Okay, as we start at this slide I just want to show you how Engage is another product that makes things easier for you. The process of setting up Engage for your teachers and staff is as simple as clicking 'send' on an email, the streamlined process will speed up any time that was lost in the process of the transition to remote learning that we've all been experiencing because it provides a centralized location for gathering together all of us who've been scattered. The timing is perfect for you to try Edlio Engage. Supporting me today is Sergio Flores who will be available to answer any questions you might have for him in the chat window. My name is Misty Rosenberg I'm a Client Success Specialist. I apologize for the sound issues at the beginning and we will just jump right in. A few words about how Engage is different from other apps your teachers might be using. The goal for Edlio Engage is parent engagement. That is our goal. We find a way to reach into the home environment with an easy-to-use feed that keeps parents in the loop about everything that happens and we also go a step further than that. Engagement is not just a one-way notification, for example "Class will be on Monday at 9." "Here's the zoom link." "The essay is due by 3 today". These are often notifications that I used to send out as a teacher and these are very important. "First day of school September 6th" "Summer school starts June 15th" But, Engage goes a step further. We create a back and forth between teachers and parents regarding the content and activities of the students in their care so parents and teachers are engaged in a partnership. There is definitely a venue for back and forth between the parent and the teacher. Why do parents love engage so much because they are not just, they're no longer toggling between anywhere from 9 to 12 different apps per kid, being pulled so many different directions leads to frustration of parents and disengagement. Students in the same district in different classes through Edlio Engage will all be tied into the same app, for example, an 11th grader, a 6th grader, and a 3rd grader will have their class activities in the same feed. This provides an opportunity to solidify learning because when the parent is able to track what's going on in the classroom, the student rises to the occasion. The teacher feels that they're not doing everything alone. Everyone is being held accountable for the learning process, including the teacher who has a platform that's easy to use even when he or she was juggling so many other things at the same time. What are some other reasons why this matters? Most of the things that schools do, as you can see on the arrow on the left, have no to little impact on student learning outcomes. Tweets on social media, newsletter sent out, grade reports sent out. Things that take teachers massive amounts of time have more impact such as phone calls, open house, or notes sent home, but the actions that have the highest impact are easier and possible with Edlio Engage. Edlio Engage is a place to spark interest in future themes, topics, have discussions, look at characters that we'll be reading about, creating a variety of the types of homework that students can choose from, especially during this time of remote learning, so when you use other social media networks for a learning platform this is a an issue because the parents' attention is divided from their students. They see lots of other things going on at the same time, but Engage is your own private social media network. Administrators have access to everything from the highest to the most intricate levels of communication and teachers and parents are limited to the classes into which they're invited. So let's go and see the platform. And now, as you can see we have our Edlio Engage platform that looks very similar to what you might see on a social media feed on your computer and so as we began I just wanted to show you the main parts before we jump into each one of them. On this side right here where it says group filter this is where you have complete control over what you would see in your feed, this is your feed and right now I have the Group Filter chosen for English I because this is what I will be posting within today. This is your dashboard so any time you click on Edlio Engage, you'll return to the home screen no matter where you are. These are our icons at the top the first one is conversations, which we'll be starting with in a second. The next one is calendar, inbox, My Network and Directory. Before we jump into the platform let's look at our profile so when you hover over your photograph and name and you click on this, we will have a place where you can change your profile photo you can change your password but more importantly you can edit your profile preferences so no longer will you have parents who are being sent way too many notifications and being frustrated, so frustrated that they will then just turn it off and say, "Please remove me!" There's a very very, very detailed and specific batch of notification preferences that the parent can choose from. So, once they have added all of their personal information, this is something I really want to draw your attention to which is one of the highlights of Edlio Engage, is the language preference so, as you can see, this dropdown menu has over 100 languages that are embedded into the platform my language preference is set at English but for example if I was a native Russian speaker, I would have my language preference set as Russian and therefore any communication in my inbox I would be reading it in Russian I would be