all right folks I think we are ready to get started a very excited to be here with all of you today. My name is Danny and I am with the client success team here at edlio just some quick housekeeping up top please webinar will be about 30 minutes I dedicated to this topic right here unleashing the power of teacher pages in the end of the lcms throughout the course of today's webinar if you do have any questions please feel free to throw them in the q-and-a feature I will do my best to keep an eye on that as we're moving throughout everything in today's webinar and if I'm not able to dress as if you have any questions you go ahead Thurman that they will answer on if you're not able to stay for the entire duration of today's webinar no worries it will be added to our help center in the coming days. All right now go to today's topic unleashing the power of teacher pages quick up top now what our teacher pages all right and go over here real quick spell during the course of today's webinar I'm using the phrase a teacher pages and personal Pages kind of interchangeably want to go back and forth between them they are the same thing with a section in your siames our you can share information on one or more pages that section is referred to as personal page to every account you know what is created automatically comes with their own set of teacher pages and their cold that their personal Pages because they're all that you post your class is your calendar your photos any other information you want to put on the website it's a central hub for parents you know the school community-at-large really to learn more about I get more information about what's going on in your classroom I know again you know we can you call them to your page is a lot because they're mostly but they're for everybody right School admin support stop anybody you know we love to see you folks adding their information they're a little bio things like that to it it is really great so again teacher / personal Pages you will hear me probably say both throughout the course they are the same thing now what are we going to be doing in today's webinar are the first one to do is build out a teacher page from scratch you know we'll take a look at some elements we can add to it a little bit General best practices things like that subscribing to your teacher page and how parents and go ahead and do that I will kind of go over what else comes with a teacher page when we say that you know we're not just talking about the page is there are all sorts of things I cannot come into play here going to go single for media calendars all your classes things like that and then at the very end he will wrap it up with looking at some real life teacher pages all right now what's going on at least wise what's actually happened to the CMS here so we can actually start looking at some teacher pages together and build one out together now I am here login to a demo site I do want to point out that I am logged in as a teacher I am logged in here with a regular account no additional privileges all right now why am I pointing that out because depending on your level of access your you might be aware Batman if you're logged in as a web admin you're going to see just more stuff here I web admins automatically have more access to the other website as a whole I am logged in right now the teacher so I'm seeing less than I would right now as a web admin and you know so I just want to point that out as we going to start anybody can make you your pages whether you are a web admin or a regular user everybody has access to their own teacher pages answer is find your teacher pays your personal pages right what are you built one out how our parents he was Finding where these things are I'll answer that is in your staff directory all right so I'm going to go here go to the homepage of the site you always find your home Patriot if I clean that by now open a new tab now we have our staff directory for this site here under about us and staff directory every every sites different you might be utilizing you know the Legacy staff director she tried we have here you might have some custom staffs right he's built out with our a stopwatch feature in pages right either way it's you know whichever kind of staff directory you are utilizing our folks will be able to find his teacher page all right so here we have our super staff are amazing after I factory hear this case I'm going to click on my name Daniel Benson right here this is a teacher page that I have built out alright well then you're welcome banner up top here by letting folks know that they can subscribe to my teacher page a little intro About Me PDF of some classroom expectations are these are kind of General classroom expectations they apply to all of my classes let's keep on scrolling down here I hear you next week looking for my classes I linked it to Google class classroom stuff you utilize in Google Classroom we had a great feature with in our semester to you to help you with that I'm down here you'll see my post my post whatever and make a new post to my site here folks or subscribes to my page will get an update here post here it's kind of like a blob space in a Twitter selecting the backing and Omega new post here from the classes my followers to suppress my page is like that buttons on the side so this is everything here so this is a game is a fully-formed teacher page I want to go back you are a staff directory your to the directory for Marty Benson Marty Benson look in there. This is that you know if you have just got your other site or if you've never even attempted to build out a teacher page before this is what's it look like we click on your name you never said your name and then depending on how your school has your email preference instead of in my size send email here it might actually have your email address listed might be nothing it's it's kind of why would I set up but what I want to draw our attention to a year is this subscribe button click that subscribe to your