good afternoon and good morning everyone thank you so much for joining us today my name is Cathy and I am on the client success team here at Edlio I'm here today with Sergio from our tech support team who's here to answer any questions that you have so feel free to drop those questions in the Q&A this webinar is also being recorded so it will be uploaded in The Help Center so feel free to check that in a couple days today's webinar is about back to school communication tools so now that we've all returned here are some tips for returning admins on how you can utilize our features to send important announcements and alerts so I'm going to show you some of the features that are designed to push out important information to your families and community members so the first thing I want to do is create a news story so I'm on my admin site the dashboard and this is the dashboard for web administrators I'm going to go ahead and add news and most Edlio website features news as a key component of the homepage so if we are looking at the public facing site here's our homepage news and announcements is displayed here on the homepage all right so I'm going to create a news story Give it a title we're going to add our short summary which it is about one or two sentences try not to make it too long cuz that could affect the way that it appears on your homepage and of course you can you have three ways to add your content so you can either type out your content and use utilize it to a bar here or you can link it to a file if you have a flyer ready to go you can just have it linked to a file or you can provide a separate URL if you want the news to direct to a different page let me just grab my text all right so I'm going to go ahead and also add a photo Add my alt text and then you can either choose to post this now or schedule schedule the post I'm actually going to post it now and then you can also have it expire this doesn't mean that it's expiring entirely from the news feature it's just removing it from the home page is still going to be in your news feature it doesn't delete the post I'm going to go ahead and save my changes alright so let's go ahead and view my news story here it is and if I go to our homepage we have the same post displayed on the homepage now I know that it's already on my news and announcments section of my homepage but maybe I'd like to create a homepage alert so after you usually post your news you're going to get this message here and you can utilize all of these alert features to push out that information to your parents and community members I'm going to create a homepage alert and then you can assign an expiry date which you can later go in and edit or turn off entirely so I'm going to say that this expires next Friday at 11 a.m. okay so my homepage alert is set and it's on the public facing site so let's go ahead and hit refresh and then we have our homepage alert here which then parents can click to read the full story and they are directed to the news story that I just posted and of course you can turn off the alert or you can edit the expire date okay so the next thing I want to do is push this to my social media so let's say that you want to push the same news to either your Facebook or your Twitter account you can do it directly from here so I'm going to go ahead and right now I have the social media manager connected to my Twitter account you can go in and add your Facebook and Twitter account you can connect that in your settings of the social media manager feature So let's go ahead and I'm going to push this to my Twitter I have my photo here my message and then I'm going to actually just post this now so you can schedule the time of when you want this to push out but I'm going to go ahead and post now and it's been posted so now if we go in to our Twitter account we have our news that I just shared through our social media manager all right so the next thing I want to do is I'm going to come back to broadcast later because it is an add-on feature but let's go ahead and send it through app alerts so this app alert is a push notification sent through our school news app so this is where your news items automatically is added to your school news app feed and you can also create push notifications Let me actually pull up the start guide so this can be found in our help center if you go to our help center you can find more information on the school news app it shows you how you can download this app parents can search for the school and then they can follow any updates concerning any news events as well as the push notifications that we're about to do right now and we also have a parent guide so you can download this PDF document here and you can send that to your community members and parents anyone that wants to stay updated with the event and the news or your school all right so we're going to go ahead and send this now so this is a push notification that is going out through the school news app alright so let's now send a broadcast So broadcast is an add-on feature it's a way for you can deliver messages from your District or school from the admin site you can send that out through cell phones so you can send out like voice text messages or voice messages as well as email all-in-one this is an add-on feature so if you are interested in learning more about it getting more information please reach out to your client success specialist we can definitely provide you some details and a demo So I'm going to go ahead and hit continue so we have our email message we have our text as well as the voice message that you want to send you can either record your own voice or you can send a text to speech you can also add translation but keep in mind adding translation takes up additional credits so I can hit continue and then we're going to select our parent list and this is done through the contact list feature and that everybody that's in my parents contact list they are going to get this broadcast message and again I can either send this now or send later and choose a date and time for when I would like for my broadcast to be delivered Lastly you can send the news announcement through newsletters so here we have our newsletters and maybe I want to add additional news you can add as many as you'd like And I am going to add some text here and I believe I added some here already so then after I've added some text I can I can then preview my newsletter and see what that would look like on the browser view as well as mobile view so after I've done that let's go ahead and prepare to send my newsletter so I'm going to go in and I can either send this from my personal admin account on my user account or from the organizations I'm going to go ahead and send this I can deliver this now or schedule send for a specific date and time so let's say that we can go ahead and send this I think it's okay all right so I sent this out and then now I want to add a homepage widget so what I can do is I'm going to copy the link to the news article and I'm going to go into page management and homepage widgets so for this one I'm going to send this to I'm going to add a button widget so let's give it a title we can add our URL and we can choose the position so you can either have this widget move with the page or we can have it stick so let's say I want to have it stick and then I'm going to choose the style I'm going to use this style and then make sure that we have it dragged and drops to the position where we would like for it to appear on the homepage all right so that has been saved so now I'm going to hit refresh on my homepage and then we have our homepage alert that we created earlier as well as the widget here and I know with back to school we have supply lists that teachers are using I do want to touch on that briefly because I do think that it may be useful to you it is available and it's part of your subscription so please feel free to use supply lists all of these features that I mentioned to you is available in your admin site aside from broadcast okay so we're going to go into our admin site let's go into supply lists and all of our list that we've created have been are listed here and keep in mind we also do have a more information in The Help Center we just recently did a webinar about using supply list of all of these step by step guides are in the help center as well as in-depth webinars that are recorded and uploaded in The Help Center so let's go ahead and I want to I want to use this list so just like the just like the other alerts that I've used until now to push the news we can do the same with supply lists so if I click on share I can copy this link so just to demonstrate this is what the the public facing supply list looks like so this allows parents to go in review the supply list and add them all to their cart from these three available stores so you can go and at all the items to your Amazon card super easy and simple process for both the teacher as well as the parent. So you can create a button for example if you choose to just copy the link and add it somewhere in your inside page or your news but you can also directly add it to your news so right here it's going to generate this text here and then it's going to create the link to supply list so let's go ahead and actually post this as well okay so let's go ahead and post this now and this is going to be another news story here also on the public facing state and because the coffee with the principal post is created as a homepage alert it takes priority so that's why you're seeing the school supplies come after this post alright so with that whenever you're trying to also share that I'm sorry about all these tabs whenever you're trying to share your supply list again you can there's going to be a options very very similar to the way that there were options when you're posting your news so you can share again with your broadcast you can send out an app alert add this to your newsletter or push it to your social media so that does conclude the webinar for today.
