Good afternoon, everybody. Thank you so much for joining us today for an Edlio teacher refresher. My name is Juan; I'll be your trainer for today. I'm just going to go ahead and cover a few of the options and features that are available for teachers. I will be using a site that we have here at Edlio, but feel free to follow along on your own computers. [Inaudible] Once you log into your Edlio site, you get to our landing page. On our landing page you will see the options that are available to you. They are a little different from a website administrator. You don't have access to everything on the site, but you do have access to your pages. Along the top, you have your main menu, your school name. It will have notifications as well, or important news or new features that get launched. You can see them here. We have our Help tab, which contains our Help Center, which has tons of information available to you at any time, and you also have your Contact Edlio Support, where you can submit tickets for any issues or help that you might need. And you have your Account tab, where it has your profile and your Log Out button. You click on your Profile, takes you to all your information, or you can also edit your staff picture. You also have a Request Privileges button if you feel or need access to a certain page on the site. Say you're the coach of a team and you need to get access to the team page, you can request privileges from your website admin to this page, and then you can update your password. [inaudible] On landing page, you do have the different sections available to you, so I'm going to go ahead and go through the menu as well, and I'm going to start with Pages, which is very important to most teachers. On your Teacher Pages, when you first log in, if you haven't created any, you will see it empty. If you go to the live website you'll see that I do not have any pages listed here under my Edlio teacher profile. I'm going to go ahead and add a page. I'm going to do a blank page. I'm just going to put a quick title, [inaudible] And click save. Once you create a page it gets automatically added under your pages, so you can see that first pge now says "Welcome to My Class". If I were to go back into my pages and add another page, I'm going to add another blank page. [inaudible] Give it another title, and if I go back into my live site, you'll start noticing that a little side menu has started to build here. So if I were to add, say, page 3, page 4, page 5, it will just keep adding pages on to the side menu here. So, my first page, usually recommend you put a quick bio of yourself. That's not required but usually most teachers, that's the route they take. So we're going to go ahead and click on the content box, and once you get the content box you just go ahead and delete this and start typing, and any information you want to add. [inaudible] We do also have have editing options right here on top. For example, you have your alignment options. You can center it, you can make it bold, italicized, you can change the font size, make number lists and bullet lists, you can also make a link to this one. So, for example, say you wanted to link this to an external site, or another page within your site, you will go ahead and click Link, and say we're going to go to - I'm just going to use Google for now - and then we're going to click Target, we're going to say New page and click Ok. Just say yes, I have the HTTP, and now this is an actual link, so I'm going to go ahead and click save. If I refresh my page, you will see that there is a new text on my page and actually, if I hover over this and click on it, it takes me to the link I entered. You can also add photos. For example, you have a gallery option. You click gallery, it gives you the gallery content box, where you can either upload or drop your photos. Click upload, you do have a few options. You have your computer, which is your local hard drive. You also have Dropbox, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive. Or, if you have them on your desktop already, you can just go ahead and drag and drop it, and you can add as many images as you like here. Once you're done uploading your images it's also important you add your alt text. Some schools might make the alt text required. If it is required you'll see an orange box around your image saying "Alt text missing". If you do not enter an alt text when you see that orange box, your images will not display on the live site until you enter an alt text. If they don't have it around there, it's not required, but we recommend that you do for ADA friendliness. It has to just be a very quick description of the image, for example, this one is a chalkboard, and the other one is schoolbuses. It doesn't have to be very long, just a very quick description of the image. And then here you do see that it says display mode. There are two: one is automatically rotating and the other one is stacked, so I'm going to go ahead and leave it on automatically rotating so I can show you the difference. Let me refresh my page. You'll see that I have the chalkboard first, and since I have it on rotating, after a few seconds it's going to rotate to the next image. And this will keep changing the images until it gets through all the images you've uploaded and it'll start again. If I were to change this to stacked. Always make sure you click save! Apply your changes, and I go ahead and refresh my page again. You'll notice that the pictures are now stacked. Keep in mind that if you have 10 images and you select the stacked option, it's going to get pretty long, but it is an option for you. If you have a lot of images we usually recommend the rotating shuffle just to make sure that the page doesn't get too long. [Inaudible] The last container we have