let's go ahead and get started today my name is Sara and I am the client success specialist leading the webinar today, I've also got with me our technical support representative Sergio he's going to be helping us with answering questions in the chat Today we're going to be talking about Edlio's recent product enhancements that we have made the past couple of years going through some of those items that we have updated added refreshed things like that, just so you get an idea of all of the new features and updates that your Edlio CMS subscription gets you a couple of quick housekeeping items on the webinar did just begin please try and remain on mute for the webinar are we will be uploading a video presentation on our help center after we transcribe the video and get it uploaded it'll be available on our help center so you can distribute it to anyone who missed it you need to leave early, if you arrive late we will be recording this and putting it up later so you can catch the whole thing another time if you do have questions during the session feel free to pop them into the zoom Q&A panel during the webinar Sergio and I will be checking questions you do not have to wait until the end however I will collect some throughout the end and if we have time at the end we'll answer more but feel free to go ahead and ask the question live if something comes up and then and then our help center is available to you with other tips tricks other recorded webinars help articles Etc I'm going to go ahead and stop sharing and pull up my demo website so that we can begin our session today Alrighty so I'm going to go ahead and log into Rilo high school and we will be doing our session today using Rilo one of the first things that pop was one of the first security one of the first enhancements that I wanted to talk about today which is two factor authentication you may have received some emails from us in the spring regarding two-factor authentication this is a new feature that we rolled out for your security purposes what this means is that your account will be tied to another device to factor authentication means that when you go to the set up a code will be sent to a different device that will be required for your login purposes later now its prompting me to sign up for this so I can go ahead and go through this with you really quick and just show you how this will work but you might use something like to start authentication with your bank with your credit card where you receive a code that's texted to you sometimes you can send a phone call, an email what we're using is two-factor authentication that's just like that except we're requiring our users to use apps some of the apps that you might use or things like Authy, Google Authenticator Duo other things like that it's just an app on your mobile device your iPad that will send you a generated code every time you log into Edlio that's unique to that login so that it's secure every single time so that's one of the major updates that we've made in 2021 is rolling this out for all users it is not required at this time but we do strongly encourage going ahead and setting this up because it is as we said for your security it only serves to make your logins better so we do really strongly encourage that to be set up If you haven't done that yet you should get a banner like this that pops up and if you click on register your account will guide you to this code page right here I would use my iPhone to scan this QR code and then I would connect this QR code to my Google Authenticator app that is what I use and then it would register the two together it would generate a pin code for me that I would enter into this field right here and then my Google Authenticator app on my iPhone my personal iPhone would be tied to my Rilo high school login and every time I would login what would happen is it would generate a new code for me on Google Authenticator and then I would use that each time I log in so that it's a unique login each time So that's one of the major enhancements we've made in 2021 other enhancements were stronger password criteria so Edlio did not used to require certain passwords steps to be met we do now your password needs to be at least 12 characters long it need to have, it needs to have some special characters you can not reuse passwords if it is a weak password it will tell you that it is a weak password and will not let you reuse it and so strong password criteria is one that we have rolled out in 2021 as well so let's say for example I'd like to change my password these are my new requirements this is my new screen for doing so if you are not interested in using our password generator one option and this would be mostly for website admins is to reach out to your client success specialist and we can set up single sign-on for you we offer Google single sign-on as well as Microsoft what that would do is allow your users to just sign in with their Google or Microsoft credentials they won't need to enter their password so if you're having trouble with keeping track of multiple passwords and you're an admin or your staff are having trouble with it in your interest in exploring this reach out to us that's the best alternative we also do offer active directory authentication as well but you would have to enter in a password with active directory so if you're trying to get away from doing that reach out to us and talk to us about Google single sign-on or Microsoft single sign-on the final major security enhancements that we made this year was continuing to offer secure websites with HTTPS so what that looks like as if there's a little lock symbol in front of your URL and that means it is a secure certificate and that the connection is secure so now let's go to some more internal enhancements we're going to talk really quickly about pages A couple of major enhancements with pages involve accessibility I'm going to head into this section and show you these items we've updated a couple of draft tools for you to use it so you can continue to update your pages and keep them accessible so what I'm going to show you here is actions preview draft and what you'll notice here are a couple of icons this icon down here is called a tota11y page analysis tool and then this is a WAVE accessibility tool both of these scan your website for accessibility analysis so that you can continue to build these pages by using this feature but scan them as you build them to look for contrast errors errors at all other items so this page at right here actually looks I'm