Hello everyone and thank you so much for joining me today it looks like we're at at 10:30 we'll just give everyone else maybe just 30 more seconds to a minute to log on and we will be getting very shortly Thank you so much for your patience. [Silence] Let's go ahead and begin Again as I mentioned I want to thank everyone for joining me today during this strongly challenging time for some of us. My name is Nicole Legaux and I am your sales executive that will be presenting to you ADA compliant websites for NYC schools. The first thing I would like to do is to go over the agenda so you can see what to expect out of our time today. The first thing we will review is how you can submit your questions throughout the presentation using this platform. The second part will be to look at some of the NYC public school websites that we've done out there in your region. Give you a little introduction about Edlio and little bit about our background. Love to show you some of our built-in tools that are included in your content management system. And a hands-on look again it at some of our customers. And last but not least, we will take the time to address any of the questions that you submitted throughout the presentation. When you are in Zoom on your toolbar you should see a Q&A button. If you click on that Q&A button, you can submit your questions throughout the presentation today because we're a little limited. I'd just ask that we submit those questions in there and towards the end of the presentation, I will answer all of the questions that were submitted and if I don't by chance have the answer to your question today, I'll be happy to follow up with you via email shortly after the webinar. So a little bit about Edlio, I promise I'm going to make this very brief and not bore you to death because I'm sure the fun part is really going into the back end of the platform. Our platform makes it extremely easy for educators to update their website and the content management system. Our platform is only geared to K-12 schools. We do not let any other entity use our platform because it is not made for them. We power over 15,000 schools and district websites around the world. We actually kind of got our start in New York and one of our first customers was New Dorp High School out there in Staten Island so we've been around for about 19 years. Little bit about our websites, our websites are beautifully designed. The last time I looked in our gallery of designs there was about 20 designs, actually 30 designs in there that you would be able to about 20 to 30 designs that you can look at and choose from once you choose the design we will archive that design so no other school or district can have that design moving forward. We kind of take the hard work from you. You can look at the design, see what vision meets the brand for your school and choose that one and then we will train you on how to update your website in real time. Our websites are ADA accessible and compliant which is the primary reason why you guys are here. I did attend the summit in NYC to kick off this mandate by NY DOE so just know our websites are built from the ground up with ADA in mind. Our websites are also responsive and mobile-friendly the reason why that's important because they say nowadays about 75% or more of your school community when they're bringing up your website nowadays are bringing up by a cell phone or mobile device compared to a desktop so be rest assured the way your website looks like on my desktop will pretty much be exactly what it looks like on a cell phone, so it does adapt to all screen sizes. We also have ongoing support for your website. So within the the back end of your content management system not only will you have a toll-free number, where you can reach out to our support team, but we also have a ticketing system built into the platform for you to reach out to our support team for any assistance with your website needs and that's not just for the web admins. Within our content management system each of your teachers have their own teacher page or website and we also will train them on how to update their website or their teacher pages, how to add homework and assignments which is very important now as we're in this kind of remote and virtual learning situation now. So your teachers can reach out to us 10 times a day if they can't find what they need within our Help Center. We give unlimited ongoing support to any of your staff members. So it takes the troubleshooting with the website off of the principal and admins, let us take care of your tech support needs, ok? A little bit about digital acessibility in NY schools and why you're here. They say about 20% of students in New York are identified with having some type of disability. These students may use a system tool like screen readers or they may need Google translations to be able to read a language outside of maybe English. And NYC is now requiring that all of the school websites are digitally accessible. In 2016, The NYC Department of Education reached an agreement with the United States Department of Education which basically said that by the end of December basically the end of this year, December 31st, all NYC websites must be ADA accessible. By the end of this year. As I mentioned earlier I did attend the ADA Summit in November out there in New York Which kind of kicked off this mandate and they invited all of the parent coordinators and webmasters to attend this conference. They brought in vendors like myself to help with this task. In the fall, you should have received a grade on your website letting you know how accessible your websites are now and then you will have until June of this year so pretty much