let's go ahead and begin thank you again for joining us today on our topic called a building Community engagement during distance learning or this beautiful wonderful new Norm that were end with covet my name is Nicola go and I will be your presenter or today's weapon are the first would like to discuss them a logistics before bottom of your screen and a button if you have any questions throughout the presentation definitely feel free to cook on that button and ask away questions recession or I'm sorry at the end of the session I'll just questions at the end but not able to answer them at the moment I'll definitely follow up with you via email shortly after we after the a little bit about Ed Lee has been around for a very long time almost nineteen years and our mission is to make the lives of Educators easier through approachable and power knowledge are technology we are content management system which is sometimes referred to as the CMS is only made for came through 12 schools in district so we've tried to simplify the platform for your website visitors but also the back in so you do not need to be super tech-savvy you do not need to know HTML coding text Abby who work with a lot of public schools that are not blessed like some of our districts that have technology directors and maybe sometimes it's the principle where the parent coordinator that's been tasked Bing webmaster in and I guarantee you our platform is extremely easy to update in real-time that's why we powered over 15000 School in District across the country and around the world, mention we started 19 years ago I believe it or not we actually began in New York I'm currently located in California and so is edlio at the moment but our first school was New Dorp high school out instead a little bit about me I'm just in case you guys are curious that's me on the screen I am the territory manager for New York mother-of-two so I absolutely understand the challenges as a as a parent having to navigate through this new Norm I'm at the moment my son is across the room about 2 class for the day so I understand the challenge of having to you know sometimes work at home and and also be the parent at the same time and in education not only with but I saw it as the higher ed part of education and just a little fun fact I me and my son who's one year old and my daughter is in college at UNLV make a video specifically jump roping video our claim to fame if you'll stay at my son's getting really good we actually do doubles just a little fun fact about me I'm so let's get into exactly why we're here today website absolutely play a critical role role with schools this year specifically I mean website sir or absolutely important regardless but especially during Cold War Kids are trying to find ways of keeping their school community in WoW remote are you there with you how you can use your website only show you ways that you can absolutely your parents via your website with hold it so the first hip that we would like to talk about is giving your teachers their own page on the website and even if you're not using the provider that offers to I've been all that other providers create free websites out there so I definitely want to have teacher websites linked on your website if possible and I'm going to show you examples of some of those now this is Molly Stark Elementary School this is mr. Kelly let's go to the live version of the website and this is mr. Kelly's teacher page on the website so you see what this new Norm he's letting all of the parents know about the zoom round rules you know my son again is in the room at the moment and if you ask me I think meet yourself should absolutely be at the top because we are struggling with that mute button thing that he's in first grade but I understand you know it's hard it's been a lovely challenge at the moment we're getting there he also has the schedule listed here so their parents know exactly what's going on at their personal schedules around the school an appearance will also know what books to have out at what time what notebooks while there is no helping with the parents so that's really nice to have on the website also has a link song we look to the left the fourth grade schedule and not going to click on them but importantly maybe I ready you're too I can or whatever other platforms that you're using to help we can click on this one but you see how they're using Google Classroom Google Classroom go math links are working two different assignment personal calendar and maybe a photo album I think in the photo album of pictures of the kids and their pets which I think is kind of cute about a little bit about you know his Joys and but about him but some of his favorite things that we can see all of Creation with Google classrooms parents can come directly to the website and see those Google Classroom homework assignments and announcements right here on the page if we want to see a nice calendar view here we can click on calendar view get a printer friendly version of olives homework and assignments that are due throughout the month and nicely ready on my refrigerator or maybe we have grandparents now and then numbers that are having to step in and stay at home with children while the parents are out you know still making a living so family members can be engaged in the student engage by going to the website to see what homework and announcements are due for the week so it's about engaging not only the parents at all family members who are successful so that's a little bit about mr. Kelly PS 106 in District 32 in Brooklyn we can go to their website and this is a teacher page teacher page that's on the website so noticed she has her weekly schedule a little sample slow of the day of may be what to expect in a little bit of a teacher and she also has classes that are linked to Google Classroom as well here as we saw with mr. Kelly I'm so just different examples of New York schools that we power and I think the best eye one of the great features is ability translate our website over a hundred different languages you put on the page Olive assignments on Google Classroom so now I know this is big 33 different languages at that school when were engaged able to engage also you're special needs Community websites are also Ada accessible as well or pictures on the website can be read by screen readers next to our next which is to set up contactless payment on some school websites you know now because you're not in school we'll have to find ways on how to still collect monies before they used to be able to collect cash or maybe you know is business still operate the same if the parents aren't there to be able to turn in money so I seen Leo system and some of the things that we have to offer let's look at Trinity Christian School Christian School has a form so on our with SEO you can create unlimited form so kind of like a Google form with drag-and-drop technology remember I said earlier we make it extremely navigate our system created easily with drag-and-drop technology notice how this is an s so again we don't want to appear in this form credit card information right here and make the payment right directly from the website okay so that's one option and again what's great about our website is that not only in the website reading different languages Google Classroom can be read in different languages and liars and PDFs Community unfortunately PDFs are problematic for two ways with with forms when it's not as accessible to your special needs and to PDF some flyers cannot be trans put them on the website so it can be translated all right let's go to the next example Lincoln High School actually using our store that we have or links to other platforms to collect payments on the website with edlio when fridge door so if I go to the live version here I can click on the item that I want to buy added to my car play with my credit card Lincoln High School out in New York as well so notice how they are selling almost anything and everything on their website to have their early eyes for their senior dues for this this year I'm so again cashless payments we don't want those germs from the monies and it is more easy to the words for all the teachers on the line for the parents to make payments from their cell phone are more from a tablet they don't have to come to the school so that's Abraham Lincoln let's go to you also want to be able to post lots of the video with closed captioning so I've noticed that some teachers are putting their pictures on the website if we go to one of the schools that we power I know that all of the website that we power the video Family turn the sound off they're all of the videos that you add to our website to do have our own video player embedded in your say it automatically comes with closed captioning within an hour of you uploading the video to the website for your special needs community so someone is blind or hard-of-hearing they can at least follow along with what video is saying by reading here and on top of that it also comes with a full transcript of what was said on that video you will have the ability of translating your videos on the website as well so again you want to make sure that the videos are not only engaging all students including your special needs example of Art actual warning announcement it looks like it's playing already but this is one of the teachers it's I am familiar with the principal there so it looks like it may be late it on the website community the class so again that is a bad example of PS 13 and it looks like I have concluded the presentation again we purposely made these quick and easy and pain it doesn't look like we have any questions so that means I must have been very clear and so that my email address is on the screen old.com number with the Department of Ed is located on the lower left hand side as well we are an approved vendor with the Department of Ed so we hope that we gave you some great tips to navigate the new I know I'm being your website and hope to connect with you in the near future thank you so much and enjoy the rest of your day be safe
