okay let's go ahead and get started being that this is only scheduled for about 15 minutes and I want to make sure everyone can kind of get on with the rest of their day my name is Nicole and I am your host of today's webinar and what we're here to discuss is to talk about your school website can and should be an asset during I'm cold during this time mini mini mini about how you consume questions if you look at the lower bottom of your screen you should see a Q&A button we will collect questions throughout the webinar and answer as many as we can at the end question does not get an answer today do not worry absolutely reach out to Educators easier to approachable and Power technology our platforms are extremely easy to update you do not need to know HTML coding update our websites in real time focus on change to 12 community so our platform is only made for schools in district unlike some of your more open-source platforms like quicksand Weebly in Google you're probably trying to conform it to education to wear off platform for 19 years now we had our start about 19 years ago one of our four schools believe it or not was New Dorp high school out in Staten Island Ezio is currently located in California but again we did have our original start out there in New York and we power over 15000 School in District website so far so again this is our bread-and-butter we know exactly what are the schools and districts needs what are your school Community needs and we try to make it as easy as possible via our management system CMS a little bit about me not you may be interested manager cell all of the schools 1 first grader who is logged into Zoom right now and his virtual learning and my daughter is in college I have 20 years of experience working in education in in different in different demographic so I guess I've been doing this for a very long time and a quick fun fact about me is that my love making exercise videos pacifically jump roping exercise videos with my first grader with my seven-year-old son just trying to stay active with Jim's or shutdown that's something that I do to not only let out a little bit of stress but also to stay at just a little bit about me so let's go ahead and do exactly what we're here for again to talk about how websites play a critical role in your community after school I'm the one of the things that you want to make sure that you do when you do have a website and again it doesn't have to be at Leo any other website platform that you're using you want to have the required or even some of those third-party platforms that you're using you want that to be on the front and center of the website cuz your website really should be a one-stop-shop for your for your parents for prospective care Spectre parents are looking for a school to join they don't send their driving by websites they're not driving by schools so what you articulate on your website impression that you leave on your website makes a big difference would like to show you some of the samples of some schools that we power out there in New York that does have some information that a lot of New York schools they have it on the front of their website in one of the websites is ms12 Academy of Learning and Leadership they have that pop-up message that that I understand that all NYC schools you have to complete this daily health screening if you wants to enter any of the nycdoe building so if I click on read. Ori here I can get not only information about you know why we have to complete this form but I also have a link that will take me directly to the NYC Department of Education for that form that everyone has to complete if they want to go into the so again I didn't have to go scavenger hunt to find where that help form was it's the first thing I see on the website so that's just a good example of how you want to have some of those links if they're using a lot on the front end of their website and the school also has a link to their staff directory we also have parent resources where we can have access to PupilPath some some schools out there using PupilPath so that's why we go to the next school here for Brock's to Reach Academy we also see on the last example you saw that was a message that was on the screen it looks like they had on the homepage of their website they have this button that says health screening form to be able to complete it in this will scroll with them on the website two different ways you can kind of add links on to the website but also notice how they have a late to PupilPath here as well and I seen schools have Google Classroom here as well because a lot of NYC classroom or any other third-party platforms that you're using any LMS learning management system here on the front page of your website, and they also have their calendar Shameless plug our calendars to integrate with Google Calendar as well so they have a different group a grouping understand that's also a new exercising using with the hybrid model we have your your calendar integrated with Google Calendar on your website as well so you also want to have a central place of information especially with covid-19 you want to have maybe one page that's dedicated to any and everything related to fold it I'm so again I have a couple of examples of schools that have that if you go to Maspeth High School in the Queens notice how he go to the response page this is the page that they have dedicated just the Cove it so it's letting everyone know about you know how is this for responding to states that were here from the school all of the pass update I can go to hear that health screening form that I showed you earlier they have a late fee as well online schedule and them other things are looking at and it's your responsibility as a great job of doing your websites are also should be Ada accessible by the end of this year I'm sure you probably heard that from NY gioi so if your websites are not accessible Maspeth also have nice tools for the special needs community so I can make the text a little larger I can you know if I need a big cursor because maybe the person that normally comes with website see how that's really small I can make that big can I change the contrast if my eyes are a little bit different than everybody else we're on their website I thought I'd just find that out another school that does a great job of creating a cold page on their website is PS 192 and this is there Co-op page just letting everyone know about the rules in New York and really have that trickles down to the school have to wash her and so forth so they have a nice in your content management system you also have unlimited forms that you can add on your website so just like a Google form or as I would have to say are a little bit better because it is Dragon drop technology when you when you complete our if we go to PS 229 this is another edlio school that we power notice how if we go to the homepage of their one of their website as I'm scrolling on their page they have to sign up for alerts if I click on sign up you can have some worms filter you know on your website so if you don't have a provider that has a Content management system that has forms and maybe you want to use Google for other forms that are out there yes it will be another one that you're having some forms on your website because they are problematic for two reasons accessible severe special needs Community translated in over a hundred different languages I just change it to Spanish Spanish and have a nice report of everyone do you want to try to get away from TDS if you can try to put the content on your website and more importantly try to use forms if you can cuz again when you send out forms and flyers for those two reasons that I mentioned earlier and they're using a parent School communication form they're just letting them know that the school is readily available into a cyst on the parents through this crisis and through this new phone new Norm or pandemic or just letting them know that if you have any questions that you complete this form and reach out to them you know who would you like to speak to what can they help you with and I'm so forth and again the form can be translated on this with the school we're just a different way of putting forms on your website again trying to get away from PBS so it looks like I'm finished a little early maybe about a minute early for my presentation extremely quick with with covid so I'm also having another webinar on Wednesday tomorrow and Thursday guys like to see our next topic with us about our Google
