Hi my name is Divya, and I will be hosting today's Edlio Engage Webinar. We also have our tech support specialist, Sergio, in the web chat to answer any questions you have during this webinar. As you can see on my screen, Edlio Engage is our family engagement and communication tool platform. It's available via desktop and mobile app. Today we'll be going over the desktop version and Edlio Engage help schools districts improve, sustain, and measure family engagement so we know right now is a hectic time with implementing online school learning so if you're hesitant about introducing another product to your teachers and staff to learn, don't worry it's one of our easiest to use tools. In fact, if you use Facebook and email you already know how to use Edlio Engage and what's really great about it is it brings all the capabilities of the social media apps together but it's more secure, more compliant, and its customized for school use. So this is truly the last tool you need to introduce to your team. It's also communication at a higher level because no other tool measures the response level of your communication so this means you can see how parents and your community are interacting with the information you're posting on Edlio Engage, and I'll be going into that a little bit further as we move along. Before I get started on the modules that will be talking about here, I want to go into our profile section. Now I am locked in as a teacher that would be using Edlio Engage. Let's go to my profile and I want to go over one of the best features of Edlio Engage which is the language feature. We have 100 + languages available, so what this does is when you login to Edlio Engage, you'll choose your primary language. For me, it's going to be English so I'm going to write and read all my messages in English, but if I have a parent in my class whose primary language let's say is Spanish and they choose Spanish in this drop-down, whatever messages I post or write to them will automatically translate into Spanish when they receive it from me or when they're reading it on Edlio Engage's conversations module. You'll also see here that there are communication options so you'll have a daily summary of the Edlio Engage activity that goes on so you're not getting multiple notifications in a day and you can also opt to allow text messages to be sent to your phone or phone messages sent to your phone. You can opt in and out of mobile push notifications now the preferences are going to stay the same for each users it might be a little bit different for parents because they won't have the ability to get notifications for RSVPs or sign-ups because they be creating classroom events. Let's go to the conversations module so now as you can see this is very similar to Facebook. You're posting information, It's "one-to-many" and the way you would create a post, you already know how to do this because of Facebook, is to click here, and we're going to create a post so I want to create a post about online teaching, and when you type in your message here, you can actually link your Edlio school website to you post, for example if I wanted to type in instructions for tonight's homework, and I have additional instructions included on my school website, I can go to my school website, which is going to be Edlio College Prep. I'm going to include this link or whatever page I have it included here and make this a hyperlink. I'm going to click "OK" and now I have one option that I can choose from here: I can add a photo, add a video, add a file, so that could be additional instructions about homework or syllabus or anything like that. I can add a text message so it will be sent as a text message, and I can also add a poll. Now once I choose an option it won't let me choose any other option. I'm going to choose: "Add a photo" So now that I've chosen photo, it's not going to let me choose anything else. Now I'm going to go down here and choose who I want to share this message with. I can either share it with my fourth grade class and that would be my parents and my students, or I can choose to share it with everyone at my school, Edlio Elementary. I'm going to go ahead and choose to share it with my parents and my students because I want them to see instructions, so go ahead and click on that and you'll see here it's been selected. I also have the option to disable comments if I don't want comments included for a specific post. Not all posts are going to require comments, so I can choose to do that and then I can schedule the post to either go out immediately by clicking on this here or I can choose to post it for another day and another time I'm going to go ahead and click, "Post" here so you can see what it looks like, and here you can see my post, "Please review instructions for tonight's homework" with our picture and then here other users will have the option to comment, like, pin, share, or mute notifications. Do you remember earlier where I talked about this is communication at a higher level and you can actually measure the response level? That can be done through the Family Efficacy Score or FES. This is going to measure how successful your post was at engaging the targeted audience. So, the more likes that you get the more comments that you get more people pin your post or share it, the higher your score is going to go up, and that way you can see oh when I include videos or include files or include pictures my score tends to go up rather than when I just send links or just a straight text post, so that you as the user to see what kind of posts your targeted audience really responds to and really pays attention to and again you can modify your posts as you go and keep using Edlio Engage so you're sure that they're receiving that information, they're engaging with their students, and they're continuously staying informed. Now you also have one more option here in the conversations module to filter your messages. You'll see here we have the groups. So when I click on Edlio Elementary, this is going to be all messages that are happening in my organization where I teach and then I also have specific groups, so this is my fourth grade class. If I have another group that I want to create so for example I am also choir director I would hit on "Add Group" here, "Create a Group" and I'm going to call this "Other" or whatever I feel like the group is, hit "Next". I'm going to call this "Choir". Hit "Done" Add parents, add students, and then go back to my conversations module, and then you'll see the choir group is here when I select this this will show all the post related to my choir group. Now, another thing that is really great is I can also add my personal family to a group filter, so if I have a daughter that's attending a school where I don't teach and her teacher is also using Edlio Engage, I can actually add that to this group filter here. I'm going to go ahead and add my family. I'm going to add the email of my spouse or caregiver, [typing] [typing] Now it's going to ask me to add the name of my children. [typing] [typing] [typing] [typing] [clicking] and then here it's going to show me how this is set up, and when we go back, I click on my daughter's name here I'm going to see all the posts that her teacher will post in Edlio Engage about the specific classroom posts. And if you want to show, look at specific posts that are pinned or files or photos you can do that here as well, this is a little bit of a shortcut again to filter your messages if you're looking for a specific messages, and also you have shortcuts here if you want to just upload photos or videos or files or just send a text