all right folks I think we are ready to get started hello everyone and welcome to today's webinar content is King rafting compelling School website content my name is Danny I am with thee client success team here at and Leo very excited to be with you folks today are some quick housekeeping up front if you do have any questions today please throw them in the queue in a feature here I'll do my best to get those answered as we're moving are the contents of a if not we'll have time for a little Q & A session at the end so if you have any specific questions about your site and anything we can go over you're not related to the webinar of the way we can definitely go over those I do not worry I because this help center will be added as this webinar will be added to our help center in the coming days now for today's topic a content is King School admins are website managers and Educators we know how crucial our school websites are for engaging with our school communities I'm a former educator myself I used to have to dabble in our school website so I understand you know our school or virtual front doors into our schools connecting us with students in our parents our communities at large you know I sound like an old man yelling at the cloud buddy on today digital landscape attention is King right standing out amidst the noise of Tik-Tok Reddit YouTube twit she do any social media and I can go on and on and on it can feel like a real challenge but you're in competition with doesn't like it or not we are in competition with those things now for people's attention and that is where creating captivating content for your school website comes in right your website content isn't just about information here there I'm Tino sometimes it's two things about you know about on your own organs are regulation you know there are things you need to have on your website but overall it's really a balance engagement connection making a lasting impression your your school Community right I know that's the goal of today's webinar to conquer this content a kingdom will take a look at some which Trends old and equip you with battle-tested strategies to irresistible announcements news articles pages and so much more with redefining what is your school's brand right if you don't know what it's something to really consider this a person want to do so we're going to post some questions to you really consider about your school and if you have a brand and you know but it's not what you need within that's cool Brad will take me to look at posting use right so a lot of accounts on your site and the use of it is to inform your school Community what's happening in your school right what was happening there will take a look at new tattoo I'm looking probably content to post or news how to make sure we're getting that news put in front of as many eyeballs as possible will talk about the importance of multimedia on your homepage how you can use that to draw in your yard School audience there I will take a look at some real world examples of some sites that we think are just killing it content-wise right they understand their brand they understand how to hook an audience how to get people to their school website and stay there and last but not least we're going to talk about something called content autopilot for all you one person shows out there right here you're you're managing your school websites and you know doing 10 million other jobs at the school which you know any school at that is everybody everybody's doing you know a multiple jobs but this constant autopilot feature that we have I think is pretty cool I will talk about that towards the end here about what is her off with design and branding alright why that is so cheats now really I want to talk about when your bored with school websites for a while now a lot of companies that cater specifically to K to 12 website cookie cutter feel you know which we know doesn't work we want your school website to as unique as your school as your community and that's where at Leah websites really stand out our award-winning design team creates modern responsive designs at that beautifully to any device so everyone can stay connected more than just Aesthetics strong design plays a crucial role in engaging with your school community that user-friendly website with clear navigation allows access to important formation fostering trust and transparency with your school community at once design that's really that's not the end of the journey right. This webinar is for your folks have been with us too if you'll still get valuable information here but real time I've already launched their and the old websites are with us so far there's no way around it logo colors wants those are your school's signature Style so make sure they are being used consistently across all pages sections social media even email signatures right when folks are setting up email make sure everyone in your school is 1508 a similar email signature part of your brand this creates a sense of unity and makes your brain instantly recognizable with your school Community. Remember I mean high-quality images video showcasing your school spirit I goes a long way in solidifying your visual identity I'm start thinking about the areas you website where you can use more you can use more visual consistency your partner with if your school has a marketing team you know develop a cohesive brain strategy I'm glad that it's going to storm your website it's going to expand anywhere beyond that any of your making any sort of Prince and the graphics are going to be printed in your path around the school you know you always want to be keeping that consistency in mind I know online and offline not messaging and content I'll talk about our content when we go to your school website I start to think about this thing about your school website you're not as coming from a visitors are you visiting your your squats after the first time what story does it tell when someone visits your site what are they saying first alright so I saw a statistic I said people are looking at your site for 2.6 seconds before focusing on one specific area you want to be able to pull them in and direct their phone listen to something that you wanted to see clearly communicate your values and what makes it unique I'm use consistent messaging that resonates with your target audience you know that students potential staff right share success stories faculty achievements student experiences to bring your brand to life I remember fresh and relevant content is crucial you know I know it can be a lot but really kind of keeping the content updated is key is really important there cuz folks especially if they are visiting your website often yeah they're going to notice when something is new and we have something new piece of content they are ready to go engagement Community remember your site should just be like a static brochure right just you know here's why you should come to our school and that is it from website on social media and school announcements to drive traffic and interaction right can all easily be done within the lb of cement do this together in just a couple minutes here folks just couldn't talk to little bit more just want to go over there for into some of these building some engaging content out together here I get that don't forget the power of your community you know student created content or solicit feedback from your audience use the form feature and ask for feedback from your partner your school community like him at our website what could be you know better for you the public as far as what do you need