next month of improving. score that you received in the fall. So if you haven't made any improvements on trying to improve your ADA accessibility score with the DOE that's kind of what we're here for. You also should have appointed a webmaster for each of your schools to help with this task. Let's just talk about some of our built-in accessibility. Our websites are designed and coded as I mentioned earlier with a WCAG 2.1 Level AA in mind. There's different levels with WCAG With that being said we create all of our websites to be designed with sufficient color contrast. We also ensure users can navigate by keyboard and access the skip to main content link. We also review all of our page structure and links to make sure that they are screen reader friendly before the website goes live. Some of our built-in tools that we have included in our content management system is making it mandatory for all of the images that you upload to our platform making it mandatory that you put an alt-text on each of those images before you upload it. Also within an hour of you uploading your videos closed captioning will automatically be added to your video within an hour of you uploading those videos to our content management system. You do not have to upload your videos to YouTube or Vimeo. We have a video player embedded  in our content management system where you can add as many websites as, I'm sorry as many videos as  you like to your website You also can embed Facebook and Vimeo videos on our website as well if you like. We also have a page preview option for the WAVE accessibility checker. I do know in some of the professional development webinars you guys are in,  you should have heard about WAVE, it's a free Google Chrome extension that any of us can download. I downloaded it and it allows me to scan any website that's out there. So before I reach out to a school, it identifies how ADA accessible are their websites. So not only can I scan the homepage, but within our content management system we also have the WAVE embedded in our platform so you can scan your teacher pages or any page that you're creating before you actually publish it to ensure that it is ADA accessible and I'll show you that a little bit when we go into the back end So this is just a success story that we have from one of our districts. They were actually given a letter by the OCR they had to make their district website ADA accessible. Once they received an audit letting them know all of the areas that needed to be addressed on their website they brought that ADA audit to us and we helped them remove all the ADA barriers that were on their website So they were able to go back to OCR and let them know all the improvements that we helped them regarding ADA accessibility and it did not go to the next level regarding the lawsuit that could have potentially happened because their website was not ADA accessible. So just a little success story there from Isle of Wight County Schools. In addition to our ADA accessible platform, we also have icing on the cake, an add-on that you add which is called AudioEye. AudioEye, not only fixes all of the issues that you have, ADA issues or areas that you have on your website, but you can actually get a Remediation Report, a weekly that let you know all of the errors that they've automatically fixed, probably without you even knowing but they also have a dedicated Help Desk, that can help any of your website video visitors if they're on your website and they will be able to reach out to AudioEye to gain access to any information that might be on your website that's not accessible. There's also a toolbar that's on AudioEye, and let me just bring that up real quick. If we go to I just got a notice that I've been signed out I'm so sorry I'm not sure what just happened. My presentation just left. Sorry! Sorry about that, that's never happened before! But just to kind of talk about AudioEye and this is the toolbar, the AudioEye toolbar that we have on the Edlio.com website, and notice how I can make the text bigger if I want to because maybe my vision is a little bit different than others so I can change the vision on here. I also can have a screen player by pressing this play button. The screen reader will read to me where I am on the website. I can address the contrast. So, this is an add-on again that you can add onto your platform at anytime. It is not mandatory for you to have that for your website to be ADA accessible, it's just an add-on, okay. Our websites already built with ADA accessibility in mind, but if you just want that kind of rest assurance and you don't want to have to fix the issues that are on your website, AudioEye can do that for you. NY DOE wanted me to make sure I elaborated the fact that AudioEye has to be purchased as an add-on. It cannot be purchased as a stand-alone product. It has to be added with an Edlio ADA-friendly website. Let's just go to the next part. So let's go ahead and jump in. We have about 15 minutes and I do want to take you into the back-end; this is the the juicy part of the presentation. Let's go ahead and log in into the platform so you can see exactly what we have to offer to you. So I'm going to go ahead and get out of this presentation and before I jump in I just want to show you these are all all of the NYC school that we currently power within NYC. We are an approved vendor with the Department of Ed and at the end of my presentation I included our vendor number so you can write that down. the column B is the district that all of these schools are in so just be rest assured, purchase orders with the DOE is definitely fine when it comes to Edlio. I do have a couple of customers that I would love to show you just