seeing 0 errors so I can go ahead and save this I could also use this tool right here and look at some other identifiers for accessibility I click for image alt text, I'm seeing a couple of small images right here that don't have alt text but it does indicate to me that they're decorative images everything else is looking good to go So those are two updates that we have made to accessibility within Pages couple of other options you may see or that we now have an option to save pages as a draft previously you did not have the option to save it as a draft you can only publish or unpublish Pages now you can actually save them when I go back to my section I see a little grayed out box here that lets me know this is a draft when I'm ready to publish it I can go and just publish draft and then of course I can go back later and unpublish it that has not gone away but a draft option where you can preview it is new and another item that you can take when you're looking at the draft is the public view so you can look at it and see what it actually looks like before you before you choose to save it Pages have also had a couple of other enhancements with what you can add to them this is displayed actually right here in this page you can see a couple of examples of that we've now offered a new option for your staff directory called staff blocks and what that means is that when this is available on your website and you can reach out to your client success specialist to find out more if it's not you can click add and you'll see an option to add either staff or search bar for your staff when you add staff what that means is that you can drag-and-drop individual staff users into one page instead of using the entire staff directory you can now do this option as well and this just provides a level of greater flexibility you can do more with it within page and it allows for just higher customization and ease-of-use so let's say for example I want to build out this a little bit more I'm going to add a couple of other teachers here add one more teacher one benefit of using the staff option is again that greater customization that I just mentioned so I'm going to actually add a couple more to illustrate this and it'll be easier for you to note let's add Randall and Ashley you'll notice here that the layout that I chosen for this staff block is a horizontal one with circular images but this one right here has a vertical layout but let's say I want them to match I could go to this gear icon select the same as the one above maybe I want this one to just be like this maybe I want it to be square I can do that as well maybe I want them both to be right on top of one another I can do that maybe I'd like to add a staff person to my sidebar my section menu do that I can even manage the way that looks over here too There's also a new option to add a button which is an additional way to create links that are a little bit more attractive and aesthetically pleasing on your website so I'm going to add a real quick little button here to illustrate that type in my name for the button grab a link here paste that in don't really like the way that looks so I'm going to change the appearance of it I'm going to use this style and there's my button I'm going add another one here let's say we can do that link is really not ideal let's try this one Let's say I want to rearrange them, I can do that I can rearrange this whole block if I'd like to as well a couple of other enhancements to pages content blocks can be collapsible this icon right here indicates that this content something that collapses and what that looks like is it there will be a window, an arrow actually that either opens it or closes the page so let's do This works really well for something like an FAQ section let's look at this draft what's going to happen is this content is now either able to be open or closed makes it really easy to categorize things like PDF frequently asked questions bullet points things like that within your pages that they're not one giant list or content block last image, last idea that I wanted to talk about with pages is our new section menu and page menu layout options so one thing that you'll notice that layout has a couple of new items right here and used to have just this top one with either a left-hand section menu a right hand section menu or no section menu at all there's a couple more options here you have left right and center meeting one without a section menu but you also have one with hero layouts so I'm going to choose this one and show you what you can do with these hero layouts you can add a photo a section menu or buttons to this just like you could to a section menu so let's say I actually want to add my section menu up here and I want to get rid of this one and now it moves my section menu up to the top instead of being on the left hand side or the right hand side excuse me I can do the same with photos let's add a photo really quickly here we're gonna do this picture I did my alternative text always required let's preview this draft now I have my photo in my section menu as a hero layout you'll notice here my section is actually above the photo it doesn't have to be that way I can actually drag this below it if I'd like it to be below it this is a really large image so this might take a little bit of fiddling but there is my section menu below now let's save that draft again and preview once again just to show you that I dragged and dropped now I have a large photo with a section menu below it instead of on the right or the left hand side feel free to play around with this and see what layout options work best for you but this is a really important new enhancement that gives you greater flexibility within pages so with our last few minutes I would like to talk about forms as well as supply list if we have a minute we can talk about classes in a sign as well so within forms we've added several new enhancements specifically with fields that you can collect as well as new form options you'll notice that some of these little icons say payment that means that this is an integration with edlio pay and forms which means that these fields collect payments this is something that we need to set up for you ahead of time so if you're interested in exploring this feel free to reach out to your client success specialist in we'll put you in touch with our online school payments team and you can set this up for you but once it's enabled what will happen is you will have the option to integrate these form payment options inside