from us to make a better website web presence really for you right to the ownership interest your website truly reflects diverse voices of your community and really too I was just want to stay here to a.a. I your friend do not be afraid to use our it is a tool just like any other any other notable use out in the yard right using a recorder thing on its own it is, nothing but you start using it and you know gauging with that you can really make slime without you can break up a lease or a I put in a prompt it's going to give you a starting point you use that and make it your own you Taylor it's too how you need it I know it's kind of a touchy subject right now but a I can really save you time and so I definitely recommend only use utilizing as a starting place right but when it comes to creating a written content even out visual content right I was just getting better and better everyday and now with us or our that's or a product you can create a videos with again still a long way to go but you do use it as a starting point to really make some really amazing content for your site all right I know I do want to take a look at a news here we're going to build out a new store to highlight how to create some really using content here how are pushing out new it's so many Avenues and channels with it it seems like the best place to start best practices for creating news for your school site first one on your audience right is your school your parents your staff Yorktown community at large Taylor your writing style and content to appeal to your target readers think about whether you're in for students parents teachers or mix of all I would really help me choose relevant topics and adjust your tone accordingly right so I'm how does a newspaper cover story think about that right there covering human interest stories a little bit differently than how they're covering really the most front page news right so you know if your school is resting you know some sort of controversy right you want to do it like you needs her with just the facts I start with the fact if you're running a human interest story right like a weekly look at a student of the week or teacher of the week staff member of the week show me like that we're going to be no todos a little bit differently right to give me a little more fluffy with those lines but anything that you really need to address what you want to start with the most important facts in descending order they're starting with the most important facts top example here is to start strong right grab attention from the first sentence you know think of it an intriguing question or a surprising fact little anecdotes I'm you want to hook your readers in make them want to learn more you know I made it to our school newspaper for a while even in high school I was right there for a while and I was a big fan of being little and a look up Todd I really feel like kind of paint a picture in my first paragraph and then really get into the story right that's one way to do it, but I did find Drew my audience in you know I did I want some New Jersey high school press Association words with that folks keep it concise and clear as well write avoid overly long paragraphs and dance text quotes images to break up the text and make it easier to read right we don't want people are going to check out immediately you need images Graphics things like they're like that in there cuz it getting at people are going to check out very very quickly jump here I actually should have the swap your multimedia I want to go to the different burning styles the images and obviously we have to text for any media photos videos added to our site kind of German background of stories stories not just faxed all those facts are important stories create an emotion connection highlight individuals against some of the weeks during the month their achievements their experiences to make news relatable and engaging I promote interaction right there's going to be really more through social media then directly on your school what's that we want to draw go to inspect your school website to promote that interaction and I'm going to kind of lump in a call to action there as well right we want to encourage comments questions discussions on anything that were posted to our site right you know you can always I use like a third party like pole quiz discussion probably being with your social media but as far as promoting interaction with new stories that you're posting and I'll show you have a computer with broadcast no you can send it out via you know text your email things like that and broadcast but you can also push out your social media and you kind of Taylor what that message looks like that incorporate a call to action or respond in the comments below with your so show media posts against really promote that interaction with your school Community Place to Showcase their perspectives the contributions of everyone in your school I've specifically the students though. It will make them feel more connected to their school Community that's the stuff I really think beyond the obvious typically appear in a Traditional School news is a student-run clubs interesting hobbies made any of you know a teacher or a staff member you not unique talents baby I'm you want to diversify your content to keep things fresh optimized for search use relevant keywords in your headlines and throughout the article to help readers find your content online as will definitely increase your website visibility and overall leadership and last but not least consistency consistency consistency the driver's point home how you got to stay consistent right publish regularly to keep your website active and engage with your audience right now you know you should be posting I eat on social media if you have the bill do something every day if possible keep that level engagement up on the conversation going with your school Community you want to develop a posting schedule and stick to it I'm so readers know exactly when to expect new content are folks going to hop out of here real quick let's go over here into an actual admin site and start building out some stuff together so I can actually do you know we've got to work on something without looking at slides post a new story here by going to the hamburger drop-down menu going to announce and news and alerts all right you see all previously published is here first thing I just want to come throughout their another tip trick best practice here make use of your categories here right on your on your homepage right so if I come here this is the homepage or the specific site that were on you no come down we have our news and announcements he write anything like that like to see schools that have a principal post on a weekly update in their own little by utilizing this category feature here right so principled I can post it on once a week every Friday they're posing as a general update you know State of the Union or the school the district however I just posted every single week against inconsistent I think it's a really great touch I know it might be a lot so for any of you going to communicate directors out there at working at school sometimes you know you might be responsible that content and having a principal give it a once-over and then a signing off on it but it's something I think that is really important and can really add a level of familiarity your your school audience as I recommend doing it if you can all right so we can add additional categories up here but first off we want to start with a headline remember we really want to be specific with how we are reading