personal page here whatever you make an update to that they will get notified of that about right now and we'll see where these go and how they can later be out later on in our communication with our our our parents like that my info I thought it was optional ayesha's here as kids will say I'm the parents of let's say you know Benson Jr all right I'm going to subscribe all right I have subscribed you begin receiving emails about this user's homepage dates are very cool to say now again I'll show you where that information goes and how we can use that later on building out a teacher page for Marty your rights yet I want to make sure we have something when folks are clicking on Marty's name now we get to our Pages futuristic right here horses pages start building our page from the hammer to drop down menu on a page management Pages all right now if I click this public link up here is going to bring me right where we just click on my name in the staff directory we got nothing going on there they'll see her with a few different we can create a page we can link to an external page what's a Yardie have you know some sort of sites filled out and he'd rather just you know link people to go to that page and go ahead right there link to another page are we can use any of our feature Pages as well as when we start adding stuff to our account things like you know videos photos calendar items links even Google start to populate here as well we just want to start with a good old-fashioned blank page here I will kind of will go through build that out and then you lie somebody's other features towards the end of blank page I thought somebody was give our page a title mister and sings last night about the message to this layout button on that all right whatever your school has set up as the the layout of the default layout right in this case will see this little sliver on the left and it's kind of like a block your block on block your block on there right here the on the left that's a  menu and on the right that's me the main content for for your site you're right you play around with this right so we want the section menu on the right things like that with you that we'll keep it on the left but what I want to do is done here you'll see we have these options that have that horizontal block up top that's a great space to add that welcome Banner that we're looking at before you do other things like adding such many buttons links I want to show it looks like when we add a photo when I click this layout here with the locked up top and the  menu on the left side is up load that's a welcome Banner will just back on all right now the cool thing about this is you can make a welcome Banner like canva and you know we are you see all the different accepted file types are here jpg paying gift heic for those using an iPhone if you don't take a photo and upload it that way in this case we are adding a gift a gift which is really cool you know it's up to something we saw some clients doing out in the wild we saw them adding gifts to their Banner we thought it was very cool so then we started utilizing at 4 these purposes as well as we saw with that teacher paid previously I will give us a second when it's upload we'll come back to that person want to do is add alt text old tax is a screen reader either going to want that they have an idea of what does images for anybody who might be visually impaired and using a screen M description of the image C welcome Banner be good enough in this case all right I'm glad we'll save draft here you probably the same draft as we're going along you look at the actions in preview what are page looks like right now. It was that can go through and see what you look like on a phone tablet desktop it's like that all right all ready to go let's go with an actual start adding some content. I used to hear the click on this ad button at the bottom but they're all different page blocks we can have its content photos file supply list buttons links regular content here in a second add a photo because I've also created a little button to draw people's attention if you remember let's see we'll go to this one here we are we having some scribe out on the left side created this graphic with the arrow pointing there I want to make sure we get that at first I want people to see hey we got this subscribe but I want people subscribing to my page photo against these Graphics very easy to make in canva I'll add hour image there I think it looks very much like this will build this out right now and we will go back and look at what it's no look like you know once we finalize all of that all right but next time you want to add another content block here are the page Bachman add content this time alright please add photos what's text all right so where to go in I'm just copying and pasting by welcome message here again a good welcome message is very important play just like the philosophy of your class and Peyton is wondering about the most hey this is where I'm from I am so excited to be with all of you this year compared to a bit like that I just a general welcome message here who got that going for us right now we have our welcome message added let's see I will go through here what else we want to add what is kind of build that we have this year also add our classroom expectations stock as well what's going here at around the block so you had a constantly better photos what's at a file now you had any kind of file type you want to hear we mostly see this utilize for PDFs you know what most folks have a lot CVS are utilizing so upload from our computer and my classroom expectations doc okay. What am I to do actually right on I just want to show you something someone to publish this real quick the actions of a few Banner we have our fun once we add our profile photo of kind of dropped his butt down to the line up perfectly with this are we going to add our profile right now we have this classroom expectations. Click that opens up in a new tab to come back here you get this