kind of show you some of the some of the features that we have embedded into our platform. So this is PS 229, this is another New York school. notice how they have also a photo shuffle here that goes through some of their images. They're thanking the First Responders because if you know everything that's going on with COVID, but notice how on their website like this website into 100 + different language which is extremely important especially out there in New York. I know one of my schools, PS 44, they have to adjust adapt to 30 different languages at one school. So if I wanted to change the website to Spanish, I change it to Spanish and the entire website will change to Spanish. I did hear recently that Google may be getting away from this Google translate option here, but anyone can go to any website, right-click on the website, and we should be able to translate the website here using the the browser translation feature you have within Google Chrome. But for right now a lot of our schools do have the drop-down option to be able to translate the website into 100 + different languages that also includes forms. We have unlimited forms that you can add on to your website as well. If I click on "Sign Up For Alerts" for this school notice how they have a form built here on their website. So if you can do a Google form you can absolutely build a form with your content management system via Edlio. All of your responses on your forms will also be recorded in your content management system so all of your responses, if you have a thousand responses to these forms, the thousand answer the roll up into the back end of your content management system and you can even export those responses into Excel if you wanted to, but just notice how your forms can also be translated into 100+ different languages. The DOE did say that they wanted they would love for you guys to try to get away from PDFs and flyers because PDF and flyers cannot be translated. The more the schools can get in the habit of putting the content on their website the more accessible their content will be to everyone that speaks different languages and not just those that speak English if that makes sense. So that's just a little bit about PS 229. I'm just going to scroll through a little a little bit just so you can kind of see here's our news and announcements and you see we can click on "Remote-Learning" and see the the page that they've dedicated just about remote learning, so we can see their new grading policy for remote learning, I can see the different parent workshops, if you need a new device maybe a computer, it just tells you what you can get a device for remote-learning now. So this is just their page they have on their website that's totally dedicated to remote-learning. This school is a New York school and I just wanted you to notice how they also have the ability to translate here, but if I go to the video that they've uploaded on their website, this is the video that they have I'm just going to I'm going to stop the sound so it doesn't drown out my voice, but I noticed how they have this video that they created. You will be able to add unlimited videos to our website as well and if I go to when they're actually speaking in the video, notice how closed-captioning is automatically added on your videos within an hour of you uploading your videos to our content management system, so you will not have to worry about closed captioning on your videos. It's automatically done for you. You will have the ability of editing your closed-captioning, as well, because it's done via artificial intelligence. We know, sometimes it's probably not captured 100% of the time, so you will have the ability of editing this. So there is someone that is hard of hearing or deaf on your website, at least they can read along with what your video is trying to say. Right now virtual learning again is important. If any of your teachers are kind of doing their own lectures, they also can take themselves, upload their lectures on our teacher pages and that closed-captioning will automatically be there for their lectures. You will also have the video gallery so this is kind of a video gallery, this is not a New York school this is a school in Chicago, but just notice how for every video that you have uploaded, it also comes the transcript. So, again, if I am deaf hard of hearing, I can at least read along with what the entire video is saying. I have entire transcript of what was said on this video, as well. So another ADA accessibility feature we have embedded on your platform. This is PS 29, and this is the last website I show you before we kind of login into the back-end, and show you how to do updates, but notice how I'm PS 29 they have this pop-up feature on the website. All of our websites come with a pop-up feature where you can add an alert for any news story that you create. Right now PS 29 is highlighting their teacher appreciation week that a lot of the schools and even us here at Edlio has done our little project for teacher appreciation week, and they're just letting the parents know exactly what they're doing this week to kind of show teachers how much we are appreciative of them. We were before but I think even parents like me that are trying to work from home and you know do homework with our children, I've grown so much more appreciation for teachers now that I'm kind of in their shoes, so thank you teachers. So again, I'm not going to bore you! Our calendar does sync with Google Calendar and Office 365 here so you will not have to worry about adding calendar events just know we can integrate those two calendars if you like. Then they just have their announcements here as well. So you will be able