typing messages in Russian. In my conversations feed everything that I would see would be in Russian and when I would type a post or comment on someone else's post I would be able to do this in my native language and this is a very unique feature that you don't have to choose a drop-down menu at the top to translate the page, which isn't always completely accurate, as well. It's a further step, so we tried our best to make it a very smooth process for our community to be able to communicate most comfortable way possible. As you can see here you have some communication options: you can receive a daily summary email, allow text messages, phone message alerts, here you can enable email notifications or mobile push alerts, and lots of other things that parents have control over. So, and when we click "Save", everything is saved. So we'll go back to our platform now. And, another thing this button right here says, "Send Emergency Alert". This feature gives a school an opportunity to override any notification preferences to send a very important message out that will reach every person that is a user on the platform, so whenever they click "Send Emergency Alert", everyone will be included. It's a very quick process and an excellent way to reach as many people as possible in the  event of an emergency and now let's begin with the Conversations feed right here, so as we look these are the types of posts that parents benefit from: parents are interested in summer school details, they would like to know which class my student will be in, what materials do I need to purchase or prepare for you know in the weeks before right now or or before the fall season starts. Parents also enjoy really understanding what themes or what materials their students will be learning about ahead of time, so I'm going to show you a couple ways that you can truly engage the parent. One way: I would like to create a poll so, to begin a post you would click on: "Share a message, photo, video, or file" you can click on the white part or you could also do a very fast, a quick post by clicking either the camera to share photo, a video, a file, a text message that would go to your community, and a phone alert but we're going to click this box and create a post. We're going to create a poll here that will gauge interest in whatever book we decide to read for summer learning so I'll show you the finished poll. So parents would get this notification saying "Vote for your student's top pick! With your student watch each of these book trailers, then vote!" As parents and students together watch these book trailers and discuss which books they would be the most interested in, they would be able to vote and the final results would show up on the feed so this also gives them an opportunity to have a say in what they will be learning about. so this is the way that you can post a poll, I'll just make this a quick one you say add poll and we would put our books our book names in here, how many ever choices we would we would like to have, and we choose who we would like to share this with so we will share it with our English I parents and students you can also schedule it to post at a certain time when you believe your community would be the most likely to read it and then as soon as we click post the poll would show up on their feed and your your families would have an opportunity to vote and I want you to notice here do you see this circle right here that says FES-12, and I'm going to hover over it so that you can read the message it says Family Efficacy Score: this is a measure of how successful this post was at engaging the targeted audience, Minimum Score = 0, Maximum Score = 100, and this is only visible to the poster and administrators. Say you are a school administrator and you really want to provide professional development for your teachers. You want them to create that back and forth engagement. This is a way of helping them have a growth moment and possibly even a competition to see which which teachers can really increase their score. There are different ways of increasing the FES score. What what types of actions weight the score? Anytime someone likes a post or opens a notification from an email, if they even open the email that will increase the FES score, if a link is clicked into, commented or replies to a comment. This is another way to really make sure to gauge yourself as a school or district is how much you are engaging your families with more than just one- way communication. Another option you have for posting, you have several options when you create a post: you can add a photo so, I want my students to see you know this is the book that has won our competition We will read To Kill a Mockingbird! Get excited! I want to share this with again my parents and students, the polls are in, and this will show up on our feed and parents will get a notification about it. Another thing that you can do in a post you can add a video that will show in the post, you can add a file, at this time, a lot of PDFs and I, as a teacher, would often share notes to classes that may be a student wasn't able to make it to, you can add a text message when you create a post that will go directly to your communities' phones, a phone alert as well and as we spoke about the poll, so let's go ahead and create, we're going to have a "Virtual Field Trip" to the setting of To Kill a Mockingbird. The polls are closed; the book has been chosen! We're going to be reading this book but before we read let's go on a virtual field trip And, these are the things that a parent can help his or her student do: First you'll watch this