this and we want to put something here that will really try so hard up with history made yes the school I've made history weenie career prep source to highest test scores in decade all right now we're going to put in a short summary so this is what's going to appear this case was going to be right here under the headline on the homepage little differently if you have news in my ears might look something like this where you have a little short summary their included so I'm go ahead and just include a brief summary here when he career prep celebrate a decade High instead of rice test scores crediting dedicated teachers and students and an Innovative curriculum all right now what actually add the story again we really want to keep this brief as much as possible during a few things here just want to point out right this whole thing together but I am including quotes from students right so I'm getting Tanya back to our school. I'm going other people involved an ending year on a high note with a congratulations to the entire Whitney Community here move that but yes I think that really resonates with your school community and celebrate the achievements here were using language up here that really going to draw people in an 1/8 or something else that might be useful depending you know what what it is that you're pushing out because you want something actionable write a call to action of some kind and this case were going to add that in our broadcast we're opposed to social media or we going to encourage people to comment like you know things like that down here I am multimedia like I said before we want to incorporate as many pieces of meeting this is possibly a video and a photo to the wrong with it awesome I know it's kind of asking a lot of a photo little graphic that we are we made specifically for this let's see here a little state test score think I would need a canva app I can't stress that enough you make some really pro-level looking eye Graphics within can but and having amazing and an amazing day I tools now too so you can kind of use AI to build filled out this Graphics eating videos here it's pretty impressive so I don't recommend you cannabis already here while at the mall text CT state test score say that scheduled to go out later but we'll go ahead and save this the first thing I want to do to make sure we're getting as many eyes I'm as possible we can push this out to our homepage alert what you going to do right now when I get get this message out to our school Community using broadcast on coming to our site has to look at this new story dinner put it in some way we have a featured photos I want to make sure we can have this checked off again that photo is going to draw people in the button labeled Auto default to read. If you really want to help people real works for this by again if you ask me that would feel free to include a button labeled down here going to space off your sites filing and down here it's going to ask you what do you want to remove this homepage alert fall to 24 hours but you know if you need something you know you want to really celebrate for a week or so you can do that that's guess we'll make it a full week will go till the 28th hear the alert I saw that if I go to my homepage there we go we have that's a homepage pop-up alert here folks going to have to interact with this in some way here so you know to be able to use the website here so they can read. Do you have the option to go ahead and share the upholster like this here with us Twitter and Facebook that's one thing you could do is encourage folks to to go ahead and Dad here but let's go to push it out to our actual schools Instagram and Twitter and Facebook pages right now and I'm going to do that by selecting broadcasts now there is a portion give me go in and integrate your Facebook turn all that with the CMS here it's pretty easy to set up but we do now is will go ahead and check these off some of your broadcast that name is going to default to the headline that you used this case it's something I don't really want to use this as the other broadcast name so we'll just change it to state test score news folks on your getting are going to see you put a date next to it if you want I will go in on continue I do want to push it out to any other channels you can do that as well so you want to text it out or email you can do that as well but we'll go in now and just focus on our social media will continue all right so here we have our message here when he career Prep Prep celebrate the decade high in Saturday's test scores president dedicated teachers it's a short somewhere that we let me see here the link that leads directly to this story here starts we're driving traffic back to our school website which is great alright we're done yet we have are available character lengths right we have a lot more characters to use with most of these so you know we want to put something else down here right say no I had and give a 2R wcp students staff love interact with this I know what are the corn out specific person hey you my kid goes baby sleepy I'm so happy to see this amazing work all day it's great for your other attached so here right so we have that photo with the new story it's going to post this alongside it again you're utilizing multi-media more eyes and with this when it's posted to social media so I had here and continue all right so we can understand that we're so late I'm going to send how to our Twitter or ex Facebook and Instagram all with one button I felt we are now interacting with our community in a multitude of ways here within the other ocms are posting them use to side here and then also sending out to our Facebook Twitter and Instagram Pages which is pretty cool right are we going about 4 minutes I really want to make sure get to the real life examples that we have here that's where multimedia comes in so if you have a Photoshop like we see here you need to be using high-quality images right cell phone images are high-quality but taking a step further especially right your supporters  on your homepage if you have one has a specific specific size to it so if you going to your your site we go here media and shuffles again this and if you haven't homepage Shuffle if you have a video is going to be different story but he had a small picture of a click in here look up this upload video but you can see if Shuffle Dimensions right here right when you build out a graphic in canva it allows you to choose the size of your graphic when building a nap so always filled out specifically for your side here they go in creative and Graphics are so we just traded that Banner for that story we can also go in here and add it to our our our homepage here a couple of times at the mall text I'll text that is Eli's in a screen reader we want to add Altec so they can get a description of what this is right in this case were just congratulating our Whitney career Prep students if we wants are we actually also go in and link to this story as well stay back all right now we come to the homepage we have that graphic there as well again looking to drawing in the audience there click on that it brings us right to that story as well make use of that real estate video same as true right are you use some sort of General today I have a Navy team and your school are phone class or something like a great opportunity to add some student generated content there right have have the class need a video specifically to use on your homepage if you have a video on your homepage I folks I did want to look at some real life examples here from real and Leo sites here in a first.
