Hi, everybody. Good afternoon. Welcome to our Wednesday webinar my name is Sara Cannon and I'm a client success specialist here at Edlio I'm joined today also by Sergio Flores from our Technical Support Team. We're going to be talking about real life examples of teacher pages today so we're going to be going through some teacher pages that I have researched and pulled to show you some examples of what really good teacher pages look like for you can get some inspiration as you get your new pages back together for the school year couple of quick housekeeping items as always a video of this presentation is going to be available on our Edlio help center after the webinar so if you do need to step away or if you arrive late don't worry we will record this and post it on the help center to help at any time of the day and if they're not available then you can leave them a voicemail and will get back to you shortly let's go ahead and get started I'm going to stop sharing and pull up the first thing that I'm going to we talked about today what are teacher pages before we actually get into some examples so I'll talk about that really briefly on my demo site and then I'll go into actually sharing some examples that I found in talking to you about why I like them and ways that you can replicate this So you all should be looking at Rilo High School so I'm going to go ahead and log in I have administrator permissions on Rilo high school but I do also have teacher page permissions as well so you kind of what I mean by that in just a second here so what are teacher pages teacher pages are the pages that are available to teacher users that have any edlio account so with your website and and you're wondering how your teachers get access to this they already have it when they log in there going to see similar options to this now remember that I have one site administrator permissions on this website so your teachers when they log in or if you are a teacher if you don't see all of these things don't worry this is extra permissions that are for managing the whole website I do still have as a teacher, teacher pages and any user that is populated into user Management on your Edlio website administrators that's down here I'll show you any user the populated into this area has access to this so all they have to do is log in and once they're logged in again most of them won't see all of these extra features what they will see is pages and they will see personal Pages category pages are a separate category that only website admins have again just keep that in mind if they're worried that they're not seeing this if you send this to them later just tell them to look for personal pages and this is where teachers can come and build out their teacher page now this would be equivalent some teachers use things like special websites for teachers at Edlio we don't have individual websites for your teachers what we have are these personal pages and they look something like this and typically these are found when you navigate to a staff directory and this is the information that you can find about your teachers and all of these features will talk about really briefly before we get started on the live examples but you have the ability to integrate Google Classroom into your teacher pages what that looks like it's having your Google classroom with your assignments and everything from the Google Classroom populate onto this page on edlio you have a feature called posts which is posting quick enter he's kind of like blog entries to your website I'll show you a couple of great uses of that when we look at the when we look at our examples today there's information about yourself that can be populated from your profile this was created when using a button and you have unlimited pages so all of these are different pages that I populated as you can see here I can continue to add to them so I could add another blank page let's call this blank page new pages I also had access to adding some additional features as pages so I can add my calendar I'm actually going to unpublish this so you can see what that looks like I've added a photo album so I can add all of these things to my teacher pages and it's a really useful tool because it's all housed underneath your edlio website you don't need to direct people parents to a different website entirely by using this you can just tell them to go to your school's website and find your teacher page and all the information about your classes your resources everything can be housed here so we love it when our teachers are getting use out of that so let's talk about some great examples of those that are actually being used by real teachers these are real websites that I have found from real Edlio users and I'm going to show you just what is what they have done with them and it was straight how you can create these things in your own pages so let me pause my sharing and start pulling some of those up Alright the first example today is this is a real live Edlio user this is a middle school language arts teacher when I was pulling these examples are a variety of examples and that you can see all these different ways that features can be utilized a middle school language arts teacher and you can see how she's used some of these Edlio feaures she has a bio built out on her homepage she has her syllabi added as attachments you can embed them. directly or add them as these file she also has some separate links built out so that if you click on these you can link to certain outside URL eventually it looks like she'll be building this out to add homework to but you can see here this is a really great example of just some basic Pages built out with your bio really really a fan of this site let's share another one really excited to share a couple of these too these are middle school counselors who have built out some great teacher pages again as I mentioned earlier every user who is populated to your Edlio website has access to these teacher pages so you do not actually have to be a teacher to use these these resources are really appropriate for as you can see here counselors you can also use this if you're a librarian and media specialist a coach any user can find a way to use these features so you can see she has her contact information listed right here she's also making great use of the posts feature Posts are a quick way to post these kinds of items as a great use of it form descriptions you can see that she has a picture of her family you know just some personal information or by some information on how to get in touch with her this this counselor is doing something similar she has her biography she has quite a lot of additional Pages listed out here as well like the dress code she has a map she's using the post's feature she's also using the section and used to embed her files that's a really great and smart use of space right there big fan of that let's look at some others this is a high school, this is actually excuse me an elementary school principal page what I really like about this one is that she is really cleverly embedding a tweet, a Twitter feed from her principal Twitter account into the section menu I think that's really clever and I can get another really great use of space also really good example of how a principal even could use these teacher pages so that you can know how to get in touch with her her contact information obviously is listed here but then also just some personal highlights with the Twitter feed if you're a principal don't feel afraid of using this you can definitely make the teacher pages work for yourself as well on to some other ones alright so the last few that I wanted to show you are other really great uses of our teacher pages so here we have a high school English