks to get ready for your winter break so when you come ombre you'll be getting ready to jump into a beautiful clean your website so as you can see here we're going to be logged in to the at the OC and you've got all of your modules here and then here we got our home page so I'm just going to give you a few tips and tricks of ways that you can clean up so you're ready for the first I'm going to start with calendars so don't forget to update your calendars with any important dates and important information that you may need to send out to your family and your community regarding break any delayed hours anything that might be important. Your individuals might need to be aware of SO2 navigate here calendar we can come here to the main dashboard can always come up with a hamburger menu in the top left-hand corner so we've got all of our modules and now we have our calendars here so what we're going to want to do is log in be sure that we have our dates updated here so to add an important event you choose which calendar it is that you would like for it to go to when you're going to come here and click a diva I'm going to send this to the academic calendar we're going to have our title and then we're going to put any times and locations and whether or not that this is going to repeat so I'm just going to put a quick little holiday right now you can also add a link if you needed to hear and of course if you wanted to add any images you would simply do so here by clicking the choose file and then you would upload the file there before navigating away you're going to want to stay here but don't forget if this is going to be a repeating event you can come here and you can choose when is going to repeat let's go ahead and we're going to have this all day today and it's not going to repeat now you can see the new event that we've added has been populated to our calendar here navigate to our lives site we do a quick refresh here scroll saw are events will be populated here in our events calendar so we have our holiday break that will be redirected to the full event here you're going to also have the option to copy it to your Google I count you could also open it up in a full calendar and of course when you go back it's going to come back to your running list of all of the events that are in the selected calendar so we posted our holiday break notice here in the academic calendar so you're going to see it populated here I will be coming back to the admin sites are you may also want to check just to make sure that any of your upcoming events here have the appropriate dates and times since your community will be relying on your website for those specific events we can also navigate back here we can come to our news and announcements news and alerts and should there be anything important that you want to send out to the community we're going to come and put that here so we're going quick add new and then we're going to tell us where to go we want this to go to our news and announcements and then we need to go ahead and give it a title and its content you can add sources or lakes you can also add an immature we're going to need two Adderall text then we're going to choose when do we want this particular news alert to be posted to be one at now or do we want to schedule it for a later date and then you can also decide if you want this post something that's only temporary license book fair you can schedule when you want it to push out to the news and they can also schedule when it expires but it will be from your homepage on the site it's going to be deleted it will still live here in the CMS I just won't be present on the homepage now in this case we come to click saved you do have the option here to create a pop-up alert or push your social media accounts and now I want to make this a homepage pop-up alert and we want it post right now you're going the news has been saved we have our homepage pop-up alert which lives on the website for 24 hours if you don't want it to last that long you can always edit or turn off here so when we come back to our home page and refresh will see our homepage pop-up alert is the first order of business so anyone visiting your website will have to acknowledge this before they can move on to read the full story close it out while they're navigating your website is not going to keep popping up if they click okay anytime they come back to the homepage this will pop back up and then you can also read the full story so you can see we have our way storm we have our snow picture and of course if you wanted to send that out you could tweet it or you can like it on Facebook if it was something important you can also print out your urine when we come back to home page you'll see this is popped up again and then if I scroll down you'll see right here in our news and announcements section we have our same title or little bus line here an image in the background when I click on the title if then brings me back here to my News-Post if we come back here to the news and alerts back in the CMS you'll see right here it'll show this is we have it set for an alert and then if you want you can go ahead and edited deleted disabled or you can send them out I have already done if this is something that again would say the winter storm passes and you don't need to have that up there you can always actually delete the item whereas simply disabling is going to keep the post still here living in the CMS however it's not going to be visible it will it will be here in the news section reactivate it if it's something that you're going to be doing every year like an announcement for homecoming and it's going to be the same information every year don't want to have to retype all of that simply just say and then when you're ready you can come into our show disabled new section and you'll see we have any of our disabled articles still living in here I wanted to re-enable it simply enable and then it will be back here all right now another thing that is always a good idea to update besides your calendars and any news stories or special events such as the pop-up alert and your calendar on your new one thing that we like to encourage go ahead and clean up your user management section user management tends to be one of the areas that we don't visit quite as often and because individuals come on board each year and then some cool to retire so it's a good idea to go in and do a little bit of housekeeping couple times a year to make sure that all of the people that are in user management are going to be current employee so we're going to come to site manager or we can come to the hamburger menu again either way it gets you to the same spot we're going to come to user management and now you're going to see your running list of individuals we have our website administer and then we also have our list of users and then if you have anyone to sabold they will be down here in the disabled account section so in order to a door delete an individual from user management you will have to be logged in as the super admin the super admin is going to have access to every area in the CMS so they're going to be the ones that will be able to or disable a user here so should we want to we can come and just click on any particular I would say our history teacher no longer works here so we want to go ahead and we want to make sure that they're still not able to login this is also where you going to assign any privileges that the individual may have when they're in the CMS and when they're updating your website so if we wanted to come all the way down to the bottom this is where we can disable an account or we can just lock an individual out or disabling the account that means person no longer shows up and I'm not going to be able to sign in and make any updates disable will click save if you just want to lock someone out there still going to be visible and be stopped Draper Temple they will not be able to login in edit anything well go ahead and click stay go back to all of our users in a place called the way down you'll see the teacher that's no longer here we have their account now should should they choose to come back and you want to reactivate their account you're just going to do the same thing will click on