Files. So, if I were to click Files here, you can upload PDF files here. You can also upload Word documents, just keep in mind that if whoever downloads the file doesn't have Word they won't be able to view it. So normally we recommend you have PDFs uploaded here. So, if I go ahead, also, you'll have the upload options as well and you can also drag and drop. [Inaudible] Sorry, I received a question. Yes, the webinar is being recorded and it will be uploaded to the webinar page hopefully today. So, back to the PDF. If I upload a PDF and drag and drop [Inaudible] and I click save. Let me refresh my page. If I just uploaded, it will only show the file name. A new feature that Edlio has launched about a month-and-a-half ago, 2 months ago, is the ability to have your PDF be shown on the page. To do that, you would click on the three dots on the side, and you have a couple of display options here. You know the file name, small, medium, and large. I'm going to go ahead and select large. You can see the PDF opens. Click save here and then click refresh. You'll see that now, my PDF is open on my site. And your visitors still have the imprint options, download options - all the options that come with a PDF. There's another option you have for your pages. You also have the same content boxes on the side like content gallery and files. Keep in mind that if you, for example, you select an image and you upload an image here, it will be a lot smaller than the one on the main part of the site. [Inaudible] Now you'll notice the image is here. So you can also add text, images and files here. You cannot have the file displayed on the side, only on the main part of the web page, but you can have the file list on the side. [Inaudible] Additional pages that are available to you, so they can click Add Page. You do also have a videos page, photo album page, calendar page, and a links page. The photo album and videos ones are pretty self-explanatory. One, you can upload photos. I create albums in that page. The videos one, you can obviously upload videos of events or class events you have. The calendar is a personal calendar, so you can use it if you have a classroom calendar. You can also use that one. I can just add it in, very simple, give it a quick title, the date, the time, if it's an all day event just click "All day event". If it repeats, you can set up the option, location is optional, give it details for the event, you have rich formatting options as well, you can link to external sites if it's needed, you can upload/attach files to the event as well, and once you fill out all the information just go ahead and click Save. So, let me create something really quick. [Inaudible] Once you create one event, maybe refresh here, the calendar appears and you can see your events here. [Inaudible] You can also rearrange the order of your pages. For example, say you wanted the calendar to be right below Welcome to My Class. As long as you just drag and drop with these six little dots here and you refresh your page, you'll notice that the calendar page is now second. You can also unpublish a page. For example, say this page is empty right now and I didn't want my parents seeing an empty page, you can go ahead and click here then click unpublish. And you'll notice that it has a circle with a line through it. This is helpful if you're building a page. I know teachers are very busy and sometimes you build pages in parts. So you can have it, unpublish, continue to build the page, add content to it, make it look the way you want to make it look, and then you're ready to go, you can always publish the page again just by picking up your dots and and clicking publish here. Or, you can also publish and unpublish on the actual page itself. [Inaudible] I'm going to go ahead and cover Posts really quick. Posts are a little bit of an easier way of getting information to your parents, students without having to build an entire page. For example, say you wanted to put a post and send out a field trip slip. So, I'm going to say I want to send out a file. And I'm going to select the fire and drag it, so I'm going to go ahead and drag it. Say this is my field trip form, and this is the Field Trip form, Permission Slip, and I'm going to say "Please fill out and return". [Inaudible] You have your editing options again. I'm going to post it to my personal page, so when I click Save, I go back to my homepage. You'll notice at the bottom, I'll have Recent Posts, and you'll see the Field Trip Permission Slip. Parents can click on here and it takes them to the form where they can download it, fill it out, and return it to you. It also adds a post page here. So this is where all your posts will always stay, they'll always live here, so they can go back and see posts from before, see the most recent post. Your post page doesn't appear until you have at least one post. If you don't have any posts made, or completed, you will not see the page. So this one gets automatically added to your page list once you create at least one post. [Inaudible] You have a few options for posts. You have text post, link post, photo post, file, and video. And you can have as many posts as you like, there is no limit to how many you can have. You can also edit the post after if you made a mistake or want to add more information, and you can also delete the post if you no longer need it. Since I don't have any more posts, if I go back here you'll notice the post page is gone. If you notice that your post page is gone, that just means that you don't have any posts listed on your post page and that's when it gets hidden from view. [Inaudible] Another important one for teachers is Classes. Depending on the school you are at, some schools might encourage the use of the classes features, others might not. I