video and I have hyperlinked a video by choosing this button and entering the link 2: think about the places you visited or seen, it's always good to make a connection, 3: they will go on a virtual tour to visit the homes and then after that they will comment on the post answering this question. This is this is the way you can gauge how involved was your family in this task, "Which character do you find the most intriguing?" We'll choose again who we want to share it with and we don't want to disable comments because we want them to comment on this post and as soon as we post okay we will see that and, if I want to go back in and make any editing I can edit this little pencil right here and in a previous post I added some photos so you can see I added photos from the movie the students can shuffle through and that is another type of post so you have lots of options with Conversations, let's quickly move on to Calendar. The calendar goes beyond just posting assignments. Engage has an event volunteer breakout group management section that I'm going to show you about real quick. We also do calendar integration so we can get something that we can speak about later let's walk through one way you can organize students into groups using Engage. Actually going to show you one that I previously created so we are going to have a lesson on symbolism in To Kill a Mockingbird, so I let the parents know that at 10:00 on Friday June 19th, go to this Zoom link, Can't wait to see you. Be ready to work hard with your assigned group. This is what I've added into the post I chose the date and the time and so it'll be added to my community's calendar and notify recipients you have some options here when you send them but I'm going to have three groups that my students will be divided up into and then I'm going to add some more details down here I would like to attach the notes about symbolism and some photos which I add just by clicking "choose" as soon as I Save & Exit, I can click on the actual event to do Manage Sign-Ups, so I can assign students into a group of three students per group or however many I choose and at this point I have a couple options: I can print this group these assignments and this is something that can be for teachers that's very very quick that sometimes can be a very difficult process in assigning groups, when I return here I noticed that this will show up in my Conversations feed as well so when you post events on your calendar which is very easy to do also will show up on your class feed for them to comment to be able to see Adding events on the calendar is a very easy process, you have several different options of how you would like to view it, whether it's "Day" if you have a lot of things scheduled "Week" and "Month". and you can add events by clicking the long view event which is what saw before and you also have options of clicking on a particular day for a short view of adding an event. This is a very quick way to add an event to your calendar. So, the calendar, again, it's a great place to not just post assignments but you have so many options of things you can do Let's move on to the Inbox, and this is a place where you can have very easy one- -to-one or one-to-a-few messaging. Anything that's one- -to-many would take place in your Conversation Feed, you can attach documents for review in your inbox, you can, for example, a student didn't finish his or her paper in class and so you can attach the paper or a screenshot to the message. It's a private and safe place to store documentation, and the highlight here is that translation is the user's communication preference language preference will be able to be utilized within this message so I type a message to Ashley Compton and I let her know that I need to speak with her about her daughter's essay or, man, she wrote a beautiful essay today, I can attach that essay, and type a message. If Ashley for example speaks a different language she would open up her message in her inbox and the language would be in her preference. I'm so the inbox administrators are able to view and track all communication that takes place in the inbox and within classes so quickly as we wrap up today let's look at these last two icons: My Network is where you can manage your connections, and create and modify your groups. This is where when you go through the implementation process, you can build your organization how you wish to build it, and you can expand out each level, for example that's my profile when I click on English I I can expand out and see all of the people that are member of English I and what types of user privileges that person has so but these are all of my parents and it lists their student's name underneath a different last name which helps me in my communication and also all the students which would be at I would definitely have a larger group of students than parents right in a real group. Directory, the last section here this is like a staff directory or phone book and the focus is your connections. It enables you to see the contacts within each organization. What you can do here you can see everyone, open a class to see parents names just like in my network and you can start or compose a message also including a specific choice of people, for example I want to send a message to these three parents I can click "Compose" and these three parents will not see each other's name it will be performed like a BCC a blind copy email that will go out to these recipients. Director is a place where you can see everyone so as we wrap up today I'm a former teacher and I'm very thrilled to stand behind Edlio Engage.