your, your forms and that is actually under a password protected area so let's look at another one and the forms now have fields below for collecting payments as integrated with your edlio pay store another new option was forms are these brand new templates that we agreed we have a huge library now of form templates that we have pre-built for your ease of use so that you do not need to drag-and-drop the fields anymore for some commonly used forms so you'll see here we have some ones that are also already pre-populated with payment fields, we have some reporting options registration and announcements donations everything from that to let's see volunteer requests uniforms yearbooks all of these are pre-built and this comes with every Edlio website that has forms the payment option is still something that you need to add on but all of these other templates are available to you right now let's really really quickly talk about classes we've made some enhancements to classes so we've made some enhancements to google classroom that I'll show you actually on my Rilo high school teacher page that make it a little bit easier to use our Google Calendar classroom integration Google Classroom integration excuse me I'm going to go to my classes show you what this looks like actually on my edlio pages one moment while I pull up my teacher page so let's show it looks as though my demo pages for my edlio Google classroom have expired because the term has ended so let me really really quickly add a new class it's going to connect them so the two items that I wanted to specifically are actually deleted now so updates are pulled from Google Classroom daily and you can now see the assignments here so what you'll see now when you go to your child's teachers page are a couple of little enhancements this icon will take you directly to their teachers page you can subscribe to the calendar you can open the Google Classroom from another option the assignments are now subscribable so you can subscribe to individual assignments and subscribe to this page to get updates specifically about the assignments for this Google classroom and then there were a couple of other small look and feel updates made to make this page for all of the teachers just a little bit more friendly to use those are the updates that we made you Google Classroom now with the last few minutes I'm going to show off supply lists really briefly I'm not going to spend a ton of time talking about supply lists because I believe actually I hope I'm still sharing my screen for everyone just wanted to make sure looks like I am the screen now I'm going to just talk about really briefly supply list we had several new webinars about this recently so I would definitely encourage you to just look at those from our Edlio in our Help Center to look at all of our really full and detailed webinars about this but this is a brand new feature that we're all that within the past couple of weeks and what this does is it takes your supply lists your PDFs or the ones that already exist in TeacherLists who we're working with and digitize them to work for ease-of-use to purchase them so you'll see here this supply list was a PDF and our supply list feature digitized it in order to make it easier to check out and actually do the shopping for it so you'll see here I have all of my list I have a couple of different vendors that I can choose from and I can add them to my cart see there's my local Walmart and then my supply lists are ready for me to check out and purchase them all at once this is available for any Edlio website that has an NCES ID that also has a corresponding child website as well so if you're a district that only has one website with Edlio you won't see this but if you're a district that has multiple websites with Edlio you'll see this on each website as well as your district site um if you're also a school perhaps like a like a private school or a school that doesn't have an NCES ID you might not see this we're still working on ironing out which more of our schools are going to be able to add this in the future but what we hope to see is this being used by as many schools as possible in the future I'm going to go ahead and check the check to see if there are any questions let's see here looking through someone asks about a difference with edlio forms and online school payments powered by edlio so the forms versus the the school store so they are similar in that they take the same payment vendor but the school store doesn't integrate with the forms like be formed with pay does the school store is a separate excuse me that really didn't make sense the separate that the school store and the forms are the same vendor there online school payments by edlio however the school store exists outside admin site it's managed in a different place so the forms with pay are managed inside your Edlio website I hope that makes a little bit more sense after that explanation you do the same user also asked about the size of the image when you upload it to your hero layout a you would want to make sure that you had dropped the photo ahead of time before you uploaded it to that hero layout someone asks about the deletion of the supply list yes you definitely can do that let me show you really quickly how that's done you can unpublish them so it's not really deleting it but you can unpublish them let's see and it looks like she's also asking about organizing them in other ways other than alphabetical and grade level at this time unfortunately there is not but that's potentially something that could happen in the future I'm happy to pass that along to the product team let's see any other questions here you are able to change the color of the buttons that's something that we can help you with if you contact technical support or your client success specialist and also to that same user asking for cost of payment for forms definitely reach out to us and we can provide pricing that does depend on something like the modules that you choose looks like there's a question about creating a form in a different forms vendor and using it to publish it on your edlio website there are ways that you could get around I would reach out to your client success specialist for more specific guidance for that the pictures can be any size that you'd like them to be We'd recommend they probably aren't terribly wide so that they don't take too long to scroll past but it does also depend on your individual website too all right it looks like that are all of the questions that we see thank you all so