dock to preview directly on the patient because he's three dots ring rename it here so if you ever found in that just a bunch of letters and numbers something I you can rename that hear something folks will actually know that no I would listen to file on this you know play the actual doc Direct on the page looks when I said open into a new tab here are they can just see what it looks like directly that which is pretty pretty cool alright self we've got that ad now I'll let's go in I will add some buttons here as well to show you what those look like I love the buttons I just think they kind of have a little splash color the kind of break up the content a little bit I really do like seeing us why I had them actually here in our section menu okay this ad button on the left over here you going to see this one all our pages are going to be sad button and click button what's the going to be a link out to a hyperlink out to a specific page will say this case you know Marty Benson here is the editor-in-chief of the Ed leoda's at the local school newspaper say click here to subscribe and Leo cuz that's awesome and going here to play around with how we wanted to look sorry folks that looks like an open that in a new tab what was that again I'll come over here and refresh I still got that button added to do is add our profile photo so this kind of lines up with this Arrow here I thought we can add our profile photo web admins will be the one adding photos right do they usually have access to you know when the school photographer comes takes everyone's photos for the day you know they're going to be utilizing those photos on the school website usually that's not the case if you want to add your own photo there they recommend doing that better than having no photo I would say if your school you know if they have all that place they've already added your photo from the other the yearbook something like that I take keep that but if there's no photo of yourself if you have a professional headshot you understood only took of you in the classroom or even just a selfie and hitting you. That would be fine again better than having no photo at all account and profile is where we can go ahead and add a photo of ourselves put this button right here photo all right here we have a photo you still going to play around that we can crop it if we like nephew in the top left you can kind of see as I'm moving along you'll see how it's going back once its crops let's go in pretty tight gear all right we'll save that all right you got that photo you're so if I go back in here now and refresh look at that we got my photo and this arrow button separate lines up a lot better than it did with his supposed hey I'm going to subscribe right here so whenever daddy makes a post to his teacher page we will get an update on the fry whenever Marty gets a turkey makes a post Bella Twin XL make a poster looks like all right we'll come back here to the admin site all right when it come here and hamburger chop that money and go to post these are the different ways you can add a post you can at 10 Lynx photo files videos whatever you like a text post here and I'll show you what it looks like later on how we can add videos and stuff in there was pretty cool give this one a title Marty here is a English teacher 11th grade and for the month of February they're going to focusing on Black History Month and works from famous black writers throughout history all right so we have like a little message here is Black History Month will dive in the iconic voices of Malcolm X and James Baldwin it through their writing down here if you want to play my day by day you can do that I think just like a general for this month we're going to be doing this is a great way to kind of keep folks updated I don't want to post this to our personal page refresh this you see here right here on this post page. Even added to our section menu if we scroll down all of our page is going to be added to over starting to add it to our bio page here alright a pretty cool self-imposed here by this teacher page is really coming together so far quickly really really quickly our calendar feature right so we go to plan and calendar go in here and you can start adding event see right this is not integrate with Google or Office 365 you be adding these are manually a point that out cuz I'll you'll see with our glasses are integration that doesn't directly with you would need to add manually though. So let's say here for our title what's the every Friday I have a news and world events day with my class I want folks to bring in articles that they have read from out out and about so let's say this repeats weekly on Fridays starting on the 26th all day I was going to every class I'm going to have folks doing this news and world events day repeats weekly on Fridays here if you wants to add a description you can do so down here I don't Rich formatting again you can do that just like any other texts that are going to lease an extra page or add any sort of files PDFs photos you can do that right here who had and click that and will that's awesome my calendar right now for all of February has been filled that we going to the Future here in March we see every Friday there has been added as news and world events day also important to notes so we come back here my supervisor just refresh now we have our calendar page at it as well alright so we've got our posts we've got our general intro page here as well all right now before when we clicked on it actually went to yes we did my page before we added my information here to be subscribed to mr. Benson teacher page here now whenever somebody signs up whenever somebody subscribe to your page again and they're going to get update whenever you make updates to you know you post things like that Remy making updates to your page come back in to our admin site anybody who subscribes there is to be added to a contact list so if we go to announce and contact list at least help you manage a group contact information