to upload PDFs if you like to your news and announcements, and, you know, they have new stories on here about Wi-Fi if you're in need of Wi-Fi or any remote-learning assistance form. So that's PS 29. Let's go ahead and jump into the back-end of the platform. Actually I do want to show you our teacher pages. I can't forget this part this is another school that we power as well but if I click on Staff Directory, here this is kind of also what your staff directory can look like with Edlio. Notice how the staff directory is broken up by category, grade level, if I go to one of my favorite teachers, Diana here, this is what Diana's teacher page looks like. So again, we know that with virtual learning and remote-learning being whatever teachers have to do now to teach their kids, is her teacher page and this teacher is letting the parent know exactly what their focused on for the week. So, right now we're in week 7 of them going remote So this is everything that the students are focused on for the week, and it just goes on back to her previous weeks. The best part about our teacher pages is the ability parents to subscribe to the teacher pages. So if any of your teachers send out a homework assignment or a major announcement, anytime they send out this teacher page, that parent will receive an email at the end of the day letting them know what has been added to the teacher page, so it's kind of like a free communication tool for your teachers Again, as I mentioned earlier, we'll train all of your teachers for you. You don't have to worry about training your teachers on how to add content to the website. Our teacher pages also integrate with Google Classroom, so notice how this one if I click on the Ancient Histories Period I, I can go to that Ancient Histories Period 1, open Google Classroom for this class, and I can see all of the content that's in that Google Classroom. A lot of schools are using Google Classroom right now So, I'm going to go in and log in to our platform here. This is if you did choose to go with Edlio, this is how you would login. If you decide to have a demo with edlio after our presentation, what's great about us is that we will let you test drive our entire platform, so once I have a demo with you, I will give you my username and password that you see here, and it will allow you to update this fictitious website that, not only am I going to do my demo on today, but you'll also be able to play around on this website as well. Let me just click "Refresh" on this on this High School website. In this live demo, what I'm going to show you how to do is how to update the most frequent part of your website, which is your News & Announcement Section, here. This is where you can highlight any announcements that you have for the week. So just how PS. 29, how on their website they have these different announcements, I'm going to show you we can easily add a News Story to this announcement here. I'm going to click on "Sign In" and, because I want to update the news section of my website and I want to make an announcement on my website I'm going to click "Announce" and, again, I want to update the "News" section of my website, so I'm going to click "News & Alerts" So in this hypothetical scenario I'm going to click on "Add News" because I want to add a new News Story to my website, and because we have graduation happening right now maybe not in person because we're kind of still at stay-at-home orders for some states but let's just pretend that I'm making an announcement about graduation so my for this graduation is going to be "It's Time to Celebrate the Graduating Class of 2020!" I do pray for all of those students because I am so sad that you know when you're working so hard and looking forward to prom and to everything it's kind of taken from you, you know, due to what's going on. So this is our subject header here. Your is going to be about one to two sentences that highlight entire new story is about it we'll just say Click the news story for more important details, ok so that's our short summary and then our content, the date of the graduation, the location of the graduation we wouldn't have a location now, but maybe we would want to add live stream to there because maybe we want to live stream the graduation, any information about live streaming and so forth this is all of the information about the graduation I'm going to add that right here in the content session. If I had a flier that have this information and I didn't want to type it out I can just link it to a PDF and I can just drag and drop any fliers that have information about this graduation but for right now I'm not adding a PDF I'm just going to add my content here and then I want to add an image to this new story so I'm just going to drag and drop this image I have on my desktop. I also can upload from Dropbox to Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive if I wanted to. I'm just going to drag and drop that image there. Now it's missing an "Alt Text". So, notice how the "save" button is greyed out it will not allow me to add this news story to my website because it's missing an "Alt Text" if you scanned any of your websites out there before you made the changes you might have noticed a lot of your errors are because your images are missing a description on there. This alt text if I describe this picture, so we'll just say, "grads throwing hats in the air at graduation" if there's someone blind or visually impaired on our website, their screen-reader will read to them what this image is trying to portray so now they're not left out of the visuals that are on your website and now they're included in the content that's on your website. If I have some free time in