do know that a lot of schools also use Google Classroom, which we do have integration with Google Classroom. I will show you that right now for classes, and I'll go ahead and go here. These are where you can list all of your classes you teach. You can see if we have Google Classroom integration. It allows you to create assignments here in Edlio and push them to your classes in Google Classroom. I apologize, it looks like something happened with our webinar feature. The screen went blank for whatever reason. Hopefully it's back. Okay, so I'll go ahead and start over again. This is your adding a class. You can connect it to Google Classroom as well, but I'm going to go ahead and enter it manually. This is the course name, I put math, department, I put math as well, the term is active so we make sure you click on the active term. You can tell by the dates that it has on it. You can give it a description of the class [Inaudible] Sorry about that. You can also attach files. For example, a syllabus, class rules, anything that pertains to the class. This is helpful. I know that a lot of schools have co-teaching classes. So, if you teach this course with another teacher, you can click "Yes, I do!", select the teacher you teach it with and what this allows is for both of you to have access to just this class that you're sharing, to add assignments, add files to it, so this would be helpful if there's a co-teaching class that you have. And when you select the teacher, the class will be listed under your page, and it'll also be listed under the other teacher's page as well. I'm going to go ahead and click save here. Once my class is added, if I go back to my homepage and click refresh, you'll start seeing that my classes get automatically added to the homepage. I can see that there's math, period one, period two. If you click on here, you can see all the assignments, anything you have assigned to your class. Parents can also subscribe to classes. If a parent, or even a student, subscribes to the class when you had an assignment. Before, the cutoff time was usually around 5 p.m. your local time, the parents or whoever subscribes will receive an email with the assignment that you have created, a notification of any changes you made to your pages or posts, or additional pages that were added for this class. They also have the option to subscribe to your pages right here, and this one will send them any changes that you have on your page. You can subscribe to your entire page, all of your pages, or you can subscribe on a class-by-class basis as well. You will see all your people that you have subscribed right here on your contact list. Once you start getting people subscribing to your pages, to your class pages, you click here, you'll see math, period one, period two, Edlio teacher. You see personal page, class pages, and the number of contacts that you have here. Now it's zero, because I don't have any subscribers, but this is where you can edit, add, delete, update any subscribers that you have here. [Inaudible] Media. Pretty self-explanatory. It's photos and videos that we covered earlier. This is what you would upload them as well. [Inaudible] Let's see what else we can cover. Email Sender. Email Sender is built into the CMS, and it's available to all teachers and administrators. If you're a teacher and using a teacher account, you can only send emails from yourself. If you're a website administrator, you can send emails from yourself or from the school. When you first log in, you'll get this landing page here. Just make sure that your name and your email are correct and you say "yes, my info is correct" and they give you some templates you can choose from. You have about seven templates you can choose from. One of them does let you include news from the homepage, so, the main news on your school's homepage that you can pull from there. So, if your class, say, was shown on the homepage - there was a special event you had in your class and the school put it the homepage, and you want to share with your parents you would select this one, click continue, and you can have the editing options or you put here your information. Next, here's where you put your stories. So, if I click "Add news stories", it's going to pull all the news stories from the homepage. So, say this is where my class was featured. And then you have a bottom of your email. Once you're done editing, you can preview what it would look like. If I click Preview Email, you'll see what it would look like on a desktop, and what it looks like on a mobile phone. You can see there's a news article, folder and the header of your email. If everything looks good, you save and return to message, and you say "I want to continue" to send it out. This is where you would send it out. You can add existing - so, this is where, once you start getting contacts, subscribe to your pages or if you create a custom contact list, you can just pick and choose which list you want to send it to. You can also enter individual emails so if they want to send it to this parent. You give your email a quick subject and then you have some delivery options. You can send it right away or you can also send it later. You can pick which date you want to send it. Say I want to send this on Friday at 3 p.m. when we get out of school. And once you're done with all the information, you can click Send on September 22nd, or if you have the option, Send Now. It's going to say "Send Now". This is always available, it's available to all teachers and administrators to use to send emails, to send them newsletters for your class or any information you want to send to your parents. Okay ladies and gentlemen, that was a quick refresher course on teacher pages, teacher features. Keep an eye out for future refresher webinars.