teacher she has her biography listed she it was when her tutorial hours are her current course has she has her actual syllabi attached to these pages through documents and then if you need to get in touch with her her room number there's an email address for her but this is a simple one but very effective because it lets you know what her classes are and where to find her important information like her syllabi this is a great use of several of our features on this page this is a high school social studies teacher we have a welcome video listed we have some resources for outside things on her Google classroom information lots of really great stuff happening in this one I'm a big fan of using this to link to PowerSchool but then she also has inside information for all of the different classes that she teaches this is a really great use of embedding our our Google Classroom feature so on this page right here we can see he has a biography listed but all of the individual class information he's chosen to house inside the Google classroom so we actually have some assignments listed if you're curious about what a real life example of the Google classroom assignments feature looks like this is a great one he's actually also chosen to list the individual syllabi inside the course description which is a really smart used to space as well If This Were you no farther in this semester and I would have clicked show all assignments it would show a lot more this is pretty early on so um in fact I don't even think the school year has started yet so I doubt this will show that many but if I were a parent I could very easily come in or even a student I can very easily come open the Google Classroom I could subscribe to email updates of this class I could subscribe to the calendar of assignments to get information just about the assignments or I can subscribe to his page and get updates about everything so really great use here of the Google Classroom integration and then finally a really really great use of several different features here so this is a fifth grade all subject teacher we have a biography at the top she's really cleverly and using a QR code she has a class for Google classroom again I can subscribe to I could subscribe to the assignments what I like about her page that I specifically wanted to highlight is how she's using the post feature to add her homework assignment and I think that's really great because you can find it on the homepage but you can also find it if you go to her Google Classroom the post feature allows you to post to just Google classroom or to the main page so that's really handy if you need to cross cross-post or make sure that information Jason makes it to multiple different areas or if you teach a lot of classes you could keep them to their respective classes it really depends on what you need but you have flexibility which is a great use of the feature she also has built out several different all of the subjects that she teaches with some resources on them big fan of that teacher page think she's doing a great job with that and those were the last of the pages examples that I wanted to show so that wraps up the contents of the webinar today but I will now check the check to see if there are any questions if there are any way that I can illustrate how this works happy to look at that now so I did see a question about how to integrate the calendar feature that's a really great question so every user does have a personal calendar they can use until when I click here and go to calendar I see personal or school reason I see schools because I have website admin priveleges. a regular teacher would just see personal and you can go in and add in events through here now what I wanted to also show is how you can go about that if use something like Google Calendar so on the school level you can integrate a Google Calendar if you use Google on your as a personal teacher level as well you we do have a quick work around for that that I think I've Illustrated here yes yes I have so what I'm done here if you use Google for sure you can do this with Google more than likely with any other major calendar provider as well what you can do with your Google calendar is request you can in the sharing settings on your Google calendar you can grab an iframe embed code with that iframe embed code you can create a new blank Edlio page this is what I've done here and then added this into the source code so what that looks like let me see if I can pull up where to look for that if you specidically need to use Google okay so here are my class calendars I've integrated a dummy Google Classroom into my Google so I would go to settings and sharing scroll down to this area right here and grab this embed coat it starts with iframe once I've copied that I go back to my blank page and I open up the source code it looks like these arrows and paste it in here really easy ways to embed a Google Calendar on to a personal edlio page if you use that I'm getting a request to talk about just creating a simple welcome page so yeah I can definitely show that so you'll see that on a lot of these and it might be kind of confusing how that initially gets started. so this is what you might see as like the welcome or the home and then the rest of this falls underneath it so what you would start by doing if you come in and all of this is blank and there's nothing here what you start with is add page, blank page and you would call this the homepage and then any content that you'd like to add would get added here publish it now what you would do after you've made that is drag and drop this to be a very first stage and then the content that you populate to this very first page will default to falling above all of the rest of that content it's pretty straightforward after that and just make sure that everything else you want to populate stays below this all you have to do is just make sure each time that you add a new page that you drag and drop that to fall below your teacher page I'm going to delete that and then you see you again this is now defaults to my first page at the top and a refresh and see it doesn't even work anymore cuz I just deleted it and now my homepage is the top of the content block I hope that helps I saw a question about connecting remind or class dojo in my experience yes this may have been integrated before I don't know off the top of my head the steps to do that but I I think it could be possible you may just want to reach out to your client success specialist to see if they can troubleshoot how that setup would be for you Another super basic thing that I can show if you're curious on how to do this is how to change your picture you can go to profile go to this little button right here that looks like a pencil like here and then you can remove your current you can create a new one in case you didn't know how to do that So Facebook and Twitter are added if you're if you're wondering about how that's added up here that's added at the school level so typically the website administrator at the top, maybe a district admin or a sitewide admin handles working with that to add those things thank you so you can change the the theme of the page is also kind of dependent on the district level or the website level theme settings so if you want to change things like the color or the font you may want to work with your website admin first because they need to work with us the color things like that you can when you make these buttons choose the color or the styling of the button but the styling options of the button are set on a website level with the website or district admin but thank you I'm glad you liked it yes we do have a schedule on the Help Center I will show this really quickly and then I think we might