for all of the people in your community look at the Air Marty Benson my personal page we have three people who have signed up or subscribe to this page right so we saw me do it that's one of them had two others prior to that we can see all of the people who have signed up here if you want to add anybody manually right if we have like maybe you know we had some sort of sign up listen to class we saw we got some parent emails there we can add those manual here by adding a simple talk contact or adding in bulk here I know why would I want to add this contact here I'll just in case you want to send out a newsletter yes you have a built-in a newsletter feature here in the side that you can send out through your class of your your your parents of your school community show me click on these 3.0 go to announce and newsletters we can start building out a newsletter here let's click new newsletter a bunch of different layouts here I really like these first two of them the news and news cuz you can pull in info from your school site things added to your calendars or the new anything Addison School news you can pull those directly in I think it's pretty cool to make one of those events and news can you now in here if we click on any of these this is where we can add any free form constantly wants you know anything they want their click on me is this where we are adding content from the school site itself include events from our calendars so we can see we have District calendar Lenox counter things like that these are things we can pull in directly to I to our newsletter here suitcase will add these are events will adhere what are the news that's been added to our school site start adding that freeform content right so I said we have to hear about black history a month again I'll be reading works from famous black authors in the rest of the newsletter here with some placeholder text so I can see what it looks like when I go in and preview it now in Golden preview top right I'll give you an idea of here or what's going on mobile and desktop that is going to automatically have your photo your profile photo up here as well to his school down you don't see the information out of here stuff new things like that it's pretty cool I'm a great way to stay in contact with everybody who is in your school Community anybody subscribed to your pager all right now I just in case quickly I do want to show you so see we're coming up on time here are classes feature so any hamburger drop-down menu I'm going to go to classes all right go ahead here in a day you can either create a new way of your class or import from Google Classroom again if you're utilizing Google Classroom I really really recommend doing this it just one more plus you can still post through your Google classroom supposed to hear me know either one works so I think you know if if you are utilizing it I think there's no reason not to add it just typically directly to your you're welcome page kabbalistic. He has his classes will see you in a second I think it's a really cool touch to add to your page will connect those classes and we can see right here for the 2020 through 2024 school year this is my class I just added from Google Classroom we had that icon that is Google classroom assignments the next one coming February to February 16th that's in a couple of days I can add a new assignment directly from the CMS here and I'll be posted over to Google Classroom once we add a due date for this assignment I think that's really cool I know not every school utilizes Google Classroom if you do not if you do not what I recommend doing is utilizing our our links feature over here let's see we're going to links what's a you utilize Schoology prayers right I want to create a new link here called schoology you add your schoology you know whatever the link to your schoology page is General thanks our schools site icon right we have a huge icon Library here that I recommend taking a look at what we've got the logo for it right there who could save no will do will go into back to our pages we'll go to mr. Betts class don't you know this is i n a great in my Google classroom for forgetting that we utilize schoology we want Point towards school education you can add schoology as a link to neither either as a button like we did here with this click here to subscribe to Evelyn cuz that right and you're right it's pretty cool who's capable of save this right whatever you got we have that's cool as you but we just added to Winx bear schoology what's publish that will come back over this is the page will refresh it to see if we have that song did you log out you come down here and we have our Google classes added right there where we get to this was one of my favorite parts of it looking at real life our teacher pages here in just a couple right here we have Andrew Brennan from Decatur classical school I love his use of teacher pages he's got a great little bio and realises the the post feature three series uploading videos from his classes pretty cool I supposed to get more subscribers page will get these updates when he posted videos like that has weekly update sources things like that love Andrews page here next up I do want to look here Haley Torres is from Culver City Middle School great you some graphics right up top here big both I cannot miss it I really really appreciate this use of her Graphics here it's pretty much like this is what you need to know I pretty much everything has to be done through Google classroom with links to her Google Classroom directions to joining Google Classroom I think it is just egg I use the space here click on her name is okay I know right here I need to go to Google Classroom I click on this but here it's going to bring me to the social studies sight yeah I think this is just a great great use up teacher pages one last when I do want to look at it here as well I might seem simple but you know it's a great just like text and spacing you it's a lot of texts but you always run down all of dr.
