Good morning everyone thank you so much for joining us today for our Google functionality webinar today we will be covering a walk through on how Google functions with your Edlio website. We also have a technical support representative in the chat who can answer any questions that you may have the webinar is being recorded and will be accessible to everyone in the help center So let's go ahead and get started now I am going to log into the admin site and just as a reminder depending on what you are seeing here on the dashboard this course all depends on the rights that you have been given so you may have teacher rights or you may have admin rights. So just keep in mind that that's what you will see on the dashboard As a reminder a great place to go for additional resources is under our help drop down so under help we have built a help center which is an external site here so this is where you can come for all resources once we have completed the webinar and we have uploaded it to the Help Center you can click here to watch. Another great area that I wanted to mention here as well is when you click on help articles If you scroll all the way down under technical topics you have the option of clicking on Google and everything that we're going to be covering today will be listed here. So this is an easy area to access that information So now i'm going to flip back to the website and the first area that I wanted to cover was Google single sign-on so with Google single sign-on this is what allows you the option where if I were to sign out here you'll see a button that says single sign-on What this allows you to do is upload your users with their Google credentials and that way it's not an additional credential that you have to create for them they'll just be able to click to enter in with their Google information. Now in order to set this up you do need to submit a case to support so they can help you with the setup process and if you are interested in additional information on Google Single Sign On where we clicked under Technical and click on Google you can click here on Google single sign-on it'll give you a brief run through and under sign in with Google SSO this is where you'll see the screen will look like so so they'll be able to sign in with Google here. So just remember that if you did need to set that up you will need to contact support first. So now let's go back into the website the other area that I wanted to cover as well is Google Analytics. So Google analytics allows you to get a very detailed analysis on the traffic coming to your website so maybe you wanted to run this every semester maybe every quarter or you wanted to do it yearly it'll give you a great detailed analysis so you can see maybe which pages are getting the most clicks, what areas aren't being visited on the website so that way you can brainstorm with your team to see what you would like to do now for Google analytics if we click into her hamburger drop down menu you can go under more and when you click on Stats you're going to see that you can sign up through Google analytics in the website and this is free there is no charge for this and then you'll be able to integrate it with your website so what happens is once you've gone through all of the steps would come in to your hamburger drop down menu go under site management and settings under the tab that says APIs this is where you will place your Google Analytics ID that it gives you after you have set it up and please remember to give it at least 24 hours for it to start analyzing the website. and again if you wanted additional information on Analytics where we are here in The Help Center you can click on the option that says add Google analytics to your website and it'll give you the run through again up the steps that we just took to add it. now going back to our admin site since we are in settings I did want to mention that as we all know due to COVID-19 and everyone moving towards your online learning many teachers have news in their Pages maybe you use Google classroom at the school we do have the option of integrating your Google classroom with your Edlio website and in order to do that what you would need to do is in your settings when you click on your classroom tab you want to make sure that where it says enable Google Classroom integration that this is turned on if it is not turned on teachers are not going to be able to pull over classes and assignments from their Google Classroom so just make sure that this is switched to yes and always click on save. Now the next step is admins please make sure that under classes you first set a term so that way teachers can go in and add their classes. If a term has not been set teachers will not be able to add a class so just make sure that you have a term and you can set this again for every semester maybe for every season for the entire year it just depends on how you would like to set it up but just make sure that this has been added and then your next step will be that when you click on classes and assignments what this is going to allow you to do if you go under your classes is you can add, you can connect to your Google so any classes and assignments that you have listed you'll be able to pull over and connect to the site. So you would just click on add a class and it will ask you if you would like to import from Google Classroom them you click on yes if you've done the connection already and since we already have this connected it's going to ask me which classes I would like to pull over or you can switch to another user account if maybe that's an option that you have so you would click select all and go through the process here and what this looks like is the following. If we go back into all classes and click on math The way you will know that this has been pulled over from Google is this green icon so under this teacher's class you would be able to access the Google classroom. So if we go to the website and remember that teacher pages are accessed through the Staff Directory so under Staff Directory we could search for that teacher and you would be able to view their teacher page so again you will be able to see this icon so you can access it and with the classes you do also have the option where if you don't want to be using Google you still have that manual option of adding your classes by typing them out and just as a reference that anything that we covered today will be under the technical topics Google so if you did want additional information you can access that here as well integrating the Google Classroom you'll be able to access that here. now your next option that the admins have as well involves your calendars. So with your calendars we'll go into the hamburger drop down and go into plan and click on calendars. Now remember this is only for the Admins teachers can only add their events manually but admins have the option to integrate Google Calendars so let's say you are already creating all your calendars in Google instead of manually creating the event here you can just connect your calendar and the way that that works is in the top right-hand corner we have our settings option when you click on settings it's going to take you again to settings under the calendars tab now a couple things here under calendar it's going to show all of the calendars that you have created here already if there is a calendar that you need to add that you are not seeing all you need to do is click on add calendar go ahead and title it here and click on save so now you'll see that the new calendar has been created now with the Google integration you would need to select your calendar so let's say this is our academic year under calendar integration you want to click on connect a Google so with this is going to do is when you click on Google it's going to prompt you to sign in with your credentials it's going to take you to a page with all of the calendars that you have created you would need to select the one that matches the academic year calendar and then what it's going to do is it going to start importing all of that over to your Edlio website and the great part about that is once it starts integrating it when you go back into calendar If it's pulling over from Google you're going to see in parentheses next to the event it'll say Google that means that this is a Google Calendar that was connected so if you need to change that event any type of managing you would need to go back into Google to do that so you will not be able to edit the event under your Edlio CMS you would need to go into Google but it will show you in parentheses that this is pulling from your Google calendar. Going back into settings you can do this for as many calendars as you would like to just keep in mind that when you are connecting the Google Calendar you will need to do it one by one so it's not just going to mass import all of your calendars over. After you have connected the academic year calendar click on your list of calendars and go on to the next one let's say senior calendar is the next one here again you would click Google choose the calendar and that is going to start pulling over. So you will need to go through each one and just as a note just because you are connecting to Google Calendar you can still use the manual option under plan and calendar so let's say you just needed to add a quick event you didn't want to go do it into Google you will still have that option of manually adding your event here now our next option that we have as well is let's say we go into media for example and we wanted to add some photos for example when I click on photos let's say we wanted to add a new album here create album we are going to call this test album 2020. When you click on okay anywhere that you see this upload icon throughout the CMS you're going to see the same options of how you can upload so when I click you're going to see that you can pull over files and photos from your Google Drive so you will see the option consistently throughout the Edlio website so if we were to go into page management and Pages for example and you wanted to edit a specific page let's go ahead and click on one here so you'll see the same option that if I go in to add and I click on files for example you'll see upload when you click on it same four options of your computer Dropbox Google Drive Microsoft OneDrive so Google Drive will prompt you to again connect with your Google account and then you'll be able to pull over your specific files that you would like to so anywhere that you see this upload icon you'll see the same four options. now as a reminder when we went over the classes for Google just please remember to set a term first that way the classes can go ahead and get added in to the website and when we go into the help center the way that we access the Google Help Is by going in and clicking on help articles when you scroll down you'll see under technical topics we have Google when you click on Google all of the information that we covered today will be accessible here in the section menu so if you have additional questions you kind of wanted to do some exploring it will be listed here in the section menu for you and then if we click back into the help center just as a reminder that the webinars are available for you to watch so when you click on click here to watch it will be uploaded here for you so you will have access to this recording now as a reminder if you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to your client success specialist at Edlio.