the person we're going to go here and we're going to edit the profile scroll back to the bottom again uncheck quick save and now our history teacher back in our user management section so like I mentioned this is a good opportunity before you leave for break if you know that any of your teachers or administrators are going to be moving on come January now is a great time to and just do a little bit of housekeeping here making sure that everybody is going to be relevant so when people visit your website and January looking for a particular teacher they don't accidentally try to contact someone who's no longer at the school that's going to be our tip for updating user management now I'd like to touch on a few of the new features that we added this year and some of the upcoming items we have for 2020 that we're really excited about so let's go back door dashboard and one other area is that is a good idea to check count before you go on break is going to be your side navigation your site navigation is going to be these items here at the top of your website how we navigate throughout the website and what are living here in each of these titles items another word Insight navigation management and then side navigation will see all of the pages that we have underneath each site navigation heading and what lives underneath it so let's stay under about we don't want this item contest page anymore testing is over we don't need to have that so we can come in here we can click we can also adjust where this is going or we can all together delete it so we're going to we're going to delete that and now you can see it's no longer in our list but before we navigate away we want to make sure that we save those changes otherwise that page is still going to be in the side navigation about click additionally if you wanted to move some things around you're going to go ahead and quit these six little ducks on the left hand side and dragon drop the item into the order that you prefer and remember any time you just anything you're going to need go ahead and click save so everything is saved and then when we do our refresh here Paige is no longer there and we moved our staff directory up to the top rather than having it in the second place so you'll see that some of these drop down items are significantly longer than others so it's always a good idea to make sure that that the information in there is the most current information the people are not getting any outdated info with the new school year that's coming up when we come back to our dashboard going to come over here to peaches I just was another area that's also a great time right before you leave for break just to clean up any of that content that's no longer relevant right here. Emily click in to those categories you're going to see all of the sections that lives within that category now one of the newest features that we added this year little icon right here when you hover over it it's going to show you that this particular section is actually living in your sight navigation same with this guy right here you're also going to see within the cell how many pages are in that particular section as you can see both of these are linked in the site navigation Transportation has two pages within that section are welcome S4 we go ahead and click on the hierarchy is going to open up what we have here it's going to be all four of the pages that are within this wealth section that lives in the miscellaneous category now let's say I don't want to have some of these Pages here but I do want to keep our welcome page because that's what's telling people giving us the information to the circular section would just like to fight navigation item when we click the three dots here you can edit you can view we can add it directly to site navigation rather than having to navigate back and forth and have multiple tabs open one from pages and one from site navigation now we can just add it directly to the site navigation we can unpublished delete move copy at set so let's go ahead and now we just have our three let's go ahead and publish our photo album so now we've up to update this is everything that we want it to look like before we go anywhere you can also check it out by clicking on are publicly here and this is going to open up that particular section booby navigate back we're coming back to our miscellaneous action and again fees are going to be all of those sections within that miscellaneous category in here and eat some of the things out make sure that everything is up to date so especially something like he's going to want to the new school year again this means that it is a section in your sign navigation but when we come through here we can keep scrolling we're going to see if we have our transportation and it is truly in our site navigation just as this little guy was telling now when we come back to our admin side of things another new thing we've added recently is going to be in our Pages section we now have edible content boxes let's go ahead and add a new page what's a d'arce age I can hear can we title our page then we're going to go ahead and add her content and you'll see right here this new option size collapsible so if you want to have a collapsible content box will go ahead and check mark that and it'll ask you for a title here and then when we have I don't know title Fiat or content here we're going to go ahead and click save we can add another collapse mailbox will a door text you and what's quick save now we can come click the public link and you'll see we don't see any of that content but you will see the title and then this little arrow when you click on that it's going to bring all of the information and that we have living in those classical concert boxes so this is an excellent way to organize if you have a long list of items and you don't want your website visitors have to scroll down several Pages this is an excellent way to shorten your page but still have all of that important information within the particular section and page that you've created us and it's been one of our super popular features as well as that little I just like Navigation icon that I showed you earlier another update that we've made recently is going to be open settings now under General you have the option to do a little bit more give me a little bit more customization so you can having you can update your school name and also update the contact information here so if you if your school name changes you can come in here and update that if your address is incorrect you can update your address here and then you also have any emails that are going to be in the contact form you would add that here we also have our communication tools we have are Voice and text alerts here we have apple Arts if you subscribe to the school is out and we also have the email Center and one exciting thing that we have coming up in 2020 is an enhancement to all of our communication schools we're going to be developing out some items making sure that everything is nice and shiny and new for you coming in the statements that will definitely be doing a webinar so this is going to be here dashboard again once again and then did you ever need anything you can simply go to our house we're going to go ahead and click the contact edlio support here should you need to go ahead and post a tech support case should you have any problems otherwise you can find our link here help center this is going to give give you the area to sign up for future webinars any past webinars that we've done will be here should you a little refresher on any of the other modules in the CMS we've got them all listed alphabetically for you here there's also going to be some tips and tricks of course when it comes to back-to-school time this is always going to be here whether it's the beginning of the school year or brand new semester going to be some of the more popular tips and tricks that you may have forgotten while you were if I come over here to troubleshoot this is going to give you some of the more readily use areas I forgot my password I don't remember my username and of course you've always awesome tech support team here you can submit a support case and of course should you have any other questions feel