message. There are different ways to filter your messages and to create messages. So now I'm going to skip the calendar module. We'll come back to this I want to go to our inbox module, which is again something that's very easy to use. if you have used email before and I'm sure all of you use email, so again this is going to be your inbox. This is one-to-one messaging which is different from the conversations module where you're posting a message that's going to many groups. This could be if you're sending a message to a specific parent, so it's one-to-one messaging it's private and secure so you'll have the option to compose a message, delete any message, mark as read, unread,  toggle all this means you're selecting all your messages so again just a reminder when you compose a message, it's going to compose it based on the primary language you've chosen. And I'm going to add a message here and I can also add attachments and I can hit send again if the parents' primary language is Spanish, Japanese, or Hindi, this is automatically going to translate to that language that they've chosen, and when they write back to me and I read it in my inbox, it's going to translate into English for me. You have the drafts as well so any drafts that I'm working on are going to be saved here Invitations is if I have been invited to a group, so for example in the conversations module when I created that "Choir" group, I can add a co-director to that, so Daniel Benson has invited me to join "Media Studies" so I can either "Accept" or "Decline" that here and then we also have our "Sent" messages so you'll see all of the "Sent" messages that I've sent so far and I'll have the option to even compose from sent messages so I don't have to go back into "Inbox". So, that is the Inbox module. Now let's go into the Calendar module. So I know a lot of you use your Edlio calendar in your CMS, your Edlio website. Think of your Edlio Engage calendar as a classroom calendar for classroom events only so when you click on the Calendar module, it's going to automatically take you to the "Week" default view but you can also go to "Day" and "Month" and you can also "Subscribe" you Edlio Engage calendar to Google, iCal, or Outlook by clicking here or copying the URL below. You cannot; however, add an external calendar into Edlio Engage so what you'll do when you go into calendar is you will either create an event by clicking here or clicking here. Let's go here I'm going to call this event "Saint Patrick's Day Party" and again I can choose who I want to share this with. I want to share it with my fourth grade class, again, Parents and Students, and I'm going to choose when this is going to happen, and if it's an all-day event, if it repeats, where it's going to take place, and I can notify recipients which is really great and helps them know when events are coming up, require an RSVP, and, this is one of my favorite features here, require a sign-up for tasks. So, for example, I'm having a Saint Patrick's Day party, and I want green plates, and I need 10 of them, so I'm going to add that as a task for someone to bring in and I also need green napkins and let's say I need 10 of those. I'm going to add those as tasks and I can also select to have reminders go up two days in advance 2 hours in advance if I want to do it and I can also choose a photo to be included, and I can also add an event description. Okay, the event has been created. Let's go back to our conversations module and you can also see that it's posting here and, as you can see, it has an RSVP required and when parents go in, they can actually click on this and they can actually sign up for events, I'm sorry sign up for tasks, so, for example, if a parent sees this and they didn't click on "Sign Up" for this and they come up to me in the classroom the next day and they say, "I completely forgot to bring or sign up for green plates that I will definitely do that I just haven't had a chance to log into my Edlio Engage yet, that's not a problem. I, as the teacher or owner of this event, can go into Edlio Engage, click on "Manage Sign Ups" and actually manually assign it to that parent instead of them having to go into Edlio Engage, having to do that or maybe forgetting to do that. So that really helps teachers stay organized with tasks, and things like. You also see that some tasks are in pink. There is a color coding based on this, so green means that you as a user have volunteered for a task at this event. Pink means that the event has volunteered, but you as the user have not signed up. Dark gray means all the volunteer slots are filled, and light gray means that there are no volunteers needed So you can see when you go back Calendar it also shows up here as well as in the Conversations module, and it's pink right now because I as a teacher have not signed up for tasks even though I've assigned out tasks, so that's the Calendar module. Let's go to My Network. So My Network is you as the individual user and everyone who is associated with you the right now it's showing that I'm associated to my children and any caregivers that I've also included to be part of them. we can also see that in the Choir, I am the administrator. I'll see any parents I've invited. If I want invite a parent I'll click on this here, and it'll send invitations via email if I want to invite any students, I can do that as well and same thing for all of my groups here at Edlio Elementary, you'll see all of the administrators that are included. Everybody who's in my fourth grade class and any other groups that I've created. When I click on the 4th grade class here that I'm teaching, you'll see that I am the administrator because I've created that classroom. It's going to include the principal as well. Principals are going to be included in all classes and then you'll see here that there are six parents in my classroom and their students are right underneath, italicized so I know which parent is associated with which student, and then again when I invite students students they'll be included here as well That is My Network. Directory is just like a paper staff directory. It's layered by each group, so it's layered by Family, here, and my Groups which again is: Choir, 4th Grade Class, and my Organization, and when I click on Edlio Elementary here it's going to show me who are all the admins or the users at my school and again it's grouped. You'll see all of the teachers in First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade, Fourth Grade, which includes myself, and Fifth Grade. And, if I want to send a message to any admins or any other teachers, I can do that as well by clicking on them and hitting Send a Message here. Anyone you add in the "TO" field is going to be "BCC'd" so that keeps it secure some schools can choose to have this turned off by default so that parents cannot view it but teachers can but again that's up to you as a school and how you want to do that so just let your Client Success Specialist know. So that is the conclusion for this webinar and the basics for Edlio Engage. Again this is a very easy-to-use tool and it really helps you stay connected with your community especially at a time when we can't be face-to-face and we don't have that interaction and it's beneficial to teachers, parents, and school admins because it's so easy and efficient and you have that automatic language tool translator. Training is even easier you can get trained in 30 minutes or less. We have self-help guides and short videos that you can watch. School implementation takes only 72 hours so users can start using Edlio Engage as soon as they receive their login information.