a Saturday or Sunday I can do my news stories and I can say I don't want this to post to my website until Friday at noon or Thursday at midnight on the flipside, I also can say when should this news story expire from my website? If this is about a graduation happening on May 31st so I can say, I want this news story to expire from my website on May 31st at midnight, so now I don't have to remind myself to remove this information from my website once the date or deadline is over. So if there's any webmasters on this line, we might have heard a "hooray" or "that's awesome" because it does save a lot of time in the long run. I'm going to quick save here and it's going to take me to the the the next page that's going to make my job even more easier so now it's letting me know that it's saved it. If I wanted to push this news story straight out to my social media, I can click on my social media manager and push this new story out to as many Twitter and Facebook accounts is I want to, okay. Once I put what social media account I want to push it out to I click "Post Now" so now my news story has not only been updated on my website but it also has been pushed out to four different social media platforms, again I might have heard a couple of "hoorah's" or "are you serious"? Yes, we're serious. It saves a lot of time in the long run with that social media manager. And I'm also going to make this a Homepage Pop-Up Alert so you can see how we can create Homepage Pop-Up Alerts on our website. So, I'm done with me news story, notice how new story my new news story is going to be added to the News section and I'm going to get the pop up message So, see this is a pop-up message that I just created, "Its time to celebrate the graduating class of 2020" Remember, remote-learning is important so if you did have a remote learning page you could do a pop-up saying "Here's our Remote-Learning Page" and everyone that goes to your site they have to click "okay I see this message" before they go on to the rest of the website and here is the news story with my image, and if I click on the actual news story here's everything that was in that news story. If I wanted to change the photo shuffle that's here I'm going to say "Don't Show this Again" so it doesn't keep popping up If I wanted to change the photo shuffle here that's on my website, I go into the back end of my platform and click "Media". Media is where all of your photos, videos, and shuffles are, so I'm going to click on Shuffles and I want to update the photo shuffle that's on my homepage, I'm clicking on home page and notice, these are all of the photos that are on my photo shuffle here. If I wanted to remove this gentleman with chalk on his face I'm going to click the trash button and click "Delete". If I want to add a new image to my website, again I can upload from Dropbox, Google Drive, or I can simply drag-and-drop any image that I have on my computer and just going to drag and drop this beautiful girl here. Once it is uploading, again it's screaming at me that this image is missing a Alt Text. This image will not be added to my photo shuffle without an Alt Text for ADA accessibility so I have to add an Alt Text to this image I'm going to click on "Alt"and I'm going to describe it. I'm just going to say "Jane Smith in the first grade with different color eyes beautiful eyes, ok so that is the description that hides behind something that adds on the beginning or the front of the picture, a caption on the front-end, I can just say "Jane Smith in First Grade" quick Save. So, now when I go to my photo shuffle, notice how Jane Smith is not here if I click refresh, Jane Smith is there on our photo shuffle. Again just showing you how our ADA accessible features are embedded for your photos and videos. I showed you how to update the the photo shuffle, how to update the News & Announcements, and, again you can have videos on your website if did have a video that had sound, your sound would be right here and I can quickly change out that video. If you are a customer with us and maybe you were a customer with us before ADA was even a topic, you want to make sure when you go into your platform if you go into Site Management and Settings you want to always make sure that when you click on Accessibility this tab is clicked and it says "Enable ADA settings". That will ensure that it makes it mandatory to upload images with Alt Texts and that your photo shuffle makes it mandatory to have Alt Text and everything that's mentioned here, so if you are customer you may have realized that it wasn't making it mandatory for you to add those Alt Texts to your images probably because this box was not checked, so just make sure you check that if you're already a customer, and I did mention in our platform how we can scan any of our Pages for ADA accessibility, so if I went to my personal page here so you can kind of see the back end of my teacher page, we do have "Wave". If I go to "Unpublish" here and click on "Save Draft", if I wanted to kind of scan this website for ADA accessibility, I can click on Wave here, and Wave will scan my teacher page to let me know if I have any errors on there before I publish it. You can scan every page just to make sure that it is ADA accessible before you publish it to your website, so that's pretty much the hands-on- deck look at the back end of our platform, again there's so much more that I would love to show you because I didn't review our free newsletter creator, our teacher pages how to create forms in our platform, there so much that I would love to review outside of ADA accessibility because this is only meant to be about ADA accessibility, but I would love to schedule a demo with you all.
